Due November 2021 - thread 2!

AlackAlasAlackaday · 25/03/2021 08:15

Following on from the first thread which is nearly full, here we are with another thread to keep us going through the first trimester and beyond.

Welcome Smile. I'm Alack, currently 8+something with twins, due 2 November but likely to make an early appearance. Also have DD (3).

Currently on the group we mostly seem to be food-averse insomniacs who just want a nap, so here's hoping for some pregnancy glow! Grin And less anxiety as the weeks go on.

@ShutUpAlex I'd make a complaint to your hospitals PALS team. I was called back straight away with an apology and regular follow ups (from the lead) following the blunder. Sorry to hear about your experience. I hope you get some answers soon xx

ShutUpAlex · 21/04/2021 15:56

Thankyou I’m going to wait until the morning. All through the appointment she complained of being tired because she had worked a night shift and that she was useless that day. It’s not really acceptable.

happygolucky20 · 21/04/2021 17:28

@ShutUpAlex that’s not on and I would definitely complain, or just ask for someone else as it’s not the best start to a relationship where you’re going to need to trust her for the next 9 months!

ELMcg · 21/04/2021 18:03

@ShutUpAlex that's awful! Definitely escalate it, especially since lots of important tests and things to do at 12 week scan!

I had my booking appointment today and it was just so lovely to speak to someone! I have a new community midwife and she was so lovely about my previous MC. I'm on the low risk path still but she's giving me more folic acid and has referred me for my scan the week before my holiday where if all is well I will finally be visiting and hopefully telling family in person about the baby!

KimF64 · 21/04/2021 19:00

@LolaX94

So today marks marks the 12th day from when my bleeding initially started. Over the last couple of days it has definitely gotten better only a little bit and more or less brown which I’m hoping means it’s stopped.

I have had a fair bit of bright red and dark red blood but it’s only ever been when I’ve wiped. Not had any large clots or anything like that just the odd bit of tissue. So ready for my scan next week to have that confirmation of what’s happening. I just wind myself up though my taking more tests I’ve stopped with the digital ones and my tests still have very prominent blue lines so it’s just a waiting game now.

Hope you ladies are all ok xx

I bled for 2 weeks, from week 5-7, had scan at 8 weeks and all well. Saw heartbeat. Fingers crossed for you x
twoofusburningmatches · 21/04/2021 19:03

Hello, can I join? Am 10 weeks today and had my booking in app earlier. No scan for me until 13+ weeks. It’s my second pregnancy and very different to when I was expecting my first child. Much, much, much less vomiting this time round, which makes me wonder if all is okay. Reading about all your sad MMC has freaked me out even more! Hope everyone is feeling okay!

LolaX94 · 21/04/2021 19:21

Ah Kim! I do have my fingers crossed I hope to be in that position thank you! Xx

Milehigh · 21/04/2021 21:10

Hi all, can I join? I’m 8+4 due 27/11/21. Had my blood apt today with midwife. 1st pregnancy and a surprise one at that! Have been struggling a lot with nausea and vomiting for the past three weeks. It’s a lonely time when you aren’t really telling anyone yet so found this thread and it’s been very reassuring. Have also requested to join FB group. Sending you all love x

Randomness12 · 22/04/2021 02:53

I second going to PALS @ShutUpAlex I think that the referral not being made can be rectified and they can support you with booking your scan in the right time frame but her approach was really unprofessional and needs to be investigated - even if that is to highlight that she shouldn’t have been there after a night shift so they may need more staff etc or to revisit rotas.

ShutUpAlex · 22/04/2021 07:26

It’s really bad because I have bipolar and obviously being pregnant means I can’t take my medication and I’m supposed to be closely managed by a special mental health midwife team and no referral has even been made!

pineapple2021 · 22/04/2021 08:00

Has anyone else got weird smell aversions? Mine is to my own home..... it's really horrid. Every time I walk in the house I smell it and feel like I'll throw up!

AlackAlasAlackaday · 22/04/2021 08:29

Welcome @twoofusburningmatches and @Milehigh!

Good news @ELMcg - nice to have a date to look forward to.

@ShutUpAlex perhaps if you're not feeling up to it your partner or a friend could contact PALS? Otherwise just the bare facts - "I am x weeks pregnant, suffer with bipolar disorder, my MW failed to make a referral for the 12 week scan for me, I can't get hold of her and I am concerned that appropriate care is not in place for me and my baby" - should do it.

Had a 12 week scan on Tuesday and told families and my work. Feels a bit more real but could the nausea please fuck off now? Grin

pineapple - yes! We basically can't cook anymore, I can't cope with the smell. The toddler is delighted by all the picnics, not sure DH is so keen though.

pineapple2021 · 22/04/2021 09:07

@AlackAlasAlackaday horrid isn't it! I've got diffusers going, candles, cleaning like mad and there is just this horrid house smell. Partner can't smell it so I can't even explain it to him.

happygolucky20 · 22/04/2021 09:36

@AlackAlasAlackaday How did everyone cope with the news of twins? Love the "can the nausea please fuck off now".

I am only 8weeks5Days and the nausea has knocked me for 6 again during the past 24 hours. I had a phew "lighter days" with it and now sat in online meetings sucking lemon sherbets to stop vomiting.

duenov042021 · 22/04/2021 09:53

12 weeks yesterday guys and still throwing up on a morning every now n then, had a scan shown previously at 10 weeks and have another scan at 13+1 so really getting excited now!! Actually had a dream I'm having a baby girl last night and I'm actually kinda hoping for a boy, but the dream definitely made me just want a healthy baby! So sorry for everyone experiencing a loss, it's hard but keep positive!! Sending love! ♥️

Grinningcat · 22/04/2021 10:07

I've got my booking appointment later today. An actual in person one which I'm quite impressed by as I was expecting it to be over the phone.
Had a second scan last week to check on the Sub-choronic hematoma - it was only slightly smaller, but little one was developing as expected and they suggested I was a couple of days further along which fits with my previous pregnancy.
My spotting has tailed off for now. It was mostly dark brown since the big bleed 3.5 weeks ago. Still knackered, and oh the bloating and discomfort... still I've not throwing up like some of you lovely ladies so I'm counting my blessings. This pregnancy feels very much like when I was pregnant with DS so my money's on it being another boy.

monnis · 22/04/2021 10:27

Just had my first mini chunder in the loos at work. So glamorous!
Up to this point the nausea has been pretty intense at times, but no actual puking until now, 10+4 today

ShutUpAlex · 22/04/2021 10:55

Just got off the phone with PALS , they can’t seem to contact this midwife either. They said to leave it with them and they will try and get it sorted today.

AlackAlasAlackaday · 22/04/2021 15:16

@ShutUpAlex they sound a bit more proactive at least. I hope you'll have a resolution today.

@happygolucky20 @duenov042021 @Grinningcat I'm sorry that you're also still in the trenches with nausea/vomiting. I'm getting through a lot of Trebor mints and not much else.

How did everyone cope with the news of twins?

Clearly both parents were expecting news of another baby when we sat them down but then it was like, "What, two? Oh shit wow." And my work was mainly relieved that I hadn't found another job, so that was good Grin.

TTCBaby1 · 22/04/2021 16:56

@heartandheart weeks 7-10 were the worst but manageable it was a constant feeling of nausea and tiredness but as of week 10 it's definately easing and I feel like a warrior with two and only having these symptoms 👊🏻😆

vixey · 22/04/2021 19:53

as daft as this sounds, I'm so happy to see a post about December 21 babys. we arent the earliest mums on here anymore 😃

ELMcg · 22/04/2021 21:11

@TTCbaby1 it's some comfort to hear you say you feel better at 10 weeks! I'm just over 8 weeks and feel like a shell of a human 😂. Today was nausea from 7am until now. I've taken myself to bed as can't cope anymore!

happygolucky20 · 23/04/2021 10:47

Feeling particularly pathetic today. Started throwing up after breakfast and just the thought of food makes me dry heave, yet I know really the way to keep the sickness at bay is to keep eating.
Had my DD 11 years ago when I was 24 and honestly can’t remember it being this tough.
Sorry, just needed to moan. I know I can take tablets but after my MMC last year, I’m slightly scared of putting something in my body when I “should” be able to ride this out. Just a moaning post, sorry!

ShutUpAlex · 23/04/2021 11:17

So the midwife that fucked up my referrals has gone on annual leave! A different midwife phoned me last night and she made all my referrals there and then. Said I might even get a phone call from the hospital today with my scan appointment. Such a nightmare but relived it’s all sorted.
