Bad news at 20 week scan, please help.

I hope someone can tell me their experiences from something similar. I have just been told at my 20 week scan my little girl has something seriously wrong with her heart. I have been referred to the fetal medication unit to see a specialist cardiologist tomorrow. She is moving so much, heartbeat has been strong since was 6 and a half weeks pregnant, everything else like her brain, kidneys etc look fine but something is so badly wrong with her heart. I'm so confused 😥. The consultant at the hospital didn't say what he thought it looked like but he said it was serious and I will probably be given options, one being it is fixable, another is ending the pregnancy which we refuse to do! I am 21 weeks pregnant now so more than half way and I can't even think about ending it. All I know is she doesn't have the normal 4 chambers etc like a heart should have. Sorry I don't have much more information than this, we don't get to take notes away home with us at our hospital. Any input would be appreciated 💗

Sorry forgot to mention my down syndrome screening bloods came back as 1 in 99,000

OP I am so very sorry to read your update. I wish there was something we could say to help. A friend of mine lost her twins a couple of months ago and she had their little footprints put on a necklace. I'm sure the hospital will have things like this for you to do, but it might be worth thinking about what things you can do to remember her. Do you have a name for her? x

I was in a similar situation a few years ago, and found the charity ARC very helpful. Please ty and contact them, and also ask your hospital for help from their specialist support midwives

Unfortunately it was alot worse than the consultant at the hospital thought. She would be lucky to survive birth and if she did then she would be lucky to survive the first year of her life. She is a very unwell baby 💔. I have had an amnio done, I am in alot of pain as they had to try 3 times and been told to think about what to do next. It looks like our baby girl will be born sleeping next week 💔.

I’ve been there. My girl was born sleeping at 21 weeks due to a fatal diagnosis. My labour with her was genuinely a lovely experience and meeting her was beautiful despite the obvious heartbreak. Dear OP, we went through similar 24 years ago. It was incredibly painful but I can promise that eventually it you come to terms with it and the pain fades.
