Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cher1981 · 10/03/2021 17:17

@MF1981 😂😂 I have my booking in appointment on Friday and don’t quite know what to expect. Was it mainly taking details?

@Doremifasol I’m eating a lot more than usual in between waves of nausea. More savoury stuff than sweet! Today it’s the tiredness that’s plaguing me though 😴

@cher1981 yeah it was almost an hour of questions and paperwork and then I had to go and see them the following day for bloods, blood pressure and to give a urine sample. That was a laugh as well - I barely squeezed any pee out!

calmcat · 12/03/2021 12:59

Is anyone else on this feed an egg donor recipient? I am not sure if this matters in terms of my NHS care when i get discharged from my clinic (a while off yet, my viability scan at 6+4 is next week, trying to stay relaxed and not google is hard work)- I am 42 so there are associated risks for pregnancy, I'm fit and healthy but still 42, but the embryo is from a much younger donor in her late 20's so for example the baby wont have the Downs risk for my age group along with other risks, I'm not sure how the NHS will handle this and if I wonder if just keeping quiet and letting them apply all the extra tests and scans that a "geriatric" mother receives. Any thoughts?

MF1981 · 12/03/2021 15:39

@calmcat at the midwife appointment they ask a lot of questions about health background and issues in the family of both you and partner (if you have one). So I guess they’re also assessing for any genetic issues/risks that might occur with the baby as well as with you. So for that reason I think I would be open and honest with them about the donor.

calmcat · 12/03/2021 16:14

@MF1981 yes you are right. As you can imagine we know very little, just hair, eye and skin colour and her nationality. Donors are screened to an extent by the clinic so I will make a note to ask what they screen for and I can share that with the midwife at least.
I'm feeling crap today, last few days started to feel sick when hungry, also lightheaded if low blood sugar and having a nap about 5pm after work. I think I need to switch to little and often for eating.

calmcat · 15/03/2021 12:55

Hi Everyone, I hope you had a good weekend?
Can I ask a question about morning sickness and everyone's experiences?

I think i have it mildly but would be good to get your experiences too. I have an underlying slightly unwell feeling, feeling a mix of nausea and hunger when hungry that goes after I eat for a short time. I've seen it described as like sea sickness or like a hangover and that is a better way of explaining how I feel- a bit dizzy when i get up from my desk and travel sick when I'm a passenger in a car. I'm going off some foods that i love and thinking of some foods turns my stomach. So its sort of a general feeling of grim-ness. By about 4pm i am exhausted and need a nap (im working from home) but then wake feeling gross until i eat dinner and then all evening im fine. Reassuring to have symptoms but almost not worthy of being a symptom because it feels mild when it could be much worse but still not nice.

Sunbird24 · 15/03/2021 16:24

@calmcat I feel the same way - had a 4hr drive today and it felt like mild seasickness!

kikisparks · 15/03/2021 17:06

That’s basically exactly how I feel @calmcat although I did have a moment last night when I thought I was going to vomit but nothing came of it.

I’ve gone off most foods too, I’m mostly eating the same few things, rice crispies; baked potato with margarine and plain salad of iceberg lettuce and carrots; Mayo and tomato sandwiches; plain noodles with tomatoes and edamame beans. I’m snacking on fruit (anything tangy), plain crisps, ice lollies, fruit smoothie, crackers, plain pancakes, ginger biscuits, and boiled sweets. Last night for dinner I didn’t fancy anything so ate a tin of peaches and a slice of toast with jam. I’m worried at how unhealthy this all is and although I’m managing to squeeze in 5 fruit and veg a day, how little protein I’m getting, but I really can’t face much of the usual lentils, beans, nuts, seeds and green leafy veg I used to eat. I did have some tofu one day because DH made it for me but I hate being in the kitchen right now so try to spend as little time cooking as I can.

Like you I have a nap every day and feel awful after it but I can’t keep my eyes open.

calmcat · 15/03/2021 17:48

@kikisparks its good to hear your symptoms, you are doing really well with the fruit and veg and the edamame beans have protein in at least. Im getting protein and veg at dinner time but the rest of the day I'm on beige food only! I have some healthy home made granola with seeds, nuts, flax, Blueberries, yoghurt, apricots, but since about thursday I just can't face it so I've had crunchy nut corn flakes, sooo bad for me! My OH is doing most cooking and the kitchen is like a bomb site, sticky light switches, handles etc hes like a teenager, great food though and being a bloke hes serving up steaks and chicken wings etc so lots of protein. Oh and im sick of bloody avocados, ive had about 5 a week since 2 weeks before the FET.

kikisparks · 17/03/2021 22:12

How is everyone doing? I had my viability scan today and it went really well, could see the little one moving about in the sac and measuring at 7+2 which is only one day off. The nurse also said she could see a strong heartbeat. My DH who previously said he wasn’t interested in scan photos is in total awe and keeps looking at the picture. Feeling so lucky to get this far but there’s still a long road ahead. Hope everyone else is well.

Sunbird24 · 17/03/2021 22:31

Amazing Kiki!
I’m going for a private one on Friday at 6+5 as the one with the clinic isn’t until 8+1 and I’m too impatient.

calmcat · 17/03/2021 22:44

@kikisparks congratulations that is amazing news I am so pleased for you.

Mine is Monday and I keep getting a vision of being in the scan room at that moment they tell you what they see, the closer it gets the more terrified I feel.

I read somewhere that the miscarriage rate drops to a tiny tiny percentage after they see a heartbeat so its very positive stuff!

kikisparks · 18/03/2021 07:35

Thanks @Sunbird24 @calmcat good luck for your scans, not too long away!

MF1981 · 18/03/2021 15:35

Great news @kikisparks !!

cher1981 · 19/03/2021 10:51

That's lovely news @kikisparks and good luck for yours too @Sunbird24 and @calmcat

I've been quiet because I'm so tired! 9 week 5 days along and I feel semi-nauseous and exhausted constantly. I'm sure working 7 out of the last 8 days hasn't helped either and am looking forward to some days off! How's everyone else feeling? Also, has anyone dared buy anything yet... I may have purchased a tiny baby grow that says 'Worth the wait little one' one it Blush

calmcat · 19/03/2021 12:25

@cher1981 I am pleased you are ok- well obviously except for the tiredness and nausea etc but they are good signs despite feeling crap. 9+5 is fab! the baby grow sounds cute, I think its nice to buy something to acknowledge things are real.

I'm 6+1 today, scan Monday, excited and terrified all in equal measure.

I find that being distracted stops me noticing the nausea, work helps when its busy, although I suspect if and when the nausea gets worse I wont be able to distract myself so well.

Sunbird24 · 19/03/2021 12:26

Looks like one of the 2 embryos has taken! Should be 6+5, measuring around 6+0 but I know at this stage it’s not very exact. There was a tiny little flutter of heartbeat though so fingers crossed... Next scan is the official one with the clinic on the 29th.

kikisparks · 19/03/2021 12:43

Ah that’s so lovely @Sunbird24 great news!

@cher1981 definitely sounds like you need a few days off. I bought a babygro years ago that I was going to use to announce pregnancy to my DH which has “come on daddy you can do this” on it and signs for the arms and legs, as he knows nothing about babies (I also know very little to be fair!) I didn’t end up ever using it for the announcement of any of the pregnancies to him though (just thrust the test at him haha) which I’m glad about as it might be a bit sad if I’d used it for an earlier unsuccessful pregnancy. I’ll just wait and give it to him much later assuming we continue to be lucky and things work out. Probably won’t buy anything else until after the 20 week scan but only because I’m so nervous. A “worth the wait” one sounds nice.

calmcat · 19/03/2021 13:01

@sunbird24 congratulations!!!

MF1981 · 19/03/2021 18:32

Great news @Sunbird24 !

I’m 10 weeks tomorrow and still feeling crazy tired and nauseous. Had a really horrible dizzy spell on Wednesday afternoon which was quite scary. Feels great to be getting towards double figures though!

calmcat · 22/03/2021 21:40

Hi all, my scan went well, they saw a heartbeat and dated me 6+3, one day earlier than we thought.
I'm so relieved and have the next scan in 2 weeks. I'll sleep well tonight. I can hardly believe it.
We drove straight to my parents to tell them.
Sadly my father in law was diagnosed with bowel.cancer this morning and OH doesn't want to tell them yet as they have enough on their plate snd its still early days for us.
A bittersweet day.

kikisparks · 23/03/2021 07:29

@calmcat that’s amazing news about your scan. I’m so sorry to hear about your father in law though what awful news Flowers

cher1981 · 23/03/2021 10:10

@calmcat Congratulations, that's lovely. It's so special seeing the scan isn't it? I hope everything goes as well as it possible can for your father in law.

@kikisparks and @cher1981 thank you x

Sunbird24 · 25/03/2021 14:37

@calmcat so pleased your scan went well. Sorry to hear about FIL - hopefully it’s been caught in time, and your lovely news will be a good lift for DPIL.
