Hello! So I'm 32+4 with my second, a girl this time 😊 the whole pregnancy has gone quick as been running round after my toddler, though now I know I'm almost there it's going so slowly! So looking for some buddies to compare notes and pass the time with! Though don't know why I want it to hurry up as I know too well the pain and sleepless nights ahead 🤣 just I think uncomfortable enough now to want her out! Everywhere pretty swollen already, hips hurt and wake me up, I pee all the time even in the night, tired and get some braxton hicks. How are others doing?

@Crumbsinthecarpet I'd definitely try and see someone or call 111. My dad got bitten by a cat a few years ago and ended up with cat scratch fever. He was fine but either needed an injection or medicine. He had a bright red vein all the way up his arm and a lump in his armpit where the infection was moving. If it looks infected I'd definitely get it sorted x

Elly88 · 06/09/2020 13:33

@crumbsinthecarpet i'd defo get it looked at by your go, not worth the risk. May just need antibiotics, don't want to end up with sepsis!
Thought I was onto the cusp of something this morning as bump was constantly tight and hard and really heavy. Some braxton hicks and anytime I stood up or walked it seemed to tighten. And then I had bit of diarhhea (sorry) but seems to have all gone now so probs just the Chinese I had last night not agreeing with me lol. Seemed too good to be true. Currently bouncing on ball sniffing clary sage. #desperate lol

Hope you get it sorted @Crumbsinthecarpet Flowers

Anyone else just feel like they’re in this horrible lull/limbo point where there’s nothing much more to do (hospital bag/clothes etc all sorted) and just waiting for baby to come now? I feel like I’m mentally prepared to go through labour and the newborn phase again and just want it all to hurry up!

Elly88 · 06/09/2020 18:08

@UserFriendly14 that's been me the past 2 months 😂😂 definitely feel different today, I'm waddling a lot more lol literally incapable of doing anything! As much as I love DS, praying she comes soon so I haven't got another full week to get through on my own lol 🙈 I do feel like things could start any time but haven't lost any plug or had a show etc so I doubt it. Anyone got any hopeful feelings or signs? X

OP posts:
Crumbsinthecarpet · 06/09/2020 18:26

@Spark27 haven't managed to get seen today but have a midwife appointment tomorrow and will go to the gp afterwards! Definitely don't want to end up with cat scratch fever!

@elly88 I feel your pain!! And yes I've had on and off contractions which feel like period pain in my back and bump, but I will have an hour of them and then they will stop for an hour/a day and then start again :( other than that just the bowling ball in the pelvis Feeling, no plug or anything, keep thinking my waters are leaking but actually I think it's just loads of discharge (tmi sorry) because I have thrush

@userfriendly14 yes 100%, I'm trying to see it as a good thing that I've not gone into labour yet as it gives me a bit more time to get stuff done 🙄 but yes totally want to just get her out!

Elly88 · 06/09/2020 18:46

@crumbsinthecarpet hope you manage to get your hand seen to tomorrow and your midwife appt goes well, is that your 38 week appt? You certainly sound like you're having more in the way of contractions! I haven't really had much but just feel so stretched and so literally about to pop, I don't remember feeling this bad with ds! So desperately want her outtttttt!!

OP posts:
Crumbsinthecarpet · 06/09/2020 20:30

@Elly88 thank you! Yeah 38 week appointment, I'll be 38+ 3 tomorrow, yeah I'm having more for definite! I know what you mean about the stretched feeling, I felt terrible with DS but yeah never felt like he was ready to fall out like this!

mistletoeprickles · 07/09/2020 06:45

Morning all

Sorry I've been quiet over the weekend, I came on and read to see if I was missing any births but have just enjoyed a quiet weekend with DH and the children. Nothing to report really 😡 I'm frustrated but now also hoping I make my section date out of practicality....2 weeks to go!
The school run will be interesting this morning as they'll be a lot of people who dont know im pregnant as we they aren't really friends more acquaintances and we havent put anything on social media either.
I also have a growth scan at the end of the week which will be interesting as I am definitely all baby and every medical professional likes to tell me that!

@Elly88 i hope you enjoyed your chinese. It's my favourite, currently eating one once a week ☺️. The tightening when you moved would of got me excited too. They say that if its Braxton hicks then moving will stop them although I'm yet to find that works and I've had weeks of them!

@UserFriendly14 I have not a lot to do either. We put up the next to me at the weekend and other than that we're sorted. DD is back to school this week and DS starts next week. So in plan to enjoy sometime with DS this week and next week just enjoy for time for me, I have a pre baby haircut booked in and will do an easy dinner food shop as DH will be doing it for at least a week.

@crumbsinthecarpet I had the poo feeling all day friday, I said to DH it feels like I'm going to poo or hes going to fall out but have been ok since, I wondered if maybe he'd engaged but had then popped out again? Some days I have a serious waddle.

@spark27 happy full term Grin

Someone mentioned colostrum harvesting, I read a thread on it the other day and apparently it takes a long time. For many reasons I dont breast feed but it was very interesting to read especially as I began leaking so early.

Elly88 · 07/09/2020 16:22

@crumbsinthecarpet how was your midwife appt?
@mistletoeprickles yes Chinese was nice thanks, used to be my fave but definitely overtaken by pizza now!
Also feeling like she may just drop out - if only lol. Been for a short walk and every step feels like a weight being thrown on top of my bladder etc. But I'm still breathless so can't tell if it's cos she may have moved lower engaged or not. Currently having slightly painful braxton hicks and random stabbing pains in my boobs?! But nothing trackable time or length wise. A good long walk would probably help move things in the right direction I reckon but my legs and back just can't take it!
How's everyone else feeling today?
On another note, I'm thinking about sending DS back to nursery one afternoon a week as think he'll enjoy the time and activities in the long run whilst I'm incapable of doing much heavily pregnant/looking after a newborn. But he's under 3 so expensive, and I worry about him picking up bugs and bringing them home, he was constantly ill when he used to go to nursery :/

OP posts:
Spark27 · 07/09/2020 17:11

@Elly88, my DD goes to nursery 2 days a week while I'm supposed to be at work (now WFH). I couldn't wait to send her back when it opened. For my sanity and her enjoyment. She loves it, and the interaction, and it definitely helps with her development. She did pick up a cold within the first 2 weeks of being back, but she got over it pretty quickly. I did get us all Covid test just in case (more in case nursery kicked her out for 2 weeks), but all was fine. I dont know how I'll cope with her and a newborn fulltime if the nurseries were to close again. I am counting down to Jan when we get free nursery though 💸

Crumbsinthecarpet · 07/09/2020 20:37

@mistletoeprickles the poo feeling is terrible!!
@Elly88 really good thank you, she gave me lots of advice on getting baby out and they are trying to get me booked in for a sweep on Friday (39 weeks on the dot) to help me avoid induction, she is a star ⭐ though it will need to be done at the hospital most likely. Also found out re my cat bite, the whooping cough vaccination contains a tetanus shot! So she said as long as the bite doesn't get hot and very sore, that all will be fine :)

@Spark27 DS also going to nursery and i can't wait, he needs more stimulation than I can give him at the moment!! He's back on Friday, they got closed after a positive covid test from one of the staff, just the one though thank god

Elly88 · 07/09/2020 21:00

@crumbsinthecarpet jealous of your early sweep! What was the advice she gave you to get baby out?? Do share 😃
Manged to book some reflexology for Thursday afternoon, though I did have to lie and say I was past my due date 😬
Had some more slightly painful BH after my bath tonight but all seems to have died down now.
@spark27 hmm ill have to have a think re nursery, pros and cons! Might see how I find it sith both of them first then put his name down if I need to.

UserFriendly14 · 08/09/2020 08:27

Morning all! Again, not much to report here, other than what felt like period pain waking me up this morning. I do feel that I’ll go over again so not getting any hopes up. I’ve got my 38 week app tomorrow.

@mistletoeprickles hope the school run went well!

DS has still been going to MIL for 2 afternoons a week, rather than the full days if I were working. It’s bliss at the moment as it’s completely needed for my sanity and I know he loves doing something different. He seems to be gearing up for the terrible twos and any peace I can get at the moment is welcomed!

Crumbsinthecarpet · 08/09/2020 08:38

@Elly88 I think because of the stats on vbac deliveries being induced they are happy with it but my consultant hadn't put it in the notes yet so she's going to have to chase it up! Still not guaranteed to happen haha 🤣 advice she gave wasn't ground breaking just the 6 dates a day and also she said if you can manage, try and have sex every day, and make sure he finishes inside and then lie on your back with a pillow under your bum for half an hour or as long as you can manage! You'll love the reflexology, Obviously mine didn't actually start up labour but man it felt amazing hahaha it was worth it for the better sleep afterwards! So disappointing when they go isn't it, I thought something was really starting last night as I was having very tight, pretty painful tightenings with lots of period pain, and I was having maybe 4/5 an hour, I put my tens on and everything which actually helped with the painful need a poo feeling as well, but after my bath everything just died off :/
I'm trying to see it as a good thing, it means I get to go and pick my new sofa and vinyl today haha 😂 I wish DH has listened to me about not wanting work done this close to my due date 🙄 new front door going in on Saturday 🙈 at least he isn't insisting on doing it all himself now, the kitchen is going to be plastered by our builder now and will have a painter and decorator in in a few weeks once baby is born to finish off the downstairs, which means DH will be available to help me instead of faffing about and also it will get done much quicker 😂

Elly88 · 08/09/2020 11:06

@UserFriendly14 I've bravely only asked MIL for one afternoon this weekend, probably regret that one!
@crumbsinthecarpet fingers crossed for you that you get your sweep and it works! I'm kicking myself I didn't ask more for early sweeps when I spoke to my consultant but as scan said she was on 10th centile I doubt they would anyway, not that I believe she's that small! That sounds so disappointing that you got as far as putting tens machine on and then it all died off, so frustrating, I hate waiting on tender hooks! I have heard though that baths can subside early labour, maybe try and keep active until pains are regular and strong, then have a bath? Though il be worrying about when to go into hospital, don't want to leave DS longer than necessary but doubt I'll be much use having contractions anyway, and won't want to be labouring in front of MIL!
Decided against the reflexology as quite expensive and not convinced it'll induce Labour, plus I'm super ticklish and so uncomfortable not sure I'd sit still for an hour lol. Just my 38 week midwife appt on Friday to wait for now.

OP posts:
Crumbsinthecarpet · 09/09/2020 08:38

@Elly88 thank you me too! Same again last night, enough back pain to put tens on and all just died off again 🙄 will have to go for a decent walk today to try and kick it off properly! Someone asked me when I'm due yesterday and got to use the phrase "next week" which freaked me out! 😂

mistletoeprickles · 09/09/2020 10:11

A few developments here. They carry a TMI warning though. Pains on and off, cant really time them but they are very painful. Stopping me in my tracks and horrendous diarrhoea 😭. Hes definitely dropped overnight because I can suddenly breath again. We'll see if anything comes of it. I've panicked washed all my comfy pants and pajamas just in case!

@Crumbsinthecarpet did it feel good saying next week?

I was one of many pregnant ladies at the school gates yesterday, all who weren't obviously pregnant before lockdown. DD finds it amusing and regularly ages who so many people have come out of lockdown pregnant 🤣

UserFriendly14 · 09/09/2020 12:38

Just got back from my 38 week app and baby has gone from being consistently 50% to rocketing to 90% in the last 2 weeks, so I’ve now got to go for a growth scan. The same happened with DS and all was fine. I’m sure they just put it down to different MWs measuring differently. Secretly hoping they just induce me if she’s so big! I did think this morning that she’s suddenly a lot bigger than before. And also TMI... diarrhoea here too but I couldn’t tell if I was nervous this morning and now even more.

MW made my appointments for 40 and 41 weeks but I realised that as I’m due next Sunday, my 41 would be 41+3, which I’m sure they’d induce me by- or at least have it booked in. Hopefully only one more appt in that case as I’m sick of peeing in a pot!

So happy to hear everyone’s developments- even the TMI ones! 😂

Elly88 · 09/09/2020 13:09

@crumbsinthecarpet so so frustrating for you I can't imagine!! Sounds like you're so close and how exciting that your due date is next week!! Praying it happens properly soon for you.
@mistletoeprickles oh I love it when I see a tmi 😅 absolutely sounds like early labour from my experience! Do you have a ball you can get on? Try not to lie down, keep up and active much as possible to speed things up! So exciting! Oh and yes annoyingly most people will think we got bored during lock down, hence baby number 2, but most people can't do maths and so won't realise I actually got pregnant at the start of January way before lock down and it was totally planned!
@UserFriendly14 I also have a different midwife this time (appt on Friday) so be interesting to see what she measures me as. Though following measuring on 90th then scan putting me at 10th I'm not sure if I'd get sent for another growth scan or not if she stills measures me at 90th 🤔
Good luck with your scan, I'm sure all will be fine. Could be increase in waters etc? Though induction sounds very tempting doesn't it!
Remind me of everyone's due dates? I'm not till 27th which is 2.5 weeks away and seems like forever 😩
Losing the will to live with expressing/bouncing/drinking tea/sniffing oil/eating dates etc. Feel like giving up as not convinced it makes any bloody difference

OP posts:
Crumbsinthecarpet · 09/09/2020 14:23

@mistletoeprickles fingers crossed for you!! Felt amazing but unreal!

@Elly88 yes incredibly so, I either want to not be in pain or be in labour 😂 18th for us! Me too, saying that while sat on ball drinking tea and expressing as DS sleeps hahaha

mistletoeprickles · 09/09/2020 15:19

@UserFriendly14 different midwives really dont help nerves as they all measure differently. Let us know how you get on.

@Elly88 I cant keep moving, I'm exhausted from lack of sleep. I have walked to school and back which had made things worse. I'm having a little rest before I begin dinner then I'm going to have an aggressive hoover 😂. I dont mind if its actually doing something because I'll just get my section early but if it's not its just pointless and very tiring.

My due date is the 5th of october but I'm section week commencing 21st of September if I get there!
One of the other mums at school just asked me when I'm due and I said 14 days (didn't go into the whole c section GD etc) and I suddenly thought shit, 14 days!

UserFriendly14 · 09/09/2020 17:51

I haven’t heard anything from hospital this afternoon, so I assume it’ll be a first thing in the morning call and probable scan (well it was for DS anyway Smile) Thankfully DH is WFH tomorrow so can parent while I go do that.

@Elly88 the MW did say that it wasn’t water, so it does sound like it should be all baby. I’m just getting my hopes up of an induction! My due date is also “next week”! September 20th. I’ve also been waiting for someone to comment lockdown baby to me, not realising that I’d have conceived mid December! (Ahhh a simpler time!)

@mistletoeprickles yup I did the “shit it’s less than 2 weeks now, does that mean I can say days now?!” Although next week sounds just as scary!

In the midst of all the scan talk at the appt, I completely forgot to ask what’s the latest on DH being allowed around for birth/after at my local hospital. I’ve been sticking my head in the sand regarding it as I hate the idea that he won’t be there with me the whole time. In better, albeit incredibly selfishly happy news, it looks like PIL won’t be away at all in the foreseeable future so they’ll be around to have DS when I’m in. It’s one less thing for me to worry about as I know he loves being with them.

Crumbsinthecarpet · 09/09/2020 18:34

@mistletoeprickles how are you doing now?

Just had about 2 hours of mild contractions, 3 in 10 mins about 45 seconds each, and all died off now 🙄 though this was how labour started with DS! So hopefully stuff Ramps up again later 🤞

mistletoeprickles · 09/09/2020 21:16

I'm still going, some more painful than others 😡. I've got into bed in hope of some sleep because I am exhausted. Dinner made me feel very sick so I didn't have much. Just generally meh now

Elly88 · 09/09/2020 21:37

@UserFriendly14 ah I can't say next week yet, still have 2.5 weeks (18 days if counting 🤣) good luck with scan tomoro, hope you get your induction!
@mistletoeprickles and @crumbsinthecarpet sounds promising for you both! I hope things progress over night for you. I cooked for PIL this evening and must have overdone it as definitely felt weird after, bump was so hard and uncomfortable and felt like things could happen, even had a couple of slightly painful braxton hicks but all died off now following a bath and massage from DH!
How I'd so love to be early... But guessing I'm in for the long haul 😒 I definitely didn't feel This uncomfortable with DS!
