Update... think my waters just broke 😨 but now I'm second guessing myself as I'm not leaking now! Heading in shortly 🤞

TeaPiglet · 08/02/2021 18:12

What was it like Sam? I'm curious as mine haven't gone naturally before

Sam042017 · 08/02/2021 18:22

I have honestly had no signs or symptoms... cleaned the house today and scrubbed the floor! I literally stood up onto my feet and felt a little pop then my knickers felt wet so I ran to the bathroom and as I pulled my pants down it just came out over the toilet. I put a pad on and it seemed to slow down and now when I move or stand up I can feel a bit more fluid coming out. Wasn't sure if it was my mucus plug but it looks watery? X

wannabe123 · 08/02/2021 18:33

Fingers crossed it is getting started for you @Sam042017
I think I'm starting to have some period type pains but not sure if I'm having Braxton Hicks contractions or proper contractions or nothing much at all! I think I'm overthinking it all a bit because I am booked in for a c section so I've got to ring the hospital when I first go in to labour. Bit tricky when you're not fully sure what to look out for!

Whichnamepls · 08/02/2021 19:06

@Sam042017 Sounds gross but give it a sniff! Apparently it smells sweet.

babbit87 · 08/02/2021 19:13

@Sam042017 definitely sounds like waters to me! That 'pop' feeling you described. Good luck hopefully won't be long now!

@cat709 how are you getting on? Any progress?

cat709 · 08/02/2021 19:50

@Sam042017 ah exciting, fingers crossed it's the start of things! Xx

@babbit87 so I'm going back in to hospital in a few hours where I'll have the drip. So by hook or crook I'll be going into labour at some point during the night. I feel disappointed that the contractions haven't happened naturally, but I guess it was never going to be a perfect process. Xx

Anyone who's been getting constant period pains is only a good sign that things are moving! X

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 19:56

@Sam042017 must be the scubbing floors that bought it on lol definetely sounds like your waters, you should go and check it out as usualy within 24hrs the baby needs to be delivered incase of risk of infection.good luck hope all goes well 🤞

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 20:07

@cat709 hopefuly you meet your baby soon 🤗

TeaPiglet · 08/02/2021 20:16

I wasn't sure whether to be share but you're all supportive so sod it lol. I had a growth scan today and check up on my kidneys and everything is grand. My consultant discharged me from his care but booked me a balloon induction for my due date.

The mission is on to get baby OUT before 40wks so give me any advice or tips please? I'll do anything, been bouncing on the ball for past hour and I'm 1/5 engaged apparently. No idea what that means.

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 20:22

@TeaPiglet well for Sam042017 looks like scrubbing floors helped lol
Think we all need to get on our all fours 🤣
On a serious note thats lovely news that all is fine. I have no idea what balloon induction is but i truely hope you have this baby before due date and naturaly 🤞

TeaPiglet · 08/02/2021 20:31

They essentially stuff a balloon into your cervix then fill it with water so the pressure encourages dilation. I had every form of induction with my DD and balloon is a walk in the park compared to the others.

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 20:59

@@TeaPiglet things i learn on here, well even that sounds daunting 😲

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 21:01

@Baby2onboard just saw on the list you had CS booked for 3rd feb. I'm guessing you had your baby by now?

TeaPiglet · 08/02/2021 22:07

It's honestly not uncomfortable at all, it does bring on contractions but the actual balloon itself doesn't hurt

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 22:27

@TeaPiglet the only thing i remember when i had my first child (16 now) i went in at 8cm dialated but nearly 7hrs later i still could'nt deliver, i remember they broke my waters and put in a drip,( no explaining what it was or what it does) lets just say if i was'nt already going thru alot this just put me on another level. But within 2hrs my daughter was finaly born.
For the other 2 kids was fine no intervention needed.
Everytime i hear the word induction i recall that drip and feel scared. If it ever comes down to it can i ask for the balloon?

TeaPiglet · 08/02/2021 22:30

Absolutely, it dialates you to 4cm then just drops out 😊 I've had that drip too and it's the devil. My nannan had it about 50 years ago for her 5th child and screamed the place down apparently whereas the first 4 were fine with no drip.

017HF · 08/02/2021 22:36

@Safxxx I’m definitely not up for the drip again either, hence why I’m desperate to go naturally vs induction, in case it comes to that. Fingers crossed!!

Muriel84 · 08/02/2021 23:03

@Safxxx the drip and the balloon do different things. The balloon helps your cervix to dilate and initiate labour. The drip is syntocinon which is a synthetic oxytocin. It brings on contractions or makes them stronger which is why it’s so uncomfortable. I’m also v scared of the drip though have heard some positive stories on here! That’s awful they just gave you the drip without explaining it. Did your waters break earlier on in your other pregnancies? I read somewhere only 15% of women’s waters break at the start like as the first sign but seems a lot more women experience that. My mums waters went as the first sign with all four of us.

@Sam042017 hope you’re getting on ok x x x

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 23:06

I truely hope none of us will need any intervention and we all go naturaly 🤞🤞

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 23:11

@Muriel84 Only time my waters broke as a first sign was for my youngest at 36wks
For the eldest the midwife broke them and for my middle son they broke themselves while i was in established labour. Xx

baby2onboard · 08/02/2021 23:29

Hi saf! I did he was born Wednesday last week. Got discharged from hospital Saturday still so sore! :(

Safxxx · 08/02/2021 23:40

@Baby2onboard Awe many congratulations 🎈🎉🎁
Wishing you a speedy recovery. XXX

Char41zam · 08/02/2021 23:49

I had the balloon catheter for 24 hours then they broke my waters, agree that the drip is the devil! Never felt contractions like that before it was awful it was such a relief when they did the spinal x

Char41zam · 08/02/2021 23:50

Congrats @baby2onboard, I can relate I came home last Sunday and I am still in a fair bit of pain it’s a big surgery to recover from x
