Just wondering anyone who has done IVF here, have you got in touch with your GP or local midwife service yet?

I've got a 7/6 week scan next week at my clinic but if that goes well I think I'm discharged so just wondering if now is the time to get in touch and sort out a midwife, or if its still too soon.

Gabby1234 · 02/03/2021 09:54

Hi @Folklore9074 this is an IVF pregnancy for me too. Last time I had the 7 week scan and then referred myself I think. My clinic discharge at the 9 week scan, so I'm wondering if I waited until then, but that doesn't seem long until the 12 week appointment so it must have been the first scan.

Folklore9074 · 02/03/2021 10:15

@Gabby1234 Thanks for that, really helpful. I'd prefer to wait to refer until next week's scan so I know that things are looking okay just not quite sure what to expect or do!

lockdownbabyx · 02/03/2021 12:06

Morning all, just wondering if anyone else is finding themselves really emotional? The last 2 days I've just felt so down and keep crying over nothing. My DP just left for work and I burst into tears after he left! I just don't know what's wrong with me 🤦🏻‍♀️. Please tell me this is normal x

Folklore9074 · 02/03/2021 12:29

@lockdownbabyx this is my first but I think really feeling your feelings is definitely normal with all the hormones. I've been a bit more clingy with my partner this last week or two and I'm not really the clingy sort.

1992EM · 02/03/2021 16:05

@lockdownbabyx yes , but at really random stuff. Like if I can't find something or watch something on TV, doesn't even have to be sad 🤣

I phoned the doctor today and everything is fine. They just wanted to let me know my levels are good. Just so bizarre they would give me all the results bar one to tell me it is fine. Ended up worried all night for no reason x

@1992EM @Folklore9074 oh good I'm glad I'm not alone lol I felt fetter after I had a good cry and went for a walk with my mum 😂. Hormones are so bizarre.

@1992EM oh I'm so glad they were ok! Who ever you spoke to originally need a good talking too though lol. Xx

1992EM · 02/03/2021 19:55

@lockdownbabyx Definitely do , they would have left me to worry for 10 days if I hadn't put my foot down. Not how patients should be treated. I am just so relieved that it is all ok and baby is getting what they need for now.

Have you told your Mum ? I am desperate to tell my Mum but also terrified too as well. I just feel like I will jinx something 🙈 which I know is completely irrational and if something did happen I will need my Mum x

@1992EM I wasn't planning too, it had been easier to keep a secret because of lockdown but as soon as I saw her I told her lol. Like you said, god forbid if anything happened then you just want your mum don't you? Also it's nice to talk about pregnancy related things with someone who understands, my DP is so supportive but he can't relate or really understand in any way lol. I'm glad I told her ☺️ xx

1992EM · 02/03/2021 20:15

@lockdownbabyx I think it will be such a relief when I tell her and my partner will appreciate me giving him a rest 🤣🤣 . Have you told your partners parents . I don't feel ready to do that but don't no if I am being unfair if I then tell my parents? X

OP posts:
lockdownbabyx · 02/03/2021 20:44

@1992EM aww it will, when do you think you will tell her? No haven't told my partners parents yet, he was happy for me to tell my mum though as he knows how close we are. I think because of my previous losses he also wants me to have that support there if it was to happen again xx

1992EM · 02/03/2021 22:56

@lockdownbabyx I was going to wait until 8 weeks. Then considered this weekend or mothers day. I just can't decide 🙈 I have a really close family member who is pregnant and really want to have that person to share things with too. But also don't want to take away from their first scan etc. This is what is holding me back from saying anything. I am rubbish at keeping secrets or lying so if I am asked I will have to say . So far I have just made excuses for why I can't go over etc . Covid and being back at work has definitely helped with that. I don't want to hurt my mum by not telling her either and yesterday when I was worried about the bloods, the first thing I wanted to do was phone my Mum and couldn't as I didn't want it to come out like that . I am such an overthinker 🤣🤣 My partner has told me all along he doesn't mind if I tell my Mum and tell his parents after the scan . My partner thinks my Mum will know as soon as she sees me 🤣 apparently mums have magical powers like that. X

@1992EM if it were me I would just tell your mum... it’s a rollercoaster of a journey and it will be good to share the highs and lows with her (as well as you partner) I hate the ‘rules’ about staying quiet for the first weeks - it’s up to you who you tell! and if the worst does happen having your mum there will be a good support. As for the other family member who is also preg - I would t worry about taking away from her moment, it’s no less exciting for her if you are preg too - in fact I bet she’ll love someone to go over all the little details with. Just my opinion but thought I’d share xx

1992EM · 03/03/2021 07:22

@Honey2 thank you ❤ I know she will be so excited that we will have babies very close together. I think I'll tell them at the weekend . I hope all is well ? X

@1992EM yes all good so far thanks. I’ve seen the dr and started on heparin injections again. I had them in my last preg for a blood condition I had and so I’m pleased they have automatically given me them again. That also means I’m referred for consultant care which is reassuring for me as I’m 40 and I was hoping they would go down that route. Just the long waiting game now till the first scan! I don’t think I’ll get an early nhs scan but I may treat myself to one privately at 8 weeks as it’s so long to wait otherwise lol 😂

1992EM · 03/03/2021 15:50

@Honey2 that is good they have done that automatically. I know 12 weeks seems like a lifetime. I am only half way there. I don't think I am going to get a private scan though. Think ill just wait it out and maybe get a private one further down the line x

lockdownbabyx · 03/03/2021 16:30

@1992EM I totally get you not wanted to take away from her scan, it's an exciting moment for everyone! Maybe just tell your mum? And then keep it from the rest of your family until you have had your scan?

How is everyone feeling today? I'm less emotional today thankfully, at least I haven't cried yet 😂. I have had a couple of waves of nausea though xx

1992EM · 03/03/2021 16:57

@lockdownbabyx Yeah that is true. Thanks ❤

I am good , tired and needing to dash to the toilet constantly. I am 6 weeks tomorrow and apparently baby will have a heart beat now which is exciting. Only had nausea last night for a brief point but that has been all. x

Garman · 03/03/2021 17:16

I'm 6 weeks on Friday, still absolutely no symptoms so am basically in complete denial, which is quite handy after mmc. Going to make gp appointment soon for a few weeks time.

1992EM · 04/03/2021 16:08

@Garman I am 6 weeks today and very similar. Anything I have is only at night bar the tender boobs. I am not complaining as tests are still nice and strong x

OP posts:
NW2021 · 04/03/2021 17:51

@Garman @1992EM I’m 6 weeks on sat and the last week I haven’t noticed any major symptoms. The week before I couldn’t keep my eyes open and boobs felt a bit sensitive. This week i feel normal (ish) although I’m still in bed for 8.30pm most nights 🤣

lockdownbabyx · 04/03/2021 20:12

Hey girls, I'm 6 weeks on Sunday and I've felt nauseous on and off today, boobs are as sore as ever! I've stopped doing tests since I got my 3+, I've still got another test left but I'm scared it will change to 2-3 😂 xx

1992EM · 05/03/2021 06:53

Oh the nausea is in full swing today 🤢. Glad it is Friday and will have a couple of days to chill out and hoping it disappears before work 🤣 as much as it is reassuring though .

@nw2021 the tiredness is a killer come 6pm I am done 🤣

OP posts:
lockdownbabyx · 05/03/2021 17:13

@1992EM how's your nausea? Mine comes and goes, tends to be late morning / early afternoon for me.

I've been watching Emma Willis delivering babies today, I'm hooked. I just want to be able to experience giving birth so badly, I've been crying all day watching it 😂 x

1992EM · 05/03/2021 19:36

@lockdownbabyx it was ok once I had , had breakfast and has now returned to the point I can't face making dinner as the smells are horrendous. Even opening the fridge sets me off 🤣 how are you. ? I just feel like everywhere I go all that is mentioned are babies. Either people pregnant that have just announced it or people sharing pictures of babies. I am just so desperate to know everything is OK and I can then tell everyone . I am so rubbish at keeping secrets . I have already talked myself out of telling my mum this weekend 🤣🙈 . Someone I know has just had their 20 weeks scan so was trying to suss when they told their parents and it was roughly 8 to 10 weeks so think I'll wait until then. I want to do it before my first appointment as will have to go to it myself and already really nervous about it 🤣. x
