Just got my BFP after six bloody long months of trying. Thrilled but a bit weirded out! Anyone in the same boat?

Thanks @Positivity2019 I only had the nhs ones so don’t know about the private ones. Good that you don’t have to do those solo.

I’m 6 weeks today and wondering if I need to get my arse in gear and call the gp Blush

@Lovelife92 what a mess with your letters. So you need blood separate to the MW appointments?

OP posts:
Lovelife92 · 29/05/2020 13:51

@onekidnoclue yes I'm assuming so. First letter says blood clinic, second has the maternity hospital part crossed out and has an attached slip of paper to say it will just be a phone call. And my bloods one is on a Saturday which I thought was a little wierd!

Yes no would be a good time to phone the docs, I was 6 weeks last Friday and that's when I had to do the self referral form x

Onekidnoclue · 29/05/2020 13:55

Thanks @Lovelife92
Just called the gp. Receptionist told me to email the hospital and call back if it haven’t heard in a week! Hmm

10th January for me. First baby.
Doesn’t feel real and really struggling at the moment with emotions. Husband’s buzzing but I’m anxious and scared about the changes that are happening. I know I wanted a baby but now that Its here, I’m struggling to feel excited. Anyone else struggling With this?

Dia12 · 29/05/2020 14:07

I've just got a similar set of appointments to you @Lovelife92 - also hoping my partner will be allowed in for the 12w scan. How sad if he can't join. And how sad midwife appointment is over the phone 😕 I'm hoping there will be opportunity to meet and get to build up some kind of rapport with my midwife.

Have decided we will def have an early scan, just can't seem to agree on a date. I'm 7w but DH wants to wait till 8w 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm getting very impatient.
I even tested using an LH stick left over - why?!!!!

Lovelife92 · 29/05/2020 14:09

@onekidnoclue I think it's so crazy how different parts of the country do things so differently! Why can't they all just be the same 😂

@aliceGM I'm sorry that you are struggling to get excited. Did you find out long ago? When I first found out I had a massive mix of emotions even though we were trying for a baby. Now I've known for a few weeks and I think it's all sunk in a little and I've given up about worrying if anything goes wrong because there's nothing I can do that will change it x

AliceGM · 29/05/2020 14:14

@Lovelife92 found out around week 3 / 4. It doesn’t seem real for me and I feel it’s not fair on my husbands who’s super excited. I guess the Midwife first phone appointment next week and the first scan will help :)

Lovelife92 · 29/05/2020 14:29

@aliceGM fingers crossed that you'll then be able to get a little excited. Keep us updated, I only joined here yesterday but its so nice to be able to discuss it with people going through the same thing!

@Dia12 I didn't even think about the phone convo meant not actually meeting the midwife, it is a bit sad isn't it 😔 x

Onekidnoclue · 29/05/2020 15:11

@AliceGM congratulations! I know what you mean. It’s the worst bit. Knowing but doesn’t seem real. Can’t tell anyone or do anything. It does get better. When you feel them start to wriggle it’s the best thing.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble about the midwife but when I had my DS I don’t think I saw the same person twice. There wasn’t any continuity at all and then the midwives who delivered him were different again! It’s not ideal and might not be the case where you are but it wasn’t what I had expected. X

Just got a bounce back on the email. Called and was told to go to the website and submit a form! Not the end of the world but a bit annoying. Hopefully I’m nearly sorted though. Thanks for giving me a nudge @Lovelife92

Lovelife92 · 29/05/2020 16:42

@onekidnoclue I don't really know much about pregnancy appointments and that, only what I've researched so far. At least I know what to expect with midwives now, I may be lucky and get the same one, I may not!
How annoying that the email bounced back, glad it's all sorted for you now though! How old is your DS? X

Lovelife92 · 29/05/2020 16:46

@onekidnoclue sorry, just seen that your DS is 3 😊 x

Positivity2019 · 29/05/2020 17:13

@Lovelife92 that’s a lot of info to get all at once but you must be buzzing to have your 12 week scan date!! I agree, I really hope by the time we are due for that first NHS scan partners can come to appointments.

@Onekidnoclue I’ve zero clue about private scans and I’ve been doing lots of research and reading of reviews. It’s very mixed as to the service you get but I only want to see a heartbeat and feel reassured that yea there is a wee living bean in there growing away.

I live in the north east of Scotland and from what I can gather my appointment on the 8th is within my GP surgery and it’s a face too face appointment. I’m hoping I will have the same midwife throughout as it’s a smaller practice. We shall see.

Em39ma · 29/05/2020 17:30

Just seen you guys talking the other Day about being old. I’m 41 I’m considered very old.
Had a scare last week I started to bleed had a scan and could only see a sac, so we thought it was all over. Went back for a second scan this Tuesday and sac had grown and has a heartbeat.
My HG has kicked in too, so started medication already.

duvethogger · 29/05/2020 17:35

17th of Jan here I think!! Can't believe it!!

Lovelife92 · 29/05/2020 17:36

@duvethogger congratulations!! 😊

Dia12 · 29/05/2020 17:47

Congratulations @duvethogger and @Em39ma and welcome to the thread!

Pleased to hear you've heard a HB for the little blob @Em39ma - it must be reassuring for you. I'm of the older category too and it brings with it a whole new level of stress. But you're off to a great start, fingers crossed for you x

WindsorBlues · 29/05/2020 18:20

I've a private scan tomorrow ill be 9 weeks and it costs £70. My 12 week scan with the NHS is on 19th June, our NHS Trust does not allow partners in. The reason we booked the private scan is after a very long battle with infertility and my DH being with me every step of the way I think it's only right that we hear the heartbeat together for the first time.

AliceGM · 29/05/2020 18:35

@windsorBlues how did you book a private scan?

SkylinesTurnstiles · 29/05/2020 19:03

How old are we all and where are we from out of curiosity? 😁
I’m 27 and from South of England

Hit 7 weeks today, still doesn’t really feel real!

SkylinesTurnstiles · 29/05/2020 19:05

@AliceGM
I’ve booked a private scan for next week with a company called Window to Womb.
I just Googled ‘private pregnancy scan’ and it seemed that that was the company which was closest to where I’m based. Sure there is plenty others about x

SkylinesTurnstiles · 29/05/2020 19:06

@WindsorBlues not long until your scan! Bet you’re excited?! X

footprintsintheslow · 29/05/2020 19:21

@SkylinesTurnstiles I'm 40 and from South East Wales. My eldest is 20 and I have a 2 year old too!

MissHoney85 · 29/05/2020 19:27

I've just hit 7 weeks too and have a private scan tomorrow at Window to the Womb. I'm super nervous. I haven't had any major symptoms - no sickness or particular tiredness. No bad symptoms either, but it doesn't seem real and I can't help thinking we're going to get bad news. Even my OH is nervous and he's normally very optimistic about these things, at least outwardly. The scan isn't until 4.45 tomorrow so it's going to be a long wait. We're going to view a house we like in the morning, so could end the day with potentially a new house and a baby - or neither! 😬

Lovelife92 · 29/05/2020 19:32

@SkylinesTurnstiles I'm 27 too (28 on Sunday) and from the South of England 😂 I also hit 7 weeks today!! X
