Hello! So I'm 32+4 with my second, a girl this time 😊 the whole pregnancy has gone quick as been running round after my toddler, though now I know I'm almost there it's going so slowly! So looking for some buddies to compare notes and pass the time with! Though don't know why I want it to hurry up as I know too well the pain and sleepless nights ahead 🤣 just I think uncomfortable enough now to want her out! Everywhere pretty swollen already, hips hurt and wake me up, I pee all the time even in the night, tired and get some braxton hicks. How are others doing?

@mistletoeprickles@Elly88@UserFriendly14
Thanks for advice! I went in to get checked and glad I did even though everything was fine and normal it stopped me worrying!
Thought my waters were leaking too so they gave me a swab, negative so may have just been a little leak 😂😳
@Spark27 love the term belly full of elbows 😂 ditto here this evening

I've been a total emotional wreck all day crying at absolutely nothing and my BACK is terrible feels like the worst ever period pains 😒 when midwife was swabbing for waters she looked at my cervix and says on my notes long and closed... Kind of hoped for some movement by now really :(
Settling down with my tens machine for the evening now

mistletoeprickles · 27/08/2020 21:29

I'll catch up properly tomorrow but I've been checked. Hes fully engaged but it was braxton hicks and theyve not done much to my cervix. I'm exhausted after 2 nights of no sleep

Spark27 · 27/08/2020 21:44

I hope you get to catch up on some sleep tonight @mistletoeprickles

UserFriendly14 · 27/08/2020 22:09

So glad everything’s well with you both.

Here’s to a better night’s sleep for us all and better hormones to come!

Elly88 · 27/08/2020 23:05

Cor yeh belly full of elbows tonight!!
New name suggestions - Isadora/Isadore, Everly/Everleigh, Primrose - thoughts? Or just stick with Freya and be boring 🤣

OP posts:
Bekka94 · 27/08/2020 23:23

Isadora sounds too much like the old childhood programme wizadora 😂 freya is a very cute little name

Spark27 · 28/08/2020 01:20

I really like Everly.

Sleep was going well, and then DD had a bad dream 🙄.

SunStruck · 28/08/2020 05:52

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies! 🥰 do you guys mind telling me what week you're on as I'm late to the party? And also if you feel anything "happening"? As this is my first, I'm not sure what I'm looking for (apart from waters breaking and bloody show but that's later on isn't it?). I really don't think I've had any Braxton Hicks, I never feel it tightening really just the baby moving a lot?

@UserFriendly14 we are having a boy 💙😄 what about you?

@Crumbsinthecarpet I know what you mean! I'm WFH so trying to sit on the ball rather than on a chair, and I'm bouncing when I remember to bounce 😄

@mistletoeprickles ouch I feel for you! Luckily this physio session has helped, I'm doing the exercises they showed me everyday as it's really much better. Hopefully this continues as it was deliberating for a while! Is yours any better?

@Flower81 aw thank you! Yes it was a very anxious time during the first trimester (and up to the 20 week scan really), but has been pretty easy since, mainly because I don't have an anterior placenta and I feel him a lot (he's very active). I think I would have felt differently if I barely feel him! Luckily we're also consultant led now so have had more scans and check ups than most 😄

About names, we have had ours set for months now (since the 12 week scan actually). It's funny because I found the name on a "baby names board"... I love it as it's short, strong and punchy! DH was set on Edward before this (he likes classic names... or as he says, 'it's a Kings' name' 🙄. DH also has a 'Kings' name' 🙄🙄) but I know it would always be shortened to Ed or Eddie which I'm not keen on.

Funny story (or not that funny for my friends) is that when they asked us what name we've chosen we told them, and unfortunately for them it's the same name they wanted for their boy! They are due a month after us. I feel sorry for them but we haven't done this deliberately, we had never discussed names prior to this! It's just bad luck on their part 😫

mistletoeprickles · 28/08/2020 07:30

Morning all.

I've had a much better nights sleep which will hopefully help my mood a bit too.

I panic packed my case yesterday so I plan on going through that properly today because god knows what I actually threw in there in the end!

I got very upset at the hospital yesterday because I wasnt allowed DH there, as well as being exhausted, I just fell apart. Luckily I had a really lovely doctor. The tightenings continued and were visbale on the monitor and the doctor had a good feel too. I was also swabbed for my waters which was negative, however my cervix is slightly open . His words were "your not in labour today but it doesn't mean you wont be tomorrow". Its now a case of place your bets I think! Although no tightenings yet this morning.

I'm hoping to try and get the children out for a walk this morning, theyve literally been stuck inside for two days because I just havent been able to function and completely exhausted. DH is home for the long weekend so that will help

Elly88 · 28/08/2020 08:34

@mistletoeprickles wow that sounds very positive!! I'm jealous you're close! How many weeks are you now? Glad you got a bit better rest, I'd defo sort your hospital bag as sounds like you might be needing it soon 🤣
Thanks all for name talk, think we've settled on a new one, will be weird adapting as she's been called Freya for so long but just really want something more unusual so hopefully be glad in the long run, after all, she's not even here yet. Best I order a new wall sticker in her new name 😂
Welcome @sunstruck, I'm 35+5 weeks and not a squat happening here. I occasionally get braxton hicks but no pain, sometimes lower period type back ache in bed but think it's just my back acheing! Reckon I'm in for the long haul 😩 ill be bouncing and nipple tweaking like a mad woman in another week!

OP posts:
Flower81 · 28/08/2020 08:49

Haha oh well! I don't really know what the name etiquette is in that sort of situation. Three of my friends in the same friendship group all called their boys Ben and I would have loved the name my brother chose for one of his kids, but think maybe that would just be too confusing having cousins with the same name!

And really glad to hear you're feeling looked after @SunStruck

I don't think I've had any Braxton Hicks either, in this pregnancy or for my toddler. I do feel my belly get uncomfortable but would never really describe it as tightening. I'm 35 weeks so still plenty of time to feel stuff happen though. The midwife wasn't sure if the baby was breech the other day, but yesterday evening was so uncomfortable, I'm sure the baby was lying sideways. Hopefully it's all in my head though and they'll get into a good position over the next week or so!

With my daughter I just felt really rotten the day before labour, and then contractions started the next morning so not really any obvious warning signs in advance that something was about to happen, but every pregnancy is different so who knows.

@Elly88 I think Everly sounds really pretty. Primrose is too. Maybe you could play around with them and Freya and have one as a middle name?

@UserFriendly14@Spark27 I love some of those names too! Evie is just lovely. A little girl we met at a baby group is called ottilie and it's just so pretty, a bit unusual but somehow still feels familiar.

I'm really curious about what your names are that you keep having to spell! I'd like something a bit unusual but my husband says the kid will resent me for a life of spelling or explaining their name! 😂

@mistletoeprickles glad to hear you had a better night. Sounds like yesterday was stressful, not surprised you got upset with DH not being allowed in.

Spark27 · 28/08/2020 11:11

@Flower81, my name is a 'normal' name but spelt differently. I've never met someone with it spelt the same way. I always have to spell it for people, and some people dont believe that it's actually spelt that way on my birth certificate (quite a feat as it's only 4 letters!). Although all my friends now say that this is the normal spelling of it for them. I have to say I like it being spelt different. I like that the names not 'odd', but that theres something different about it.

@Sunstruck I'm 35+5 with a 2nd daughter. My DD is due to turn 3 two days after this ones EDD. I cant help with lead up to labour as I was induced last time for RFM. I'm really nervous/intrigued about going into spontaneous labour as I have no idea what it will be like. I didnt have any braxton hicks with my DD (or didnt recognise any) but do get them with this one. At my 34w appt baby was head down and 4/5 engaged, had a growth scan as shes below 10th centile. But shes moving around ok, so might just be small or difficult to measure. Xx

UserFriendly14 · 28/08/2020 11:21

@SunStruck I’m nearly 37 weeks now with a girl! I already have DS who is nearly 2. I’ve been very lucky with my boy, he really is good, so you’ve got some fun times ahead!

I had a good night’s sleep until I woke up at 5am in a mad panic that I hadn’t felt baby move since midnight. Took me a while to realise that it was because I’d been asleep! face slap I then had a bad back as I was in bed, rather than the sofa. Baby’s been a bit quiet this morning so I’m keeping an eye on it. I’m honestly so on edge looking out for any signs of labour now!

Haha! @Flower81 mine is quite a common name now, but certainly wasn’t when I was growing up. There’s still the odd mispronunciation of it. DH’s is a very common name but with a different spelling.

We sat down with the ONS list last night (not that we want a popular name, but just for inspiration) Olivia is still on the list and we’ve readded Emilia as we’re still drawn to it. I still like Evie so not completely ruling it out.

Elly88 · 28/08/2020 13:16

@spark27 @sunstruck my first experience of labour was following a sweep 2 days earlier which immediately gave me my show which carried on over the next couple days. I felt crampy after having it done but that went. Had no pains the day after, the next night I woke about midnight really hungry so got up and made a sandwich, was awake in bed watching TV unable to sleep and about 3am I started getting tightening very similar to braxton hicks but they just gradually got more and more painful. My waters didn't go until just before ds was born in hospital when my body just started pushing on its own.
But if I'm not allowed a sweep this time until 41 weeks then I dunno how my labour will start 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ I feel so crappy though, bit sick, tired, uncomfortable, belly full of elbows, bladder the size of a pea, can't find anything I want to eat, very moody, had enough 😂
@UserFriendly14 had more movement yet? Really hope its not too much longer for you! Least you're past the markers so you can bounce and tweak like mad 🤣 also, I really like Emilia and don't think you should worry about it getting confused with Amelia.
Been for a decent walk in the woods this morning with DS so am knackered now but hopefully it's done some good?!

OP posts:
UserFriendly14 · 28/08/2020 14:56

@Elly88 Yes she’s definitely around now! I think as I’m with DS all the time, I barely have time to take notice of movements but today I’m WFH so I have more time to think about it.

Crumbsinthecarpet · 29/08/2020 09:18

@SunStruck hi! I'm 37+1 :) second child, son turned 2 in July and this one is forecast to be a girl (though my mind still doesn't believe that!) I'm had lots of period pain, lots of Braxton Hicks, lots of "she feels like she's going to drop out of my arse" but nothing regular yet! Mostly just uncomfortable 😂

Anyone else have pins and needles in both hands all bloody night? It's so painful and driving me insane!

Need to have a bounce on the ball today. Has anyone had reflexology in the past? I've got an appointment booked for Friday and hoping it will get sometjing moving if she's ready to move, I'll be 38 weeks by then

UserFriendly14 · 29/08/2020 13:48

@Crumbsinthecarpet that’s exactly how I feel having a girl! Especially as I went to the 20 week scan alone, I keep second guessing myself and wondering if the sonograhper really was sure it was a girl!

No pins and needles at the moment but at this point I feel like I’ve got every other ailment under the sun, so they may as well throw another in. My pregnancy sickness seems to have made a return in the last week. Also no to reflexology but it does sound amazing! Let us know how you get on.

I’ve had a ridiculous amount of fanny daggers today and some are so painful. I really don’t know how my waters are still intact. Is there a proper name for them so I can at least google it or is it just baby stretching?

UserFriendly14 · 29/08/2020 13:53

Just had a quick Google and it looks to be called Lightning Crotch 😂 I think I prefer Fanny Dagger!

Crumbsinthecarpet · 29/08/2020 18:26

@UserFriendly14 also like the term arse javelins 😂

Elly88 · 29/08/2020 19:23

@UserFriendly14 glad she's moving OK.
Can't say I've experienced any fanny or arse daggers or pins and needles.
Just looking forward to getting through this next week so I'm 37 weeks and can go mad on birthing ball and hand expressing and doing anything possible to get her out!! Sick of these mood swings now 🙈 and also can't wait to see what she looks like 😍

OP posts:
mistletoeprickles · 29/08/2020 20:28

Wow a lot to catch up on.

@Flower81 I'm slightly jealous at your lack of Braxton hicks. Although it's been a couple of peaceful days here which I'm really grateful for.

@Elly88 I've been doing a bit of walking too in hope of it pushing things forward but I dont know if it's doing more than giving me achy hips! I also like Everly, its unusual but not too out there and I think very pretty.

@UserFriendly14 fanny daggers is one of my favourite phrases. DH hates it!

@SunStruck I'm behind most of you because I'm an elcs at 38 weeks so week commencing 21st September, currently bringing me in at just under 35 weeks. I'm having a boy, I already has DD 10 and DS3. This is a surprise and last pregnancy. I think i may be the only one on this thread having a boy.

I'm enjoying having DH home this weekend. DD goes back to school at the end of next week so it will be nice to have normality too. School runs and a morning routine are going to be so strange after 7 months but shes definitely ready to go back. We have a birth week childcare plan in place now and a list of who can helps when if he does decide hes coming early. I feel a bit more prepared now which is helping. DH work mates are taking bets on how far I'll go. His boss is saying Tuesday at the latest 😥, I'm not sure I'm ready for that idea but baby definitely put the frighteners up me this week.
We've had 2 friends have babies in the last week and each time we've waited with baited breath in hope they didnt use "our" name. So far we've done ok. One more friend is due a boy the same week we are so hopefully I'm first 😁

UserFriendly14 · 30/08/2020 14:32

Arse javelins 😂

I’m 37 weeks today and it feels so weird to be considered full term. I’m nesting/decluttering like mad and torn between wanting to sit down all the time and get out for a walk to keep active. DS slept at PIL last night and it was so great to have time with DH where I was nice and not a hormonal mess!

I have also now finished work for at least 9 months! dances as best I can at 37 weeks

mistletoeprickles · 30/08/2020 14:47

@UserFriendly14 I've been the same today, I havent stopped. I'm just so restless. I've washed all the beds and cleaned everywhere except the living room as DH and the children are in there, sorted out all the clothes we've been given and generally just gone a bit badshit cleaning crazy! I'm going to give up and having a bath shortly because my hips are aching now.

Congratulations on finishing work 🥳. I havent worked since March. I was furloughed then made redundant. It's been handy as this pregnancy hasn't been easy and I havent had to worry about childcare with school etc being closed but I find it tough mentally. It's nice to go to work to just be me. In a few weeks I'll have my hands full and it'll be the last thing on my mind.

Elly88 · 30/08/2020 22:17

@mistletoeprickles yes I can't walk far either now without my lower back aching like mad. Thankfully this pregnancy my hips are OK walking, just hurt laying on them at night. I'm also with you on some normal routine being nice, even though it means it'll be hard for us in the day. Are you still getting regular braxton hicks? Mine have started up again this evening and my back is really aching. 36 weeks today.
@UserFriendly14 definitely hear you on the one to one time with DH without kids it's crazy how the hormones and bickering vanishes 🤣 Been out for a lovely impromptu date night with DH tonight for our wedding anniversary on Thurs. Lovely meal but as I say, braxton hicks and back ache now awful so had to have a bath, can't say it's helped unfortunately. I also managed to scrape my bump on the next to me crib today trying to get into the wardrobe, got a nice superficial bruise, hoping it doesn't turn to a stretch mark! Luckily I didn't bash the baby at all! Clearly getting bigger than I think 🙈
Can't say I've felt the urge to clean, I didn't get it last pregnancy either haha. But I have noticed the next to me crib sheet is dusty now so will be washing and changing that tomoro 🙄
One more week till full term! Hopefully not many more until labour...

Just chucking a random message in as I lost this thread this morning. Took me ages to find it and want to bookmark my place again x
