I’m only 14 weeks but it’s starting already! Have been told today by an acquaintance I’ve met a handful of times that not only is my bump massive, but so are my boobs Hmm

She’s not wrong to be fair, nothing fits me Grin but I can’t imagine commenting on someone else’s boobs pregnant or not 🙈

I got a lot of my god you're huge and also oh but from behind you'd hardly know, as people at worked physically turned me around and had a good debate about it all. Confused
Odd that this is considered something okay to do/say but there is general acceptance that commenting on someone's physical appearance, e.g. increasing weight gain or baldness is rude.

I also got general unsolicited and unhelpful advice - of course you must breastfeed, don't breastfeed you'll have no life, be careful not to spoil baby, they can really manipulative. Wtf?!

3rdtimemomma · 11/04/2021 16:43

"Are you actually pregnant"

At nearly 30 weeks I think it was.

Lots of the are you actually pregnant comments due to just not showing much!

Started to make me very paranoid and a little upset!

georgarina · 11/04/2021 16:52

Yeah I've got the boobs comment lol, so awkward!

And "you'll have no problem feeding the baby" !! Shock

Merename · 11/04/2021 16:56

‘Are you sure it’s not twins in there’

‘You’re all bump’

‘You’d better sleep now...’

All manner of opinions on decision to have a home birth. So many. People say such stupid, intrusive shite to pregnant women.

An elderly family friend, when DH (then we weren’t married) told her baby was on way, she asked ‘are you the father?’ We’d been together for years!! Shock

ThisMammaCat · 11/04/2021 16:58

"Are you sure there's only one in there?"

No, there might be 12.

Koolandorthegang · 11/04/2021 16:59

I was getting my hair done in a new place and I’d never met the girl doing it before. I was about 8 months pregnant and she asked me if it was planned Grin

Changechangychange · 11/04/2021 17:00

Next door neighbour “when are you due?”
Me “April” (this was in January)
NDN “What, this April?”

How long does she think humans gestate for? I already had a bump, did she think I was going to stay pregnant for another 15 months?

Yogamummy23 · 11/04/2021 17:00

‘Are you sure you’re 30 weeks you don’t look any different!’
And then when I assured them I was.
‘Well it must be a small baby!’
Really not helpful when I’d been referred for growth scans anyway Hmm

Changechangychange · 11/04/2021 17:01

And yes, lots of boob comments. Primarily from random men. It was grim.

ifellintoarabbithole · 11/04/2021 17:01

"She's eating for three". When I was stood right there, with my singleton bump. Cruel. Regret not pulling her up on it at the time, as it deeply upset me.

Tryingandhoping2020 · 11/04/2021 17:05

@Changechangychange NDN “What, this April?”

Crying 😂

You're as big as a house.
I do get very large bumps and I was massive with our twins. I'm not really bothered by comments though. I do find the "are they not here yet?" super annoying at the back end.

happytoday73 · 11/04/2021 17:14

'are you sure it's only one... They do miss a twin sometimes'
'nearly there love' 'no I've actually got another 12 weeks'
'God that baby going to be hard to deliver' ... From a mum with kids in maternity unit to her mum while looking at me 'I'm not deaf, thanks for your support and encouragement' was my reply.... She was right but really!
'have you still not had the baby'... 'Yes I had it two weeks ago'.... but my blood pressure is crazy so have just got out of hospital/got odoema....

Ednadidit · 11/04/2021 17:16

I’m already sick of people asking if I’ll find out the sex and then telling me that they wouldn’t. Good for you - it’s not you who’s pregnant. Don’t ask me if all you want to do is castigate me 🙄

Himawarigirl · 11/04/2021 17:17

To be fair I was huge with my third but I was walking my kids home from school when a man pulled his car up alongside us with the windows down and asked when I was due. When I said I had another two weeks he started laughing, said ‘good luck with that then’ and drove off cackling to himself. He had kids in the back himself as well!

bubblebath62636 · 11/04/2021 17:21

'you're huge'

'actually you're not that big, my dd was bigger'

'you'll have to have another one next'

'you'll have to have a boy next'

All said by the same friend within an hour!

orangegina · 11/04/2021 17:37

When I was pregnant at a wedding another guest who is didn't know said, oh not long to go! How many more weeks left!

Me: errr weeks? About 20. I'm only half way

Her: oh really? Err err errr (obviously
Embarrassed) , don't you just hate those people who stay slim when pregnant? I wasn't one either

Tryingandhoping2020 · 11/04/2021 17:38

Some of these are outrageous Shock where do social boundaries go when a pregnant woman is involved! @Himawarigirl that is awful!

Colleague at work " Do you know who the father is?"

YES my partner!!!

PJ04JCW · 11/04/2021 17:44

I got asked by a woman in M&S if I was in weight watchers. I told her I expected to lose about a stone in a day in approximately three weeks. She didn't know what to say 🤣

MissConductUS · 11/04/2021 17:47

A bit OT, there was one old cow at church who kept spreading the rumor that I was pregnant when I wasn't. I was undergoing fertility treatment at the time so I wanted to slap her.

Tryingandhoping2020 · 11/04/2021 17:48

Oh and let’s not forget the well meaning concerns over safety etc. Yes I am three months pregnant, and yes I am still capable of stepping down a 30cm high platform 😂

Tryingandhoping2020 · 11/04/2021 17:51

@MissConductUS that is horrible! What a vile person.

Haha my hairdresser has been the only one to say that, I'd heard it was a common one to get asked. Think I just said "well it was ivf so very much so"

Otherwise nothing bad, lockdown as had its perks. No bump touching either thank god. Just that I'm "very neat" from odd neighbour or colleague. I think those with large bumps get the worst of it.

MondeoFan · 11/04/2021 17:56

You look massive

You need to stop crying as the baby inside can pick up on it you know

Hope you won't breastfeed again

Your legs look so skinny compared to your tummy

You shouldn't be going to the hospital to visit X as pregnant people get germs easier
