I had my first consultant appointment yesterday due to previous emergency section. I am hoping for an elective this time round and the consultant was in agreement with my reasons for wanting this. It looks like 39 weeks is the time it will be happening if I don't go into labour before then (unlikely though as baby no.1 was born at 42 weeks)! I'll be having growth scans every 4 weeks from 28 weeks. Apparently I won't see much of my midwife if at all in the third trimester as I'll be at hospital every 4 weeks so they'll do all the urine checks etc. I have my 16 week appointment with the midwife on Friday and then I think I see her again around 25 weeks and probably won't really see her after that until baby is born and she does the home visits.

bewitchingnight · 13/04/2021 11:18

@leftitlate37 that's so amazing that your DH could feel it as well! I feel more confident today that what I can feel is actually the baby, it's so amazing! I want to feel it all the time

@Bubbles1st people are ridiculous aren't they! My friend asked me if it was planned more than once in the same conversation, I know she didn't mean anything by it but its such a weird question to ask and I don't really get what the benefit of knowing either way is!

Hopefulmummie · 13/04/2021 11:20

I had my flu jab and whopping cough injection yesterday and have woke up today feeling like I've been hit by a bus :( anyone else been the same?

FTEngineerM · 13/04/2021 11:23

@Bubbles1st I don’t get that either, my dads partner didn’t even both asking she just said ‘what contraceptive were you on? Fat lot of good that did’ 😬 We. Tried. For. Over. One. Year (for DC1).

People seem to be rude to pregnant women, more so than any other time.

leftitlate37 · 13/04/2021 11:23

It was v good timing @bewitchingnight as missed what I think the first 2 pokes were but defo got this one, its nuts I mean I know we will all feel them, but it just feels so weird there's a baby moving in there!! How does it feel for u?! And how many weeks r u?

FTEngineerM · 13/04/2021 11:23

Oh god, is there anything you can take @Hopefulmummie my whooping cough is next Monday.

Hopefulmummie · 13/04/2021 11:47

@FTEngineerM I'm not sure I can probably only take paracetamol for the pain in my arms but just feel run down like flu symptoms

bewitchingnight · 13/04/2021 12:08

@leftitlate37 yes I know what you mean, there's something alive in there! I'm 19 weeks tomorrow, at first it was sort of like a little tapping but yesterday felt like more of a squirm and less like my stomach gurgling!

Mamabearwhere · 13/04/2021 13:15

Hi ladies. Hope everyone’s feeling well. Couldn’t agree more on people making unwanted comments when you’re pregnant. I mentioned in previous threads one of my friends told me I’m crazy to have another child which upset me at the time but I’ve got over it now. The main thing that bothers me which I’m getting SO many comments on is when I tell them I’m having a boy (after 2 girls) and they respond with “oh great you got what you wanted” or “you can stop now that you have a boy as well”. DH and I genuinely had NO preference on what gender the third baby would be and wanting a boy wasn’t a reason for trying for a third. Pi me off so much. I’m tempted to start responding with “actually we were trying for another girl” just for the sake of it. Ah. People.

FTEngineerM · 13/04/2021 13:20

@Mamabearwhere that is rife! I didn’t realise how much so until we found out DC2 is going to be a boy.

Apparently we need to have another to get a girl Confused thanks for telling me what to do with my ovaries.

Scotti84 · 13/04/2021 13:50

What I find also really annoying is people saying ohhh how are you going to afford that? I want to reply with I have no idea, we will have to find a way but thank you for bringing one of the biggest worries back to the front of my mind! I've been on furlough since November so we've not got chance to save much, and our plan of i go back to work two days a week after six months is now shot as OHs job has changed also due to covid, and it won't be possible for him to have the Tuesdays off. So I'm going to have to take a year, then we've found a childminder who can have her two days a week while I work. I feel better on one side cos i get more time with her, I didn't want her with a stranger at too young an age, but that also means less money, but we will just have to budget better. I hate also ppl that know our finances aren't great atm ask if its really the right time, well no its absolutely not the best time but I'm 37 and had thought it would never happen for me so what should we do, wait until we're better off and over 40? Ugh, sorry for the rant, just so many annoyances atm!

Sillysocks998 · 13/04/2021 16:07

Hey Ladies
It's nice (not really) to know that these comments don't just occur with Asians! They are really blatant and makes you want to punch them in the face! But when it comes to these major events in life, God may not always give you what you want, but he will always give you what you need. So just remember that through, tough finances, pregnancies, gender and life! And trust that.
I Dont have any flutters etc, just feel like there's a object rolling around in my tummy and it gives me cramp and stop for a few moments. I've gained some weight. About 2kg. Putting me at 52kg! I find I eat most of my food in the day and less in the evening so really try to get my fruits and nuts in for breakfast.

My 20 week scan is 4 weeks away and I'll be 21 weeks! My tummy is so itchy! 😭. Definitely putting the coconut oil from the jar on tonight.

KHR1 · 13/04/2021 16:28

It's awful that people feel it's okay to make all these comments. We've not had many comments other than my husband been told by his nan he can get the snip now as 2 is enough...a friend also made a comment asking why we wanted another when my DD has 'issues' and whether the next one would end up like that (congenital brain defect, global delay but doing amazing) which was pretty offensive.

We had our 20 week scan today, all seems to be good! Found out I have an anterior placenta - apart from movement does anyone know if this makes a difference to anything? I completely caved after saying I didn't want to find out before so we now know we are having a little boy! I was so convinced it was going to be a girl

Kirky658 · 13/04/2021 16:53

People are such assholes. We were fortunate and only took 6 months ttc but had to have the 2 endo surgeries before we could even try. And then for colleagues to say "a lockdown baby" and "you must have been bored on furlough" I just think it's so bloody rude. Not on at all!

leftitlate37 · 13/04/2021 17:21

Congrats @KHR1!! Another boy wahoo!!
Sorry for all these comments some of you get! Do peoples filters just go off with pregnant women and they think its acceptable?
@kirky658 agree! That's outrageous. Esp when ppl have no idea how long people may have been trying, u cant just pick a month and it'll happen!
Totally different train of thought now...just picked up some maternity under the bump jeans....blooming hope they fit as else at this rate the only thing I feel comfortable in are my dog walking trousers and pjs! Not sure either is acceptable for the office tomorrow!!

Noodles4Me · 13/04/2021 17:44

Thankfully I've only had the "we know what you've been upto in lockdown" comments - can't be too offended as during lockdown I've really only done three things - work, renovate and have sex! Grin

Thought I'd get more age related comments but haven't, surprisingly!

bewitchingnight · 13/04/2021 17:45

Congrats @KHR1 glad your scan went well

Squibble84 · 13/04/2021 17:50

@KHR1 congrats on a healthy scan and finding out you’re having a baby boy! 💙

Once everyone has had their 20 week scans, we’ll have to collate a list of due dates and genders!

AdventuresAwait · 13/04/2021 18:19

@KHR1, glad you're scan went well & congratulations on finding out you're having a boy! Xx

KHR1 · 13/04/2021 18:38

Thanks @leftitlate37 @bewitchingnight and @Squibble84

KHR1 · 13/04/2021 18:45

Thanks @AdventuresAwait

Is there a time we need the whooping couch vaccine before? My memory is like a sieve at the moment and I keep forgetting to ring to book it.

Sceptre86 · 13/04/2021 19:05

@KHR1 congratulations on your baby boy, such lovely news.
As to the unwanted comments, I have been asked whether it was planned? Yes it was. Someone commented that I must want a boy as that's what my 'kind' always want. I am asian and have a dd and ds already. I don't have a preference but my dd would like a sister and my dh would like a girl so that she gets her wish. My sil has already said that she wants me to have a girl as she wants to be the dil to give the inlaws 2 boys.Confused as you can probably appreciate I give her a wide berth in general.

FTEngineerM · 13/04/2021 19:25

Congratulations @KHR1

CherylLW · 13/04/2021 19:29

I’m really sorry I can’t remember who it was who said they were waiting for them to arrive but who bought the Cake nursing bras?? I’ve had a look online and they look the dream, just wondering if anyone would recommend...

CherylLW · 13/04/2021 19:30

Congratulations @KHR1 💙
