@slp92 I need to take a higher dose due to epilepsy medication and a slightly higher risk of neural tube defects.
I was taking it for a few months before TTC as they said I really has to be on it for at least a month for it to be fully effective for me.
I get it on repeat prescription from my doctors and just take a vitamin d vitamin along with it xx

barbiemummy20 · 08/10/2020 17:18

I was advised to take folic acid and vitamin d by midwife when I spoke to them to inform of pregnancy, I have been taking them both daily! Heartburn today is driving me nuts, looks like rennie will be my new bestie xx

LOG8 · 08/10/2020 17:28

That's good to know @Welliedays, I just need to be more patient

WeeWorrier · 08/10/2020 17:30

@LOG8 I’m the same and I’m NHS Lothian, called on Monday and they gave me my dates for first appointment and scan appointment. I was concerned as it seemed like a long time not to see anyone and had no info. However today I received a very big pack in the post with confirmation of my appointments, information about vitamins, a book with what I need to know about scans and tests so feeling a bit more at ease now x

Welliedays · 08/10/2020 17:45

@log8 it is so frustrating/weird isn't it. You kind of expect everyone to spring into action, but they really don't! You are totally left to your own devices until 8 weeks. I find it strange they don't even confirm you're pregnant either, they just totally take your word for it!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 08/10/2020 18:24

Yeah absolutely @Welliedays - what if I were just a total fantasist?!

@singleandttc that's great to hear 😊

Congratulations! To be honest, I got zero info on the phone and I’m in Tayside. Didn’t even get a date for my appointment, just told that someone will get in touch around 8 weeks. I did some research on the vitamins and phoned them today about the folic acid and got told I should be taking 5mg! It’s a little worrying!

rosegoldivy · 08/10/2020 18:57

@singleandttc great news ❤️

CardiganBlobby · 08/10/2020 21:47

Hello ladies, hope you are all doing ok.

I got an appointment letter through for Nov 3, had nothing else though. The Nov 3 appointment will have me at 11ish weeks - should I have an another type appointment before then? No idea what I should be expecting in these coronavirus times.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 09/10/2020 08:01

@CardiganBlobby - in NHS ggc I have a 9 week (7 week) appt by telephone and a 12 week (10 week) scan appt through.

  • times given are NHS estimates of how pregnant based on LMP. Times in brackets are my estimates cause I had super irregular periods

CardiganBlobby · 09/10/2020 08:51

Thanks @TheDaydreamBelievers I have heard so little from the booking team I am not sure what to expect at all.

If any other ladies in FV can comment on what they are hearing appointment-wise it would be good to hear if the boards are doing anything differently. Who knows, I might get a call out of the blue in the next week or so.

LOG8 · 09/10/2020 10:51

@WeeWorrier that's really reassuring to hearing you got a pack of info in the post. Hopefully that will arrive soon for me too.

@Welliedays I does feel weird that they take your word for it. I keep having to look at the test to make sure I am not making it it up.

I'm having a wee panic this morning as (TMI warning!) there was a light pink tinge when I wiped after going to the loo Confused.

WeeWorrier · 09/10/2020 10:57

@LOG8 I’ve had that too!
I keep taking tests just to be sure I’m still pregnant. But I don’t know if/who I should call about that because I don’t have a midwife yet x

LOG8 · 09/10/2020 11:09

@WeeWorrier I took another today too. I think I might just start testing very couple of days to make sure I'm still pregnant. I had a google search and it looks like as long as it's pink not bright red it just sometimes happens. I'm really hoping that is right.

sunnysideup3 · 09/10/2020 11:52

I also sometimes feel that the positive tests were all a dream - cannot wait to have it confirmed by a professional haha

TheDaydreamBelievers · 09/10/2020 13:02

Yeah same @sunnysideup3. Im 6+5 and 100% do not feel pregnant today. If my boobs werent huge I'd be thinking I had dreamed the whole thing.

Im trying to test only once per week so holding off till Monday (weaning myself off them haha)

I think we might tell our parents this weekend. November needs to hurry up already! (scan)

Not sure where in the country everyone is, but has anyone been in touch with Baby Scan Studio Perth recently? I’m trying to book an early reassurance scan but the number isn’t ringing, wonder if they’re closed at the moment!

barbiemummy20 · 09/10/2020 14:15

My scan is at 5:45 tonight, today is dragging in and I am feeling so anxious! I think the one I went to 4 weeks ago is playing so heavy on my mind she said it could be too early or not viable and I have become obsessed with the idea it's going to be not viable, just took another test and it's still strong positive but my god kind games are a b@tch 💕

GrandTheftWalrus · 09/10/2020 14:50

My private scan isn't till the 20th and it seems so long away. I'm also 8+3 today but it feels like I found out months ago!

@TheDaydreamBelievers you are so organised! I can barely get off the couch lol!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 09/10/2020 15:22

I mean... this is exclusively to avoid my research work @Fruitloops34 Wink and to make me feel vaguely in control Grin...

Im almost feeling anxious about how few symptoms I have - feeling totally normal today! Sorry to hear you are knackered!

OP posts:
Buffbeag · 09/10/2020 15:22

@CardiganBlobby I am FV too. I called and emailed them 2 weeks ago. Only received an email reply on wed asking me to fill out a form and send it back by email.

That's it, still waiting. I'm 9+3 and have no appointments or anything booked yet. It's very frustrating especially for first timer as you don't know if you are doing everything right, plus I have had 2 previous MC so was even more anxious.

I ended up having a private scan a few days ago just to make sure everything was as it should be which thankfully it was but to hear nothing from the NHS is disappointing.

ScottishStardust · 09/10/2020 15:32

Awww I'm so lonely up here in Grampian! Haha!!
