@rosegoldivy ahh, see they never told me much. I was only 19 at the time, maybe they knew something was going to happen. But I did read up on vanishing twin syndrome so I kinda knew what had happened.

rosegoldivy · 26/11/2020 07:27

@queenbee95 it was when I had went for an early scan at the EPU when I was 7 weeks and found out it was twins for the first time, the sonographer really put the fear into me as she was saying stuff like - now maybe don't get your hopes up, we don't confirm twins till 12 weeks, high risk of one pregnancy terminating. Etc
Thinking back she really stressed me the fuck out.
Out of curiosity, and don't feel you have to answer, did you go on to have a healthy singleton pregnancy after that? It's such a weird phenomenon.

Queenbee95 · 26/11/2020 07:30

@rosegoldivy my first scan was around 7 weeks, could see one abdominal and then the second HB internal. Went back at 9 weeks and all looked good.
It was at the 12 week scan they said one had stopped growing at around 10 weeks.
Yeah he’s a very healthy 5 year old now. He was born early at 36 weeks but other than that he’s been fine

rosegoldivy · 26/11/2020 09:49

@queenbee95 thank you for sharing that. I had only ever read about it after learning we were having twins.
Hope he's now looking forward to being a big brother ❤️

Queenbee95 · 26/11/2020 12:47

@rosegoldivy I’ve never met anyone who’s gone through similar.

He’s already a big brother to my second son who’s 2. He’s super excited to be getting a baby sister now though!

bubblybrit · 26/11/2020 14:01

So I have my booking appointment this afternoon. Think it feels more real that I’ll have two children shortly. I must admit that I feel a bit nervous. My toddler DD is amazing but running around after her is sooo tiring. I don’t know how I’ll cope with two! The reality has started to set in now. Is it normal to feel a bit anxious when expanding your family? 😬

Gaxy1 · 26/11/2020 16:13

@bubblybrit I’ve just had my booking appointment today too. It’s my first so I don’t think it’s fully sunk in yet.

MJM1608 · 26/11/2020 17:06

@TheDaydreamBelievers so sorry to hear you had bad news OP - hope you take enough time to recover from this ❤️

Would it be sensible to create a new thread - as OP has had bad news, and will receive notifications for all these comments? I’m sure she is really struggling & might find other peoples progression hard to read. x

TheDaydreamBelievers · 26/11/2020 17:13

Hey @MJM1608 thanks for thinking of me but its honestly okay to keep using this thread 😊 I have it set not to send me notifications for the thread . Wishing you all the best x

@Gaxy1. The midwife was running behind schedule so I wasn’t taken until 45 mins after my appointment time. She was a student midwife so also took a little longer than normal. A 2.5 hour round trip for me! Did you get your scan date at the appointment?

Gaxy1 · 26/11/2020 18:27

@bubblybrit I’d already had the scan date for the 18th December. So not too far away.
Mine was by phone today and she was bang on time so I can’t really complain. Will get my bloods etc when I get the scan. Hope yours went ok.

Buttercup20 · 26/11/2020 18:28

Hi ladies I've not posted for over a month but decided to stop by. I'm roughly 11+4 and I'm really struggling with nausea and sickness this week actually feels like the worst so far. Today's been the lowest I've felt and just feel so awful and so so tired. I'm hardly leaving the house just now as I'm scared I'm going to be sick outside. I was given anti sickness tablets but they just give me restless legs and make me feel extremely agitated so I've had to stop using them too. Sorry for so much moaning 😳

12 week scan is next Thursday and I'm getting so nervous that they find an issue and that my OH isn't allowed in.

bubblybrit · 26/11/2020 18:39

@Gaxy1. I thought mine might have been over the phone as I’m a Tier 4 area but my letter confirmed it was face to face. Got bloods taken and scan booked for the 22nd. I’m paying privately for the NIPT though so will have that on the 12th. At least that will be two opportunities to see baby before xmas.

Queenbee95 · 26/11/2020 19:27

I have my flu and whooping cough jabs tomorrow, not looking forward to those.
Really been considering a home birth recently, Dh isn’t all too keen. Need to wait on phone call from haematologist first, I may have to take fragmin injections either during pregnancy or just after I have baby. Hopefully not at all as I struggled with my first, I really couldn’t inject myself and it was a nightmare getting to the drs surgery everyday

rosegoldivy · 26/11/2020 19:30

@buttercup20 I feel you! I have been sick non stop since 8 weeks, currently 13+3, Ive got my energy back, but I'm still being sick daily.
What kind of anti sickness meds did they give you? , if you feel they aren't helping go back to doctor and they will try another one. They start off giving you the cheapest anti sickness meds (shocker) so there are better ones available.
Try not to worry about scan, I told myself I was so sick as baby obv strong and healthy and using all my energy to grow!!
What health board are you in? I'm sure your partner will be there with you.

Buttercup20 · 26/11/2020 19:38

@rosegoldivy i got given cyclizine as the one the midwife prescribed me was apparently far too expensive and I couldn't get it, so that explains that then!! I've lost 8lbs so far but tbh I'm extremely obese so it's not a concern! I have absolutely zero energy going for sleeps most afternoons, actually so relieved I've been on furlough for the past 2 months again 🙈
I'm in South Lanarkshire 🙂 just wish it was this time next week so I knew everything was ok!!

rosegoldivy · 26/11/2020 21:33

@buttercup20 yup they start off on cyclizine, that's what I'm on. It only really takes the edge off of feeling sick for me. Defo go back to your doc and tell them it's not working / causing side effects / making you miserable and ask for an alternative, they can't refuse you. Can't belive the cheeky bastards gave you a diff one from what your midwife recommended in the first place 😂
Aww same here iv lost about 11lbs but will not do me any harm as I am medically classed as a fatty obese 😂
We're in NL so total lockdown too, and I had a friend go for a scan 2 days ago and her husband was there so hope that helps ease that stress

Buttercup20 · 26/11/2020 22:05

@rosegoldivy oh that's good to know thank you for that hopefully we'll be ok then 🤞
I'll give the dr a phone and see what they say hopefully I can try something else. Yeah you think they'd just give you what the midwife mentioned in the first place! Your body is going through enough without them messing with meds!

sunnysideup3 · 27/11/2020 09:53

I'm in Glasgow health board, also tier 4. I asked my midwife at my booking appointment and she said my husband can attend the scan. It was such a relief to hear that, I didn't even realise how stressed I was about him not being able to attend! My scan is on Monday, cannot wait!

Really sorry to hear about those struggling with sickness. I'm 12wks and I don't feel as nauseous during the day anymore however I feel completely depleted by 2pm. I take my laptop to my bed and 'work' there. And I take a lot of long breaks to go lay down for a bit. So grateful to be able to wfh right now. First trimester is awful, fingers crossed it gets better.

Buttercup20 · 27/11/2020 10:12

@sunnysideup3 good luck for your scan on Monday, glad to hear husband can attend. I'd feel so heart sorry for them not getting in as they must feel so excluded at the moment it's a shame. Although my OH is probably more then glad to not have symptoms right now though 😂😂

My boss just phoned me to tell me I'm not working next week and just to use the time to rest such a lovely thing for him to do.

Gaxy1 · 27/11/2020 14:01

I’ve been told by my midwife to phone the day before the scan to confirm if my partner can come. I’m Glasgow.

Buttercup20 · 27/11/2020 15:26

It's all so confusing ai wish they'd all just stick to the one rule 🙁

Wanderdust · 27/11/2020 16:40

@bubblybrit I'm awaiting my private test results, where did you book with? I expected a quick scan before it (to date the pregnancy) but didn't expect that the lovely lady spent ages taking videos for us and printed out photos, was amazing! I was shocked at how big the baby was, and how wriggly.

I have my first (NHS) scan on Tuesday, good luck to all the mammas having theirs soon too Smile. I was told it was fine for my hubby to come but wonder if I should double check now we're in lockdown in Glasgow.

MrsKMum · 27/11/2020 17:28

Just wanted to pop on and say I can't fault the staff at ERI Obs Triage. Was sent by my GP yesterday to be fully checked over, basically I've had an awful headache since Monday and started being violently sick yesterday despite no sickness throughout my pregnancy. All the staff were amazing and did so many tests, reassuring me and DH that Squidge is okay. Must be so difficult for the staff with all the COVID precautions, especially in that kind of environment, but everyone was so nice Smile Obviously not recommending everyone pops along for a jolly but thought it would be reassuring to know if you do have to go, that everyone is nice and super friendly.

barbiemummy20 · 27/11/2020 17:51

I am patiently (not) waiting to head for our gender scan tonight 😂 can't believe we are at this point to find out 💕💙👶🏻
