@Newmumfeb2021 I'm okay just fed up now haha 😂 want this baby out so I can meet him already, he's still making us wait, little pickle he is 😂🥰
@OnNaturesCourse aww he sounds a dream, bless you 💙 glad the covid scare was only a scare 😊 your poor little one being sick can't have been pleasant ☹️

TeaPiglet · 07/02/2021 00:14

I had an ecs with DD and had to stay in for 3 days too. Bearing that in mind I've packed 7 sleepsuits for baby just in case, do you think that's enough? Planning like 2 a day just in case and a going home outfit.

Safxxx · 07/02/2021 00:37

@OnNaturesCourse Awe nice to hear little one doing well. Hopefuly your girl has recovered from her sickness. Xx
@TeaPiglet i packed 4 vests and 4 sleepsuits. I'm assuming will be enough. Xx

Char41zam · 07/02/2021 01:02

@OnNaturesCourse I have been really lucky with Leila too she lost 3 percent of her birth weight but we can’t afford for her to lose anything because of how tiny she is, she is eating really well and they are coming to weigh her on Monday so hopefully she has put on, she is sleeping well too and basically a really good baby, we had to order premature baby cardis off eBay as noting we have fitted her! They are the cutest little hand knitted cardies with a matching hat for 5 pounds and the funds go to derby premature babies which I think is amazing x

pampero · 07/02/2021 02:56

@Safxxx @TeaPiglet, if you do have to stay in longer than expected can you have a visitor on the postnatal ward? Where i was those staying were allowed a visitor for an hour a day so they could always drop off more outfits if they were needed, or at the very least drop them off at the ward doors maybe? X

Safxxx · 07/02/2021 03:54

@pampero at our hospital its only to the labour ward, not been informed about ward, But someone can drop off belongings to the main entrance door. Xx

We've had to dip into the newborn and tiny baby clothes a lot more than we expected to. DD was in them for a few weeks but this little one looks like he will be in them longer so I will check out ebay etc as we don't have much in that size. He's very long but really skinny - fills the length in a few outfits but is drowned everywhere else in them. I put a 0-3 baby grow on him the other day just to see how it would be and he looked lost in it, it was so big!

Hopefully Leila will put her weight back on quickly if she's eating and sleeping well. It's brilliant that she lost so little to start with aswell. I know some babies lose up to 10%.

Hows everyone finding the home visits with the midwifes etc? I'm absolutely hating mine and can not wait until its all done with.

Char41zam · 07/02/2021 08:47

@OnNaturesCourse hating mine too, they came on Friday to do the heel prick test and because she is so tiny they had to squeeze and squeeze her little foot and she was screaming the place down! And after all that the card that they blot the blood on didn’t absorb enough so they have to do it again! I hate all the messing about and having people in your house x

jbx10 · 07/02/2021 09:23

Has anyone bought anything for your babies to lay in when they're in the pram? It seems such an open space for them to just lie in. I was looking at those sleepyheads-but so pricey! Are there any alternatives anyone has used/bought ? xx

TeaPiglet · 07/02/2021 09:30

Just be careful with sleepyheads as they aren't recommended, I'm planning to swaddle mine in the pram so they're still flat etc but warm because as you say it seems such a big space

Thegirlhasnoname · 07/02/2021 09:33

@OnNaturesCourse I’m at the midwife clinic tomorrow to hopefully get discharged but totally agree that I haven’t been a fan of home visits. Hoping that Isaac has put some weight on (he only lost 2% at his five day check so fingers crossed and he is loving the boob so should’ve gained) when we go there tomorrow. He’s just about moved out of tiny baby clothes as he only measured 16inches so looking forward to getting him into the newborn stuff - bonkers to think that he actually wasn’t due until the 11th though

Has anybody else that had a section just started getting bruises everywhere? Recovered well enough but in the last day or two my arms have erupted in bruises from the cannula and abdomen has got super tender

Whichnamepls · 07/02/2021 09:37

@jbx10 We have a sleepyhead but not used it in the pram. I'm not sure if it would fit? We did use a shorthair sheepskin liner though.

jbx10 · 07/02/2021 09:42

@TeaPiglet @Whichnamepls thank you! I'll have a look at the different options, it just seems odd to not put anything in there don't want her rolling around 😂🙈

Whichnamepls · 07/02/2021 09:45

We did tuck a few blankets around her too I think. She didn't seem to roll around but did keep disappearing down inside the carrycot as she was pretty small 😂

TeaPiglet · 07/02/2021 09:49

@whichnamepls sheepskin liner sounds amazing! Where did you get yours?

Whichnamepls · 07/02/2021 09:54

We got it from this company as you can get them sized to fit your pram - www.gabeandgrace.co.uk/

You can also get a universal one from John Lewis - www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-pushchair-lambskin-liner/p231011599

Muriel84 · 07/02/2021 10:05

@pampero the rule at my hospital is still no visitors at all. I know someone who was in for a week and couldn’t see her partner for that time. The Covid rate has dropped so much though where we live. I will ask on Tuesday at my 40 week appointment if they’re going to change it back to an hour a day.

@Thegirlhasnoname I’m guessing you’re on blood thinner injections so that’s probably why you’re bruising? If your tum has become more sore then tell your midwife so she can have a feel to make sure all is ok. It’s a massive operation tho so do take it easy! X x x

Theonewheretherewas4 · 07/02/2021 10:21

Iv got a sleepyhead too and it doesn’t fit in the pram at all. Iv done the same as pp and swaddled baby and also tucked blankets around them in the pram.

Safxxx · 07/02/2021 10:32

@jbx10 you could double up a blanket so she will be cushioned in it. Xx

Anyone else bought baby pillows, the ones that help the head nice and round?
I used them for my other kids and their heads shaped nicely round. Xx

Stef92 · 07/02/2021 10:34

I've got lots of hand knitted blankets that we will swaddle the baby in and I am also being sent a blanket that goes round the baby's back with places for his feet and arms so he can't kick it off.

jbx10 · 07/02/2021 10:42

@Whichnamepls amazing thanks for the link. I think I might go for the sheepskin one.

@Safxxx I have a baby pillow just a little round one, I haven't used it yet obviously but good to know they worked for your other babies! Xx

Safxxx · 07/02/2021 11:23

@jbx10 you could also use the pillow in the pram, it will give the head some support too. I used it in cot and car seats, i don't have a pram but got a pushchair with footmuff so thats quite comfy. Xx

cat709 · 07/02/2021 12:43

Feeling like a beached whale today... waiting, slumped on the sofa... these period/groin pains are so mean...! Xx

Lnbarne · 07/02/2021 13:12

@cat709 I hear ya! They are terrible!! It’s day four of them for me although I did get a break from them for the most part during the day yesterday they came back in the evening!! So ready for this part of the journey to be over!!!!!! Hope it gets better for you 🤞🤞🤞

Lnbarne · 07/02/2021 13:16

@cat709 I will say that I seem to be much more comfortable and the pain/pressure is a lot easier to handle when I am up and moving around. Not sure if you’ve already tried that!!
