I’m only 14 weeks but it’s starting already! Have been told today by an acquaintance I’ve met a handful of times that not only is my bump massive, but so are my boobs Hmm

She’s not wrong to be fair, nothing fits me Grin but I can’t imagine commenting on someone else’s boobs pregnant or not 🙈

Well that made no sense. It was 'planned?' punctuation matters Grin

‘Have you tried ginger biscuits?’

Yes, Angela, but they’re biscuits, not pharmaceuticals. I have HG.

Tryingandhoping2020 · 15/04/2021 19:15

@Ednadidit yes yes yes! At the worst point in my sickness I was ready to punch the next person who asked if I’d tried ginger biscuits.

Someone i haven't spoken to for ages and had only met a few times messaged me out of nowhere on social media telling me:

  • to make the most of my rest as I will never sleep properly again, even when the baby is sleeping I will be overwhelmed(?)
  • told me what I should put in my hospital bag and told me some of the things I had put in my bag were wrong and not to bring them
  • told me to hope I don't have an induction as they are unbearably painful and I won't be able to control my contractions (I have an induction booked for next week)

Thankfully not had any comments on my bump. Had a few randoms in shops etc asking me when I'm due which I always find a bit weird

A neighbour commented that my baby would "come out looking like an Indian" as l ate so many curries.

I had had a takeaway delivered as l was heavily pregnant and couldn't be bothered to cook...

Telling a close family member we were expecting and gave the due date....a few mins later they replied ‘so you conceived on the weekend of X date’. Why are you doing the math on when we had sex!

FindingMeno · 15/04/2021 19:29

"Don't you think you're a bit old?"
I was 35, and the person knew my age....

RandomMess · 15/04/2021 19:30

"Is it twins?" TBF I'm 5' and had a 10lb6oz baby with copious amounts of fluid and massive placenta so no wonder I was so big!

OllietheOwl · 15/04/2021 19:30

I usually got “you’re tiny!! Are you sure you’re that far along?! OMG when I was 16/20/40 weeks I was massive etc etc”.
I had a very small bump with both of mine. Both born exactly the same size 6’12!
I wasn’t bothered as my scans always showed baby was following its growth scale.

Teakind · 15/04/2021 19:42

‘Was it planned?’ By a colleague I didn’t know very well and didn’t want to share how I’d been through multiple miscarriages and IVF to get pregnant so yes, was very much planned!

‘This is going to be your last one isn’t it?’ Surprisingly by a few family members! I’m pregnant with my third and have always wanted three children.

From 6 months pregnant right up until the end with DS the cleaner from work would say "any day now..." I didn't have the heart to tell her I had 3 months to go, he was huge though so my bump was massive but even still I'd never comment on anyone's bump.

Also "sleep as much as you can now" which actually annoyed me, I never doubted that I'd be tired, but it made me feel extra anxious about being sleep deprived (which tbh was worse than I imagined it would be, but it didn't help hearing it constantly)

Oh and comments when I'd buy a coffee, "are you sure you should be drinking that?" Yes. I want it, I'm within my caffeine limit. Ugh

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/04/2021 19:55

"Ooh, what are you hoping for?"

“A baby“

"..."

RandomMess · 15/04/2021 20:49

@LadyMonicaBaddingham

I used to say "a puppy 😍"

LittleTiger007 · 16/04/2021 10:24

Exactly @Fleamaker123!!

LittleTiger007 · 16/04/2021 10:50

@spaceghetto

My mil told me I was putting on a lot of weight all over. She also would comment often on how fantastic Kate Middleton looked when pregnant!
I’ve had this too. I responded once “yes I made a mistake when I ordered this pregnancy, I should have ordered a neat bump instead of the all over weight gain. Oops. ... do you really think I had a choice in the matter?!” And this from my sister who always looks like a barn door when she gets pregnant and then looses it all when she breastfeeds - you’d think she’d know how it works in our family by now.
