@Kirky658 thrush is a bloody nightmare! I had a bad case of it last month but the GP prescribed me a Canestan pessary and it sorted it right out. Hang in there hun, in the meantime consider going knicker less, sorry tmi but it helps that little bit 😆

AdventuresAwait · 03/04/2021 21:56

Thanks @Kirky658! Sorry you have to wait until Tuesday and I hope that you can get something quickly then.

Also, like @CherylLW said, thanks to whoever mentioned the Baby Academy workshops. I know I was in a chat about it but can't remember if that was on here or if I saw it somewhere else first!

Kirky658 · 03/04/2021 21:59

@taybz oh deffo, I used to suffer so badly with my endometriosis with thrush so it's taken me by surprise I've got it again but I hear it is common during pregnancy. And thank you @adventuresawait, the only positive is if the GP prescribes me something it will at least be free 🤣

AdventuresAwait · 03/04/2021 22:03

Happy to answer any questions @Taybz! The whole appointment was 15 mins. Yes we got a heartbeat bear! Love it. Photos are good. You get some printed and all by email/ phone. We got loads of pics and 3 short video clips, some better than others but can't compare to other places as we've only been there.

Taybz · 03/04/2021 22:13

@AdventuresAwait thanks! last question I promise..how did the scan pictures compare to the NHS one? My NHS ones were so clear but I've seen some private scan pics that look so grainy and I'm just wondering whether I should just wait for an appointment with Window to the Womb as their quality was very good. Have you posted a pic here already?

AdventuresAwait · 03/04/2021 22:31

@Taybz, no I've not put any on here. I'm not sure how they compare as I think the difference might be just how much more you can see in the 17 week scan compared to 12 weeks. Sorry that's not much help is it?? But if you know you like the other pics, maybe go with them? We're happy with ours but I've maybe seen clearer. We have pics of baby waving, legs/feet/toes, full body and head measurement etc plus videos of her moving around etc. Think it partly delends how much baby is moving too? And I have a raised BMI which I heard can make a difference? Sorry it isn't much help. We were really, really happy with Ultrasound Direct but no experience of other places.

crobo87 · 03/04/2021 23:19
**@ftengineerm* @adventuresawait* congrats ladies!

Sorry things a bit quiet from me, we've had a mad couple of days decorating the nursery & our bedroom. I've also got bloody thrush, I've been to the chemist today and they refused to give me anything and said I need to see my gp so got to wait till Tuesday. Well annoyed and it's making me very full of temper!!
I had the same, had it twice in the last month. The midwife advised I went to another pharmacy and didn't mention I was pregnant. She said the pessaries are fine. That's what I've had both times xx

Mamabearwhere · 04/04/2021 00:04

Has anyone starting preparing their baby’s bedroom yet? I need to give the current guest room to the new baby but I’m wondering if it’s a crazy idea to keep the double bed in there plus the cot? I just imagine the double bed making like so easy for night feeds and potentially either me or hubby sleeping in there on fussy nights while one of us keeps an eye on the older two. I guess we could get rid of it in future when he starts needs more space etc. Sorry just thinking out loud I guess Hmm

Poppins2016 · 04/04/2021 01:48

@Kirky658 I'd call 111 and ask for a telephone appointment with an out of hours GP in your shoes. Thrush is so uncomfortable and it's a long time to wait until Tuesday! Or as someone else said, go to another pharmacy and don't let on that you're pregnant... Clotrimazole is fine to use, but pharmacists wont give it to you if you say you're pregnant due to licensing. It's so frustrating!

@Taybz to concur with @AdventuresAwait we also used ultrasound direct for this scan (used them for both the early viability scan and gender scans for both pregnancy’s) they’re great IMO. They give you a little 4D look as well. They’re a lot bigger in these so it’s better to have a little video where you can see them move/see more than one profile. I think that’s why they give you so many videos and stuff.

Oh god @Kirky658 don’t wait, that’s ridiculous can you text your widowed just to get confirmation this weekend then get it from pharmacy?

Kirky658 · 04/04/2021 07:22

@poppins2016 @crobo87 thanks ladies I will see how I get on.
@mamabearwhere we decorated our nursery yesterday actually I was shattered! We've gone for a jungle theme and are just waiting for the stickers we've ordered to arrive now.

Midwife=widowed

AdventuresAwait · 04/04/2021 08:17

@Taybz, I agree with @FTEngineerM. The videos are great - we could see baby waving, stretching her legs etc & it is lovely to have those to keep. They are probably my favourites of the videos/photos/reports we were sent, though I love the pictures too.
I haven't posted photos on here before (and wasn't sure whether to) but I'll try and put on a couple now.

You girls are all making me want to book a private scan just to see them again! My 20 wk isn't until 6th May (I'll be 20+1). I have 16wk appointment on Tues though so if I get to hear the heartbeat hopefully that will appease me a little! I feel so behind you lot!

@Kirky658 Oh no you can't wait until Tuesday! I'd take the advice given on here and have a little google of what's safe and then try again at another pharmacy... I know it would be free from GP but for what it costs it's got to be worth the relief!

Complete overshare here but has anyone experienced blood in their poo? 😳🙈 I know piles can be common but I didn't think this early?! I wouldn't say I've been constipated either. I've also got an awful dry rash type thing all around my mouth, particularly in one corner, which I've had before when switching contraception so I know is hormone-related perioral dermatitis but I look like a leper 😩 so much to discuss with the midwife on Tues!!!

The delightful side effects of pregnancy are just never ending!!!!

FTEngineerM · 04/04/2021 08:53

@SP2Bx yeah I’ve been getting that on and off for a few weeks, you’re not alone! I don’t know if it’s just my body but pregnancy doesn’t treat me well either 😂 I pee when I sneeze (doesn’t happen pp), I have a melasma moustache which won’t go until PP now it’ll only get darker, I have little tufts of hair around my hairline where it all fell out 4m pp, the second trimester glow = spots 😬. Just chugging on through thinking of holding my tiny baby getting me through.

Women are warriors🙌🏽

CherylLW · 04/04/2021 10:22

@Kirky658 I’ve been there too last year with thrush.. it’s horrible! They said I had to talk to a GP like they have said to you but in the end the GP prescribed me what I could have bought anywhere for much cheaper! I hope Tuesday comes round quick for you. I used to spend quite a bit of time in a shallow cool-ish bath.

@RaeRae84 it was really good wasn’t it yesterday, I assume we had the same lady. I bought the full day one for the end of July, did you? I thought them offering £50 off was amazing!

unicornpower · 04/04/2021 11:30

@SP2Bx I feel really behind too! My 16w appointment isn't until the 13th of April when I be 17 weeks and my 20 week scan isn't until May 4th! So we are similar timing I think!

Clouless · 04/04/2021 11:33

I'm about the same as you! I have my 16 week appointment on Thursday and my 20 week scan on May 5th. Smile
NommyChompers · 04/04/2021 12:40

Just place marking as I lost you all for a few threads haha.

Jay3004 · 04/04/2021 14:47

My 20 week scan isn’t until the 5th May as well and I haven’t had a date for my 16 week appointment yet even though I’m 16 weeks on Wednesday. I’ve got a private scan booked for next Sunday though so I’m excited for that.

RaeRae84 · 04/04/2021 16:59

@CherylLW no I didn't book it. Only because I'm waiting to hear back from the NCT antenatal course. Thought that might cost a bit! It was a good price though. I did make loads of notes! Does make me realise I really know nothing as well 🙈

CherylLW · 04/04/2021 17:13

@RaeRae84 there was so much information wasn’t there! I think they said they will send out an email with it all on didn’t they? I hope so! It also said it was being recorded so can hopefully watch again.
It also made me add so many more things to my already huge baby shopping list 😂

RaeRae84 · 04/04/2021 17:22

@CherylLW I must of missed that bit!! I know they post things to instagram but I don't have an account.
I know, I have told my family if they want to buy anything just get nappies & cotton wool pads as feel like we are going to need a truck load 🤣

CherylLW · 04/04/2021 17:55

I’m sure sure she said we could watch it back Incase we felt we wanted to see a specific bit again. 🤞🏼 Finger crossed anyway!
Cotton wool pads, 3 thermometers, 10 sleep suits for the hospital bag!

Hospital bag is yet another minefield! I feel the amount of stuff recommended to take I’ll need a case!!

aurora2021 · 04/04/2021 18:19

Hi all, hope it's okay if I join this thread :) I'm 16+1 with baby number 1, counting down until the 20 week scan next month and being able to feel baby move for the first time!
