Replying to everyone in a new thread as the old one is full! Also tagging @Lemonysherbet @ELW85 @MrsH497 @LokiCat @larrydavid - so sorry if I’m forgetting anyone!

@MrsR16 It’s so weird, I was thinking back to getting my BFP for the twins the other day - some days it feels like yesterday but others it feels like a lifetime ago! I bet now Ethans here the pregnancy also feels like a distant memory!!

@TrashKitten10 Ah thanks lovely - wow a 9 pounder!! Well done you! I will definitely let everyone know as soon as I can once the twins are here :)

@PippaPug Thanks lovely! How are you feeling at the moment? Funnily enough they don’t do the steroid injections at my hospital if you’re going to deliver post 37 weeks so I’ve managed to swerve that one - how have you found them? Hurray for big babies - looks like we’re both going to have some chunky twins on our hands!! Do you find you are constantly congratulated at hospital for keeping them in so long/growing them so big?! I get it every time!

@Fivebyfive2 Joe is adorable! How was your first night away?

@thumper59 12 weeks! He is so so cute and I LOVE the matching jackets haha!

@purplefig Ugh the first lie in didn’t go to plan, I woke at 3 and couldn’t drift off again until 6... so glad it isn’t just us wobbling on names at the midnight hour! Yep ours will be Irish names - narrowing it right down and making it even harder for ourselves!! Hope you enjoyed your last yoga class!

Had a scare this morning; after a shocking night trying to sleep I woke quite late (well, around 9) - twin 2 dancing the jig as always but couldn’t feel twin 1 at all. I tried absolutely everything, I must have had a full litre of orange juice, chocolate, prodding at his side of my belly and I just got nothing. I called DH at 11 and just broke down, and we were soon off to triage. I literally cried all the way there! We had a CTG and as much as she struggled to find twin 1, he’s there and heart is pounding away. She told me he’s very low now, and position wise twin 2 is actually almost sitting on top of him so masking some of the stronger movements. The little swines! I’m so relieved, but it was horrible - I was terrified. Tracking twin movements is such a minefield!!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

Morning all!

Health visitor went ok today, just basically explaining the services they offer and then asked to see where he would sleep. Nothing controversial!
How are we all today?

Little one is going mad and properly pressing down on my cervix. I wonder if he’s more engaged? 🧐

@MrsH497 - thank you so much!! I managed a few hours and then straight back into my onesie, haha!

@cupcakesandglitter - thank you! It was nice getting dressed up and with 9 working days left I’m definitely feeling it!

LikeTheFruit · 02/03/2020 11:55

@MrsH497 @LokiCat I know can't believe it's so soon, not sure where the time has gone!

@ELW85 gorgeous pic! Glad baby shower went well. No real labour signs yet. Getting braxton hicks most days now. Hoping for at least a few more days before it all kicks off.
Keep powering through with work, you're so nearly there!!

@cupcakesandglitter it's funny, in some ways it feels like I got my BFP just the other day and in other ways it feels like I've been pregnant forever! The tea is alright really, doesn't taste of much. V drinkable!

I'm doing some reluctant nesting today. I must clean!!!!

Bump pic today at 39+3! Excuse the yet to be tidied bedroom and awful wallpaper we've not got around to replacing yet (3years in!!)

@LikeTheFruit a gorgeous bump pic! You look amazing!

purplefig · 02/03/2020 16:59

@ELW85 glad you enjoyed your baby shower - you look incredible! 😍

purplefig · 02/03/2020 17:57

Ahhh pressed send too soon and then lost a long reply! 🙄 feed time now so I'll catch-up again later. Glad you're all doing well from what I read - lots of due dates rapidly approaching 🤗 x

LokiCat · 04/03/2020 11:50

Hey ladies! Happy hump day 😊

@ELW85 you look gorgeous! Glad to hear you had a lovely baby shower. Afternoon tea sounds great, I've mentioned to DH about booking one once baby is here and I'm really missing some scones and clotted cream 🙊
Hope your last few days at work are going okay!

@LikeTheFruit ahh what a gorgeous bump 🥰
You're almost at 40 weeks! How are you feeling? Any labour signs?

@purplefig hope you and baby M are doing well ❤️

So Monday back at work was a real struggle. I have a 15 minute walk from the station to my office and I was in so much pain. Spoke to my manager once I got in and we've agreed a 3 day WFH schedule (so I'll only be in the office on Mondays and Thursdays) for the next two weeks, which is when we'll reassess! So happy they're so understanding about all this. I was struggling at home for the rest of Monday, but have felt great yesterday and today, so being at home is really helping.

Bit of TMI but a quick question - do any of you feel like you constantly need to pee/are you're 'leaking' (it's definitely pee)? I've been doing kegel exercises (albeit not as religiously as I probably should) but is it because the baby is probably pushing on the bladder?

ELW85 · 04/03/2020 22:00

Hi all

Can’t believe I’ve only got 7 WD left! I hope you’re all doing well?

@LikeTheFruit - thank you, you look great too! Are you all set for Friday?

@purplefig - thank you so much! How are you and baby M doing? X

@LokiCat - thanks lovely! I checked and I think you can have clotted cream as it’s pasteurised! Double check though 😊
About the leakage...it’s quite common 3rd tri as the baby’s brain develops quite a bit and presses down on your bladder. Pregnancy is so glamorous isn’t it?!
Great that you’ve got a decent WFH agreement in place. I’ve been shattered this week but slept through the night last night for the first time in ages, so I felt like a new woman today, haha!

Larrydavid · 04/03/2020 23:03

Hey hey, will catch up properly with messages when I'm back in UK. Had a bit of a weird last day in New York. Started bleeding heavily this morning and spent the day at the ER. I've been cleared to fly (though not sure if we're going to make the plane). Luckily the bleeding has almost stopped. They think it's because my placenta hasn't moved up and is partly over my cervix. Has anyone else had bleeding during pregnancy? Yikes, this morning was scary, I've never been so relieved to hear that little heart beat!

Hope you're all having better days. X

Lemonysherbet · 05/03/2020 06:39

Morning all :)

@purplefig @PippaPug @MrsEG how are you all getting on?

@elw85 couldn't find tights anywhere in the end so gave up and went bare legged! Wasn't too bad as it was an indoors wedding (thankfully, in this odd weather). How was your baby shower? You looked lovely! (I know I'm about a week behind 🙈)

@LikeTheFruit nearly your DD! How exciting! How are you feeling? Your bump 😍

@LokiCat that's good news they've agreed you can work from home. I've leaked see pretty much the whole way through. I pee, get up and more comes out. I think he's right on my bladder as sometimes I get the suddenly urge to pee like it's going to come out on its own from nowhere. Also I started antenatal last night and they said it's very normal towards the end as baby starts to move down.

@larrydavid oh that must have been scary for you, are you still bleeding now? No advice but sending you love and hope you're ok. Did you make your flight ok?

I've been a bit rubbish at replying again, no excuse just lazy 😂 started antenatal last night and it's got me excited for the birth. I'm sure that will change as they go into more detail. They did put up a lovely cartoon of the perineal rub and all the men were a bit shocked.

purplefig · 05/03/2020 08:36

Thanks for all the well wishes! We've had a bit of a rough ride and have been in hospital for four nights for mastitis. It was a really nasty infection and I had to go on IV antibiotics and get 1-2-1 care at one point.

We're home and on the mend now, but I just wanted to pop on here to say make sure you go to GP if you get any signs of it. I left mine way too late (had a sky high temp and shakes), hence the severity and hospital stay.

@Lemonysherbet will you try the perineal massage? I did it on and off and only got a few grazes / minor tear that didn't need stitches with an OP baby. No way to prove it helped, but I'd certainly do it next time!

@Larrydavid oh that sounds so scary - how're you doing now lovely? Glad they are doing ok in there. Big hugs.

@ELW85 I'm so excited for you to go on Mat leave - your work schedule has been so full on! I hope you get lots of rest and sleep 💕

@LokiCat great you've got more WFH days agreed - that last bit of pregnancy is so physically tough! And yes to the pee - I didn't actually wee myself but I felt like I needed to go constantly. It's one of my fave things about not being pregnant!

purplefig · 05/03/2020 08:37

Pressed send again too soon!! Just wanted to add that M is doing great - she feeds like a champ and is already weighing above birth weight 💪🏼

ELW85 · 05/03/2020 10:55

Morning all

Absolutely convinced bump has dropped even more today! He’s properly squirming away too. I keep looking for signs that his arrival is imminent but I think it’s wishful thinking!

@Larrydavid - that’s awful, are you ok? Did you get your flight? I can’t imagine how terrifying that was but I have heard about the placenta causing issues like that. So pleased you got to hear the heartbeat - look after yourself!

@Lemonysherbet - thanks, the baby shower was fantastic! I’m so pleased we didn’t go to the full antenatal classes; DH would have passed out at that, haha!

@purplefig - I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been through that! Sounds very painful. So pleased M is doing well. Feel free to send us with more photos when you get the time 😊

LikeTheFruit · 05/03/2020 12:30

Aww thank you @MrsH497 @LokiCat @ELW85 @Lemonysherbet !

Can't believe it's 40 weeks tomorrow! Not signs of labour yet I don't think. Lots of braxton hick and lots and lots of rolling around and elbowing from baby! Baby needs to find the exit pronto! Must be getting really squished now, poor wee thing.

I have half a pineapple in the bath yesterday 😂😂. My tongue was killing me the rest of the day.

The only thing I've noticed is that my reflux has completely gone, I mean I was swigging gaviscon from the bottle overnight most nights but I've had none since Monday so must have moved down a bit.

Still got so much cleaning and sorting I want to do, can't really seem to find the motivation though!

Oh @Larrydavid what a horrible experience for you! I hope you're alright now, you must have been terrified especially being away from home. Thinking about you.

Hope everyone else is well!

MrsH497 · 05/03/2020 12:54

Oh @Larrydavid that sounds so scary hope you are ok.

Well I'm 30 weeks on Monday and definitely huge and tired! Anyone else have their belly button pierced?! Odd question I know!

LikeTheFruit · 05/03/2020 16:08

@MrsH497 I do but I took it out while TTC. I read somewhere that it might have been blocking my fertility chakra 😂😂😂

MrsEG · 05/03/2020 17:07

@Lemonysherbet I am good thank you! Need to have a good catch up on this thread and see how everyone is getting on. Hope you’re enjoying the antenatal classes - honestly, I found the best thing about it was making new friends! We all chat daily now and meet up.

@Larrydavid That sounds really frightening- is everything okay? Thinking of you lovely.

@LikeTheFruit My heartburn and reflux disappeared when the babies dropped and I went in to a slow labour soon afterwards! You’ll be pleased to hear I’ve had no episodes of reflux since either. And the old wives tale rang true for me as they were both born with full heads of hair!

@ELW85 I could tell when mine had dropped as if I prodded about they were sat really low and not up under my ribs! I’ve no reference at all for a single pregnancy though - my only experience is breech twins! Hope the next few weeks fly by for you.

@LokiCat I had a lot of leakage - even thought it was my waters at one point! It’s stopped now though. still doing my pelvic floor exercises every day though!

We are doing okay - managing the PND best I can and it’s exacerbated when I’m alone with the twins so trying to keep people close by! I also have a meeting with a doula this week as we are considering some practical home help - I need to be able to manage both babes at once so am keen for some expert advice. Because ladies, my god do you just have to wing it when baby is here! My one regret is not perhaps doing a bit more reading about what these early weeks would be like! The twins are both very colic-y which can make feeds hard work even for one, let alone two. But we’re managing it... just! The saving grace is they are sleeping well at night; we’re getting in to a regular night feed schedule of 9, 1 and then they sleep to 6:30 so after that feed we all get up. Which isn’t so bad for 1-month olds!
Here they are giving their new play mat a go last night - they don’t know what to make of it at all yet but still, I persevere!

@MrsEG I missed your postabout pnd, so sorry! it sounds like you've done the right thing and reached out though. I've suffered with severe anxiety a few years back and the one thing that helps is talking about it. The thing I found hardest was knowing it was there to begin with so I'm so glad you've noticed something isn't right and spoken out. Always here if you need to talk too, however trivial it may seem. The twins are just incredible 😍

@purplefig I think I will try the perineal if I can reach it. Anything to help birth being easier to me sounds like the dream win! The mastitis sounds scary, what exactly is it? I feel like im still learning so much. Sorry to hear you had to go back in but glad you're on the mend and m is doing well 🥰

@ELW85 did you play games etc or just a chilled one at your baby shower? Exciting your bump is on its way down. Haha yeh I think DH is a massive geek and secretly loves all the science though. Glad we started it quite early, think it gives me time to freak out at the info overload and then get my head around it 😂

@Larrydavid hope you're ok, thinking of you XXX

Sorry if I've missed anyone. I had to re-write after losing my message on the train 🤦‍♀️

Larrydavid · 05/03/2020 23:27

Hey guys, thanks for your messages. I made it back on the plane (after being cleared by the doctors we got caught in traffic and almost didn't make it to the airport!). Very happy to be home. I'm going to get checked tomorrow at the hospital. The American doctors said I have placenta previa which has probably caused the bleeding. They also think it's unlikely my placenta will move up now so I'll most likely deliver by c section. The bleeding has slowed down a lot but not quite stopped. A little bit concerned (this is TMI - apologies) that I've lost a bit of mucas plug. Google is a bad place when you're concerned. I'm going to get a few hours sleep and get checked first thing. I really am very relieved the baby is doing ok, which is obviously the main thing. It's all been a bit scary.

@MrsEG I hope it goes well with the doula - extra help sounds like a good idea. Do hope you're ok.

@MrsH497 I took my piercing out a few years ago. The scar is still there though

@LikeTheFruit @Lemonysherbet @ELW85 @purplefig Thank you. Feels good to be back in london. Hopefully I can get some reassurance tomorrow

cupcakesandglitter · 06/03/2020 01:18

@Larrydavid glad the baby is okay - hope everything goes well for you tomorrow at the hospital, how far gone are you now? Try and get some rest, I'm sure little one is doing fine and the hosp will look after you and baby xxx

@MrsH497 I've got mine pierced! Took it out as my bump grew though, it's stretched a bit and has a stretch mark on top of it (and is still quite red) but I don't think I'll ever put it back in so not quite fussed x

PippaPug · 06/03/2020 09:44

Sorry I have been MIA - The boys are 100% keeping me on my toes 24 hours 7 days a week!

I have struggled quite a bit - more so from the pressure from myself sadly....as most of you know I was a Nanny before I was a Mummy, so I would work for 12 hours a day and at the end of the day when I finished, everything was ready for the next day, the place was tidy, babies were fed and contented - it doesn’t happen like that for me anymore!

I have struggled with BF and I have cried so so so much over it, I really wanted to do it but we have had various factors which have not helped for us - non supportive staff at hospital, the fact I have twins, both Babies were tongue tied, I was put on medication and no one told me the effect it would have on all 3 of us, the size of my boobs (can’t position the babies in the right place) the fact they have had bottles for a while....I ended up paying for a private midwife to come and try and help as well....the mum guilt is real!

I have pumped every day every 3 hours and it’s a killer....I’m slowly coming round to the fact I need to go onto formula but I’m still struggling with it.

@MrsEG - I’m sorry you have been struggling with PND but I’m glad you have the help and support of your friends and family...have you met up with any of your new baby mum friends?

@cupcakesandglitter - I’m writing my birth story but It’s taking a while sorry!

How is everyone else getting on?

@LokiCat - I’m glad you can WFH a couple of days a week - really glad your employers are being so flexible with you!

@Larrydavid - that sounds so scary - I’m glad both you and baby are ok and you made the flight 💐

Oh @PippaPug they are gorgeous 💙💙 you're doing amazingly just know that!

Thanks ladies had my piercing a while but it's a bit sore and red even with a pregnancy bar in might have to take it out I guess.

I am struggling with tiredness and backache now guess at nearly 30 weeks I should realise my body is telling me to slow down (not something I'm good at!) bought some bits for my hospital bag (when did you all have them packed by??)

Anything you mummy's would say is a must bring or definitely can leave behind?

Baby was having a party last night I just laid in bed watching my belly move.

How is everyone doing? Who's next on due dates I can't remember xx

LokiCat · 06/03/2020 11:43

Hi all! Happy Friday 😁
Glad to know the leakage is normal - thanks ladies!

@ELW85 haha pregnancy really is very glamorous. I'm constantly having to change my daily party liners as the discharge is ridiculous (sorry I'm sure you didn't want to know that 😂).
Re clotted cream, I was thinking more because of the GD. I wouldn't be able to enjoy the sweet treats as much, so going to hold out till after so I can properly indulge 😁
Eeek how exciting that your bump has dropped! And only a week left till mat leave for you! Very excited for you!!

@Larrydavid that must have been so scary, especially whilst you were alway! Glad you've managed to make it back and the baby is doing well. I hope all goes well at the hospital today ❤️

@Lemonysherbet glad to hear the antenatal class was good and you're looking forward to the birth! We've got one for birth prep on Monday which I'm hoping will calm some of my nerves about it all.

@purplefig sorry to hear about the infection and having to go back into hospital! I'm glad to hear you're on the mend though and brilliant that M is doing so great.
I'm definitely looking forward not having to constantly wake up in the middle of the night to pee!!

@LikeTheFruit happy 40 weeks!!
Hoping the signs means the baby's exit is imminent. Also great to hear the reflux is gone! Mine gets awful some nights, so can't wait for that.
Hope you're doing okay and baby makes an appearance soon! Xx

@MrsEG I hope the meeting with the doula goes well. I'm sure having an extra set of hands with the twins will be so much more helpful! Hopefully it'll help a lot more with the PND as well, but I'm sure you've been doing a brilliant job and well done for trying to manage it whilst being on your own with the boys!
It's great that they're sleeping well. I'm sure that helps a lot! They are so adorable 😍

@cupcakesandglitter hope you're doing well lovely and enjoying your mat leave x

@PippaPug sorry to hear you've been struggling. You've done brilliantly to try BF and pumping so much, but please don't feel guilty about looking into formula instead - as they say fed is best so! It sounds like you had a lot of factors against you and I'm sorry the staff at the hospital were so unsupportive. How long is the private midwife with you? Hopefully the extra set of hands will help; it's important you look after yourself, so you can look after your gorgeous boys. I hope you're okay ❤️❤️

@MrsH497 I love just taking the time out to lie in bed and watch my belly move! The movements have changed so much and it's so surreal when I can feel parts of her against my bump.
I'm thinking I might start packing my bag around 35/36 weeks. Going to see what they mention at the antenatal class on Monday about what to bring etc.
After LikeTheFruit it'll either be ELW85 or cupcakesglitter next! 🙊 so many babies!!

Suns out today and I hope it stays like this for the weekend! It's my best friends baby shower tomorrow, I'm so excited 😁
Any nice weekend plans all? Xx

MrsEG · 06/03/2020 11:44

@Lemonysherbet Thanks lovely - it was DH who noticed it initially, I just thought I was struggling with two newborns! He encouraged me to share how I’d been feeling with the midwife and it went from there. He has been such a wonderful support - not sure how I’d have gotten through the first month without him! How are you feeling at the moment? Hope the anxiety has kept at bay during your pregnancy!

@Larrydavid So pleased to hear you’ve made it home. I had a section, if you have any questions at all about them I’d be happy to share. For what it’s worth I loved my birth. I hope everything goes well for you now these next few weeks!

@PippaPug Oh hun, I could have written your post myself. I stopped pumping last week and the boys are on formula exclusively now. I struggled so much with BF - I take my hat off to twin mums who do it but I found it utterly impossible and just had to make the decision. It has been the absolute best decision for all of us - DH does plenty of feeds (as have my Mum and sister), I have some actual time back in the day and the boys know no different - and they are also sleeping wonderfully; which is a nice added bonus!
I love the pictures - they’re amazing! Your boys look so similar!
We have an NCT meet up next Friday and we’re all booked on to the same sensory class starting next month too. It’s taken me a while to build up my confidence to go out with them both on my own but again the formula has helped a bit as now as long as I have a willing volunteer if they both get hungry I just pass a baby off to someone and I feed the other!

@MrsH497 There were so so many things in my hospital bag that I never used. The must haves are snacks/food for sure, baby clothes/hats/nappies and wipes etc. Comfy clothes and nighties for you. A good water or sports bottle. Maternity pads! But honestly so much I didn’t use - breast pads weren’t needed until I got home, I didn’t even open my pack of Tena pants, I took a fan and never used it. I’m sure there’s more but I can’t remember now!

OP posts:
MrsH497 · 06/03/2020 11:53

Thank you @MrsEG find odd little things like a hospital bag overwhelming I don't want to get it wrong! Realised I've never held a newborn, changed a nappy anything before which is a tad daunting! How are you doing? Xx

cupcakesandglitter · 06/03/2020 12:04

Oh no @pippapug don't apologise!!! It sounds like you're honestly doing amazing, you're doing the best you can for them (they're gorgeous btw!!) and you're persevering and you've tried everything you can for them so you should feel mega proud of yourself 💕 remember fed is best so don't worry about which way that is xxx

Thanks @lokicat I'm doing well, not getting much rest as the kitchen Reno seems to be moving a bit!! I've got a sweep booked in for the 16th so it's coming super quickly!! How're you doing? Xx
