Barely anything has changed for us since the first lockdown. Work-wise, we were preparing to go back to the office when Boris told us to work from home if we can again. So still very much isolated at home....which has plus and negative points IMO.

Stef92 · 25/10/2020 11:39

@IamC they asked me back to the office in august so I had to tell them I was pregnant a week or so before 12 weeks. When Boris made the announcement about going back working from home they said only I would be working from home due to pregnancy. It seems crazy when the office is situated in the city centre, with universities so close and there's a student letting office downstairs 🤷🏼‍♀️

babydust2412 · 25/10/2020 12:11

I'm also struggling with sleep occasionally and getting tired so early, I feel like I've run a marathon from tidying around 😂 @Muriel84 that's a good idea! I definitely want to start swimming soon to try and help the pain 💙

Luckily my area is tier 1 we're still medium risk as of right now so I'm really hoping that doesn't change because the extra anxiety all of this is causing around labour and birth is not nice for any of us xx

@IamC how are you and baby doing now? ❤️

@babydust2412 all seems fine right now. I find I can 'overdo it' easier than before, so it means I have a hall pass for the heavier work at home 😂

Char41zam · 28/10/2020 03:36

Up tonight with the worst heartburn I have ever had with any pregnancy! Honestly never had it so bad Confused

Safxxx · 28/10/2020 06:31

@Char41zam I had heartburn on/off for the first 3 mths... since then only light isolated cases. But I'm sure towards the end trimester might get it again.
Go easy on the spices and other trigger foods. Get yourself some gaviscon....and Apples are good too for relief...Xxx

Stef92 · 28/10/2020 07:19

@Char41zam I'm finding warm milk also helps

Char41zam · 28/10/2020 10:35

Thanks @Safxxx and @Stef92, I had fajitas last night for tea so must have been that! Felt like I was breathing fire, will have to lay off the spices x

babydust2412 · 28/10/2020 15:48

@Char41zam gosh that can't have been nice xx
My little boy had me up at 5am with hiccups and big kicks 😂

Char41zam · 28/10/2020 17:45

@babydust2412 yea my wee one was awake and kicking too! I feel like sleep will be a thing of the past for a long long time lol

Muriel84 · 29/10/2020 20:08

I had the worse heartburn of my life last week while I was giving a presentation. It was horrible! So disgusting and painful! And Tesco-own gaviscon is absolutely rank 🤢 xxx

BattenburgBerry · 30/10/2020 13:04

Has anyone bought much yet? I’ve got literally nothing yet. We’ve had the baby’s room freshly painted and I got new curtains. We’ve been given a few bits and pieces from family hand me downs like blankets and a carrier, and I’ve been researching prams. Just can’t decide if it’s too early to buy everything or if I’ll have a panic in a few weeks because I’ve bought nothing, help!

Char41zam · 30/10/2020 13:51

@BattenburgBerry I have everything, never been so well prepared but my partner was over excited and bought stuff every time we were out and then his mum has bought us the pram and crib, I just need to get sorted with a hospital bag nearer the time x

Muriel84 · 30/10/2020 14:13

@BattenburgBerry I have a lot of clothes through presents mainly. Family are lending us Moses basket and some bits. I’ve chosen a buggy but not ordered it yet. Our main issue is where on earth we’ll be living as it looks like the flat we were trying to buy is going to fall through. I would absolutely love to be able to plan a nursery! Xxx

Safxxx · 30/10/2020 15:13

@ BattenburgBerry ..i've bought nothing yet... I keep browsing the net and shops but I'm holding off till another month or 2 before I purchase.
Definetely by December I'll be buying everything as my other kid was born a month early...so need to be prepared before January.
@Muriel84 hope you get your flat in time and settle b4 the baby arrives 🤞
@Char41zam wow your well prepared 👍🏼

babydust2412 · 30/10/2020 15:50

I'm fully prepared for my little boy now, got over excited with buying and decorating 😂💙

wannabe123 · 30/10/2020 16:05

We've bought the travel system and decorated the nursery. We've also been given lots of clothes and a Moses basket. At a weird point now of not quite knowing what else to buy but knowing we're not ready for baby yet!

BattenburgBerry · 30/10/2020 16:35

Glad I’m not the only one with hardly anything, some of you are crazy well prepared already!!
Maybe I’ll make a start this weekend with a few bits and pieces to get it started. I’m just so confused with ALL THE STUFF...not really sure what is essential and what’s just plain unnecessary!

wannabe123 · 30/10/2020 17:08

@BattenburgBerry I agree with you there about knowing what is actually needed! I also don't want to buy things that other people may want to buy us as presents.

Stef92 · 30/10/2020 18:48

@BattenburgBerry we've bought the Moses basket but haven't started on his room yet as I'm set up to work from home in that room at the mo, we are getting the garage converted 2 weeks before baby is due to move my office in there so we aren't even getting the cot until after he's born

Muriel84 · 30/10/2020 22:31

@Safxxx a month early! 😱 I’ve given up hope of having moved by January. Buying our first flat and having our first baby in the middle of a pandemic isn’t the best timing!

I feel totally clueless about what to get. I don’t want to get too much as we may have to move with newborn, we won’t have much space either way and I’m not a big fan of clutter! We don’t have a car and will mainly be using public transport so need a very light pram. Not sure where a car seat fits in to all this... x x x

Vee1502 · 30/10/2020 22:50

Hi everyone! Wow, so many of you are fully prepared, seems exciting but holding myself out to see if any good discounts show up in Dec sales. Can't wait!

Have got the travel system so far as got 30% off on the one we wanted 😀 in case anyone is interested there are a couple baby shows on at the moment and a lot of retailers/ brands are doing decent discounts. Got our travel system through one of those discounts.

Safxxx · 30/10/2020 23:22

@Muriel84 yeah I believe once you hit 8mths definetely be prepared for anything, luckily I had a instinct and had my hospital bag ready before hand, that time we mainly had everything we needed as I had kept my other kids essential stuff....so only needed some clothes, nappies and bottles....My waters broke a whole month early and I had my son within the 24hrs (Labour was 5hrs) but for most of you it will be longer as it's your 1st child...my first labour was around 18hrs 2nd was between 6-7hrs.
You don't need a car seat...but get a lightweight pushchair...and either get moses basket or get a travel cot...i bought a travel cot for my previous kids and kept that downstairs it had a changing station and a bassinet which later can be removed as needed...upstairs in bedroom I had a cot bed...well all my 3 kids made use of the things we bought...couple of yrs ago chucked everything away, so need to buy all the essentials now. My sister will be handing down a travel cot and a pushchair and carseat to us....so that's good, 3 main things sorted 🤞
I found ppl would mostly gift clothes to us so this time I'm only buying a few essential clothing...and see how it goes....Xx

Snorlax86 · 31/10/2020 00:18

I’m glad I’m not the only one that hasn’t started yet. I’m planning to do it all in December. I have a list of what I want to get and have narrowed down the big items so it’s just a case of ordering them. At the moment it still feels too early to have everything, with all the restrictions time is going even slower!
