@RaeRae84 I had it in September. I was not too ill considering but also had the antibody test later (friend works on a study so volunteered) and had antibodies so figured I'm not at high risk now.

If I was more at risk I'd definitely consider it. I work mainly at home too so that helps. Keep getting bloody hassled for it though. Might have to block my GP!!

RaeRae84 · 12/05/2021 10:21

@Noodles4Me I haven't had any antibody tests but I figured surely us having it means we do have them! I have tests each month through a survey and we can have those rapid tests done at work if we want to. I have been in the office since the start but taking earlier maternity at the start of July so least I can be home and DH WFH so hopefully we will be all good

SillyBry · 12/05/2021 10:42

A colleague of mine has just come down with Covid... she's 34 weeks pregnant, bless her! She's just at the end of her 10 days isolating and said she felt really rough, but currently no effect on baby. She's got to inject herself with anticoagulants/blood thinners for two weeks now though as a result.
Her catching Covid has made me think more and more about it. I spoke to a Dr friend of mine, who said she should be a vaccine advocate, but based on what they are seeing in hospital with clotting issues and the fact numbers are currently low, if it were her, she would be tempted not to have it during pregnancy, based on being low risk, working from home and not taking unnecessary risks with exposure etc.
I need to watch the Pregnant then Screwed Webinar - I'm sure that will help me... plus, I've not been approached yet, so I can still discuss it with my GP and midwife, when the time comes. It's just starting to weigh on my mind!
My hubby gets his second dose today, so I'm surrounded by vaccinated people at least - but they may still be able to carry it, I'm not sure?

Hope everyone is feeling ok anyway! 23 weeks here - and actually feeling less achey than I have for the last week or two. But just got some pesky headaches that I can't shake off. The joys of pregnancy!
Hoping to drag myself out for a half hour run before lunch, but we'll see how enthusiastic I am when the time comes!! ;-)
I rode my horse early this morning - and although I'm doing less and less riding, it's SO nice to do something where you forget you're pregnant for 40 minutes and just feel like you! Every week, I realise this could be the last week... I think hubby is secretly hoping every week is the last week too to be honest, but he trusts me to make the right call.

I submitted my MatB1 form yesterday - so I'm officially on maternity leave from the bank holiday weekend in August until the end of May. Scary! I need to work out how to use my holiday around that so I get some pay before I go back to work - and so I get a bit longer off pre-baby, but I've not quite decided on that yet!

leftitlate37 · 12/05/2021 13:26

Hey @RaeRae84 I went for the babygo one j think it's called. Has diff straps for diff trimester and one that can go under bump and one round back. Havent tried it running yet which is why I wanted it to see if helped but worn it walking and nice and supportive when back has felt v achey. Easy to adjust which is nice too. Think was 20 quid. The reviews were good which was why opted for that one as didnt want one too loose.

RaeRae84 · 12/05/2021 13:35

@leftitlate37 thank you, that was one of them in my list, seems to come up in the top 10 of moat of the lists I've seen. Good to know it's easy to adjust as well as that's something I was worried about. Hope it works for you when running! I actually managed to go this morning for the first time this year. Definitely felt easier than doing it at night even if it's an early start!

marshmallowmode · 12/05/2021 15:39

Hi all! I've been reading these threads since the very first one but it felt a bit like jinxing things to post so have just been stalking 😂. But we had our 20 week scan this week and got to see our lovely healthy baby so thought it was about time I joined the chat! Also found out we're having a boy which is lovely. Would have been perfectly happy either way but it does make it feel more real! It'll be our first baby so reading these threads has been great for me, I've no idea what I'm doing at all as the first of my close friends/family to have a baby too.

@Bubbles1st could I be added to the list please? Due date is 27th and we're expecting a boy. Thanks ❤️

AdventuresAwait · 12/05/2021 16:19

Congratulations and welcome @marshmallowmode!

RaeRae84 · 12/05/2021 16:38

D0nut · 12/05/2021 16:41

Hi @marshmallowmode! I just had my 20 scan today. It’s such a relief isn’t it?! It’s my first too.

D0nut · 12/05/2021 16:42

Welcome @marshmallowmode
I just had my 20 week scan today. It’s such a relief isn’t it?! It’s also my first.

D0nut · 12/05/2021 16:44

Oops-didn’t mean to post twice! It didn’t look like my original post worked!

CherLW · 12/05/2021 16:53

Congratulations @marshmallowmode 💙

Whoever mentioned Cake Maternity/Nursing Bras on a previous post... Thank You so much! I received mine today and they fit perfectly and are so comfy! After multiple orders and returns from different companies I have finally found the ones!!

bewitchingnight · 12/05/2021 16:56

Congrats and hello @marshmallowmode !

Oh I saw an Instagram advert for cake yesterday @CherLW they look good! Glad you are pleased with them

CherLW · 12/05/2021 16:59

@bewitchingnight I struggle with bras normally as I have a larger bust but so happy these ones fit well and there is plenty of give too for when the milk comes in!

marshmallowmode · 12/05/2021 17:13

Thanks guys! Going to start buying bits for baby now 🎉. My attempts to buy maternity wear for myself have gone terribly so far, had to return almost everything for not fitting and I'm currently living in dungarees that are 5 sizes up (so not very flattering) and bras that no longer fit and have to be taken off halfway through the day 😂

deedeebythesea · 12/05/2021 20:05

@marshmallowmode very warm welcome! I have struggled with maternity wear too. At least 90% of stuff I ordered online had to be sent back!

I had my 25w appt today (a little earlier than planned, but I had to cancel the original appt because of work commitments). No blood test or listening to the heartbeat. Had my urine tested for protein and glucose, blood pressure measured, bump/ fundal height measured, and just a general chat. I complained about my ankles being swollen. MF recommended keeping the elevated as much as possible throughout the day. Easier said than done!

If anyone is on the fence about getting the vaccine, this group is an interesting read. Obviously having the covid vaccine is an individual's choice but they try to provide scientific evidence, people's first hand accounts and try to dis spell any unreliable information, so that you are able to make a informed decision.

Bubbles1st · 13/05/2021 15:51

Wow I'm exhausted today! 23 weeks tomorrow and it doesn't seem to take much to wipe me out.

We finally Bought a pushchair which I'm delighted about we went for the oyster 3. Was delighted after trying it to pick up a brand new one on eBay for a good price.

However now I'm after some tested advice on bedside crib options please...

is a Moses basket sufficient?
Are expensive next to me cribs worth it over the cheaper versions?

Any previous things you've tried and tested I'd welcome your feedback. I just feel that everything is marketing to ensure new parents feel they need to buy expensive branded products and I comply won't fall for it!

Thanks in advance e

@Bubbles1st I'm with you on feeling wiped out - I keep saying to myself, I'm meant to have loads of energy... this is the golden time of pregnancy and I feel lumpy and exhausted already! LOL!

I was very lucky that I was handed a few things down with my first... I was loaned a moses basket and a crib.
The advantage of a moses basket is you can carry it into any room, so it's good for daytime sleeping - it can go anywhere. And it's nice and cosy when they are newborn.
Disadvantage, it doesn't last them very long - and some babies have outgrown them in a short space of time. If you have a pram with a bassinet, chances are that will be approved for daytime/supervised sleeping and will replace the need for a moses basket for daytime sleep and is something you have already/not another item.
(Chances are baby will outgrow the moses basket before 6 months - in which case, do you have space for a cot in your room/would you be happy to move baby earlier?)
Crib - advantage - it's a lot bigger/lasts longer and is more like a cot, so less of a drastic change for baby when you move from one to the other.
Disadvantage - its not easy to move around the house, so your napping might be more fixed!

We had a relatively simple crib - like this - www.mamasandpapas.com/products/breeze-crib-crbz02w00?utm_term=39349351219365&gclid=CjwKCAjwnPOEBhA0EiwA609ReUFmUPD7J7-sQiOHOhFKn0jcKZL60tkUETZ9QX8DuMeGC6rv38bBDhoCoroQAvD_BwE

My daughter was in it until about 5 months.

Bubbles1st · 13/05/2021 16:20

@SillyBry thanks, we have been given a Moses basket and in fact new mattress for it came today hence me asking!

I think I want this downstairs for the reasons you mention about it being easy to move.

I have seen the little cribs like you've shared.

We just about have room for it next to my side of the bed but I'm so clumsy and worried about clambering over him!

@Bubbles1st we’ve got a snuzpod 3 that our friend has given us for free that she swore by, then we’ll give it back when we’re done with it in time for her 3rd baby! 😂 all we’ve had to buy then is a new mattress for it. Then we’ve got the carry cot for the pram that can be used for naps downstairs (not overnight but that’s not a problem)
