Replying to everyone in a new thread as the old one is full! Also tagging @Lemonysherbet @ELW85 @MrsH497 @LokiCat @larrydavid - so sorry if I’m forgetting anyone!

@MrsR16 It’s so weird, I was thinking back to getting my BFP for the twins the other day - some days it feels like yesterday but others it feels like a lifetime ago! I bet now Ethans here the pregnancy also feels like a distant memory!!

@TrashKitten10 Ah thanks lovely - wow a 9 pounder!! Well done you! I will definitely let everyone know as soon as I can once the twins are here :)

@PippaPug Thanks lovely! How are you feeling at the moment? Funnily enough they don’t do the steroid injections at my hospital if you’re going to deliver post 37 weeks so I’ve managed to swerve that one - how have you found them? Hurray for big babies - looks like we’re both going to have some chunky twins on our hands!! Do you find you are constantly congratulated at hospital for keeping them in so long/growing them so big?! I get it every time!

@Fivebyfive2 Joe is adorable! How was your first night away?

@thumper59 12 weeks! He is so so cute and I LOVE the matching jackets haha!

@purplefig Ugh the first lie in didn’t go to plan, I woke at 3 and couldn’t drift off again until 6... so glad it isn’t just us wobbling on names at the midnight hour! Yep ours will be Irish names - narrowing it right down and making it even harder for ourselves!! Hope you enjoyed your last yoga class!

Had a scare this morning; after a shocking night trying to sleep I woke quite late (well, around 9) - twin 2 dancing the jig as always but couldn’t feel twin 1 at all. I tried absolutely everything, I must have had a full litre of orange juice, chocolate, prodding at his side of my belly and I just got nothing. I called DH at 11 and just broke down, and we were soon off to triage. I literally cried all the way there! We had a CTG and as much as she struggled to find twin 1, he’s there and heart is pounding away. She told me he’s very low now, and position wise twin 2 is actually almost sitting on top of him so masking some of the stronger movements. The little swines! I’m so relieved, but it was horrible - I was terrified. Tracking twin movements is such a minefield!!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

@purplefig she's beautiful, you must be so proud. How are you feeling? Yes please to your birth story when you've got a minute :)

Happy Sunday all! We've done a food shop and it's taken all my energy. Snooze time! God I love Sundays

ELW85 · 23/02/2020 16:26

Afternoon all!
How are we doing?

If you haven’t seen it yet, ‘Babies’ on Netflix is awesome and very mince worthy! DH and I watched it all over 2 nights and it’s gotten us even more excited (if that was possible!)
Next weekend is our new baby practical course at the hospital and then the baby shower next Sunday.
Totally cannot wait but am still a bit mindful that he could be with us at any point.
Midwife appointment on Tuesday so it’ll be good to see if he’s more engaged than he was.

Has everyone had a nice weekend?

@purplefig - congratulations!! She’s absolutely gorgeous 😀 I hope you’re all doing well and I can’t wait to hear your birth story!

Lemonysherbet · 24/02/2020 19:17

@ELW85 DH keeps mentioning the babies thing on Netflix, gonna have to give it a go!

How's everyone doing? Apart from the face it's Monday 🙈

I've counted up, I've got 10.5 weeks left at work. I'm so tired that seems like a long time! You can't have long left now @LokiCat

@FlapJackered how are you getting on?

ELW85 · 24/02/2020 20:40

Evening all!
Got a midwife appointment tomorrow and the health visitor coming on Monday. It’s all getting so close now! Can’t wait to see if he’s more engaged tomorrow 😊

How are we all doing?

@Lemonysherbet - definitely watch it! DH loved it as well so I’m sure you and your DH will too.
How are you doing? Those weeks will fly over!
I’ve got less than 3 weeks left at work and it is tiring but it’s great that the end is in sight!

MrsH497 · 24/02/2020 21:08

@Lemonysherbet I've worked out I've got 10 weeks of work left! Feels a bit real now! Maternity leave all approved and starting to look at hospital bag essentials!

Monday was busy but always is for us DH hasn't been well at all either all weekend ended up having a chest X-ray so waiting for those results.

Had the most vivid baby dream last night and it was a girl! Everyone seems to think it's a girl as well. Anyone got any ideas from my scans?

28 week appt on Friday now officially in the 3rd trimester I believe. Hope everyone is doing well x

Lemonysherbet · 24/02/2020 22:01

@ELW85 wow only 3 weeks of work, that's exciting! How are you feeling? I'm good thanks, just tired but I can handle that, I've just slowed down which I am enjoying 😁

@MrsH497 wow those scan photos are so clear. Is that from your 20 week scan? No idea what you're having though I'm afraid. Yay were both on a countdown together!

So just realised I need tights for a wedding this weekend, tried on a pair of non mat ones I already had and there's no way they're going on. Any suggestions of high street shops I can get them in, I've left it a bit late. Being curvier too I also struggle finding shops that will have ones that fit me!

MrsH497 · 24/02/2020 22:31

@Lemonysherbet yeah that was my 20 week one. Feel exactly like you starting to feel myself slow down. Struggled a bit more getting out the bath tonight!

Tights hmm I've struggled got the jo jo ones which I think are awful and fall down. Snag tights are meant to be fab for general wear and come up as high as over bump, they say they are suitable for maternity. If you find a good pair let me know!

I'm browsing the seraphine website I don't need anything really but they do have some lovely stuff.

LikeTheFruit · 24/02/2020 22:33

@Lemonysherbet I got black mat tights from
John Lewis. They're v opaque but have been fab

LokiCat · 24/02/2020 23:37

Hi all! Struggling to sleep these days, so always end up browsing on my phone till late. Only issue is I start browsing amazon/Etsy and place late night orders which I really shouldn't do 🙈😂
Thankfully I've got this week off work so enjoying just relaxing at home and not having to worry about early starts! 😊

@ELW85 hope all goes well at your midwife appointment tomorrow! Also health visitor coming round? Eeeek it's all getting so close and exciting! Not long left 😁
Ah baby shower will be so fun! I've got mine on 14th March 😊

@Lemonysherbet I've got about 5 weeks left at work! Can't believe how fast it's going!
Those 10 weeks will fly by, I'm sure. It felt like just yesterday I was saying I had 10 weeks left to my colleagues.
Re maternity tights - I've not used them myself but ASOS seem to do maternity ones. Their next day delivery service is pretty amazing!
It's annoying that everything maternity is only online.

@MrsH497 your scans are so detailed and amazing (although I'm rubbish at reading them to say what you're having, sorry)! Happy third trimester 😁 can't believe how far along you are as well.
I hope your DH is okay?
Hope all goes well at your 28 week appt x

@LikeTheFruit how's mat leave going?

Got my next growth scan on Wednesday, followed by an appointment with the doctor at the diabetes clinic. I can't wait to see her again, but also slightly nervous to see how big she is. Hopefully she's still on track and I can continue with my original plan of natural labour, but let's see!

ELW85 · 25/02/2020 08:10

@Lemonysherbet - I’m now at the point that I wish I’d started Mat leave earlier but they still don’t have my replacement at work, so I’m kind of stuck.
I wish I had the option to slow down, to be honest! I’m on the 6.22 am to Glasgow tomorrow and I’m not looking forward to it. I’ve pointed out I’ll be 36.5 weeks pregnant but it’s not really registering with anyone!
Tights wise, you can actually pick some good ones up in Boots and my others are from Topshop, but the Topshop ones I had to order online.

@MrsH497 - can’t see to determine sex, but those are great scan pics!

@LokiCat - I’m really looking forward to the appointment and the baby shower. Only 5 weeks left for you? They’ll fly over!

Lemonysherbet · 25/02/2020 08:37

@likethefruit @MrsH497 @LokiCat @ELW85
Thanks for the tights recommendations everyone, I know how I'll be spending my lunch break!

@mrsh497 I find myself doing that with mat clothes, but im finding myself living in the same things over and over so manage to talk myself out of buying anything. I can't believe how clear your 20 week scan was, it's incredible!

@lokicat oh wow is that all you've got left, that's exciting! How many weeks will you be when you go off? How are you feeling in general? I get the late night browsing thing too. Woke up at 2am last night and didn't get back to sleep until 6 so I ended up on my phone for an hour! Safe to say I'm a zombie today. I'm so tired I feel drunk.

@ELW85 oh wow I can't believe they're sending you on a flight that late in your pregnancy. In terms of replacement, I feel like where I work are being just as crap. It's hard because I feel like it puts more pressure on me up until the end. At least we're protected with the knowledge that we can just start our mat leave immediately (well you can) if it gets too much :)

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday, I've just seen an inkling of sunshine here and it's made me happy, even if I've had 4 hours sleep and feel drunk.

LikeTheFruit · 25/02/2020 10:27

Hey everyone.

Mat leave going well so far thanks @LokiCat
Officially started it yesterday, had to chase up HR as still didn't have my maternity entitlement letter but all sorted now!
Had midwife yesterday, I'm only 2/5 engaged so she's sure I'll still be pregnant at next appointment in 2 weeks when I'll be offered a sweep.

38+4 today, can't believe it! Still feeling pretty good though. Just sleepy on an evening and sitting is more uncomfortable unless I'm bolt upright. Met a friend for lunch yesterday and then my mum for a coffee - end up doing more than 10,000 steps somehow! Still going to my circuit gym class once a week and yoga but the yoga is definitely getting more difficult as o can't seem to bend at all 😂.

Hope your appointment goes well today @ELW85

We're getting our hall tiled today and finished off kitchen renovation. Then I'm on a course for 2 days then I really need to start nesting!! Think we've bought everything we'll need initially and hospital bags are packed so would be ready if needed. Though I would probably quite like baby to be about a week late 😂😂. Just to feel a bit more organised!

Larrydavid · 25/02/2020 11:37

Hey guys! I've had such a busy two weeks. I'm going on holiday on Thursday so am doing twice as much work this week so I can go! Feel a bit overwhelmed actually but the end goal is a week off 🙌🏼 so I must not moan.

@Lemonysherbet I bought a couple of pairs of maternity tights in asos - they had a few pairs and were delivered the next day.

@MrsH497 no idea of gender but that is one clear scan! Amazing.

@LokiCat I'm always late night browsing! I can tell you how many times I've walked to the post office to return all the things I inevitably don't need!

@ELW85 I can't believe they're sending you on trips so late in your pregnancy! They probably know exactly what they're doing but it's the easier option for them. Hope that wake up call isn't too painful! 6am train 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️

@LokiCat wow you're so far along now. How exciting! It could be any day! I'm trying so hard to keep up with the gym and yoga but am definitely more out breath than I was. God knows what state I'll be in at 38 weeks! Well done 👍🏼

Have a great day. Tiny amount of sunshine here. Going to take the dog for a quick walk and make the most of it!

MrsEG · 25/02/2020 13:36

Hi ladies. Just dropping in to see how everyone is getting on! A few due dates coming up in the next few weeks as well which is so exciting. Hope you’re all getting plenty of rest in these last few weeks!!
Me and the twins were discharged from the midwife today as they are both now above birth weight which I am just so so happy about! We can finally move to more responsive / reactive feeding now. They are certainly a challenge and I don’t leave the house at all most days but there’ll be plenty of time for that!
I am also being referred to my GP as I haven’t been doing amazingly well all the time and we think I may have some PND. But I know seeing the GP is the way to go and hope some CBT will be really helpful. DH has been wonderful and the midwife gave me some really useful ideas/tips today to try and help me cope a bit better.
I’ve attached some pics cos they’re just too cute :)

Oh @MrsEG they are just totally gorgeous. Really hope you're doing ok x

@MrsEG they are so gorgeous. The middle pic with the crossed hands 😍😍

Glad you're getting lots of professional support. You've been through so much over the last few weeks it's hardly surprising the way you've been feeling. Also there's definitely no prizes for going out in this awful weather!

cupcakesandglitter · 25/02/2020 17:46

Hi lovelies - it's snowing here, currently lying in bed all cosied up 😂 three days until I finish work completely wahoooo! Finally ordered my kitchen and my bedroom is almost finished, apologies for the disappearing act again! Baby has had another growth spurt - I've attached another bump pic below! (Please excuse the mess, I can't seem to keep on top of the house with all of the bloody work 😡)

Oh @MrsEG they are absolutely beautiful - glad they're doing well and honestly you've done amazingly so far, I hope you have all the support you need, you've got this 💕

Ooh @Larrydavid where are you off to? I bet you can't wait!! X

Oh my god @LikeTheFruit how fast has that gone?! How fantastic that you're still so active too, that's brilliant 😁 apparently it's really good for labour too and walking helps baby engage more so fingers crossed for you, but glad you're enjoying your leave! So jealous of you finishing your kitchen Reno 😂 x

@lemonysherbert ive bought some maternity tights from H&M and they're fantastic! And were in the 3 for 2 offer - although I found out last week they're stopping maternity in store so it'll be online only 😭 I tried the tights on and sized down initially because of the stretch but now I know I should've gone true to size because they don't cover my bump! X

Aww @ELW85 is tomorrow your last travelling trip? Hopefully once it's over and done with you'll get some proper rest and wind down. Annoying they don't have your replacement though! Happy nearly full term for you!! How amazing!! X

@lokicat enjoy your week off 😁 I hope your growth scan/appt all goes okay - just remember they can't force to induce you early and I'd definitely stand your ground as much as you can so you have the birth you want x

@MrsH497 beautiful scan picture!! I have no idea but I'm going to guess girl just because 😂😊

@pippapug and @purplefig massive massive congratulations to you both oh my god!!! Three more cuties 😭😭 hope you're all doing well 💕 xx

Hi all! How's everyone doing? Lots of due dates coming up! I'm so excited for you all. Thanks for all the kind words and well wishes, I'm so loved up. I spend so much time just staring at her and sniffing her head 🤣 it's totally indescribable and I'm so excited for you all to get to experience it soon.

Some of you said you were interested in my birth story so here you go! I'm not going to go into detail about the first half too much, but basically I was in "latent labour" from Tuesday night until my waters went at 4am on Friday. During this time I was having a contraction every 10 mins, but not progressing. It was incredibly frustrating and I was in pain, wasn't able to get any sleep and the hospital wouldn't admit me as I was only 3cm, so not considered established.

Finally my waters went and I was able to get a pool room. from here everything changed and I had an incredibly positive experience. I was 5cm when I got in at 8am on and having had no pain relief, I got straight on the gas and air while they ran the pool. This helped immediately and took the edge off the contractions. Getting in the pool was absolute bliss. DH put my tea lights out, sprayed lavender oil and put positive affirmations on the speaker. My midwife was incredible and I just laboured and listened to my body. It's true what they say, you go into a trance and there's loads I don't remember! By just after 1pm I was fully dilated and ready to push. My body just took over, it was totally primal! The pushing stage lasted just under an hour and she was born into the pool - I'll never forget scooping her up and getting to find out and announce she was a girl.

It turns out she'd been back to back, hence the long and painful start. She didn't turn in labour either, so was born OP (complete with funny shaped head)! Despite that I only had a couple of grazes and one first degree tear that didn't need stitches. After she was born I had the injection to expel the placenta, got out of the pool to deliver it and have that golden hour with my girl. Oh, and that infamous nhs tea and toast! Then we were home and tucked up on the sofa by 7pm ✨
