Can you ask for them to just break your waters without the drip first to see if you can naturally start contractions if you’re already already dilated enough??

When my mw explained the process she said they break the waters and start you on pitocin at the same time..

@Lnbarne they did just break my water and left me for 2 hours to see if I would contract and I didn’t so they then started me with the drip

I've been really uncomfy and haven't slept all night and now am having period like pains low down with some tightenings in my belly 3-5 mins apart xx
But I can still talk through them and things so I'm not sure what to think x

Been awake since about 4.45, really uncomfortable nights sleep. Baby has been partying on and off since the last hour. I'm 38 weeks today and have my midwife appointment this afternoon, hoping he's engaged more than 5/5 which he has been since just after Christmas but don't want him to be too ready with the building work. Hate driving in the snow as well and we've had a bit overnight

It looks like I'm finally in labour 🤞🏼

Morning ladies,
After my sweep on Saturday afternoon, I woke up with contractions at 8am on Sunday. Had a warm bath and headed to the hospital at 10am. I was only 3cm, but they suspected pale meconium on my pad (sorry, tmi) so kept me in. There went the idea of a water birth. Tried gas and air (hated it), IV paracetamol, pethidine and then an epidural. Baby's heart dropped whenever I went on my back to be dropped. By 4pm, I was 9cm and baby's heart rate dropped again because she was tired so they took my round to theatre.

Baby arrived at 6.06 pm on Sunday weighing 7lb 6oz.

@MacMummy95 Awe he's so adorable and a lovely weight too. Many congrats 🎈🎉🎁 it's a shame you had to go to theatre at the end, but he's here now safe and well, hope you recover soon Xxx

Thanks everyone! I managed to come home last night, so that's been nice. I'm doing okay, just a bit sore now, but glad to have baby girl here safely 💕
