I hope someone can tell me their experiences from something similar. I have just been told at my 20 week scan my little girl has something seriously wrong with her heart. I have been referred to the fetal medication unit to see a specialist cardiologist tomorrow. She is moving so much, heartbeat has been strong since was 6 and a half weeks pregnant, everything else like her brain, kidneys etc look fine but something is so badly wrong with her heart. I'm so confused 😥. The consultant at the hospital didn't say what he thought it looked like but he said it was serious and I will probably be given options, one being it is fixable, another is ending the pregnancy which we refuse to do! I am 21 weeks pregnant now so more than half way and I can't even think about ending it. All I know is she doesn't have the normal 4 chambers etc like a heart should have. Sorry I don't have much more information than this, we don't get to take notes away home with us at our hospital. Any input would be appreciated 💗

Sorry forgot to mention my down syndrome screening bloods came back as 1 in 99,000

Thank you everyone ❤, just getting ready to leave soon. Does anyone know if you need a full bladder for the scans at the fetal medicine unit?x

Good luck OP Flowers

If it makes you feel any better, a relative of mine had a baby 3 years ago. She was diagnosed with Double Inlet Left Ventricle (DILV) at the 20 week scan. She had to have surgery soon after birth, and another operation a year later, but she’s doing amazingly well!

I can only imagine how hard it must be to find out something is wrong, but the doctors are incredible at what they do, and the more they know now, the more prepared they can be for when your baby is born. I really hope things work out well for you ❤️ Xx

I hope you get good news today OP. My DD has a congenital heart defect but is doing very well. The Tiny Tickers charity might be able to provide some support.

Just seen this. You poor thing, I do hope the consultant is more positive than you might be expecting. Good luck.

SenoraSurf · 11/03/2021 16:46

Hope they gave you some more info OP, so sorry you're going through this.

DuckyMcDuck · 11/03/2021 17:05

My baby was diagnosed with left heart syndrome when I was 20 weeks pregnant 15 years ago. If I can help in any way, please feel free to send me a personal message if you have any questions.

2bazookas · 11/03/2021 17:34

So sorry to hear this.

I suggest you take with you, a notebook and pen. Before you go, write down all the questions you need answers to, so you won't miss any out at the hospital.

During the appointment, take notes of what they tell you and if you don't understand anything, say so right away and ask the DR to explain it again. So much new information under high stress, is terribly hard to take in and keep straight.

      We're all thinking of you.
PurBal · 11/03/2021 17:38

I hope the appointment answered the questions that needed answering OP. Thinking of you.

Unfortunately it was alot worse than the consultant at the hospital thought. She would be lucky to survive birth and if she did then she would be lucky to survive the first year of her life. She is a very unwell baby 💔. I have had an amnio done, I am in alot of pain as they had to try 3 times and been told to think about what to do next. It looks like our baby girl will be born sleeping next week 💔.

Thank you everyone for all your well wishes I really do appreciate it so much x
