Thought it might be an idea to create a splinter group as the main one is getting massive!

Im 5+3 weeks, first time mum
Midwife telephone appt 13/10
Scan 03/11

Feeling burpy, bloated, and anxious!

@thedaydreambelivers it's exciting not knowing.

We had agreed on a girls name and then when DD was born the name we had didn't suit her and we were back to square one so she was baby no name for a day 😂😂

You never realise how many people you don't like until you begin to think about baby names 😂😂

Buffbeag · 06/10/2020 12:17

I am not too fussed about finding out either, I am sure that FV won't tell you the gender anyway so would need to get private scan to tell us so we will probably just leave it.

My OH is desperate for a girl, this is my first but he already has a girl. I think he is just worried that he won't know what to do with a boy haha!

I must admit starting to get fed up as still not heard anything from midwife team and it has been a week and a half since I first called. Got my private scan tonight though so that is keeping me going.

We had a shortlist and hadn’t decided on his name until after he was born.

Sooo true! Names are so difficult, the kid who bullied you at school, the names of friends children, people who annoy you. All off the list😂

mrswilso · 06/10/2020 12:51

@rosegoldivy hubby wants a surprise and I'm not really fussed so I think we'll wait to find out.
I called my GP this morning, I'm getting a call back tomorrow and having him refer me to GGC midwives. The receptionist was lovely when I explained (ahem...cried 🤣) about what was going on, she said it won't be a problem. I've lost all faith in the Lanarkshire ones.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 06/10/2020 12:57

Haha yes we have had a few chats that go

"Ooh what about x as a name?"
"Urgh not x, x makes me think of so and so who is a knob"

We also loved Keir ages ago... but now everyone would think they were named for Starmer!

Sexnotgender · 06/10/2020 13:09

Keir is lovely but no I wouldn’t use it right now. Also Dominic I like but again nope!

barbiemummy20 · 06/10/2020 13:19

@TheDaydreamBelievers my hubby is opposed to the one boys name I love but he named our dd so I am going to battle for my boys name should it be a boy 💙 girls names are easy we have 2 we have agreed on 💓 I need to rain myself in I am on looking at prams and cribs all day and looking at clothes 😂

sunnysideup3 · 06/10/2020 13:28

We found girls names so easy, we have lots we agreed on. But we haven't found a single boys name that both of us like haha

ScottishLassie91 · 06/10/2020 13:59

We went through some names from the Scotland 2019 list ... DH was like how many more are there, surely weve covered everyone and there was still over 1000 to go!

Definitely though you realise how many people who really get on your gears when it comes to names.
Also feel like its so much pressure. I loved Luna for a girl but DH has said no regardless as he thinks people would call her Luna-tic Grin

rosegoldivy · 06/10/2020 14:05

@scottishlassie91 luna-tic 😂😂😂 Aww that really made me laugh

GeneralClux · 06/10/2020 18:16

Hello,

Just came across this group and it was lovely to read posts from folk at a similar stage and in similar headspace!

I'm in Ayrshire, 6+1 based on ovulation date (although I'd be 7+4 based on last period) so due sometime in late May!

This is our first. The midwife called me briefly yesterday to book my telephone consult for 8/10, was only a week after I called to register so I'm glad they didn't keep me waiting too long! Don't think we want to find out the sex but I may yet change my mind!!

PandemicBabyPlz · 06/10/2020 19:34

@GeneralClux welcome! And another Ayrshire mummy to be! That’s great you got a phone call only a week after, gives me some hope. I’m a bit nervous with how the system is going to work with all the covid restrictions. My first too! I think it’ll all feel so much more real when I’m talking with someone else about it and not just DH.

Buffbeag · 06/10/2020 19:35

Got my private scan in an hour and nervous as hell! 😥

ScottishLassie91 · 06/10/2020 19:42

Fingers crossed for you @Buffbeag 🤞 x let us know how it goes 💜 xx

Buffbeag · 06/10/2020 19:44

Thanks @ScottishLassie91 I have been having stomach pains all afternoon and in the bathroom constantly. Think it's the nerves 😕

TheDaydreamBelievers · 06/10/2020 20:00

If it helps @Buffbeag I have a dodgy tum and cramps today and think it may just be first trimester playing havoc with digestion!

Hello @GeneralClux and great name! I'm 6+2 based on ovulation and 8+2 based on period Hmm (had 2 in 6 months so cant trust them!)

@buffbeag hope your scan has all went well and you got to see your wee baby safe and well

Buffbeag · 06/10/2020 21:34

Scan went well, saw the wee heartbeat and measuring exactly 9 weeks so all is as it should be.

The sense of relief 😊

Now just to wait on the actual midwife appointments whenever that actually happens 🙄

rosegoldivy · 06/10/2020 21:36

@buffbeag Aww yeaahh, so glad all went well. Hopefully will help any anxieties you might have had. Such a good feeling seeing it on screen.

Cannot wait till mine now

ScottishLassie91 · 06/10/2020 21:42

Oh that's fab news @Buffbeag! You must be so relieved and excited 🥰 xx

mrswilso · 06/10/2020 21:48

Aah so lovely @Buffbeag 💕 glad it went well ☺️

SugarPlumRoar · 06/10/2020 22:08

So glad it went well @Buffbeag. Hopefully any anxiety that you have will settle a bit now

GrandTheftWalrus · 06/10/2020 22:17

Great news @Buffbeag. My private scan is 2 weeks today and I should be 10wks. But depends what they date me.

Buffbeag · 06/10/2020 22:25

Thanks guys, feel much better now I have at least seen something and it feels more real now 😊

ScottishLassie91 · 06/10/2020 23:04

FYI for anyone researching childbirth ... dont. Terrified at the thought of a csection recovery but also of tearing with a natural birth. Google did not make me feel better 😭
