So getting off to sleep is ok, staying asleep a whole different ball game! Maybe it's natures way of prepping us for whats to come?!
Also keep waking up with a banging headache, fairly sure its probably dehydration but daren't drink any more before bed, I have to get up enough as it is 🤣

Safxxx · 09/11/2020 08:56

@IamC getting comfortable at bedtime at these stages (forget it lol) as were all heading to the 3rd timester things will only get worse.... I'm a right side sleeper, I use a thin duvet on top of my mattress for added comfort and use 1 pillow and 1 V pillow to prop up a little. It all helps but yes I still can get uncomfortable....one of those things 🙄
Another thing that's so annoying is the very weak bladder... Oh my days...

Snorlax86 · 09/11/2020 11:47

Completely agree with you all, weak bladder, unable to sleep through the night and uncomfortable. I also wish I could sleep on my back. Other than the sleep issues I hope you’re all doing well xx

BatmanBaby · 09/11/2020 12:23

I miss sleeping on my front so much! I think that's what I'm looking forward to most once baby is here! Also up so much in the night, I agree, it must be natures way of preparing us for being up at night!

Anyone else getting really impatient lol only 14 weeks to go, and it can't come quick enough lol

elfran · 09/11/2020 12:31

Ugh, me too! I can fall asleep fine but I'm up most nights by 3am and just can't switch off again. The body pillow helps but I just can't get on with side sleeping. I cannot wait to sleep on my back again post-baby (even if it's only for 45 minute stints). Grin

Lucybbb · 09/11/2020 12:36

I'm actually not uncomfortable in bed (yet!) so feeling quite lucky! I miss being able to turn over via my front though. My biggest annoyance is that I'm really easy to wake at the moment and if I wake at night I can't get back to sleep for hours!

I think I read the other day there's been a new piece of research published about sleeping on your back, showing that it didn't increase the risk of stillbirth for women who slept on their back in the second trimester. If you're a big back sleeper, might be worth looking up?

Muriel84 · 09/11/2020 14:26

I’ve moaned on here so much already about my sleep I feel I’ve maxed out! But yeah it’s shit! I have a bbhugme, two normal pillows, and sleep on a folded duvet which has massively helped my hip pain but it still comes on in the early hours. Also tossing and turning with a body length pillow isn’t exactly conducive to a good nights rest. I do “treat myself” to a little bit of back time when it becomes unbearable but my bump isn’t that big and lots of people have told me I’ll know when it’s uncomfortable and bad to be on my back. I try and tilt myself sometimes. Can’t wait to front and back sleep again. X x x

babydust2412 · 09/11/2020 14:44

Oh gosh bedtime is the worst time and best (because I'm exhausted) 😂 but can never get properly comfy, and end up getting up so many times in the night for a wee 😂 we are getting practice for the lack of sleep once baby arrives 💙😂

Stef92 · 09/11/2020 17:38

Apparently I've started snoring horrendously so not only am I having a poor night sleep so is my husband 🤣 guess this is just preparing us for when baby starts crying during the night !!

IamC · 09/11/2020 21:55

Well at least we're all in it together 😂 Absolutely tired out right now, hope that translates to better sleep tonight...

Muriel84 · 10/11/2020 07:25

Two terrible nights sleep in a row because achy hips are back with a vengeance. So miserable bed being so uncomfortable. Advice online is so rubbish. Sleep with a pillow between your legs. As if that does anything! 😭

IamC · 10/11/2020 07:53

It defo makes no difference does it?

One thing I think makes it worse for me is sitting in the sofa in the evening. Ours is so uncomfortable, I end up with back ache before I even get to bed.

I've contemplated getting a new one, but I'm pretty sure the baby will arrive before a sofa would.

pampero · 10/11/2020 08:00

I have taken to using extra cushions on the sofa to find that comfy position!

pampero · 10/11/2020 08:01

Oh and &Iamc based on a friends recent order for a new sofa youre probably right about baby arriving first!

Safxxx · 10/11/2020 08:16

I always sit on the sofa with a pillow behind my back.... at the moment my back is not too bad, my pelvic area hurts more.

Muriel84 · 10/11/2020 08:22

I sit with my v pillow on the sofa and it seems ok. It’s just the pain of my hips pressing into the bed. Sleeping on a duvet helped for a while but the last two nights have been awful. Late for work cos I couldn’t stop crying! Bodes well for the next few years x x x

OnNaturesCourse · 10/11/2020 10:31

Has anyone tried a weighted blanket? I've got one and found it really helps me sink into a comfy position and not toss and turn so much. My hips are a little achy in the AM but so far haven't woke me from my sleep. I was really bad with my hips in my first pregnancy, and at the start of this one, but fingers crossed they seem to now be behaving.

Safxxx · 10/11/2020 11:21

)@Muriel84 Awe hope you feel better soon.....i use a folded single duvet over my side of the mattress, I find if I give it a good old shake and plump it up it's much more comfortable. Try doing that to yours maybe it's just flattened up abit and not comfy.Xxx

@OnNaturesCourse....i sleep in my duvet and always get hot, during the night I'm forever pushing it back and fourth...i will suffocate in a weightened blanket for sure 🤣🤣

babydust2412 · 10/11/2020 12:38

@Safxxx me too, I'm always shoving my duvet on and off all night 😂
Have just fainted after a blood test, my midwife was wonderful bless her but trust me 😂😬 x

OP posts:
Safxxx · 10/11/2020 13:09

@babydust2412 Awe you Ok? Why did you faint? Was it your blood pressure or low sugar levels? Drink plenty of water stay hydrated Xxx

Muriel84 · 10/11/2020 13:55

@Safxxx thank you that’s not a bad idea! I was going to try a sleeping bag instead cos I thought it might be a bit softer. Will give everything a shake up.

@babydust2412 sorry to hear you fainted! Hope you’re feeling ok now and have had something sweet and yum to eat! X x x

OnNaturesCourse · 10/11/2020 15:20

Weighted blankets actually don't add heat, I've not felt overheated. Definitely worth a try.

babydust2412 · 10/11/2020 17:19

@Safxxx I didn't know I was having a blood test today so I woke up late and forgot to eat anything, also my clinic was very warm today, so a mixture of the heat and not eating must have caused it xx
@Muriel84 I'm fine now just needed to eat, silly me 😂 I had sweets as soon as I got in the car and treated myself to a McDonald's breakfast 😂 xx

Anyone else's baby like to be wide awake at about 3 in the morning?! Grin

BattenburgBerry · 11/11/2020 11:45

@BatmanBaby yes! For the first time last night, it kept me awake knocking about in there. I think I woke it up by getting up for the loo. Only been feeling increased movements for the last week or so but they are getting much stronger now. I’m 25 weeks.
