After a mmc with my first pregnancy at 40 earlier this year, I would love to hear any success stories of any over 40s who have achieved a successful pregnancy! Xx

I had my first at 40, then a MMC at 43, currently 24w pregnant at 45 , ivf baby, first and only try , we were incredibly lucky. 40 seems so young now 🙂, hope you are well. Good luck.

Got my first at 43 (admittedly, only few days from being 44) and I am considering another one now at 45 (I would be 46/47 by the time baby arrives). IVF for me.

hamjul · 07/04/2020 18:26

Hi @Liissaa I am 47 in April, and due June 25th with my first baby. We were successful with our first round of IVF after years of heartache of not being successful. We could not afford the IVF clinic we wanted until this year, hence the first go at it. Very excited, trying to let that overtake the anxiety that is a daily feeling! Wishing you all the luck x

Liissaa · 07/04/2020 18:33

Hi @user1471523870 and @hamjul thank you you got your lovely stories! I was told to go for ivf before 43 if that was the avenue I wanted to take but you have given me hope that there is more time! Much love to you both xx

Hi, I’m 46 and 10 weeks pregnant had my booking appointment on Sunday and although midwife was really great and explained all the risks and told me I wasn’t the oldest mum to be she’s supported I’m worried sick, been on an emotional rollercoaster since I’ve taken test I genuinely thought I was going through menopause. I have a son, 26 a daughter 23 and two beautiful granddaughters 4 and 3 months goodness knows how they are going to react 😢 feel silly and embarrassed

Liissaa · 08/04/2020 11:38

@Motherkeg73 noooo! Don’t feel silly and embarrassed! This is amazing! Massive congratulations to you! I think this is truly brilliant! 🙌🏼 Xx

Three forty-something women on my team at work had babies recently. Two were first time mums. Everyone happy and healthy. Good luck!

Liissaa · 08/04/2020 14:13

@Motherkeg73 thank you, we are. Take care of yourselves and your little one. @HarrietTheShy thank you so much. There’s seems to be more 40+ mothers than I thought!

I got pregnant a month before my 40th birthday, but miscarries at 8 weeks. I then became pregnant again 6 months later despite being on the pill and my DH having a vasectomy! Baby is now here, happy and healthy.

Good luck TTC if that is what you want Smile

Chickoletta · 18/04/2020 09:57

Sad news from me I’m afraid. Found out on Weds that I’ve had a MMC. It was twins but they stopped developing at around 8 weeks - I should be 11 weeks now. Obviously, we are devastated but I have been so well looked after by the EPU team. I’ve read lots about how the medical fraternity don’t really care in these situations and that could not be further from my experience. The wonderful midwives have assured me that I have every chance of a successful pregnancy soon if we choose to try again.

kazza446 · 18/04/2020 09:59

I had my 4th child at 42, he was a little surprise and I don’t regret a day of it! He’s kept me young!!

Liissaa · 18/04/2020 17:43

@Chickoletta I am so so sorry. This happened to me too. It’s truly heartbreaking and I am sending you all my love. Always here for you to talk to if you need it Xx

@kazza446 what a lovely surprise! Thank you for sharing xx

@Liissaa - thank you so much. I’m ok. Sad but looking to the future. Glad something’s actually happening now after a week of limbo.
Hope to be back with good news before too long.

Hi everybody! Just checking in. Nothing to report really. It’s now 4 weeks since the start of my MC (5 weeks since we learnt that it was a MMC - I was 11 wks, twin babies stopped developing at approx. 8 wks).

We are now actively TTC again. No sign of AF yet and no real signs of ovulation either. Hoping that either one or the other will happen soon.

How is everyone else doing? Any news?
