Hello! So I'm 32+4 with my second, a girl this time 😊 the whole pregnancy has gone quick as been running round after my toddler, though now I know I'm almost there it's going so slowly! So looking for some buddies to compare notes and pass the time with! Though don't know why I want it to hurry up as I know too well the pain and sleepless nights ahead 🤣 just I think uncomfortable enough now to want her out! Everywhere pretty swollen already, hips hurt and wake me up, I pee all the time even in the night, tired and get some braxton hicks. How are others doing?

Morning @Spark27 and all- hope you’re keeping well.

Crumbsinthecarpet · 31/08/2020 20:56

Any movement on anything anyone? Hope I'm not the only one who is still pregnant and uncomfortable 😂

UserFriendly14 · 31/08/2020 21:04

Still pregnant and uncomfortable here too! Can I add bored to that as well? I realised today that, though I’m looking for any sign of labour, the reality is I’ve still got 3 weeks to go 😬

I was so happy as I thought I could finish my hospital bag tonight but there’s a few bits that still need washing, so I’m laying in bed, both hoping and fighting falling asleep as I know won’t be able to later if I do.

@Crumbsinthecarpet I saw your another thread about pins and needles- hopefully it’ll ease up tonight if you got some good advice. I’m still getting restless legs, which seems to have moved up to my hands as well. Luckily an ibuprofen seems to solve it overnight, but it’s so uncomfortable.

Crumbsinthecarpet · 31/08/2020 21:11

@UserFriendly14 bored here as well 😂 thank you I hope it eases too I have some tubigrip and bandage (didn't want to splash out on wrist supports for using for only a few weeks!) Which I am hoping so much that it will help! All I want is one decent night's sleep before baby arrives!

Elly88 · 01/09/2020 01:36

Awake, bored, uncomfortable and still pregnant too 🙈 getting such bad lower back ache all the time now and also some period type pain but only when laid down in bed. More leaking boobs, headache and acid reflux too. I'm praying it means I'll be early but probs kidding myself. Got my growth scan tomorrow.
Wonder when we'll get our first baby on the thread 😀

Spark27 · 01/09/2020 02:11

Yep, awake and uncomfortable. Probably managed about 2hrs sleep but now I'm wide awake. Got the sneezes as well so everytime that happens I either end up with a shooting pain in my bump or bum. Great.

Been getting a fair amount of backache and bump ache, but I think I'm still in for the long haul. Pretty fed up with the insomnia too, esp as I have a busy few days coming up.

Guessing this is going to be a fun few weeks for us all ladies 😬x

mistletoeprickles · 01/09/2020 07:26

Quiet couple of days here, just the odd bit of backache and plenty of nesting! Just wake alot in the night needing to turn over because my hips hurt. I've also been eating like a horse but as I've only put on 6lb so far that's ok. (Gestational dibabtes seems to be to blame for this, lack of weight gain has worried me a lot so its definitely not a boast).

As we've now hit September we've got to start seeing some babies soon right?

Good luck with your scan today @Elly88

@crumbsinthecarpet, pins and needles all the time sounds awful, I really feel for you

Crumbsinthecarpet · 01/09/2020 08:03

@Elly88 sounds just like me, cramps last night were unreal thought if could have been the start of something, no luck!

@Spark27 I dread getting a cold for this very reason!

@mistletoeprickles I wish I had only put 6lb on this pregnancy 😂 I think I've put on probably 2 and a half stone by this point? Thank god these wrist wraps have helped overnight! Kept the pins and needles and aching arms at bay, had a semi ok sleep! For the first time in weeks!

Elly88 · 01/09/2020 09:52

God I've put on about 3 stone! I put on 4 with ds!! I just blow up like a balloon everywhere when I'm pregnant, so much water weight everywhere it's horrible. I get woken by either hips hurting or a kick in the bladder making me need another wee. Back still kills and can't stand up without feet and legs aching. Eurghhh I don't want 4 more weeks or longer of this! Hopefully this is the birth month and won't go late into October. Scans not til tomoro xxx

UserFriendly14 · 01/09/2020 22:25

Yup to the insomnia that has made an unwelcome return. Kicked DH out of the lounge last night, as I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore and was still awake 1.5 hours later.

I have no idea how much weight I’ve put on. I’m still the same dress size but obv in maternity clothes and have lived in leggings the last 2 weeks!

Still nesting like mad and dragged a grumpy DS to Home Bargains today as I NEEDED a new laundry basket there and then! (Do not let a pregnant, nesting woman loose in the laundry aisle of HB! 😂) I did make it up with a trip to the park this afternoon and ended up carry him home on my shoulders, which hasn’t done my back any good.

Is anyone else with DC putting together an emergency bag for them for when you’re in labour? I thought today that if he needs dropping off anywhere in a rush, things like PJs and spare clothes would be handy.

Spark27 · 02/09/2020 03:02

When I went for my 34w appt I'd put on about 7kgs. I've got my 36w appt tomorrow (36+4) so will jump on the scales and see, just for my own interest. I'm in the same size clothes, but maternity ones. People say I'm all bump, and I was the same last time. But I can tell the different on my thighs, lower back, etc.

OMG, the heartburn is really tonight. I usually dont suffer with it much at all, but tonight its woken me up and is making me feel so sick I cant sleep. Had to prop myself up on the sofa. Annoyingly I feel so sick I cant even stomach the thought of the gaviscon I bought 🙈. Urgh. Glamorous pregnancy.

I need to pack a bag for my DD as she will be staying at my mums when I have the baby. My mum used to look after her 1 day a week so has most of the stuff needed so I just need to pack clothes, bedtime pull ups, etc. I should probably get cracking with that. Problem is DD is so particular about choosing her clothes at the moment I'm not sure I could pack it in advance as she wants to wear the same stuff again and again 🙄

mistletoeprickles · 02/09/2020 06:25

Morning all

I have finally had a good nights sleep 🥳. I slept 10.30 until 5.20 which is amazing for me because I usually wake up with hip pain or to pee!

Ladies with heartburn, have you discussed omeprazole with your GP? I was prescribed it about 3 months ago and it's a serious game changer. I dont take it daily but when I feel it coming on, it settles within about 20 minutes. I'd say on average I'm taking it twice a week.

When we had DS, DD went to stay with MIL. About 2 weeks before we packed her bag and took it to MIL so it was there ready and meant there wouldn't be any panic if I went into labour. This time MIL is coming to stay at ours. Just means the children can stay in their usual/new school/home routine plus due to the gestational diabetes I'm being admitted at 10pm the night before my section.

Our September calendar looks crazy, it's not but I have to put whose where when otherwise DH gets confused, bless him.

Midwife later this morning, just the usual measuring etc check.

I have less than 3 weeks until my section date now, I just need to make it that far! The end is in sight

UserFriendly14 · 02/09/2020 09:18

Genuinely pleased for you @mistletoeprickles! It makes the world of difference. @Spark27 I’m guessing you had less joy, based on the time of your post! Hope both your appointments go well today and your scan @Elly88

Thankfully my heartburn can be kept under control with one Gaviscon tablet. It’s nowhere near as bad as it was with DS.

Sounds like I should get a bag sorted for DS then! I think half the problem (and the cause of a lot of anxiety at the moment) is I don’t know where he’s going until it happens. PIL are meant to be in Spain, but won’t be if quarantine restrictions are happening but could still go away somewhere. DM could be away. 2x DSis is an option. It just depends when it happens.

mistletoeprickles · 02/09/2020 14:58

@Elly88 how did your scan go?

I'm having a weird afternoon, I have pain coming and going but its deep in the left side of my pelvis? I'm tightening whilst it does it but nowhere else hurts?

Crumbsinthecarpet · 02/09/2020 16:12

@Elly88 I put on tonnes of water weight with my DS as well, it's so uncomfortable!
@UserFriendly14 yes I've put DS a bag together and left it at my mum's house as she will be having him, if she's not around and we need to go quickly he's got his normal nappy bag until my mum gets him :)

@Spark27 have you tried any other heartburn stuff like Rennie's? Gaviscan makes me feel sick at the best of times its vile!

@mistletoeprickles how come you have a section booked again I've forgotten 🙈 is it elcs and is it at 39 weeks?

Elly88 · 02/09/2020 16:22

@UserFriendly14 most annoying thing ever isn't it when DH assumes because you've had an hour or two child free that you've been able to completely rest, nap and feel refreshed 🙄
Not packing a bag for DS as he's only 20months so MIL is coming here to have him when the time comes as he's never had a night away so will be much more settled and less upset at us going. Plus if at night then can just leave him in bed etc. Though I can imagine labouring without a toddler and possible MIL in the house is easier!
@spark27 yes! I don't usually get much heartburn but had it bad the other night, also had to sit up in bed for a while and made me feel nauseous. Thankfully hasn't been as bad since so not bothered to get anything for it.
@mistletoeprickles glad you slept well, I haven't been too bad recently, still waking up a lot for a wee but generally going back off pretty quick apart from about 1-2am. How are the pains now?
My appt went well thanks, after being measured to be on the 90th centile by the midwife, from the scan she's only just above the 10th?! Estimated to weigh 5lb 8oz at the moment! So consultant appt was a complete waste of time as expected, as she's within normal parameters so nothing needed to be done. I wouldn't be allowed a water birth was the only thing, though I can labour in the water and get out for the birth. So looks like I'm in for the long haul! Hopefully the scan is right and she is a nice smaller size though!

UserFriendly14 · 02/09/2020 20:55

@Elly88 oh my goodness- I hadn’t even considered being in labour when MIL is here. Maybe I do hope she’s in Spain after all! All good news about the scan- did you get any face close ups?

@mistletoeprickles I think your little one is determined to make its arrival first out of all of us. Unfortunately I don’t have any advice due to previous induction and no BH.

Spark27 · 02/09/2020 22:26

Only tried the gaviscon here. I escaped heartburn with DD and thought I had this time but then I had a few nights with it the other week so got some gaviscon tablets. I cant stand aniseed so got the mixed berry ones (but they still taste like arse) had 1 before bed for a few nights and was fine. But then I forgot them and was still fine, so haven't bothered. Last night was so much worse than before, and couldn't stomach the thought of one of the rank tablet. Bought some peppermint flavour gaviscon liquid today so I'll have some in a min and see how I go. DD was bald when she came out, so will be interesting to see if this one has any hair

I really should start on DDs bag. At least get the basics in (pull ups, underwear, pjs, etc). I just have so much to do tomorrow. Even though shes at nursery my day will be manic- nursery run, then got to pop to town, then mw appt, washing, DDs bag, and I am supposed to be working as well. And yep, DH will come home and think I should have relaxed and napped. When does he think I get the time to wind down and switch my head off?!

Elly88 · 03/09/2020 00:54

Usual night wake up 🙄 I've woken up every hour so far busting for a wee lol. Had a dream that I had my show, haha I'm clearly wishing. Got periody tummy aches again, love to know what the cause of these are at night only?!
@UserFriendly14 yes can't say I'm looking forward to that bit haha, hoping I can be upstairs and leave as soon as she gets here. I plan on going to the hospital earlier anyway this time and refusing to be sent home as my labour progressed so quickly with DS I only just made it back to the hospital in time as we live a fair drive away.
Couldn't see baby's face on the scan as she's head down facing to my back (can't complain as good position for her to birth in), she's been like that for weeks so hopefully won't change now!
@spark27actually jealous of your busy day, I spend mine constantly thinking 'what can I do today to entertain me and the toddler' (been furloughed since March!) big plans tomorrow of a tesco run and then attempting baking an apple pie with DS. He's off to MIL for the afternoon but I have the hoovering and both bathrooms to clean along with some washing. DH made the mistake of saying 'but it's my choice to do those things when MIL has DS instead of resting'... Who else is going to do it?!

OP posts:
UserFriendly14 · 03/09/2020 02:13

Insomnia can do one! Especially infuriating as, given half a chance to sleep during the day, I’m out like a light. Tonight I’ve been tossing and turning (not easy to do at this stage and on a sofa!) along with restless legs/arms/possibly back?! I’ve tried to be off my phone to help but I’m just getting more annoyed the longer I’m awake.

Yes @Elly88 I think leaving ASAP is key there! And makes sense about baby’s face- at least it’s all looking good.

Sorry @Spark27 I am also jealous of your busy day! I did my weekly shop a day early today (yesterday?) just to get me and DS out. MIL is having DS for a few hours on Friday. Hoping I get a few bits done, but I know I’ll end up sleeping!

Ever since DH has been WFH for a few days a week, I’m sure he thinks I have it easier than ever, including an hours nap in the afternoon. What he doesn’t see is DS won’t leave me alone long enough to get anything done! However on the rare occasion that he is the parent in charge, DS isn’t as bothered about following him around and he can get jobs done 🙄

mistletoeprickles · 03/09/2020 06:35

Can I join the no sleep/heart burn club?
This baby is really playing me up, with the possibility my body has just had enough, Braxton hicks, i think, every 8 ish minutes. Some i slept through, some i cried through. I'm exhausted today and we have a busy day 😭. I was hoping for a bit longer in bed but DS decided at 5.30 that he'd had enough sleep!
Heartburn hit about 3.30 but I had an omeprazole and that settled pretty quickly.

@Elly88 glad your scan went well, sounds like she'll be a dinky one, although I'm not so sure how accurate they are?

I saw the midwife yesterday, it wasnt my usual as she was on annual leave and the first thing she said was "oh your all baby". But everything is fine and no sugar in my urine which is always a win when I've got GD.

@crumbsinthecarpet, I'm a 38 week section because DD10 was massive which resulted in a suspected shoulder distosia (sp?) and a horrific tear. I then get it at 38 weeks because of my gestational diabetes, they dont deem delivery any later safe as theres a risk my placenta could give up.

I'm over being pregnant now!

Flower81 · 03/09/2020 07:12

Sorry you guys have had another bad night.

@UserFriendly14 I have exactly that with my DD and DH. He says he just gets on with stuff and leaves her to play, but she never gives me the chance to get stuff done. So frustrating that he thinks it's always that easy!

And @Elly88, arrrrgh! I feel like i recognise those comments too. Our bathroom desperately needs a clean, but it's not getting done by anyone while I ignore it is it! I know it's difficult for dads to feel as involved before the baby is born, we can't escape what it feels like to be pregnant, but it would be nice to feel like they at least appreciate how exhausting and uncomfortable it is.

Crumbsinthecarpet · 03/09/2020 08:15

@mistletoeprickles wow! Was your DD forecast to be massive? I'm nervous about my vbac as DS came out of the sunroof after not progressing after 3 days and his heart rate not recovering like they wanted it to. I'm glad I have the option of tapping out for a section if I need to, I'm quite jealous of your 38 week booked section!

Didn't do my wrist splints tight enough last night and they didn't do the job so not the best nights sleep, looks like it was a bad night for everyone!

@Flower81 it would be very nice for them to carry the baby for a day to get appreciation of how much of a struggle it is! I think a lot of people think it's just like having a big beer belly? But it ain't!

Spark27 · 03/09/2020 12:17

Afternoon ladies. I had a good nights sleep, hooray! The gaviscon must have worked. Tasted awful though. Sorry to all those who are still suffering. Hoping I can survive on the gaviscon as it's not a problem all the time, and I dont have too much longer to go.

Just back from my 36+w appt. Bump still small, 32.5w so 4w behind. But they dont seem fussed as she's just tracking a small line. Heart rate was 155bpm, and shes moving around. Apparently shes 3/5th engaged. Explains the waddling and pressure down there. Booked in for my 38w appt at 38+4. Mw reminded me that I had my DD at 38+4 🙀. But she was dragged out. While I'm done, I am hoping for longer xx

UserFriendly14 · 03/09/2020 13:42

I think we’re all (apart from @Spark27- Don’t worry I’m just jealous!) getting ourselves prepared for all the sleepless nights to come.

Pubic bone is agony today and I can barely walk. Not sure if it’s to do with how I [didn’t] sleep, but mare than likely it’s baby moving down more.

Keeping an eye on movements again today. I’ve had a busy morning admittedly, going for a long walk but it feels like baby’s just not as active. It’s hard to ignore ‘The Feeling’ that something’s not right. DS is having a nap so I can concentrate,
I’ll give it another hour and call hospital if it’s still not right. (I’m anxious so I’m waffling!)
