@Dorset555 Keep your phone on silent lol i know they're excited but it can be annoying. Hopefully things pick up for you soon. Some women show no signs till last minute so stay positive. Xx

@Safxxx yes I was surprised she offered as I've been told the same thing before.. however I was happy to have tried as I've had sweeps with my other 2 so knew what to expect etc. I don't really mind waiting in that I'll be 39+1 next time so still not overdue then anyway. However it is only a day before my birthday at that point and despite not having any plans for the day, labour is not how I want to spend the day will see how I feel next week.

@TeaPiglet I'd probably go for the sweep before the induction but my experiences with sweeps have always been positive so that probably influences my opinion!

@Newmumfeb2021 sounds like they are being good and keeping a close eye on you. When I was induced for low fluid levels I was only 38+4 so my body wasn't really ready, by 40 weeks I'm sure it will all go smoothly 😊. 🤞 you go naturally before then.

@Newmumfeb2021 I'm ok, I've got over the disappointment of lasts nights non progress and am reminding myself I'm not actually due for another 5 days so trying not to get hung up on it! The MW did warn me third babies tend to "fart about" in her words!!! 🤣

It seems like lots of Trusts are really pushing for inductions as close to due date as possible for some reason. I’ve seen ‘due to Covid’ quoted somewhere as the reason why but I’m not really sure of the logic behind that argument.

@Dorset555 in the exact same boat, fed up having the exact same conversation multiple times per day which start off under the pretence ‘how are you?’. It’s nice that people care and show an interest but also just serves to remind me 10x per day (on top of my own brain reminding me regularly) that nothing in the slightest has happened yet!

@017HF haha yep! Its like "oh yeah I had the baby a week ago and just thought I wouldn't tell you!" 🙈

@Clockspanner my youngest arrived a month before he's due date, and a day before my birthday lol. So was nice in a way i felt like i had the best bday gift ever. Now when he's birthday comes, he gets excited saying mummy its your bday tmro ❤

@Safxxx thanks but I think if I ignore my phone everyone will think something is happening! I think I've just got to count myself lucky I've got people that care...and learn never to a pregnant woman if there is any news!!😂😂
@017HF - exactly this!!! How many weeks are you?
Does anyone know if you definitely have a show before/during labour? I don't think I would miss it...I've got nothing to do other than obsess as to where the hell it is!!
Got a sweep booked in for next weds but that would be 41+3 which seems like a hell of a long way away/to long to wait...especially as my baby measures 90th percentile...does anyone think I should ask to bring that forward? I'm trying to focus on the natural ways of induction now

@Dorset555 that does seem like a long wait for a sweep? Got mine booked for 40+1 and MW even apologised she couldn't book it for 40 exact! Also said about booking in induction then if no signs still.

See this is why I think chats like this are invaluable so we can see we aren't being 'dramatic' or 'stubborn' but in actual fact a few of us are being pressured to do something we don't want to do and with little/no explanation as to why as well.

Thanks @babbit87 that sounds more in line e with what I've heard tbh.... its so confusing isn't it the different care trusts and even within then midwifes advice for and against such different things. I might see if I can get an earlier sweep but not sure if I'll be able to...
But yea on the other side people shouldn't feel pressured to do things so early if they're not ready I guess. I'm just scared I'm cooking a massive baby!

@Dorset555 not sure where you are but mine did say next week is very difficult to book any appointments in as so many MW/Staff are on annual leave for half term 😕

I'm based in London..might give them a call tomorrow see what they say. It suddenly seems so far away :-(

@Dorset555 ive my sweep booked in for 40+3 and she said they would have me in on due date only its a saturday, but to ring on the monday for a cancellation to try and squeeze me in at 40+2 (their clinics are fully booked atm lol) so strange they are letting you go to 41+, just shows everywhere is different for the rules they follow ... ive also been on 90th centile full way through, i know its not accurate but dont want her cooking too much on the inside either and coming out huge 🤣🤣

@babbit87 haha exactly.. considering one of them is my mum who will be looking after my son when I do finally go into labour so she'll be the first to know! I'm sure I sound like an ungrateful so and so but just fed up generally so having a moan!

@Dorset555 I'm 40+4 (same as you I think(?)) - I was offered an induction on my due date originally but declined as there was no reason for it (had some minor complications previously in this pregnancy but nothing serious, and actually seemed to have sorted themselves out as I got closer to term). I'm now booked in for an induction next Wed when i'll be 40+10 but obviously hoping that I go naturally before then! I declined a sweep/exam yesterday when I was seeing consultant - I think i'm being stubborn because I was induced in previous pregnancy and this will very likely be my last so trying to stick it out... weirdly I don't have anymore appointments with anyone now until I either go into labour myself or go in next Tuesday evening pre-induction which I find a bit odd!

@dorset555 I'm above 90th percentile and I too had the sweep at 41+3, I feel that was way too late even though the mw was adamant that it was policy. Since found out that was a pile of shite.

Personally, if I could go back I would have pushed for an earlier one, then I could have maybe had a second try later. No one seemed to care about me measuring big and being late, which I've found a little concerning. Just an offhand comment from a mw saying I should have been having growth scans. Bit late now love 🙄

Im 38 weeks and my midwife said she wouldn't sweep me until 41 weeks this time. It's my second - first arrived 3 days late after a sweep at 40 + 1 so was surprised they wouldn't sweep me at 40 weeks again.

She just explained that with a second it can all happen quite quick and that if the sweep works I would likely have went to labour on my own anyway so I'm happy to go with it but it seems funny every one getting sweeps / inductions at different times! My mw hasn't even mentioned induction yet!

Thanks both...I'm worried now that I should have had one this week now ill speak to them tomorrow in case there's anything to be done before weds. I guess there's no guarantee a sweep will work or indeed that I won't go into labour tonight!! Its a constant minefield!

@017HF that does seem odd. Do you not have a 41 week check? I have mine on Tuesday. I’ll ask for another sweep then.

@babbit87 I had trouble getting an appointment next week maybe that’s why! Reception automatically booked me in for the week after instead... I said I thought 42 weeks sounded a bit late to next be seen!

@Dorset555 I’m also in London. They do sweeps on mfau at my hospital. They seem very keen on sweeps in general tho. Maybe you could phone and ask for one before your next appointment if you want one?

Im also finding these messages about how I’m getting on annoying! People I haven’t heard from for ages seem to have remembered my due date! I know I shouldn’t complain... 🙈😬X x x

@Dorset555 in fairness the midwife that I saw yesterday did say that there's very little evidence that sweeps actually do anything to bring on labour, they are more for preparing your cervix but it does get to the stage that you're desperate for anything!

@Muriel84 Nope, nothing - I was expecting a 41 week check too. My midwife clinic is on a Monday normally and I've to go to the ward on Tues night at 9pm for induction if I haven't had baby before then so probably is pointless since I'm already booked in for induction but did just seem a bit odd! I'm sure they know what they're doing in any case!
