@Taybz The whole sleeping on one's back thing... Basically the theory is that as the uterus gets larger (20+w), it can compress an important blood vessel. This decreases Mother's blood pressure and can reduce blood flow to the placenta and the baby. The reduced blood flow definitely occurs, but there've been some questions raised whether this actually has risks for the baby. There was in fact one study which concluded that advising women to sleep/lie exclusively on the left side is not practical and is irrelevant to the vast majority of women. Small number of pregnant women feel faint when lying on their backs. If you are not one of them, you and your baby should be fine.
HOWEVER, having said all of that, do I want to take the risk? There is a scary link between maternal sleep position and stillbirth. Therefore, I'm continuing to persevere. @Squibble84 So wish I could bring more pillows in the bed. Ours is a small double and it already feels rather squashed with me having doubled in size (exaggeration of course, but that's how it feels!) Pregnancy pillow, however, does really help!
@bluemagicalsky Feel for you girl! None of my friends who had been pregnant before ever mentioned this. All people talk about is morning sickness and "the glow"! Fingers crossed the pain eases for both of us soon rather than later xx
@FTEngineerM congratulations! How exciting! 💙 11 days until I find out
@RaeRae84 Oh I can so relate. I am constantly out of breath. I live on Brighton seafront and do not have that many hills to climb but if I have to face even a slight incline I cannot walk and talk at the same time
