So 2.5 weeks early and a few hard days of on / off contractions, Isobella was born this morning at 3:24 weighing a healthy 6lb 15oz. Knackered but totally smitten 🥰

TeaPiglet · 05/02/2021 10:14

@Pampero congratulations!!! You've made my day love, I was only saying earlier it felt ages since we'd had a birth announcement.

cat709 · 05/02/2021 10:29

Good morning mamas!!! So no progress on this end since losing the rest of mucus plug yesterday afternoon.. i oddly woke up at 4am pretty wide awake which is unusual for me I have had some cramping and went out for a walk with dh!! He works overnight so it’s now his bedtime haha!! Positive vibes out there to all you guys this waiting game can’t last forever!!!

Muriel84 · 05/02/2021 11:11

@Sam042017 I was totally freaked out by them having never had them before I didn’t even know what they were initially! And they’ve gotten so much bigger since then. I have used steroid cream/suppositories when they’ve been bad, and I have some strong stuff to go with post delivery to try and get rid of them. Sometimes they’re so swollen I worry they’ll pop during labour... midwives must be so used to them tho they’re so common. The things we put up with!

@Whichnamepls that’s good to know yours went. I think the skin is so stretched out by mine they’ll never completely go. X x x

Muriel84 · 05/02/2021 11:12

@pampero wow!!! 2.5 weeks early! Lovely name and lovely weight! Massive congratulations 🥳 🥰💞 rest well!!! X x x

Whichnamepls · 05/02/2021 11:25

@Muriel84 Sorry to hear yours are bad, they are so unpleasant.

I think I might have been left with a small bit of loose skin but it's not noticeable to me. I have read (probably on MN) that you can get that removed if it's causing an issue in the future.

Sam042017 · 05/02/2021 11:32

@Whichnamepls hopefully they survive the birth and don't pop and then I can get them sorted afterwards... glad to hear yours went down ok x

Sam042017 · 05/02/2021 11:32

@pampero congratulations this is lovely news 💕💕

Sam042017 · 05/02/2021 11:34

@Muriel84 Awful isn't it all I can think about is oh heck how am I going to give birth with these will they pop or will I require surgery 😭 not even worrying about the actual labour! Hope you're ok you sound like you've got it covered with the creams and supps I suppose we just need to try and relax and realise they are common and won't be going anywhere until baby is here x

pampero · 05/02/2021 11:43

@TeaPiglet I had 3 nights of what were basically contractions but then stopped in the day, then Wednesday they finally they continued! So it could mean things might be happening soon 🥰

Stef92 · 05/02/2021 11:47

@pampero congrats 💜

Stef92 · 05/02/2021 11:49

I ended up having a surprise virtual baby shower last night, which was fab. Hubby's family live 3 hours from us so they'll not be able to see baby in person until lockdown is lifted as it's not as if they can drive for a doorstep/window visit like mine, so it was mainly them on the call. They were all guessing when he will make his grand entrance and we had guess from this Sunday until the first week of March - really hoping he doesn't stay in until March lol

ExhaustedMumofsix · 05/02/2021 12:31

Congratulations to the new mums on the thread! 🎉❤️

Just checking in to say still no baby for me 😢 6 days over now, zero signs and won't have my first sweep until +10.

So fed up now and eager to meet baby, just wish she felt the same! 😂 Good luck to those still waiting 🤞 x

Piccalily19 · 05/02/2021 12:33

Hi everyone! Congrats @pampero on your new arrival (sorry if I’ve missed anyone else I had to scan read quickly!)
So after my waters breaking late Tuesday night I managed to naturally progress and avoid an induction, giving birth to little Zachary at 10:07pm on Weds 3rd - 7lb 12oz 😊
Super relieved to have avoided induction but only downside was my contractions hit hard during the 6pm monitoring I had on the Wednesday and the swines in that department wouldn’t examine me or take me seriously on my pains so by the time I got them to unwire me and move to the birth centre floor I was crawling on the floor screaming “I need to push!!” and the very shocked midwife who thought she was just keeping an eye on me until induction checked and I was already 9cm 😂🙈 2 hours after that he arrived!
thankfully my partner was waiting on edge in the carpark so he made it to the room by that point. Surreal experience but super happy he’s here safely!
Can’t wait to see more announcements! X

Safxxx · 05/02/2021 13:02

@whichnamepls Hiya welcome. That made me laugh (baboon's bum) 🤣🤣 sure feel's like it sometimes lol.
Hope all is going well and hopefuly not too long of a wait left now. Xx

Theonewheretherewas4 · 05/02/2021 13:11

Congratulations to the new mamas on here FlowersFlowers. I saw my midwife tgis morning and my bump measurement hasn’t changed since last appointment so it’s off for a scan Monday to see what’s happening. Il be just under 37 weeks by then so shouldn’t be too much of a problem if she has to make an early appearance. Just need to get all her bits and bobs ready as everything is still in the garage!

Safxxx · 05/02/2021 13:13

@Pampero @Piccalily19 Lovely news big congrats to the both of you 🎈🎉🎁

@Stef92 thats a nice suprise and lovely thought from them 😍

@ExhaustedMumofsix i was thinking of you, was going to ask hows things and saw your post. Awe i so hope things pick up for you and you get that baby out Asap 🤞

Safxxx · 05/02/2021 13:18

@Theonewheretherewas4 i stopped trusting midwifes tape measurements when there was a big diffrence to the ones in growth scans. So hopefuly nothing to worry about. Yes defo keep things ready as anything can change. Xx

cat709 · 05/02/2021 13:46

So lovely - all this new babies!!

I've tried googling this question, but nothing really is coming up. It says hot baths to promote contractions. Are we allowed to have hotter baths than in the first/second trimester? In the first trimester I was so careful of the temperature. But now the baby can regulate its own temperature.. xx

Stef92 · 05/02/2021 13:47

@Piccalily19 congrats 💙

Whichnamepls · 05/02/2021 14:23

@cat709 I would have thought it's okay to have a hot bath now as I thought the original concern was due to a risk to the neural tube while it's developing during the first trimester.

If you have any doubt then it maybe best to avoid.

I don't think it even needs to be a bath if you are hoping to get your contractions going. I was having mild irregular contractions with my first and I decided to have a shower - the contractions intensified immediately and put me into active labour.
