Just got my BFP after six bloody long months of trying. Thrilled but a bit weirded out! Anyone in the same boat?

No food cravings and no sickness .... yet. Just suffering with cramps, really bloated (I look huge) and gassy x

MissHoney85 · 06/06/2020 20:28

Just found out that a couple of our best friends are also pregnant, about a month ahead of us - just had their 12 week scan. I feel really nervous now - partly I think a kneejerk feeling from so long battling infertility and feeling jealous at friends' pregnancies.. Also the added pressure of needing this pregnancy to turn out ok as it will be so great to have our babies so close together. And devastating to see theirs grow up when ours should have, if it doesn't work out. Argh, don't know why I can't just feel happy for them and positive about my own pregnancy.

footprintsintheslow · 07/06/2020 06:49

@MissHoney85 I think those feelings are totally understandable. When you have a difficult journey to a pregnancy you're emotions are going to be very mixed. My best friend has a daughter exactly the same age as the daughter I lost. I'll have to see her go through school and there will be no escape. But I think time heals those thoughts.

Got now you are pregnant and that's wonderful.

MissHoney85 · 07/06/2020 07:19

Thanks @footprintsintheslow. We told quite a lot of people yesterday - parents, siblings, close friends - which was earlier than I'd wanted, but I'm a teacher and people will want to know why I'm not going back to school next week. It was lovely telling them but I do feel the pressure now of needing not to 'let everyone down'. On top of that was the friend's pregnancy announcement. Just wish I could fast forward to the scan! OH is softening towards a 10 week scan so hopefully not much longer.

footprintsintheslow · 07/06/2020 07:33

@MissHoney85 I'm repeating myself on here but I've literally told all my friends straight away. If I need support I will need them to know. Plus now I message them everyday moaning how sick I am.
Also I'm teacher..reception/year 1 but I'm still off with my toddler. My LA offers up to 5 year career break where they keep your job open for you. We are poor but happy at home.
What do you teach?

MissHoney85 · 07/06/2020 07:46

@footprintsintheslow I'm a Reception teacher too! My class is going back next week. I feel really sad not to be there - though obviously happy with the reason why! That's good of your LA. Not sure yet what I'll do. I guess I'll see how much I like staying home with a baby then decide!

Been a little while since my last post here. Well done to all the new mums who joined in the group :)
Had my first midwife phone call last week was lovely to speak to her. I also book a private early scan for next week as the midwife confirmed that at the moment my husband would not be able to come in the hospital with me for my first nhs scan.
Managing nausea relatively well now, I’m 9 weeks today. Eating fruits helps I find.
Feeling still very anxious as it’s my first pregnancy. I had this fear yesterday that I felt I didn’t particularly like baby’s and I find them scary. Never held one before, always been a bit scared. Now I’m scared it’s going to be the same with my baby.... anyway... I hope it’ll pass!
I hope you ladies have had a good weekend :)

Dia12 · 07/06/2020 09:58

There are a lot of mixed emotions isn't there, I feel the same @AliceGM but also feel confident that it will pass once there is a little one in front of me. I keep having these crazy thoughts that I'll just drop the baby on the floor and hurt it 😑 - I am very clumsy, but my fear is just ridiculous.

Is the call from the midwife just a general intro/chat?

My nausea kicks in around afternoon and stays all day - not very strong nausea, just enough to make me feel a bit off. And I feel like I'm eating too much, I usually don't eat bread, but I've been carb loading like there's no tomorrow and that's making me feel more uncomfortable. Really need to rein myself in.

AliceGM · 07/06/2020 10:40

Glad it’s nots just me!

The call from the midwife is to check medical history and do a general health profile. Then we talked about the various tests you can do to check the health of the baby throughout pregnancy and we booked a blood test. She also sent my file through to hospital to book a week 12 scan :) she was lovely. Hope this helps give you an idea of what to expect.

Tink2020 · 07/06/2020 11:31

Nausea is getting worse today, first time I feel like I could actually be sick and starting to dislike some food that I normally like. Any recommendations on easy eating food that will help?

Seeker2020 · 07/06/2020 13:36

Hi @Tink2020....bland food is usually a good shout. Dry toast, pasta and rice, though bread is the only thing that's helped me. Most blogs and references say ginger also helps but you may need to try a couple of things. Nausea can also be bad if you are tired: are you managing to rest a bit during the day? Hormones play horrendous games. So sorry you are feeling so poorly. I'm with you - feeling really worn down and sick a lot of the time. How far are you into 1st trimester?

Tink2020 · 07/06/2020 13:47

I’m 6 and a half weeks. This is the first day I have felt ill with it. Resting quite a lot as I haven’t got the energy. I have managed to eat crackers, watermelon and mango and had plain porridge for breakfast.

Dragon82 · 07/06/2020 16:32

Hi all, congrats on everyone’s good news. I’m 37 and 6weeks+6days pregnant. Due 25th Jan. Been trying since Jan 2019 - very happy to finally be pregnant. Midwife telephone appointment tomorrow at 9am. Was feeling very nauseas and was a bit miserable because of it. In last 2 days I’ve discovered ginger nut biscuits and am eating 6 smaller meals/ snacks a day instead of normal 3 meals, that’s helped a lot. Nausea has almost completely gone but now I’m worried that’s a bad sign. As OH says, no point worrying as it’s all out of my control. Wishing everyone safe pregnancies. Flowers

Tink2020 · 07/06/2020 16:58

@dragon82 I am exactly the same, I am 35 and it’s my first pregnancy. Symptoms come and go which makes me panic. I suppose I will be like this until my first scan.

gracex4 · 07/06/2020 17:11

Well I have had a huge melt down today crying the lot. I still feel crap and I'm struggling to juggle everything. It's like being hungover because it's self inflicted and no one can help u 😖

Dragon82 · 07/06/2020 17:13

Glad it’s not just me. Wishing the nausea away. And then when it’s gone worrying about it. Can’t wait until first scan, and then hopefully will be reassured all is well. My identical twin sister has had 2 miscarriages so I am worrying a lot. But TBH, think I would worry regardless.

Dragon82 · 07/06/2020 17:19

@gracex4 I think meltdowns are normal. It’s not self inflicted, it’s not like a hangover. Don’t feel guilty. Symptoms will get better once we are in 2nd trimester (I hope).

gracex4 · 07/06/2020 17:40

@Dragon82 🤣I hope! Me too x

Gabbs1992 · 07/06/2020 17:40

I feel the same @gracex4 very sick very tired and guilty for what I should be doing but can’t face 😭 How has everyone’s diets been? I’ve been really paranoid about what I eat as google has so many opinions on food and what you should and shouldn’t have? Feel like all I’m eating is fruit and ryvitas 😭 Xx

Gabbs1992 · 07/06/2020 17:42

@Dragon82 aw try not to worry I bet you’ll be absolutely fine! I’m exactly the same though if I’m not worrying about one thing I’ve found another thing to worry about 🙈 glad it’s not just me x

gracex4 · 07/06/2020 17:44

Eating like an Absolute pig in between feeling sick then wishing I hadn't but it stops the sickness for a bit. 🤢🐷

gracex4 · 07/06/2020 17:47

Is anyone going to use reusable nappies and wipes? So I've always thought it was gross but I've been doing research after listening to a lady on here and watching videos and I'm right into the ideas dh isn't so keen tho

Onekidnoclue · 07/06/2020 17:55

@gracex4 I decided with DS to use single use nappies at the start and then if I felt I had capacity to deal with the ‘admin’ of reusable then I’d switch. I’ve never switch Blush.
I have hideous landfill guilt but I’m going to do the same again with this one. If I feel able to take on a bit more then I’ll go to reusable if not I’ll carry on polluting!

Hi,

I'm due end of January with my first. I'm so excited but so scared about having a miscarriage. It's going to be a long wait for the scan to check everything is ok. How do people cope with the wait? :)

Hopefulmummie · 07/06/2020 18:06

@nicjayne1 welcome and congratulations. I'm pregnant with my first too due 30th Jan.

It's a long worrying wait.. I ended up booking an early scan as I have been lightly bleeding.
Would you book one or wait to your 12 week?
