Gosh this thread has been busy !!

I have been to the MW today, and she has offered me a sweep in 2 weeks at just over 39 weeks which is great as I'm keen to reduce chance of induction. Baby is now fully engaged but this is common with first time mums I think.

I have started harvesting colostrum, managed to get 1 ml which I am pretty pleased with, was hard to get the technique as had to adapt it to what worked best for my body, but think I have got it now.

I have a snack bag ready to go, in mine I have put pot noodle, hot chocolate cups, breakfast bars, packs of biscuits and some high sugar sweets to help keep the energy up, and a couple of bottles of high energy drinks, all be walking the walls with all that sugar I think haha.

I've got it in my hospital bag (think it's made by My Expert Midwife), as I was given it and have been told it's good. But I've heard the best trick is to pour warm water between your legs as you go for a wee - apparently works wonders! X

@Summertime1992 that's amazing you've managed to start with the colostrum. I haven't given it ago yet but you've inspired me to try tomorrow! Will see how it goes xx

@Newmumfeb2021 i don't know about any spray, but i always take a empty bottle with me and use it to wash myself after going toilet, as after birth the wee stings so much and warm water helps rather then toilet paper or wipes.
You could take a empty milk bottle with handle which is easier to pour or any bottle as long as its not too small. Xx

@Summertime1992 thats amazing your collecting it. Mine are so sore at times still no leakage.

@ jbx10 well good luck for tomorrow then, my tip would be to be patient, took at least 20 mins first time for me to even get anything to come but once it started it came in small spurts also needed tiny breaks between squeezing again for it to refill.

@Safxxx I was worried my milk would not come in because my breast are not sore at all weirdly. I would say it would be hard to do if your breast are sensitive though, as it does take a lot of man handling I have found haha, I have had no leakage either I really had to encourage it out!!

I haven’t started leaking colostrum at all!! If I squeeze my breasts I may be able to get a drop out of each maybe.. does this mean I might not have enough to start breastfeeding with?

@Summertime1992 thank you! Mine are slightly sore nothing too much & I haven't had any leakage so I was worried I wouldn't be able to but I'll give it a go tomorrow and keep patient.

@Safxxx thanks for the tip that sounds like a really good idea didn't even think about it. I'll be sure to pack an empty bottle xx

@ Lnbarne Hormones are released post birth to help with milk production so no need to worry if you cant get colostrum out, also takes a lot of time to get even 1ml, I did it in two session in a day and was about 30 mins on each breast and that is all I got.

I've not bought any spritz for bitz as it's so expensive 😩 but I have got a peri bottle in my hospital bag to spray warm water while going to the loo postpartum so hopefully that will help xx
Also planning to do aloe Vera pads and put them in the freezer, I've heard they work wonders!

I hope I'm not too late to join. I'm due on Saturday (6th) with a baby boy (ftm). Absolutely no signs whatsoever yet so feel I'll go overdue! The only issue is he appears to have dropped since Monday I've out of the blue developed large thrombosed hemorrhoids and everything is so swollen down below 😭. I've tried creams but nothing is helping I think it is just sheer pressure of baby now! Anyone have any experience on whether this will affect labour? I'm now terrified to give birth as I know they will worsen and be horrendous and I feel like my whole bum will fall out 😭😭

@Sam042017 hi welcome. hemorrhoids are horrendous 😲 can be very painful the combination of babies pressure down below and the piles can be quite uncomfortable, but don't worry it does not affect labour. But after birth will take some time and they will disapear. Have you talked to your doctor? They can prescribe you something better to shrink them and help with the pain.
I got internal hemorhoids and a couple proluding out, i'm currently using Anusal cream and suppository for the internal ones. The pressure sometimes is quite bad due to them.

@Safxxx Thank you, you've definitely put my mind at ease and they are feeling a bit better today, using the any solution cream and suppositories which is easing the pain however they are still there but I suppose they will probably be there until after birth now! Hoping for labour soon feel very much like let's just get the mess over with now 🤣🤞 x

I'm so tired these days, can't sleep much at night and mornings are hard, i'm back in bed for a little rest, but i know i won't sleep 😢

@Sam042017 I developed awful ones following the birth of my first DD which gave me a fright and were really uncomfy. I felt like I had a baboon's bum and very sore! The midwives checked them and said they'd seen worse so they must be very common.

I got some steroid cream from the Dr and they went down very quickly and have not made a reappearance since.

Hello to everyone 👋🏼 I've been lurking for weeks! I'm due a DS on the 23rd by ELCS. Still feels ages away to me 😩

I've been having on and off tightening since last Saturday, definitely not hicks but also not ever progressing into anything. Tired as anything and no energy for DD and there's still 2 weeks until my due date. Anyone else had this? Is it rubbish hicks or what?
