Hello! So I'm 32+4 with my second, a girl this time 😊 the whole pregnancy has gone quick as been running round after my toddler, though now I know I'm almost there it's going so slowly! So looking for some buddies to compare notes and pass the time with! Though don't know why I want it to hurry up as I know too well the pain and sleepless nights ahead 🤣 just I think uncomfortable enough now to want her out! Everywhere pretty swollen already, hips hurt and wake me up, I pee all the time even in the night, tired and get some braxton hicks. How are others doing?

So we caved today and bought a portable air con machine for downstairs and then to go in little miss' room once she's in there. Omg it's the best thing! My mood has improved ten fold 🤣 even feel like I might be able to brave a walk to the shop with my toddler as I know I can come back into air con to cool down after. How is everyone else coping?
How are the ones who had extra scans etc?
I'm getting so impatient just want her here but at the same time want it to cool down a bit first. Just hoping we all don't get bombarded with another covid spike when we're all in hospital end of Sept! X

I'm finding it unbearable, the past two days especially! Just seems that there is no escape from the heat 😓

I think another covid spike is my biggest worry at the moment. Hopefully it's just me being anxious but the thought of another proper lockdown with two little ones makes me quite nervous, though I know that is insignificant when I think about how much heartache a lot of people have had over the past months.

I definitely don't feel ready for the little one to arrive just yet. Can't quite believe the end is in sight, it's been such an odd pregnancy, feel like I haven't had much chance to take it in and to try to enjoy it with everything going on... But obviously that's silly as I've still had the last seven months or so!!

mistletoeprickles · 13/08/2020 08:36

Morning ladies.
Hope everyone managed some sleep in this god awful weather.
I'm not sure if theres something going on here that shouldn't be. My braxton hicks are now coupled with back pain Angry

Elly88 · 13/08/2020 09:04

@mistletoeprickles ooh exciting, how many weeks are you now? Are they regular? I wouldn't think anything of it until they're very painful, the amount of times I got disappointed last time thinking it was the start of something and he ended up being late! I'm almost 34 weeks, so 6 weeks to go but thinking hopefully in my head it Could be 4 weeks, tho I doubt it! Thankfully not as hot today I don't think and looks much cooler going forwards hurray!! Just very tired now, toddler going to granny's this afternoon, I still don't like not being with him but I am looking forward to the rest!

mistletoeprickles · 13/08/2020 09:36

@Elly88 only 32 so not ideal! I'm section at 38 so he needs to stay there for now!

Elly88 · 13/08/2020 10:06

@mistletoeprickles hopefully just stretching, I had that a couple weeks ago

Spark27 · 13/08/2020 10:31

So pleased that its cooler today. The last few days have been crazy. Think I managed about 7hrs sleep on and off, so I'm very pleased with that.
Cant wait til I can send my DDs to grandma's for a night. I would have done by now but my mum keeps going on holiday 🙄. Got a night booked in in about 4 weeks. Yay. I just need some time without her around, and to be able to relax (hopefully).

I've been feeling a bit rubbish the last week. Aching back and bump, lots of braxton hicks, and an upset tummy at 0100 (tmi), but I'm thinking it's just cos I've been so busy the last week. Baby is still moving around lots.

Hope today is feeling a lot cooler for everyone xx

mistletoeprickles · 14/08/2020 11:32

@Spark27 theres nothing quite like a little break. My DD has had a weekend with my mum, its was weird only having one child in the house and oddly quiet after them both being attached to me since March!

It's all still a bit crap here. The braxton hicks have some pain to them BUT theres no pattern, I can go a while without anything, not overly lengthy and baby is moving well.
They've been going since Monday so I'm feeling like a pretty crap parent as we've managed to do a whole heap of nothing, moving around seems to make them worse. DH kept trying to convince me to get his mum around yesterday but she just stresses me more by letting the children do what they want, make loads of mess then leaves me to clear it up. The last thing I wanted yesterday was company!

We've had the news here that fathers are finally allowed back on the wards (although quite restricted). I'm really pleased by this because I feel so vulnerable when pregnant and need my DH so much more.

Elly88 · 14/08/2020 12:17

@mistletoeprickles sorry to hear your braxton hicks are being a nuisance! Are you drinking plenty of water? They say move about if you're still to get rid of them or lay down if you're exercising to get rid of them. Are you drinking raspberry leaf tea? They can make braxton hicks regular and stronger so could cut back on that if so.
I didn't ever know partners weren't allowed on the wards here but that's good news!
Oh god I'm with you re MIL's, mine was suppose to wake my LO up from his nap and take him for a couple hours but she was late so then of course he didn't want to leave me and she was so insistent on taking him it was quite upsetting for us both! It's nice to have a couple hours but sometimes they just don't make it worth it so they 🙈

OP posts:
mistletoeprickles · 14/08/2020 12:32

@Elly88 mine has a habit of letting the kids down and being late too. I wouldn't of coped without her when I went back to work after DS but she can seriously drive me nuts!
Yes I'm drinking a lot which just makes me pee more Grin and no raspberry leaf tea. There worse when I move, DH keeps finding me rocking but it's the only thing that helps. I've got an awful bout of nausea today too. It's not a good day Angry

Chocolate4me · 14/08/2020 16:16

I think baths are supposed to slow down or stop braxron hicks maybe? I had a day of them, bump just felt rock hard all day, but I think drinking more and resting helped me as I haven't had them much since

Elly88 · 14/08/2020 17:09

@mistletoeprickles yes same, ours is the only one we have to help so can't get top mad annoyingly 🤣 god I feel like I'm peeing every half an hour now and I'm up so many times in the night! I'll just get comfy (ish) and ill get a big kick in the bladder making me need to go again 🙈 hope your sickness has gone, that's hideous!
I'm feeling a nice bath tonight, tho unfortunately can't use any nice bubble baths or bombs as it sets of yeast infections :( sorry tmi!

OP posts:
Chocolate4me · 14/08/2020 20:42

I nearly had a bath tonight too, but have opted to get the youngest to bed at 8 so I can go to sleep by 9!
One of those days where I'm looking forward to being able to have a glass of wine after the baby is born! Just feel a bit tired and miserable today as I slept rubbish last night

UserFriendly14 · 14/08/2020 23:01

Hello all! Smile DD due September 20th here, so just over 5 weeks to go. I already have have DS, who will be 2 in October.

You have made my night with Fanny Daggers! Grin Everytime I get one I think my waters must surely go after that!

I’m sure will be more eloquent in the morning but right now deciding whether to go to bed with a fan on or stay on the sofa where I can sleep upright and not have a night of tossing and turning...

flossiegrippiter · 14/08/2020 23:11

So glad I've found this thread! DC2 due 21st sept, I've got a section booked due to previous complications. Thank god this heatwave is coming to an end I was a horrible Eaton tonne around this week, I don't do well in the heat normally and it's triggered by feet and ankles to balloon! Has anyone tried massage to reduce swelling in their legs and feet?

UserFriendly14 · 15/08/2020 16:07

flossiegrippiter

I’ve had the swollen feet this week and what I would give for a massage! I can just picture the look on DH’s face if I were to request one!

Elly88 · 16/08/2020 04:29

I'm getting so impatient now! 34 weeks today, anyone else just wish they knew how long they had left and exactly when they'd deliver? 🤣 Still clinging to the fact it could be 4 weeks to go not 6 🙈 tho I don't plan to have anymore babies so I should be savouring my last few weeks of pregnancy...
Had a shoulder dystocia in last birth so debating the idea of discussing an induction with my midwife but I've only heard horrendous birth stories following induction! Don't want to be away from my 20 month old any longer than necessary but I am measuring on the 90th centile :/
Been lucky and now too swollen in the feet or ankles this time but last time they were very puffy.

OP posts:
mistletoeprickles · 16/08/2020 07:14

@Elly88 I had the same problem in my first pregnancy which caused horrific tearing which is why I went on to have and elcs with DS and I will be this time too. Are you having extra scans to keep an eye of growth?

Welcome to the group ladies.

@flossiegrippiter I blow up when it's hot too. The best thing I'm found is soaking my feet in cool water. Cools me down and completely calms any swelling. Its been so much cooler here for the last 36 or hours.

I'm still pretty grumpy and crap but some sleep has helped. This is the hardest pregnancy I've had by far. 5 weeks to go and I'm counting! Although many people are saying I wont make my section date, I don't know if this is a relief or what Grin

Elly88 · 16/08/2020 07:55

@mistletoeprickles no growth scans yet but I'm expecting to be sent for one when I see the midwife in a couple weeks. She's filled in my growth chart slightly wrong so she thinks I'm on 75th centile same as with ds1 but actually on 90th when I looked at it after. I really want to avoid a CS if possible. But yes my first resulted in episiotomy and tearing too, thankfully he had no damage. X

OP posts:
mistletoeprickles · 16/08/2020 15:20

@Elly88 definitely bring it up with your midwife because in my area its 28 weeks and 36 weeks. If your on the road to a bigger baby they may induce to avoid it happening again.

How are we getting on with hospital bags ladies? I'm baby packed but bugger all for me apart from pads!
I have a list though and that counts surely 🤣.

Crumbsinthecarpet · 16/08/2020 16:00

Yay to this thread! Can I join please?
Due number 2 on 18th September, attempting VBAC after failure to progress with DS. He turned 2 in July and this baby is a girl 🥰

Has anyone had like period pains ? I have the past 2 days and they are horrible but don't know if it's because she's spun round back to back or something?

strawberrycheesecake1989 · 16/08/2020 16:46

Hi,

im a FTM with baby due on the 15th! feel like time is going by so slowly! since last week baby is getting hiccups twice a day, I would occasions notice hiccups when I was not so late into the pregnancy but now I'm noticing it at least once or twice a day. Anyone else have this? is it normal? now I'm near the finish line I'm start to become more and more of an anxious wreck !! xx

Elly88 · 16/08/2020 19:37

@mistletoeprickles they've changed checked here for stm to 28, 32, 36, 38, 40. I will mention it but don't wanna say, you filled in my chart wrong as as only because she marked a few days ahead of where I was it seems silly to even bring it up as its just a guesstimate but it moved me from 75th to 90th centile so in that respect it does make a difference? Think the trouble is 8lb 3 isn't exactly a big baby and she said any size baby can get stuck :/ such a hard decision though isn't it! I'll defo bring it up and see what she says tho and what I'm measuring :) like the idea of her being here earlier and less risk of her getting stuck, but not the idea of painful induction and being in hosp for days away from 20m old.
Welcome others! I haven't had period pains but have had lower back cramps occasionally that can feel a bit periody, usually at night around time of braxton hicks.
Hiccoughs are completely normal and actually good I think for baby's digestion and breathing practise? Mine gets them few times a day that I notice :)

UserFriendly14 · 16/08/2020 20:54

Hi all! Smile

Yes hiccups are a good sign- baby is practicing swallowing/breathing and this will make up their meconium when they’re born. This one had hiccups for 12 long minutes at 3:30am the other night!

I haven’t put my hospital bag together yet, as I keep thinking I’ve got ages, but I suppose it’ll need it to be done this week. Top tip Get your birth partner to pack your hospital bag for you. With DS I laid it all out on the bed and told DH to pack it, as when you’re in labour/being seen to afterwards, it’s them that will be picking through it and good to know where everything is. (Very handy when I was in labour and shouted for a hair band!)

Spark27 · 17/08/2020 03:15

Haha, @UserFriendly14, that's an excellent tip. But I think if I waited for DH to pack it I'd still be waiting 3 months post birth 🤣. I've got some ziplock bags that I'm going to put the different baby outfits in and label them. I really need to start washing all of DD's baby clothes and working out what I want to take.

My baby is the same with a good bout of hiccups at least 2 or 3 times a day. So cute, and completely normal. The clicking bump thing started a month or so ago. Only happens occasionally, but so weird when it does.

Damn pregnancy insomnia has hit again. Always seems to happen when I then have a full day alone with DD. Chances of getting back to sleep now not helped by DH snoring 🙄
