I’m only 14 weeks but it’s starting already! Have been told today by an acquaintance I’ve met a handful of times that not only is my bump massive, but so are my boobs Hmm

She’s not wrong to be fair, nothing fits me Grin but I can’t imagine commenting on someone else’s boobs pregnant or not 🙈

Ah gosh yes MIL and her you wait until insert scary/unpleasant scenario happens. She genuinely terrifies me about birth/labour.

Mummy2O · 11/04/2021 17:59

My Mil when she saw me on a video call at about 24 weeks: "Well I didn't think you'd be that big already!"

To be fair, I am huge but it just isn't polite.

MissConductUS · 11/04/2021 18:00

Thanks OP. I did get pregnant a few months after the incident then had a second two years later with no medical help at all. They're both in uni now, so this was a while ago. 😊

Blughbablugh · 11/04/2021 18:05

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and aged 38. Recently an aquitaine of mine told me that she thought of being pregnant as something you do when when you are young and naughty! Hmm

WeavingWandering · 11/04/2021 18:21

I’m not finding out the sex - and I’m very close to using some less than kind words with the next person who is unfamiliar with the gender-neutral ‘they’ ...

Tryingandhoping2020 · 11/04/2021 18:23

@MondeoFan ah yes the old ‘don’t worry, it’s bad for the baby’... because that’s going to make you worry less!

@Blughbablugh whaaaat Confused I wouldn’t even know how to respond to that!

Boss when I told her "was it planned?"
Friends girlfriend "bet that was a surprise" nope completely planned
MIL "well it doesn't look like she'll be small going on the size of you" I was having extra scans and had to be induced because she stopped growing.
Random woman in Tesco didn't say anything but rubbed my stomach and was shocked when I told her to move her hand before I moved it for her.

KurtWilde · 11/04/2021 18:25

Are you actually pregnant though?
Did you really NEED another?
Aren't you a bit too young?
Aren't you a bit too old?
I bet your parents aren't happy..
It's only a miscarriage..
Your face is really fat now!
Thought you'd make the same mistake twice eh?

Not all for the same pregnancy obviously!!

abeanbaked · 11/04/2021 18:25

'Was it planned?'

Drives me nuts, such a weird thing to ask someone.

Tryingandhoping2020 · 11/04/2021 18:28

The “was it planned”/“do you know who the father is” ones Shock like you’re going to say “no, total mistake actually and it could be either the guy I slept with on Wednesday, maybe the one on Friday, oh and then I did have a busy weekend...”

Crosstrainer · 11/04/2021 18:31

My friend is a teacher. One of the (teenage) boys in her class asked “have you told the father?”. “No, Daniel”, was her reply, “I thought you should be the first to know....” 😂😂

TheFoz · 11/04/2021 18:43

I got a ‘was it planned?’ from a friend when I told her about a miscarriage. Four days after the birth of my youngest I was on the phone to a nurse who was directing my call to a colleague and asked was it planned. That one really annoyed me because this woman is a professional and all she was doing was directing my call.
Also have been asked who the father was of my eldest. 🤦‍♀️

SweetAsANutt · 11/04/2021 18:48

'You alright, fatty'.
I was about 36 weeks pregnant and the woman at work that said it was a very very large lady. Never did like her, she's very gossipy and bitchy.

'You're waddling'
Oh thank you so much captain obvious. I gave birth 3 days later.

'Your bump is huge'
Is it. I'll get over it. My bump was always measuring on track..

'Oh your baby is massive'
This was at my growth scan at 36 weeks and DS was weighing in at about 6lb something. He was born weighing 7lb 2oz.

Honestly some people are just annoying Grin.

SweetAsANutt · 11/04/2021 18:49

Forgot to add to the last bit that it was a family member who said DS was big on my growth scan.

Changeisconstant · 11/04/2021 18:56

'You'll be the size of a house if you keep eating like that!'
While eating a sausage sandwich for breakfast at work. The only time of day I could eat without throwing up and this was around 20 weeks pregnant when I'd already lost 2st and in a room full of people.
I've also had comments about gender whilst pregnant, how disappointed I must be to be having another boy Hmm
Funnily enough during my second pregnancy a few people said how much smaller I was but I was actually significantly bigger as I had polyhydramnios. I think the fact I started off bigger second time made me seem smaller Blush

Cushionsnotpillows · 11/04/2021 19:02

I lost all people pleasing tendencies while pregnant and developed absolute rage a killer stare and ability to smack away approaching bump rubbing hands with glee.
The first "was it planned?" caught me by surprise but all further enquiries were met with "that's really none of your fucking business"
Can highly recommend it.
DC turned out a very chilled out kid despite his mother's hormonal rages Grin

JustSaying101 · 11/04/2021 19:07

Male colleague at work took one look at my bump and said: 'urgh, not another one pregnant'. What a horrendous thing to say! Also constantly got told my bump was tiny, which was annoying. Really not sure why people feel the need to comment on bump size, particularly as it usually has no correlation to size of baby!

Tilly18101 · 11/04/2021 19:13

Gosh some of these :o

I’m pregnant with my first, 33 years old and only 9.5 weeks but I am so sick of the ‘was it planned’ or ‘I take it, it didn’t take you long then as we didn’t know you were trying!’ (In laws!) I think I’d rather keep my sex life with your son private thanks!

queenofthenorthwest · 11/04/2021 19:38

Wha you? Your pregnant?

Sexnotgender · 11/04/2021 19:44

God you’re MASSIVE... thanks random man🙄

Tryingandhoping2020 · 11/04/2021 19:50

God I'd forgotten about the "we didn't know you were trying" brigade. Why would I tell you? Was I supposed to put an ad in the paper that we were trying for a baby?
Tvscreen · 11/04/2021 20:08

With my first pregnancy, MIL kept on going on and on about how she lost weight during her pregnancy and had to buy size 10 clothes when she was 9 months pregnant but then had to give them away literally 3 days after she gave birth because she snapped back so quickly and everyone was amazed as no one believed DH was her baby. She told me this literally every time she saw me which was once a week with first baby.

She kept offering me her size 6 clothes during pregnancy knowing full well I’m size 14 pre-baby and was obviously not going to fit into anything.

She also told me that she could use some of my pregnancy weight as she was just so skinny. Not seeing her during lockdown has been a godsend.

PutOnAHappyFace · 11/04/2021 20:14

I once got asked if all my kids had the same Father when pregnant with my 3rd. I don't mind the 'arent you huge/small' I think its just a harmless comment but some are ridiculous.

I hate this one! People telling me to stop saying "they" when it's only one baby in there... They'd rather "it" or "he or she", both of which do not appeal to me!
