Due November 2021 - thread 2!

Following on from the first thread which is nearly full, here we are with another thread to keep us going through the first trimester and beyond.

Welcome Smile. I'm Alack, currently 8+something with twins, due 2 November but likely to make an early appearance. Also have DD (3).

Currently on the group we mostly seem to be food-averse insomniacs who just want a nap, so here's hoping for some pregnancy glow! Grin And less anxiety as the weeks go on.

I've been told to take 150mg aspirin from 12 weeks, she said it would help avoid pre eclampsia but I never had this advice in my other pregnancies.

My household is busy but I have two adult children so lots of people waiting to live and help with this baby🙂 especially since I'm a geriatric mother 🤗

mrssunshinexxx · 05/04/2021 11:37

@monnis I was at high risk of developing preeclampsia due to family history but luckily didn't get it last time I was on aspirin 12-37 weeks I will be on it again this time

monnis · 05/04/2021 11:50

Thanks @mrssunshinexxx and @jorisbonsonstoupe. Yes fellow geriatric mother here (such a flattering term 😂) but no idea what I'm letting myself in for as is first time. Thankfully have 2 lovely step daughters aged 12 and 14 who I'm sure will be amazing. Exciting times ahead for us all 😊

Hi ladies! Just poking my head round the door. I’m 31 and a FTM, currently 6+1 and due 28/11 as things stand. I’ve got an early scan in a couple of weeks so I’m just counting down the days til that! I’ll join the FB group too but wanted to say hi here first.

Congratulations @Hannah94L on your amazing news. That must be exciting and terrifying and all sorts, all at the same time!

onlyhereforthefood · 05/04/2021 17:04

@Hannah94L wow, what awesome news!

Hi!! Just wondering how long it took everyone to hear back from blood tests? They're the early blood tests to determine my blood type, iron levels, chance of Down's syndrome etc. The nurse told me would hear by the end of last week but nothing has been uploaded to pregnancy app. Any help is much appreciated :)

Sugarskulllover · 05/04/2021 19:47

@duenov042021 I didn't have an app in my last pregnancy so not sure if they have that now (I'm based in the West Midlands) I had my blood type at my booking in bloods and I had the letter for downs etc after my 12 week scan I think and it was by letter. They said if there was anything that came up I'd get a phone call. Hope that helps

Randomness12 · 05/04/2021 20:11

I am so, so sorry @PinkElephant7 I hope you are recovering as well as you can.

Hi @duenov042021 The downs risk is calculated as a combined test which includes the results from the nuchal fold measurement on the back of the babies neck which is taken during your 12 week scan so you won’t get that until after your scan.

All the other bloods are tested before that but the generally only contact you if there is something you need to know/do such as low iron needing supplements - I’m rhesus negative so I got a call about that last time which was terrifying as I thought something was wrong!

Randomness12 · 05/04/2021 20:13

I have my first midwife appt by phone on Wednesday, just the booking in with all the demographic questions and family health. Then bloods etc are the following week. Feels like a nice milestone. Thinking of booking an early scan for approx 9 weeks but not sure.

mrssunshinexxx · 05/04/2021 20:29

I had booking app last wed and have bloods this wed really hoping I get my scan date through the post by Friday

Randomness12 · 05/04/2021 20:33

Hopefully it won’t be too long @mrssunshinexxx

Is anyone thinking of having a NIPT+ test privately? They are £400 at ultrasound direct but I’m thinking it might be worth investing?

mrssunshinexxx · 05/04/2021 20:40

@Randomness12 hope not ! X
No I didn't have screening last time and definitely won't be this time, personal choice of course

Hi, just joined the thread. I'm 8+3 and feeling very nauseous and lethargic.

nchristie · 05/04/2021 20:59

@Randomness12 I'm getting private NIPT in a couple of weeks.

Of course @mrssunshinexxx I had the nhs screening with DD, but as I’m older now (34) I know the risks increase and the NIPT seems to be more accurate.

Hi @nchristie and congrats! Where are you getting it done please? There is an ultrasound direct near me which offers it and also a private hospital.

Soopyjoopy · 05/04/2021 21:35

Hi all, I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and really scared. Trc for 12 years before adopting my beautiful baby boy last year, then totally unexpectedly a cple weeks ago.......boom bfp!!!! My boobs are horrifically painful all the time and feeling quite nauseous, sick about 2am as well. So worried something bad will happen

Soopyjoopy · 05/04/2021 21:40

Im also feeling very old at nearly 40, keep questioning every twinge, and have early scan booked at 8+3.
Booking in with midwife next monday

mrssunshinexxx · 05/04/2021 22:33

Oh wow @Soopyjoopy you must be feeling very emotional how wonderful xx

nchristie · 06/04/2021 07:25

@Randomness12 I'm getting my NIPT at The Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley Street, London. They do the Harmony Test and two ultrasounds at 10 and 12 weeks for £400.

Soopyjoopy · 06/04/2021 09:24

Feeling all over the place! One 1 minute so excited, the next petrified! Cant believe it!
mrssunshinexxx · 06/04/2021 11:07

It will be amazing @Soopyjoopy

sheslikebutter · 06/04/2021 17:09

Firstly, congratulations to everyone!

Hi all, I'm 7+3, due 20th November according to my dates. Have booking in appt on 21st April then hopefully a scan sometime in May.

I'm really anxious as I lost my baby girl 4 years ago next Tuesday at 21 weeks. I thought I'd get a reassurance scan at 8 weeks but don't even see the midwife until 9 weeks. Saw her at 6 weeks last time. Hopefully it'll all be OK but scared. I don't want to get a private scan as it's a lot of money for us.

In terms of symptoms I'm feeling food averse, not necessarily nauseous but my stomach feels full all the time and I just can't eat much.
