I got my vaccine text and letter too, but can't get an appointment anywhere close so I will wait until my GP has something available. My husband is fully vaccinated so that makes me less nervous about the virus.

Jelliestogether · 23/05/2021 12:52

I've also been offered the vaccine but I've decided not to take it. But its a personal decision for everyone individually

lilomum · 23/05/2021 13:00

I got my letter through also. I phoned them up to find out a bit more. It'll definitely be Pfizer or Moderna for pregnant women over the age of 35. I'm happy with that and am looking forward to getting the vaccine. I'm mainly working from home and not really exposed but I feel it's the right thing to do for me and those around me. I got the whooping cough vaccine a couple of weeks ago also as it's routinely offered to pregnant women and had no issue whatsoever with it. Who knows, maybe we even feel confident enough to travel a bit this summer (within the UK), especially if we have had the second dose by then.

Cpr12 · 23/05/2021 13:53

My scan is Tuesday. Can’t wait to see all is ok!

I can get the vaccine but am unsure. Going to speak to the midwife. It is daft as normally we would just be blissfully unaware the long term side effects of things are unknown.....

Jaymar · 23/05/2021 15:16

I absolutely agree it’s a personal decision. We will all be weighing up different risks. I think I’ll go for it because I have asthma.

rtz22 · 23/05/2021 15:26

Yes, the vaccine is a tough and personal decision. I've decided to take it having read all the info available and talked to my doc. My 1st jab is next Saturday. Also a factor is my asthma and line of work, so it all plays into it. Wish everyone the best with their decisions too 😊

lilomum · 23/05/2021 15:27

Totally. People have very different risk profiles and risk aversion levels. I've been having this conversation with a friend recently. Also expecting but already had Covid (confirmed). She decided against the vaccine and wants to rely on antibodies until after the pregnancy. Totally get that too

sargeantsaltnpepper89 · 23/05/2021 15:49

Hey ladies sorry just been catching up with all your posts! I've been quiet recently as we've all had covid so have been absolutely floored 😴😔 feeling much better though! Sickness has gone and apart this lingering chesty cough I'm feeling really good! I also have an anterior placenta so now being 19 weeks am feeling baby move but still a bit limited and varies from day to day, I have our 20 week scan on the 3rd of June but after having covid we went for a reassurance and gender scan today and baby is doing great got to hear heartbeat for the first time as 16 week app was via telephone and found out we are having a BOY! After 2 girls we are over the moon! Obviously a healthy baby is all that matters but myself and my husband are still in shock lol 😆 my eldest daughter is over the moon too as she was really hoping for a wee brother💖 hope all you ladies are keeping well ! X

Rmka · 23/05/2021 16:37

@sargeantsaltnpepper89, congratulations :)
Glad all is well and you recovered from covid. It must have been stressful, but at least now you know the baby is fine Smile

Kona84 · 23/05/2021 16:41

19 weeks today.
I had my First Pfizer vaccine On Thursday.
I did debate it for a while but then I weighed up the risks of getting covid with a bmi of 31 and aged 37 and in third trimester.
Against what we already know about these types of vaccines and the 90,000 American women that have had it already and I decided to get it done.
I had a sore arm the next day but nothing else.

@Rmka thanks lovely ! Still a bit of a shock as even though I was convinced baby was a boy I still can't quite believe it either as this is the first boy in dh family for quite some time ,so we were all half expecting a girl😂 would have been delighted either way though💕 yeah was so worried as I was really quite poorly and literally couldn't eat or drink properly for a good 3-4 day then had the most horrific sickness for about a week, so glad that part is over as I wouldn't wish that on anyone 🙈 was lovely to have scan and see that baby was doing well and moving about, really looking forward to my 20 week scan now but feeling so much better as I've admittedly been a bit if a worry wart the last couple of weeks🙈😅

mooloop · 23/05/2021 17:07

Aww @sargeantsaltnpepper89 can't believe you've had covid! You poor thing. Glad you're feeling better though! And congratulations on your little boy 😍 how exciting!

I'll be genuinely over the moon with either a boy or a girl but I'm soooo impatient to find out now 😂 I'm convinced I'm having a boy though, I've dreamt it was a boy twice now 👶🏼

Cpr12 · 23/05/2021 17:25

@sargeantsaltnpepper89 gosh, so glad you are feeling better! I am sure being a worry wart was 100% justified, very scary! And congrats on the boy, lovey news!! My sister has a whole brood of boys, after her first being a girl so I think we all want a girl here but will see haha!

@mooloop as soon as I found out I was pregnant I thought girl, but now I just can’t place it, like you will be happy with either but do think I want a girl! When do you find out?

Still waiting to feel movement here it is so weird to be told baby is moving so much but still feel nothing!

mooloop · 23/05/2021 18:03

@Cpr12 14th June, feels like forever away! Are you going to find out or leave the surprise until baby arrives?

Cpr12 · 23/05/2021 19:00

@mooloop not long, I found the last few weeks have flown in so hopefully they do for you too! My husband is desperate to find out and can’t even keep my Christmas presents a secret so if he knows, I may as well know 😂

Missreginafalange · 23/05/2021 20:51

@Kona84

I had mine about 2 weeks ago, had Pfizer and like you had a sore arm for about 12 hours.

Like you I was concerned about getting Covid in 3rd trimester, being 41 and the fact I had high blood pressure at 38 weeks pregnant last time and had to be induced early. I did a lot of research and spoke to an epidemiologist about the Rna part of the vaccine and felt very comfortable in my decision. It's not the right choice for everyone but I felt it was for me.

Jl2020 · 24/05/2021 07:37

Good luck to all those with 20 week scans this week ❤️ They seem to have come round so quick after everyone waiting for their 12 week scans! I only just have my 16 week midwife appointment this morning, hoping I get to hear the heartbeat as so anxious not having a bump or feeling pregnant atm. I'm not sure if it's something they do or not in my area but hoping they do 🤞🏼

Cpr12 · 24/05/2021 09:41

@jl2020 hopefully they do, fingers crossed!

@kona84 @Missreginafalange glad you guys have had it! I am still totally in two minds, but your point of third trimester and age wasn’t something I had really thought of! I am definitely leaning towards getting it though.

if it puts your mind at ease slightly, a friend had her vaccines at 25 weeks and 32 week pregnant (before the advice changed) as she was incredibly worried about getting covid and was very anxious about the whole thing. she gave birth 4 weeks ago to a perfect little girl.

Jl2020 · 24/05/2021 11:15

I got to hear the heartbeat so feel much better now :)

I haven't been offered the covid vaccine yet but after speaking to my midwife and looking at research online I don't think I am going to have it but it is a personal choice for everyone and everyone just needs to do what they feel is best for them xx

Cpr12 · 24/05/2021 12:37

@jl2020 wonderful news! So happy all went well! It is such a nice thing to hear isn’t it?!

@Missreginafalange that is good to hear! Definitely more on the get vaccinated side of things than not! The more I hear the better 😊 xx

Jl2020 · 24/05/2021 13:27

@Cpr12 it is, such a nice thing to hear just still hard to believe there is actually a baby in me 😂 I'm booked in for a private gender scan this Sunday aswell even though after being 99% sure it was a boy I'm now thinking it may be a girl due to nub theory and also the sound of heartbeat theory if they are anything to go on lol xx

Juicytoot287 · 24/05/2021 17:11

Good afternoon Ladies,

So interesting seeing all the thoughts on the vaccine. I was totally anti-getting it due to the unknowns etc. But with everything easing and working as a Secondary School which is quite large I am now leaning towards it. Normal BMI and I am fairly young too, so no risk factors just the known risk of Covid looming over with noone distancing anymore...

On a side note we have a gender reveal on saturday and found out we are having a baby girl!! So strange not saying 'it' anymore lol. Have told my first fur child she will be a big sister too 😂😂.

Definitely believe I am feeling movements too, like a rippling feeling in the same spot different days or occasions (17w 4d here) - can't wait till the first thump though

Juicytoot287 · 24/05/2021 17:11

working as a Secondary School Teacher sorry

Cpr12 · 24/05/2021 19:10

@jl2020 I had never heard of the heartbeat theory. So you will just be guessing for the next 4 weeks then 😂

@juicytoot287 ah congrats!!! Was the fur baby excited? I swear neither of mine have any clue I am pregnant, so much for intuition!

Randomly after this conversation I got my blue letter today. Vaccine is on the 2nd. Going to go for it I think!
