After a mmc with my first pregnancy at 40 earlier this year, I would love to hear any success stories of any over 40s who have achieved a successful pregnancy! Xx

I was 44. DD is now 7. Good luck x

I’m sat here breastfeeding my 11 week old, conceived at 40 and born at 41. Easy pregnancy and 6.5 hour natural birth. Only complication was gestational diabetes.

She’s perfect and we are so lucky. She’s first (and only) baby for DH and I. We conceived in less than a year of not properly trying (he was 45, now 46).

@Moonflower12 and @Megan2018 thank you so much. @Megan2018 huge congratulations xx

I'm 41 and currently 37 weeks pregnant. I've had a fairly normal pregnancy with no complications as of yet. They won't let me go over 40 weeks due to age & I have arthritis in my hips from a teenager so getting induced in 2 weeks! Even my doctors are super impressed with me & the uneventful pregnancy I've had

Moonflower12 · 04/12/2019 01:21

@Liissaa
Forgot to add- my pregnancy was totally unexpected and uneventful- so much so it only got picked up on a scan for something else, at 31 weeks!

Liissaa · 04/12/2019 07:06

@starflake congratulations and good luck! Xx

I had my first at 40 and just got my second BFP today at 43. I know I have a long road ahead but i had a great pregnancy first time round so I'm keeping everything crossed.

Liissaa · 04/12/2019 08:09

@cansantabringmeabfp congratulations!!! Hoping you have a healthy pregnancy xx

Hi OP. I'm currently subletting a flat from a family. The mum is 44 and has two beautiful, sweet healthy children aged 1 and 3.

Hi,
I hope nobody minds me resurrecting this thread after a few months but I’ve really enjoyed reading it. I’m currently 8 weeks pg with no.3 at 41 and have just scared myself silly by reading the increased stats for all sorts of birth defects and problems. Would love to hear some more happy stories please.

Liissaa · 28/03/2020 17:57

Hi @chickoletta congratulations! I was just thinking about this thread the other day! Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy. I’m still trying and remaining positive xx

42 and 32 weeks pregnant here! 😊 It’s been 11 years since my last baby and I won’t lie, it’s been harder (more tired, on Clexane etc) but all good so far. X

Chickoletta · 28/03/2020 19:52

This is a fab thread - thank you. My older two will be 10 and 7 when this one arrives and I am so looking forward to seeing them with a little sibling - they are both very loving kids and have been asking for a little brother/sister for ages. I’m going to have the Harmony test in a couple of weeks (if the clinic’s still open) and think I’ll be able to relax if that comes back clear. I’m not worried about the pregnancy or birth at all really as I’m very fit and well for my age and have had good pregnancies and births before. I’m just so desperately worried that there will be something wrong with the baby.

Chickoletta · 28/03/2020 19:54

@Liissaa - glad you’re feeling positive and still trying. Fingers crossed for you.

Liissaa · 28/03/2020 20:24

@Jamsponge71 ooh you are so close! Congratulations!
@Chickoletta thank you. I know I can get pregnant, it just seems that things haven’t quite been working right since my mmc. I’ll keep trying and hoping.

This thread gives me so much hope xx

I had DC1 at 43 and DC2 43 no problems conceiving, one miscarriage between, problem free pregnancies, both were bouncing 9lb babies.
I still pinch myself looking at them.

Chickoletta · 30/03/2020 15:01

Had my booking appointment over the phone earlier - I’m 8 + 3. All good. Nice to feel that someone medical is taking an interest!
As I suspected, they want me to be consultant led because I am 40. Not a problem really and means I’ll get extra scans later on to check baby’s growth. We have an amazing brand new midwife led unit here which is in the main hospital and I am very keen to use it but they’ve told me today that this will only be possible if I go into labour spontaneously before 40+2. This seems unlikely as my previous too were 41+2 and 40+5. At least it wasn’t an outright no though I suppose.
Watched Bridget Jones’s Baby on TV last night which I enjoyed. She’s supposedly 43 (albeit fictional!)

Liissaa · 30/03/2020 17:05

@morriseysquif thank you for your reply. I feel really hopeful when I hear this!

@chickoletta the unit sounds amazing! Extra chances to see your little one can only be a great thing! Xx

I'm 42 and 7 weeks pregnant with number 7 (a little surprise after all the others were planned). Can't actually believe that I'm pregnant (I'm going to have to work out how it's happening)! 😉 So far, so good - I've had 6 straightforward pregnancies and have never had a mc. I'm really hoping that all will be OK but I'm freaking myself out by reading too many articles with scary stats. I'm just hoping that everything will be well. I haven't made any doc's appointment yet as we're self isolating and our local surgery isn't taking any appointments anyway. Good luck and congratulations to everyone with a little bundle on board.

Liissaa · 31/03/2020 07:54

Congratulations @punkyfish I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy! Thank you xx

Hi all, I have 3 daughters and unexpectedly got pregnant again at 4. I was So excited and a bit scared, for our last daughter we tried for 2 yrs. reading all the negative stories and people’s comments is probably the worst part. I Went to my first check up at 9 weeks and heard the baby’s heartbeat. Went back a few weeks later and baby had no heartbeat at 11 wks. Had my procedure done 2/19/20. it was the saddest thing. Weeks later I found out my body rejected the pregnancy, it was another baby girl and she had Down syndrome 😢. I got my first regular period 5 weeks later. I have to say it was a very different period. No cramps but longer. Just got over it today. I can’t lie to myself.. I want to keep trying, but needed a group like this for support and encouragement. Thanks all for sharing!!

Barbiemum4 · 01/04/2020 21:33

^got pregnant again at 41

Liissaa · 02/04/2020 10:00

Hi @Barbiemum4 I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve found it so hard to come to terms with what happened to me. The ladies who have posted on here have given me the courage to go on and keep trying. I’ve been trying to help myself by finding out what I can do to improve my egg quality and it makes me feel braver knowing I’m doing everything I can. Sending lots of love to you. Please keep posting xx
