Due November 2021 - thread 2!

Following on from the first thread which is nearly full, here we are with another thread to keep us going through the first trimester and beyond.

Welcome Smile. I'm Alack, currently 8+something with twins, due 2 November but likely to make an early appearance. Also have DD (3).

Currently on the group we mostly seem to be food-averse insomniacs who just want a nap, so here's hoping for some pregnancy glow! Grin And less anxiety as the weeks go on.

@Knock123 I’m going to take 12 months off, work almost all the way to the end bar a few days.

@pineapple2021 I’m feeling ok too now, was sick and nauseous until over 15 weeks this time (stopped at 12 with my DD) but I’m 16+1 now and have felt ok for a few days now. Apart from bump and the massive boobs I’d have no idea!

Aisforharlot · 05/06/2021 20:20

I felt movements last week but nothing this week. Trying not to worry about it! I'm 17 weeks tomorrow.

AlackAlasAlackaday · 05/06/2021 20:48

@Aisforharlot movements still sporadic here at 19 weeks. I also somehow expect to feel two separate people somehow (??) but can't differentiate.

@Aisforharlot movements have been really random for me as well and were easier to miss even a week ago. I'm coming up to 19 weeks now and they've become a lot stronger and more noticeable. Try not to worry yourself

Aisforharlot · 06/06/2021 11:15

@AlackAlasAlackaday Interersting, I assumed multiples would be more obvious somehow!
@Knock123 Good to know, thank you. Predictably after worrying I felt a kick this morning.

I managed to guess my new bra size ordering online, and have ended up with a perfectly fitting sports bra... I'm dead chuffed with myself.

Knock123 · 06/06/2021 12:11

Congrats on the new bra and glad you felt a kick!

Bra fitting is something I know a lot about as it's related to my job. If you're after something a bit more structured, then use the guide on this website abrathatfits.org/calculator.php
I would say it's 99% accurate which you need with changing rooms still closed. Depends how much you want to spend on bras though as obviously a sports bra is a bit more flexible for long term wear that an ubderwired bra.

vixey · 06/06/2021 12:38

ive been a bit absent from here recently, sorry guys. I hope everyone is keeping well and babys are doing OK.
I've started to feel little flutters and what feels like something clicking in my abdomen, it's such a weird feeling but just can't wait until my husband can feel it too.
I've been struggling recently with horrendous hip pain, only when I've been lying down but it's a weird kind of pain. it's like I've been lying on that side too long and it's gone so numb it hurts (if that makes sense) like having a numb bum after a long journey. but it starts when I've only been lying down for 5 minutes. means I'm getting very little sleep because I'm moving about all night. even had to get up and walk around last night just to get comfy again. I've bought two pregnancy pillows (cost a small fortune) one big and one small, neither of them make any difference. I've tried paracetamol before going to bed, ive tried lying on pillows but it gives me about 10 more minutes on one side then I have to move.
has this been a problem with anyone else?
xxxxx

sparklyblue81 · 06/06/2021 12:57

@vixey that sounds really draining- Maybe worth giving your GP or midwife a call to see if they can suggest anything? I’ve had a lot of hip/back pain in previous pregnancies but much later on.

I totally need to go bra shopping - I’ve been putting it off but only have one bra that is comfy now which is a right pain washing wise 🤣

I’ve had the mammoth task of sorting a load of bags of baby clothes that my sister needed rid off. Some of it was stuff I passed on to her from my older boys so brings back lots of memories 😍 Everything we need in NB & 0/3 plus more stuff up to toddler sizes that I just need to find somewhere to stash 🤣 All getting very real all of a sudden 😱

vixey · 06/06/2021 14:22

@sparklyblue81
I mentioned it last week to my midwife and she said its nothing to worry about. but its really fricking painful.
my midwife has literally done nothing when I've had any problems, like sending me to a&e and then being told my midwife could have dealt with it.

pineapple2021 · 06/06/2021 16:36

Just reading about all your kick feeling..... when did all of yours start? I'm 15+3 now..... thought maybe I feel some when I'm sat still but unsure if it's just digestion bubbles or nothing. First baby to have no idea what to recognise!! Exciting though. Saw bubba again yesterday as we have had a massive issue with NIPT test so this was third attempt (first lost my blood, second didnt take enough as I'm awful to get blood from)

Knock123 · 06/06/2021 19:03

@pineapple2021 mine started really low, like on my knicker line and it felt like gas bubbles but so subtle you could easily miss it. I felt it first time 16 weeks exactly. I never got the butterfly flutters everyone talks about, was more like a twitch or a pop if that helps. You may well be feeling baby if you placenta is posterior and if you're in tune with your body

Lizlou85 · 06/06/2021 21:59

I’m 15 +3 and have my 16 week mid wife appointment this week. Is anyone else mid wife only doing these over the phone or should they be done in person to check weight, size, listen for a heartbeat? I’m a first time mum so not sure if this the norm. Our town as 2 dr. Surgery but only one deals with midwifery so it’s not my normal surgery.

@Lizlou85 think it varies by trust, I'm in London and 16 week appointment was over the phone

Randomness12 · 06/06/2021 22:29

@Lizlou85 in my trust it’s by phone, unless you are resus negative which requires an additional blood test at 16 weeks in which case it’s face to face. I am resus negative so had mine last week, she did my urine as I was there and listened for the heartbeat as I asked but that was it. My next appt is at 20w (scan then consultant) then midwife at 25 weeks is by phone. Also seems to be less appointments if it’s your second/third than first.

vixey · 06/06/2021 22:40

@lizlou85
all of mine have been in person apart from my first one at 8 weeks. all have been very basic. listen to heartbeat, urine sample and blood pressure check. xxx

Garman · 06/06/2021 23:13

@vixey try going for a deep tissue massage or to a physio, and then doing some swimming and/or yoga etc, should help it.

Roopers · 07/06/2021 14:27

Afternoon everyone. :)

Can I ask some fashion advice. This is my first baby and I've got a family wedding when I'll be 24 weeks. It's in SE England so is likely to be a warm august day. Anyone have any fashion ideas / advice / brands they have used before for occasion dresses?

Katy4321 · 07/06/2021 15:12

Hi all,
Not doing so well at the moment. Found a small lump in my breast last week. Saw a GP quite quickly, expecting them to say justsomething due to pregnancy, but they gave me a 2 week referral to the breast clinic. I now understand this is quite normal to refer breast lumps urgently, and was doing quite well, and the GP did say it could be related to pregnancy. I managed to get a one-stop breast clinic appointment tomorrow, but today anxiety has really kicked in (guess tired and hormonal).

Knock123 · 07/06/2021 15:57

@Roopers try ASOS they have an amazing maternity range. Also oversized dresses are really on trend so you might find a nice tiered dress in the shops but you may find something form fitting more flattering

@Katy4321 of course you're anxious!! I believe you're correct in that they do refer any breast lumps, I've had a couple of friends referred for checks and both were nothing to worry about, I'm sure you will be the same. If the GP is saying it might be related to pregnancy, try to accept that as the info you know now and hold onto that unless you're told different. Try not to Google anything. Really massive good luck for tomorrow

Katy4321 · 07/06/2021 16:55

@knock123 thank you. Yes being something pregnancy related does feel more likely, so trying to be rational. I have tried to only do a bit of cautious googling and weirdly in my case helps a bit - as I am a cell biologist and tend to work only on serious things, so knowing there are plenty of less serious things is helpful.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/06/2021 17:57

Really hope everything is ok @Katy4321

Randomness12 · 07/06/2021 19:37

@Katy4321 I hope tomorrow comes quickly and passes without fuss. It’s more than likely nothing, they are just being extra cautious.

@Roopers Isabella Oliver have lovely occasion dresses and they now have an option to rent rather than buy for eco purposes - but helps the purse too if you are not likely to wear it again??

twoofusburningmatches · 08/06/2021 09:47

@Katy4321 Hope today goes well. I had a similar referral in my first pregnancy. I’ve had quite a few two-week referrals for breast lumps over the years (I am at higher risk and have lumpy breasts), but the referral in pregnancy was the most worrying one for me (not just me to worry about but the baby too) so I understand your concerns. Like you said though, most lumps are nothing to worry about and pregnancy hormones can easily be behind them.

Vintique · 08/06/2021 11:33

Thinking of you @Katy4321, hope it goes well today x
