Thank you @TheDaydreamBelievers

Any mums to be under the care of GGC health board? Have you been able to bring your partners to midwife appointments or scans?

Queenbee95 · 04/10/2020 20:15

Can I just tell them at the scan that I want it done? Or would I need to phone Mw and have notes changed too? I thought it was quite an awful way to put it, I did mention about the whole knowing or being ready if anything was wrong with baby but she just said “if you won’t terminate then you don’t need to know”

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/10/2020 20:17

@sakuramiyagi I'm ggc and my letters said come alone but I called and you can bring a partner to the 12 week scan (QEUH for me) . The 9 week appt is being done by phone so no partner at that

Unfortunately @Queenbee95 it sounds like you'll have to be quite firm. Id contact the midwife line and say it was marked no at the appt but you've changed your mind and would like it done

My booking appointment is at the New Victoria, which I thought was a bit unusual. If others are getting phone appointments, I think I will call them to check.

That’s crap!! Id ask to speak to someone else.
ScottishStardust · 04/10/2020 20:24

@Sexnotgender non west coaster here! I'm NHS Grampian.

My booking appointment was over the phone but going in for bloods in a week - which I think it's due to a recent prescription for iron so they wanna check how that's going too.

Scan date should be in the post but I have been told DH can come with me!

singleandttc · 04/10/2020 20:57

@Queenbee95 honestly that midwife was awful! Your wishes should be respected no matter what they think. If you want to know then you have the right to know. "If you won't terminate" also is very inappropriate language. I'm very much pro choice, but I think it should be a choice. I know plenty of people who have had pressure to abort their babies after a diagnosis. I didn't know until after birth, but they were surprised I was taking her home with me.

Don't be afraid to be firm with them. Phone and ask them to change it and speak to the sonographer at the scan to make sure they do it.

SugarPlumRoar · 04/10/2020 21:54

@Queenbee95 that midwife is awful and utterly inappropriate what she said and how she said it. It's absolutely not her decision to make and her personal opinion shouldn't have been expressed or foisted onto you.

I'm outraged on your behalf. I think your going to have to be quite firm with her that you want it.

Queenbee95 · 05/10/2020 06:58

She was my mw with DS1 and I really loved her back then (he’s 5 now). I just thought it was a really cheeky way of putting it, like yeah I may not terminate a baby with abnormalities but it would be great to know before hand, wouldn’t it?

butterfly193 · 05/10/2020 07:02

How are we all feeling today? I feel very nauseous and sore wish I could just sleep all day 💤💤

TheDaydreamBelievers · 05/10/2020 07:43

@butterfly193 - I've just got comedy big boobs but nothing else (6wks exactly). Going to drop testing to only once a week now. Need my scan to hurry up! (Start of nov)

Fruitloops34 · 05/10/2020 07:59

Morning all,
I’m very lucky that I’m working from home so I can literally roll out of bed at 8.55 ha!
However I’ve had such a sore stomach in bed all night caused by wind, might have to take a wee windeze to alleviate it somehow.

Hope you all have the most pleasant day you can 😊

butterfly193 · 05/10/2020 09:02

I'm still trying to get my booking appointment sorted have emailed and phoned for a week and still nothing not sure what else to do Hmm

Buffbeag · 05/10/2020 09:34

@butterfly193 I am FV as well and have been trying since last Monday as well to get a booking appointment. Apparently they are short staffed so have been struggling to get back to everyone which is a bit frustrating. At least not the only one though

butterfly193 · 05/10/2020 09:38

@Buffbeag aw glad I'm not the only one then just want to have everything organised I hate not knowing what's happening Grinthey must be really busy.

Buffbeag · 05/10/2020 09:40

@butterfly193 tell me about it I am nearly 9 weeks so a bit worried that I haven't yet spoken with anyone about it 😕

ScottishLassie91 · 05/10/2020 09:58

Sorry folks, on for a bit of a ramble as heads all over the place!
Called my GP this morning who asked if I'd spoke to my midwife about the sickness. The receptionist has put a message over to the docs for a prescription.
I phoned my midwife like they told me who put me through to triage. They've said I've to get anti-sickness meds but if they don't work I'll need to go in as they'll be worried about how dehydrated I'm getting and then decide what to do from there.
I mentioned I had a tiny bit of spotting and now they've told me I need to contact the EPU as well but I cant get through. Don't want to tell husband just now while he's at work and worry him unnecessarily as well :(

butterfly193 · 05/10/2020 10:01

Aww @ScottishLassie91 hopefully the meds work for you!

Happy2be · 05/10/2020 10:04

@SugarPlumRoar @Fruitloops34
Im in the same area as you guys too 🙈 how crazy!

PandemicBabyPlz · 05/10/2020 10:09

Hi all! Just spotted this new thread for the Scottish lassies woo! So I’m around 5 weeks +3. Estimate my due date as around 4th June? I’ve just phoned up to try and get my booking appointment made and been told like a few others that it will just be a phone call whenever they get to it... I asked if they could be a little more precise with rough date and had to give them a best time window as that’s all they could work to. So likely going to have to drop out of work if the phone rings - thankfully working from home but its still not ideal, especially for a 45 min appointment. I’m east Ayrshire btw, so hello those nearby! And this is my first.

I seem to have progressed to the no symptom stage which is a little weird, but I guess I should be glad and make the most of it. I’m not sleeping well at all, I’m tired and can nap during day at the weekend but come bed time I just toss and turn all night. Ooft!

I hope everyone is doing well and I’ll have a wee peak through the thread so far.

mrswilso · 05/10/2020 10:12

My phone appointment was supposed to start 11 minutes ago...😤

mrswilso · 05/10/2020 10:27

Blooming midwives off sick and they didn't phone to cancel 😡
