Due November 2021 - thread 2!

AlackAlasAlackaday · 25/03/2021 08:15

Following on from the first thread which is nearly full, here we are with another thread to keep us going through the first trimester and beyond.

Welcome Smile. I'm Alack, currently 8+something with twins, due 2 November but likely to make an early appearance. Also have DD (3).

Currently on the group we mostly seem to be food-averse insomniacs who just want a nap, so here's hoping for some pregnancy glow! Grin And less anxiety as the weeks go on.

Lovely pic alex!

I’m the same elm - told work, friends etc after 12 week scan but tbh if I wasn’t showing (and feeling so rough!) I’d have waited longer even. It’s hard to shake the worry.

A quick question for you all since I think everyone on this thread is ahead of me (EDD 30/11), give me hope when did your sickness start to tail off?

duenov042021 · 30/04/2021 08:49

Hi guys!! SO lovely seeing all these scan pictures, long may it continue 🤍 here's some from my scan yesterday, 13 weeks! It's the long stretched leg and foot that gets me.

Think it's all starting to sink in and I'm so excited for us all ✨

Mine started to slow down around week 10/11, definitely still having morning sickness here and there tho! Hopefully you have it easier x

mrssunshinexxx · 01/05/2021 09:19

Thank you @jorisbonsonstoupe wow that's decisive 😁

The only way we can figure being able to have DH attend the scan is to tell MIL early so she can look after DS. REALLY wanted to wait and do a proper announcement with all family, once we know that everything is ok and can get fully excited, so a bit bummed, but its that or DH misses out. Any one have any ideas for a more low-key announcement that still feels a bit special?
Actually interested to hear how people are announcing anyway - love those stories!

mrssunshinexxx · 01/05/2021 16:26

@Kimblebee19 book a private scan as my local ones are allowing your children now and go to your nhs one alone ?

Katy4321 · 01/05/2021 16:42

@mrssunshinexxx @duenov042021 @dixiechick1991 and everyone else who has had scans so glad it is going well for you.
And all best for those who are waiting.

@elmcg my symptoms of feeling sick started to decrease week 9/10, but I think I have been lucky and relatively mild. Still quite tired, but not as bad as a couple of week ago.

Is any one else finding they have insomnia? I get to sleep fine, then my bladder wakes me in the early hours, and stay awake for a couple of hours, all restless. Sometimes I get up and have a bowl of cereal with milk, and then get back to sleep.

I have had two scans recently, a very detailed one when I went to a private clinic for a genetic NIPT test at just over ten weeks and the NHS at 11+4. Both went well and reassuring. I did then start having brown spotting the day after the NHS scan, but that thankfully appears to have stopped and the community midwife was reassuring, said to call epu if becomes red or continues for several days.
My combined screen came back with a chance of 1 in 34, which given my age (mid forties) I wasn't that surprised. Also from my understanding of that test it is basically trying to identify anyone who may have higher chance, so can figure out if the want to do further test. The next day I got the results of my NIPT and all is negative, which I'm so so relieved about.

@Kimblebee19 I told a couple of close friends early on for moral support, as was a bit overwhelmed. Have waited until tests back to tell mine and DP parents. Felt rather emotional, as first grandchild, and don't think mine ever expected to be grandparents. Still feeling quite cautious about it all and taking it one day at a time.
All the best with your announcement, I'm sure they will be delighted however you tell them and totally understand want DH at your scan.

Kimblebee19 · 01/05/2021 17:46

@mrssunshinexxx I did consider a private scan, but ones I looked at near me weren't allowing children and also tbh, I can't really justify the expense especially so close to the NHS scan. Thanks for the idea though!

@Katy4321 with you on the post-pee insomnia! I usually manage to fall back to sleep finally...just in time for DS to wake up 😬
Glad your NIPT went well. Ahh bet your DP's were so thrilled at the news! You're right, MIL will be very pleased however we tell her - just loved the reactions last time! And very anxious about whether everything's ok.

We were planning to get a 'Big Brothersaurus' dinosaur tshirt to have DS wear and unzip his hoody and see how long it takes for the penny to drop 😀 think I might just get a niced iced bun from the bakery and on her way through to the garden have her check the oven 'to see what i'm making for later' and put it in there. 🤷‍♀️

vixey · 01/05/2021 18:35

so for those who remember I was having my scan on the 30th.
After finding baby standing on its head, they asked me to go for a walk around the hospital grounds and do some jumping up and down. baby is perfectly healthy and happy, but wouldn't stop jumping about to get a decent picture lol 😆 xxx

vixey · 01/05/2021 18:36

oh and my due date is no longer the 8th November and is now the *6/11/21
I'm 3 days ahead of what we thought, so 13 weeks today. xxx

AlackAlasAlackaday · 01/05/2021 18:43

Lovely news vixey!

mrssunshinexxx · 01/05/2021 20:02

@Katy4321 yes the insomnia is awful had it in my last pregnancy too with a 10 month okd I am exhausted

Katy4321 · 01/05/2021 22:09

@kimblebee19 and @mrssunshinexxx
Yes post pee insomnia and LO must be extra tough - hope you get to catch up later in the day. I just have a couple of cats who liked to wake me, but they have now been restricted to different part of the house at night - although now I'm waking them with my nocturnal cereal eating!

@vixey glad your scan went well - I thought they were joking with me when they said that they make you walk around to get baby at the right angle! Sounds like a very lively one :)

vixey · 01/05/2021 22:35

@katy4321
oh I didnt expect it but yeah, little bugger wouldn't keep still lol 😆 xxx

Aisforharlot · 03/05/2021 09:54

12 week scan tomorrow, fingers crossed.
Is anyone else having to take lateral flow tests before appointments?

Crazybabylady14 · 03/05/2021 12:48

Hi @Aisforharlot I've got my 12wk scan tomorrow morning, I had a call last Friday asking my partner and I to take one if we possibly can but she did say if not possible it's ok as long as we don't go if showing any symptoms and follow usual procedures while at the hospital. Luckily I work in a key worker role so we get given lateral flow tests through the company so I have some at home in case. Good luck tomorrow!!

Katy4321 · 03/05/2021 15:27

@Aisforharlot yes we always have to do a lateral flow test before appointments and show results on phone and feels good to know everyone else has done one in the waiting room.
They are available loads of places now, such as many pharmacies
You can search here maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk/

All the best with your scans tomorrow @Aisforharlot and @crazybabylady14

Kitttycatt · 03/05/2021 15:57

@Crazybabylady14 @Aisforharlot I've also got my 12 week scan tomorrow, I'll be 13w+1 we haven't been asked to take a test, you only need one if you are staying overnight in my hospital. Cases are so low now anyway I'm not concerned.

Aisforharlot · 03/05/2021 17:59

Good luck for tomorrow all x

lboogy · 03/05/2021 18:21

I'm pregnant with twins and honestly never felt so tired in my life. 3am insomnia isn't helping either.
