I had a private gender & wellbeing scan this week at 16 weeks exactly and found out we are having a boy :). I've always thought of baby as a boy so very excited to have it confirmed! X

Mrsserenalewis · 17/04/2021 17:50

Congratulations all! We are going to try and keep it a surprise if we can, much to everyone's annoyance! Just on the countdown to the 20 week scan on the 13th 🤞🏻

GJ02 · 17/04/2021 18:41

@Mrsserenalewis congratulations! We are undecided. Open to finding out or a surprise and expect we will make a decision on the day!

anniee8ava · 17/04/2021 20:16

Hi guys,
Joining in the thread if you dont mind :)

I'm due 2nd October and have a wellbeing/gender scan on Monday! I did for fun the nub test, and been given 90% boy, I also felt so much better this time (like the 10 weeks of another pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage) so I do really think this is a boy, I was a lot sicker with my girls.

I have 2 girls, 10 and 5 and this was a very accidental baby :/ nevertheless I'm getting used to the idea now lol xx

MrsTD88 · 17/04/2021 21:11

@Kate105 our daughter was a surprise and everyone was so annoyed we weren't finding out but we didn't care. It was a lovely surprise after a very traumatic labour. We are only finding out this time as our daughter is keen to know if she'll be having a brother or sister.

@Mrsserenalewis I have a feeling girl but I feel so different this time around so could be totally wrong!

@anniee8ava congratulations! X

Mrsserenalewis · 19/04/2021 06:56

@Kate105 @GJ02 keeping it a surprise is wonderful. We needed to know to figure out bedrooms 🙈
Looking to buy a house next year. So now we know my daughter will be the one sharing a room.

@anniee8ava congratulations lovely. That’ll be exciting a boy after having girls. When’s your next scan

anniee8ava · 19/04/2021 07:28

We need to know to organise our bedrooms too 🤦‍♀️ I feel like we really could do with some 'boy' in the house my husband is out numbered 🤣 and the girls I love so much but youngest was very high needs.. maybe this one will be my chilled baby. But saying that I do love having girls so wont mind either way. scan is at lunch time today to confirm!

How are you all feeling now? Are your bumps noticable now? Xx

MrsTD88 · 19/04/2021 13:43

@anniee8ava how exciting! Hope all went well 😁

My bump is definitely noticeable now, 17 weeks exactly today and find out the gender on Saturday (hopefully!) X

GJ02 · 19/04/2021 14:16

I'm also 17 weeks today.

We are moving house any day now and surrounded by boxes and chaos. We also need to create an extra bedroom for the baby when we move in Confused that's what's making me lean towards finding out, get a bit of organisation/planning back in my life!

My bump is coming in. Not told everyone yet so in lots of loose fitting dresses and a big coat.

Ahh how exciting!

We had it confirmed it's a boy :) very happy.

GJ02 when are you telling everyone? We havent done a FB reveal as such but those at work and my close family know... others will find out if they see me at some point in the future xx

Mrsserenalewis · 19/04/2021 15:04

@anniee8ava how was the scan. I’m excited for you.

I feel more human now 😂😂
How are you feeling

GJ02 · 19/04/2021 15:37

@anniee8ava we've told family now and starting to tell friends but we waited a while as we wanted to tell people in person. I've got away with it at work as I just look like I do after too much food at Christmas so it's nothing they haven't seen before!

Monstermunch87 · 19/04/2021 17:19

I told work today so I could get my risk assessment sorted. Sounds like nothing will change but he’s confirmed he would be planning on me working from home for the third trimester so that’s good.
I feel like I should wait until the 20 week scan before telling everyone I’m pregnant but today I tried on my work clothes and looked pregnant in all of them so I think I’m going to have to tell now!!
I can’t wait until the 20 week scan! 13th May so still some time to go...

MrsTD88 · 19/04/2021 18:12

@GJ02 oh wow, due date twins! Good luck with the move 😁

@anniee8ava congratulations on your boy 💙 do you have names picked out? We've settled on a girls name but struggling with a boys name at the moment.

@Monstermunch87 that's good your work are putting things in place for you. Everyone at my work knows now, I'm in the office twice a week and home the other 3 days and it is was getting so hard to hide. My 20 week scan isn't until 17 May at 21 weeks, but got a private scan on Saturday.

anniee8ava · 19/04/2021 18:44

@MrsTD88 we are struggling for a boys name also. I have never found one we agree on, girls names I have no problem with!

I was going to keep this pregnancy on the low, partly because its number 3 and people think your mad for having another 🤣
However, being a midwife my colleagues are good at spotting pregnancy and apparently I looked different so some guessed quite early on 🤦‍♀️

That's good you get to work from home, some of the girls at work were going off at 28 weeks but I think I've missed the boat for that now as covid rules are easing.

Mrsserenalewis · 21/04/2021 05:18

My work was told early on as I was still working in school during the lockdowns. I wanted them to be prewarned.

We had boys names picked out as was so sure baby was a boy. Now we are having a girl. I’m lost with her name 😂😂

@anniee8ava I know the feeling. I also have 3 children I was all done and on the pill. Now here I am pregnant again. Husband Getting the snip on the 13th may. 🙈

Everyone excited for their 20 week scan x

We've decided not to attend the NCT classes but as (older) first time parents any idea on how to find local ish other first time parents nearer our age?

MrsTD88 · 22/04/2021 08:11

@Kiza we didn't bother with those first time round either and likely won't this time too. We just went to the antenatal classes at the hospital. We took little one to Baby Sensory classes which was great for meeting people and also a local baby and toddler group. It was nice to just let the little one play and have a cuppa and a catch up with other adults! We also enjoyed BookBug sessions at the local library. Baby swimming classes and messy play classes are great for meeting others too.

Kiza · 22/04/2021 08:57

@MrsTD88 thanks, all sound great. Financially we won't be able to do many classes so will look into which ones are available in our area.

MrsTD88 · 22/04/2021 09:11

@Kiza our local Bookbug sessions are free so there may be something similar in your area and the local baby and toddlers session was only £1 to cover cost of snacks for the kids. X

Monstermunch87 · 22/04/2021 17:48

Do you know if any of these clubs are back up and running? I really hope the clubs are all back in time for me to use them!! Some people I’ve spoken to have really rated the NCT classes but that’s mainly from a meeting people point of view so I guess might not be worthwhile unless they are in person. Come on everything- hurry up and open up!!!

Cisco2 · 23/04/2021 11:50

Hey everyone, glad to read the messages and everyone doing ok. I’m looking forward to my 20week scan first week of May. I’ll then tell work/more people once I know all is ok.

Also stuck for baby names - I have a boys name but girls finding most difficult! I bought a baby book full of names, just need to actually read it now!😂

@Kiza try posting on your local community group and asking if any parents know of antenatal classes happening in your area

Cisco2 · 23/04/2021 11:51

@Monstermunch87 I’ve seen some baby classes open up. Fingers crossed they remain open!

Kiza · 23/04/2021 15:33

@Cisco2 thanks, do you mean a community group on Facebook or are there some elsewhere that perhaps I don't know about?
