Hello! So I'm 32+4 with my second, a girl this time 😊 the whole pregnancy has gone quick as been running round after my toddler, though now I know I'm almost there it's going so slowly! So looking for some buddies to compare notes and pass the time with! Though don't know why I want it to hurry up as I know too well the pain and sleepless nights ahead 🤣 just I think uncomfortable enough now to want her out! Everywhere pretty swollen already, hips hurt and wake me up, I pee all the time even in the night, tired and get some braxton hicks. How are others doing?

@Crumbsinthecarpet your doing amazingly at coping with renovations. I would of cried alot by now! DH keeps finding me doing random things, like Saturday when I cleaned behind the bath panel 🙄 no logic whatsoever to that one.

@Spark27 my 2nd engaged early too but I was a 38 weeks section delivery so I don't know how long I would of gone for.

@Elly88 it's the same here, endless you want to pay for a day out your a bit stuffed! As my maternity pay has been messed up I have no wage this month either! It'll be back paid so at least I know it's coming it's just when!

No raspberry leaf tea here, I only have 4 weeks until my section date. I'm just hoping he doesn't decide he's coming early because they wont sterilise me if it becomes an emergency. Braxton hicks have calmed this week though which suits me fine Grin.

The weather is really crap here today so I'm planning a few little household jobs and I've got to finish my hospital bag!
We know a few people how are due babies close to the same time as us and I'm hoping no one goes for the same name. It's taken months for us to find something we actually like and agree on! Hows everyone else doing with names?

UserFriendly14 · 25/08/2020 09:44

Phew so much to catch up on!

Mum guilt is in overdrive. I can tell just this morning that DS is bored with me. He’s now playing with a clock that I’ve always kept out of his way and he’s happy as larry. He’s off to DM this afternoon for a bit of one-to-one bonding (and I’m off to lunch!) Even as I type this he’s given up on the much longed for clock. Thank goodness for Bing.

I haven’t been on the raspberry tea leaf, basically because I tried EVERYTHING to get DS moving when I was pregnant with him and nothing worked. I still had to be induced and went 11 days over. I think that’s why I worry about spontaneous labour happening as I don’t know what it’ll be like.

I can’t recommend any hip relief either Sad Most nights I’m on the sofa, just so I can prop myself up and not spend the night tossing and turning. DH says he misses me in bed but I have my suspicions! Yes to sleeping on my front again- that sounds most amazing of all right now!

We’ve been few a couple of long walks in the last week and they absolutely did me in. Last one in particular I could feel how low baby was and I’ve had backache last few days. I also had one random contraction last night. I didn’t have BH with DS so it’s possible it could’ve been that instead.

I too have my 36 week app tomorrow and I really want to know how engaged she is! I feel awful for wanting her to come early but I’m so done this time round of being pregnant and I know the last few weeks are the worst!

Argh to baby names!! Me and DH are infamous for not agreeing on anything and DS’ name was pretty much the only one we both did. In fact we were pretty relieved baby is a girl as I know we would have struggled to find another boys name. At the moment I think we’ve got one but I only feel 75% happy with it and there’s another that we’re still considering. I don’t think she’s got much hope of getting a middle name!

Troubledmummy3 · 25/08/2020 12:08

So good to read I'm not alone with all I'm feeling!! I've been given an induction date at 39 weeks of 24th September so the end is in sight but doesn't feel like it! I'm HUGE! Everything hurts (I have SPD) The braxton hicks are the worst! My mum guilt for my other children is through the roof!! I feel like the worst mum EVER as I'm pretty much immobile...so much I wanted to do with them but I've been unable to. All I want to do is sleep but in the day I can't as we've got builders here and at night can't because of the worst heartburn! 😂 Anyone recommend anything that really helps for heartburn? Gaviscon doesn't work, rennie only works for a while and everything seems to set it off!

Spark27 · 25/08/2020 12:39

Thanks for that info @Crumbsinthecarpet. I'll carry on with the tea, but stuck to 1 cup a day until the cramps calm down. I've got no idea if I might go early, or how spontaneous labour would go. I was induced at 38+2 last time for reduced movements. Part of me doesnt want to be induced this time as I'm intrigued about going into labour naturally, but the other half of me is terrified by the idea of it and would like a date to be induced 😅

We've got the name sorted. Dont dare say it though as I'm scared it will slip out around DD, and she'd tell everyone.

Had a terrible night last night. Probably managed about 3hrs sleep. Baby was moving around so much and it was so painful. Had to treat myself to a caffeinated coffee this morning just to have the energy to get DD to nursery. Was on the work laptop at 0400 as I was so awake, but it means I dont need to do much today, so really hoping for a nap. x

Spark27 · 25/08/2020 12:43

I'm afraid I cant help with the heartburn @Troubledmummy3. Fortunately mine isn't too bad and if I manage to fall asleep practically sitting up I can cope.

Elly88 · 25/08/2020 12:50

We've got a name, unfortunately couldn't find anything unusual that we liked so it's a more common name, but we like it :)
Chucking it down with rain here today so took ds to mcdonalds as a treat for lunch, started getting period type pains whilst there, couldn't tell if braxton hicks or just stretchy pains. Now home trying to nap on the sofa whilst DS has his, but of back ache and periody but seems to have settled down a bit more. I hate the disappointment too, not that I expect to go into labor at 35 weeks. Boring afternoon planned of popping to h and M to get some nursing tops, DS won't be enthused but least it gets us out the house!
I wish we had a spare room for me or DH to sleep in, I need the space and we're definitely keeping each other up at the moment. He did say he may reside to the sofa as I have the air con on full blast and he's freezing 🤣 but our sofa is quite firm so wouldn't be able to survive with my hip pain. I also find I get kicked more in the ribs the more propped up I am?

UserFriendly14 · 25/08/2020 20:16

Have had a massive dose of new hormones today. I’ve managed to keep them at bay with DS, perhaps with a little less patience than usual, but poor DH Sad I can’t imagine coming home from work and having my spouse fuming at me for no good reason. I feel awful as I know I’m being moody with him for no reason and it’s completely undeserved. I’ve bolted upstairs to have a cry and a pity party. I’m sure he’s relieved!

mistletoeprickles · 25/08/2020 23:46

Well I'm up wandering aimlessly with braxton hicks Angry. Theyve been on and off since since teatime but have been worse in the last 2 hours. I've left DH sleeping and desperately hoping it's nothing! Despite being massive and uncomfortable, I'm not ready yet.

Heartburn, speak to your GP and get a prescription for omeprazole. Honestly theyve been a saviour. I don't take them daily but when I feel it starting within about 20 minutes I have relief.

Hormones are an area at the moment so I know how your feeling.

I'm going to attempt to settle down otherwise its going to be a very long day with the children on my own tomorrow!

Crumbsinthecarpet · 26/08/2020 08:54

@Elly88 I'm going to have to try the elbow in the butt! No advice on induction I'm afraid, I have no idea :(

@mistletoeprickles haha I'm very stressed in fairness, constantly cleaning 😂 had to put my cleaner off until next week once the plastering is done otherwise it's a waste of money really 🙄

Name wise I think we are sorted but depends what she looks like when she pops out!

Hip relief wise I managed to stop the pain last night! It involves a lot of pillows 😂 I used my pregnancy pillow (one of the queen rose ones that goes all the way around) and squeezed it together so there was a smaller divot in the middle, and had a normal pillow also between my feet and the RELIEF! I'm sure you could achieve the same effect using regular pillows might just need about 6... Probably can't do it every night as it tilted me slightly towards my back even though I was on my side if that makes sense? Would probably get baby in back to back position but good for getting a night of relief!

UserFriendly14 · 26/08/2020 15:51

So glad you managed some relief @Crumbsinthecarpet! I’ve had two good nights sleep now but Sod’s law is I’m still as tired as ever! I too do the half side, half back position on the sofa. I also worry if I start propped up and wake up laying down on my back, but still somewhat propped up, if that makes sense?

Hope the BH calmed down @mistletoeprickles Flowers

I had my 36 week appointment today and midwife seemed surprised at how engaged baby’s head was Grin I mean watch me still go 10 days over, but it’s given me some hope. It’s also given me a kick to sort my ship out though apparently sleepsuits etc are all in the loft so they’ll all definitely need washing again. Apart from them for today, the rest of my hospital bag will be put together tonight.

Elly88 · 26/08/2020 16:31

@crumbsinthecarpet let me know if you manage to get any sciatic massage! I also try and stretch before bed if I have the energy and they're sore which does seem to help a little.
I'm still sleeping awfully so have gone out and bought the DH a memory foam mattress topper and made him up a super comfy bed on our big corner sofa in the hope that I can have the bed to myself 🤣 I find the bedroom better for me as closer to the bathroom, has the aircon, closer to DS if he wakes, and has the waterproof sheet on just incase my waters go at night! Can't wash our sofa covers annoyingly... It's also the only guest bed offering we have now for when family stay (I imagine my mum will come for a few days once baby is here) so they will appreciate the topper too!
@UserFriendly14 glad your 36 week appt was positive! I have mine tomorrow morning. I plan on finding out what the best course of action is for me and baby. Not that I have any idea what I want 😩 induction? Sweep? Natural? So many pros and cons my heads frazzled!
Oh and I am also vile to DH atm, he thinks it's all hormones, I can't tell if he's just being super annoying and useless or if I am just super hormonal 😂
@mistletoeprickles how are you feeling? Did the BH settle down? Mine have though I do keep getting mild period pain and lower back ache at night.
I reckon she'll keep me waiting though, I'm so impatient to have her out and here but then the thought of toddler and a newborn all on my own once DH back to work is so daunting!! And as I don't plan on having any more I know I'll look back and treasure these pregnant days, hard to in the moment though isn't it 🤣

SunStruck · 26/08/2020 18:24

Hi ladies, can I join? 😄 I'm due 28 September and had a scan today, cervix is closed and head still high up so I guess I have to bounce more in my exercise ball!

How is everyone feeling? This is our first by the way so not sure how I should be feeling 😂 this pregnancy have been plain sailing so far (apart from feeling sick in the first trimester) which is godsend as I've had 2 miscarriages before this. 36 years old! A week ago I've developed hip pain and am now going to the physio, she says it's the SI joint and has given me exercises to do to strengthen the muscles around the hip. Feel like a very old person when trying to get out of bed (that's when the hip hurts the most!) to wee about 4-5 times a night!

Flower81 · 26/08/2020 22:50

Hi @SunStruck Smile Glad to hear things have been plain sailing, although I'm not convinced any pregnancy after miscarriage can be, as I know it can be such an anxious time.

I'm definitely with you guys on the hormones. I do feel bad at times that maybe I'm being a nightmare, but then I think we do all have quite a lot going on right now!!

We're finding names so tricky! I feel like there's not anything that really grabs me and I'm not suddenly going to just stumble across something now! My other half thinks it's not urgent just yet as the baby doesn't need to have a name straight away, but I need a bit of time to make sure it feels right... Just wish we liked the same sort of names!

mistletoeprickles · 27/08/2020 06:50

Morning all

Another rough night here Angry I was every 15 minutes nearly all day yesterday. Last night I was exhausted so slept through alot I think but woke every so often with a really painful one. I wouldn't mind if it was actually doing something but without going in to be checked I don't know if it is. I've got a lot of fanny daggers this morning!
Mum guilt is well and truly in, with hiw things were yesterday I managed to keep them safe and fed and that's about the extent of it. I'm going to try and get them out for a walk today.

@Flower81 we had the same problem because we don't like similar names but then I stumbled across something the other week and it's a definitely possibility. I keep calling him it in my head to make sure it works .

@SunStruck welcome to the group. I feel your hip pain. Trying to get out of bed is horrendous. If I'm lay the wrong way I feel like I'm orbiting the bloody earth to get out of bed!

@Elly88 my DH moved onto the sofa bed when we had the hot weather, it's not ideal but it means hes getting a good nights sleep and I'm not disturbing him.

@UserFriendly14 how did you get on with the hospital bag?

Has everyone seen the ONS have released the top names of 2019?

Crumbsinthecarpet · 27/08/2020 08:03

@SunStruck I definitely need to do more bouncing too, I'm just so exhausted by the end of the day it feels too much like exercise!!

@mistletoeprickles painful Braxton Hicks? Sounds like something could be happening if they are that regular! I had a couple of painful one off contractions/bh last night, woke me up from a pretty deep sleep but might have been because I was dehydrated due to the pizza 🤷

Me too with mum guilt, sat here just having a cuddle and watching TV which is about as good as it seems to get at the moment 😢 might have a nap when he does today and see if it makes a difference

Flower81 · 27/08/2020 08:14

Yep! We spent last night looking through the ONS list. Our daughter was a 2019 baby so was interesting seeing how popular her name was and trying to look for inspiration - was quite fun but not sure it got us anywhere!

Flower81 · 27/08/2020 08:17

Hope the painful BH calm down and everyone manages to have (as much as is possible!) a restful, guilt free day x

Crumbsinthecarpet · 27/08/2020 08:42

Need advice, my blood pressure has been elevated over the past maybe 2 weeks, my normal (pre pregnancy or early til about 30 weeks) BP has been around 110/60, now it's up around 130/75 - 135/80, should I give triage a ring? Mum gave me her blood pressure monitor to keep an eye on it because I've got really swollen this week hence me knowing what it's getting up to haha

mistletoeprickles · 27/08/2020 09:22

@Crumbsinthecarpet def give them a call. Swelling and blood pressure are pre eclampsia markers. They can test for it with with a blood test.

I'm still "enjoying" braxton hicks, DH wants me to go and get checked but he cant get away from work so I'll continue on!

Elly88 · 27/08/2020 11:55

Gutted as our name is very high up in the popularity list but that's the one we want and are set on :/ ah well.
Back from my 36 week appt, after faffing about and starting off saying it's best if I can go into labour naturally as the shoulder dystocia with ds wasn't bad at all, to know being booked in for a growth scan and consultant appt on Wednesday as measuring on 90th centile. Though I reckon it'll all be a complete waste of time as highly doubt they'll induce early. My midwife said they don't offer sweeps until 41 weeks with your second either 😩
I would rather labour naturally but feel somewhat deflated. Think as DH is back to normal shifts next week so I'll have DS to entertain on my own 5 full days a week and I'm exhausted!
Good news is she's still head down and in a good position but not engaged which is normal for seconds. Just a waiting game then I guess.
Trying to pluck up the energy to take DS fruit picking this afternoon to pass the time.
Let us know how you get on re blood pressure and braxton hicks!

UserFriendly14 · 27/08/2020 13:28

Welcome @SunStruck Smile I bet you can’t wait to meet your little one- do you know that you’re having?

Hope you managed to get checked out @Crumbsinthecarpet. Definitely worth the peace of mind.

@Elly88 your DH’s bed sounds amazing! I always worry about where my waters will go. Luckily with DS it was in the hospital corridor- I did profusely apologise to the lady who came to mop it up!!
I know late scans are never a good thing, but I do relish the chance to see baby again! You never know, they may decide to induce early! Fingers crossed for you! I am on the exact same page with childcare from next week. I finish work this weekend and, although MIL will hopefully still have DS occasionally, thought of having to entertain him allllll week is not one I’m looking forward to at all. It’s not been the best few days this week with us together as I just can’t entertain him as he needs at the moment. Sad

@mistletoeprickles hope your BH elevates soon- I must admit I didn’t realise they could go on for so long. Again worth checking out for peace of mind.

Got started on my hospital bag, but I was a mess of hormones again last night. Mum Guilt is still in overdrive and DH made a joke that he was the fun parent Hmm Angry I couldn’t stop crying all evening.

@Flower81 “I feel like there's not anything that really grabs me and I'm not suddenly going to just stumble across something now!” This is exactly how I feel! There is one name I love but it’s so popular, I don’t feel entirely comfortable with it and then I just think I don’t want it at all then!

Sooooo many fanny daggers and general stretching down there today. I don’t know how psychological it is, now I know how engaged she is, but she feels so low. I’m really hoping it won’t be long.

Daisysandviolets · 27/08/2020 14:32

Baby was measuring on 91st percentile at 34 week growth scan, terrified I'm going to give birth to a huge baby! 🙈 how is everyone else getting on? Xxx

Elly88 · 27/08/2020 16:58

@daisyandviolets we can be terrief together! I'm also just above 90th centile 😩 why can't I have a nice little 6 pounder for once? Lol.
@UserFriendly14 @Flower81 I feel your name pain. I'm now trying to think if there's anything else I like but literally stuck. Our name is Freya which is number 10 most popular! Though we don't know anyone with a Freya?? Any similar alternative suggestions? Also on our list we're Summer, Quinn, Skye, Alannah but DH is set on Freya and I do love it. Just not the thought of there being 3 in her class! I suppose it will be a nice change as both mine and DS's names are more unusual and require spelling sometimes.
Was so hormonal this morning, positively up beat this afternoon, treated DS to some new autumn clothes and pizza and chocolate trifle for tea!
@UserFriendly14 I'm not even sure I want to be induced, I'd like her out and to have her smaller but apparently that doesn't get rid of risk of her shoulders getting stuck again so I guess I would rather labour naturally if possible, seems ill have to find some patience from somewhere as I just can't see her coming early.
How's everyone else getting on? Can't wait for some birth stories soon!

OP posts:
UserFriendly14 · 27/08/2020 19:31

Ahhhh Freya is so cute- I didn’t realise how popular it was tbh. I love all those names you’ve suggested so I’m no help! Me and DH are the same where we have to correct spellings/pronunciations so we’ve always erred on the side of caution when it comes to DC names.

I may as well out myself completely and say that the name we’re stuck on is Olivia... 😬 It pains me that it’s the most popular, but we don’t know anyone else with the name and I really love it. Another is Evie, though I prefer Eve. DH wants Ava. We were considering Emilia for a while, but I don’t want it mistaken for Amelia.

Ah you’ll have to wait for her to make her own appearance! I still can’t imagine going into spontaneous labour- hopefully it’ll be nearer 3 weeks than 5!

Spark27 · 27/08/2020 20:05

I liked Emilia, but also didnt want it mixed up with Amelia. I love Evie, but dont like Evelyn, and I want a name that can be shortened. I also liked Ottilie and Ophelia, but DH just laughed, and now I think about them I'm just not sure. But we've decided on one now, so that's good.

Names are so difficult. They either remind you of someone you dont like or didnt like at school, or an annoying kid at nursery 🤣. Or have some terrible nicknames that might come with them. My dad is terrible for making stupid, jokey names out of names so I have to think that through too.

I'm grumpy this evening. I feel like my belly is full of elbows, and my back is agony. Also had a big row with DH so we're not talking 😅. DD wanted to colour so he got the big box of stuff out. I told him to get some bits out and shut it. He said it would be fine and left it open. She got everything out and made a huge mess. I was furious. I told him she'd do that. So cross. So he's sat upstairs not talking to me and doesnt want any dinner. F**king men!
