@IamC good luck! Keep us posted. Very excited for you 🍀 🥰 x x x

Newmumfeb2021 · 21/01/2021 21:40

@IamC all the best of luck for tomorrow. Hope it all goes well and smooth! :)

OnNaturesCourse · 21/01/2021 23:39
@OnNaturesCourse I have no snacks yet so need to get on that tomorrow hopefully! I packed babies back last week and if it wasn’t for all this business since last night I bet I would have left my bag till the last minute, what kinds of snacks did you pack?
We have cereal bars, granola, crisps, lucozade and water. Not much, but hopefully won't be in long this time! Took far too much last time lol.

Good luck @IamC so exciting that you will get to meet your little one soon!

You all seem so organised, I haven’t packed my hospital bag yet but I’ve still got a month to go and feels like time is moving slowly, definitely getting impatient, lack of sleep doesn’t help as there’s more waking hours!

Safxxx · 22/01/2021 01:29

@Snorlax86 best you pack your hospital bag, you just never know when it can happen. I got a month left but have my bags ready on standby. Xx

babbit87 · 22/01/2021 08:25

Good luck for today @IamC not long for those newborn snuggles!!! 💕

Yep had my bags packed for a while now, a friend of mine was 7 weeks early so that's always been on my mind! Although I know ill be unpacking and repacking soon as was done so long ago 😄

Snake wise- Lucozade, juice, crisps and lots of cereal bar type things (more for DH than me!)

jbx10 · 22/01/2021 09:42

Had my growth scan yesterday not sure what to think! She's been measuring on the 10th percentile all the way through my scans. Yesterday seems to have a had a huge growth spurt and she's now exactly on the average. Good news because means induction will be unlikely but I'm not convinced the scan was v accurate, the woman who did it didn't seem as competent as the others and I'm also worrying if it is normal for her to have had such a growth spurt in a 2 week period! Got another scan in 2 weeks so I suppose I'll see how she is then, trying to take the positives - at least all was healthy!

Safxxx · 22/01/2021 10:28

@@jbx10 Awe lovely news, i guess your so used to being told its small that now its not sinking in? These last stages are all about gaining weight for little one, so hopefuly she has and will carry on picking it up till birth. 🤞

jbx10 · 22/01/2021 10:50

@Safxxx thank you! Yeah I think so because I wasn't expecting it - great news but I wasn't sure if that leap in growth was normal might end up the other way with a big baby now 😂 but feeling positive nice to know I can probably go naturally now too xx

OnNaturesCourse · 22/01/2021 12:08

@jbx10 that's awesome news about her growth - she must be gearing up and getting ready.

I've had a tonne of discharge this morning, and it's ever so slightly brown tinged and very thick - not what I would expect. Wondering if to call midwife or not, or see how it goes. My only concern is I'm "home alone" with DC right now and no one to mind her if I need to go in. I'd need DP to come home and that takes about a hour or so.

@jbx10 aw that’s great news! I don’t think growth scans are accurate at this stage. Babies aren’t in the best position to be measured and they’re too squished. Is she head down?

My baby went nuts last night, thrashing around like mad for over four hours with very little break. I kept thinking it’ll settle in 30 mins. By 1am I gave up after some Googling and messages on other threads here stating it could be a sign of distress. I phoned the midwife, v unhelpful. Just asked if I’m a ftm and told me to go to sleep 🙄. I’ve only phoned them once in 8 and half months, don’t think I’m that overly anxious. She said it’s probably just changed it’s pattern of movements... but they tell us to phone if there’s a change in the pattern! 🤷‍♀️

@OnNaturesCourse that’s exciting things are moving! X x x

OnNaturesCourse · 22/01/2021 12:48

@Muriel84 that's a terrible service from the midwife! It can be a sign of distress and my blue folder has lots of leaflets in it about "any change in movement". How is your little one today? More settled?

Char41zam · 22/01/2021 13:04

@OnNaturesCourse I have had 3 days of thick discharge but it’s easing off now, think it’s part of my plug that’s came away! I have the hospital next Thursday if I don’t go myself before so they will check my cervix then, have you got cramps still?

Piccalily19 · 22/01/2021 14:16

Hiii everyone, hoping I can join! I was on the original two week wait thread for Feb back in June but lost track of it since then. I do recognise some user names though 😊
Im a FTM due to have a little boy on Feb 7th. Had a few minor pains at the front today but think they’re just stretching pains/trapped wind 🤣
Looking forward to seeing the first baby announcement!

jbx10 · 22/01/2021 14:18

@Muriel84 yes she was head tucked right down so they couldn't get any measurements of her head! I definitely think she's done a full spin in the last 2 weeks and now ended up back with her head down! 😂 that is out of order from the MW of course you were right to call with any movement concerns! How has your little one been today? Xx

Muriel84 · 22/01/2021 14:18

@OnNaturesCourse yeah I thought it was a bit rubbish. They keep telling us to contact them if there’s a change in movement. It had a quiet early morning which is usually when it’s busy but seems to be doing it’s normal wriggles now. X x

Muriel84 · 22/01/2021 14:21

@jbx10 ah yes I had exactly the same. Both the sonographer and the obstetrician struggled to measure the head cos it was too deep. I wonder with all the moving last night if mines changed direction. My bump seems ok today. Hard to know what’s going on in there tho. The thrashing about was quite aggressive.

Hi @Piccalily19 👋 I remember your name from the 2ww. Seems a long time ago! X x

@Char41zam kinda, getting really random cramp pains and my stomach is solid but it's more of a constant solid right down the front then the sides will tense up but not in time with the cramps. Goodness knows what the baby is up to in there lol

Told you I'd be popping in for a moan today....

So despite being told I was having a c section, only at last minute for a new consultant to say 'nah, your fine for an induction'.....looks like they have no idea what they're doing!

I'm told I do need a c section after all. And a specialist one because of the fibroid, and he's not available until Thursday next week. And I have to stay in until then 😩

Char41zam · 22/01/2021 14:35

Awww no @IamC that’s shocking messing you about! Why can’t you just be at home? Safer for you and baby and you will be more relaxed surely? X

babbit87 · 22/01/2021 14:39

@IamC oh thats terrible how they've treated you! What is their reasoning for keeping you in? Xx

IamC · 22/01/2021 14:46

A couple of reasons.

In case my waters go naturally before Thursday. There's a risk of the cord dropping out apparently and it will be dangerous for the baby.

And because it's a c section, the baby's lungs won't get squeezed on the way out so they want me to have steroids. Steroids apparently wreak havoc with diabetes - and as I have gestational diabetes they will need to keep me on a drip.

They said they won't hold he hostage but they would seriously not recommend me leaving, and I would need to sign something to say I understand the risks of leaving. So obviously I'm going to stay.

OnNaturesCourse · 22/01/2021 14:50

That's terrible. Did you ask why you were given false/wrong information?!

OP posts:
babbit87 · 22/01/2021 14:52

OK, so very good reasons then. It will be reassuring to be in hospital in case of any eventuality. Sounds like you'll be in good hands.

We will be here to entertain you! 😁 maybe ask DP to bring you some headphones then get into some Netflix / BBC iplayer stuff xx

Thegirlhasnoname · 22/01/2021 15:55

@IamC I’m due in the night before my section for a sliding insulin scale due to gestational diabetes so, although I get why they recommend you be kept in, it is still shoddy the way they have treated you. Even more so when you consider how woeful hospitals are at providing food for a GD diet - if the steroids don’t make your numbers spike then the food will!

Hopefully your DP can bring you lots of good GD snacking/pairing foods along with a fully charge tablet for Netflix
