After a mmc with my first pregnancy at 40 earlier this year, I would love to hear any success stories of any over 40s who have achieved a successful pregnancy! Xx

Hello @Oldmamabear43, I was wondering if you had had any news... what a stressful time! I am crossing everything so that your hcg are going down. I was under the impression it could take quite a while for the levels to go down though, could they wait a bit longer before using the injection? 😕 thinking of you and please let us know when you know ... sending you plenty of positive thoughts xx

Liissaa · 22/07/2020 22:21

@Oldmamabear43 what’s going on I wonder? I hope they can give you some news tomorrow. Miscarriage is hard enough without al of the extra stress and problems. What will the injection do? I’ve got my fingers crossed for better blood results for you. Thinking of you in the morning xx

41 here. Mmc at 38 took another two years and lots of treatment but have 6 month old now

Oldmamabear43 · 23/07/2020 16:09

@Liissaa @FleurDeLotus

Hi Ladies

I had my bloods back today and they have gone down to 74..so last monday they were 80, this monday 81 and today 74 so that's a good sign im also bleeding a little bit so hopefully my body is sorting itself out.

The nurse said as i dont want the injection the consultant is happy for me to just be monitored aslong as my levels continue to go down as they are already low, so im back next weds for more bloods. Im feeling a lot more positive now.
@Liissaa the injection is methotrexate it is used to stop the growth outside the womb its a cell suppressant but then you cant ttc for at least 3 months.
@Fleur did you ask about the asprin? And how are you feeling?

I want to thank you ladies for helping me through this :-) xx

FleurDeLotus · 23/07/2020 20:14

@Oldmamabear43, that is good news! I am genuinely pleased and hope the level keeps on going down so you can be back TTC soon 😊

As for your question I did ask regarding the aspirin, in the first instance no one could answer me, finally the consultant’s secretary looked through my notes and saw that he had advised to take low dose aspirin from week 8, I hope it will be enough and not put this pregnancy at risk. I have also been booked for an early scan so we will have a better idea then. I have been feeling a bit sick with a tension headache / nausea for the past 10 days now but don’t know if it’s pregnancy hormones related or just tiredness related. Thank you for asking, as it’s too early to talk to anybody around me about it, it’s nice to be able to “talk” to you 😊

Liissaa · 23/07/2020 22:09

@Oldmamabear43 I’m pleased things look to be settling down if you know what I mean. How are you feeling? The injection sounds like something you’d want to avoid so you can continue ttc. Xx

@FleurDeLotus sickness is a good sign I think! I’ve got everything crossed for you. Xx

@Liissaa**@FleurDeLotus

Hi Ladies :-)
Im ok today bleeding a bit so hopefully my hcg will start dropping then i can get back to ttc seen as my biological click is ticking :-/. Ive just ordered some ovulation strips from Amazon so back to.the obsessing again :-(. Plus side...not pregnant=bottle of wine tonight..well why not!
@Liissaa how are you doing? I looked into.the dha you mentioned really need to try to improve my egg quality...although i doubt wine helps!. I hope you are keeping positive and any foods etc that help with egg quality please let me know. Please say wine Pringles cheese and chocolate :-Dxxx
@FleurDeLotus sickess and fatigue are a great sign! I knew my pregnancy was heading for trouble as i wasnt getting many symptons and i still didn't have a dye stealer on the FRER tests at 6 weeks!. I think they may have told me to start the asprin when i first get a positive as this was my second MC in a row...it was 2 tablets a day she said probably for my knackered body :-/. I hope you are keeping well and resting up..unfortunately wine is off the menu for you lol xxx

FleurDeLotus · 25/07/2020 15:28

Hello, I’m ok ... I hope 🤞thank you. I stopped feeling yuck yesterday so obviously I worried but today it has somewhat slightly started again, so hopeful ... and I don’t even know if it’s pregnancy related!! Wow! if it works, it’s going to be a fun paranoid 9 months 😂
@Oldmamabear43 What is dye stealer?

I don’t know if it has anything to do with it but I had read that the quality of the CM was almost as important as the quality of the egg (At least to conceive) and that grapefruit juice was beneficial for CM ... so before getting pregnant, I had started drinking a glass of grapefruit juice everyday. It might be silly but why not after all? If anything it made me feel like I was doing something (+ I like grapefruit) ... so maybe no wine for you either 😉

@Angliski congratulations 😊

Liissaa · 25/07/2020 21:16

@Oldmamabear43 I’ve followed an account on Instagram called the_dietologist. She has a Facebook group too and she advocates a Mediterranean diet for egg health which I’m trying to incorporate as much as possible. Lots of fruit and veg, whole grains, olive oil and nuts etc. I’m trying so hard to stay positive. If it’s meant to be, it will be.

@FleurDeLotus the one thing I have noticed that hasn’t got back to normal after miscarrying is CM. Even my app which I’m logging my temp on every morning is highlighting that I’m not getting it at quite the right time. I think I might start having a glass of that and see if it helps. Thanks so much for the tip!

This month we haven’t ttc as we are getting married in 37 weeks and there’s only so many places you can be at once! It’s felt so weird for the first time in about 18 months to not try on purpose!

@Liissaa, congratulations on your wedding, that is really exciting 😊

Oldmamabear43 · 02/08/2020 15:56

@Liissaa@FleurDeLotus

Hello Ladies :-)

Hope your both keeping well.
Sorry for late response been a hectic week just been advised my role is in the redundancy pool :-( a new job may have to put me ttc back a bit :-(
Had my hcg checked wednesday now at 61 so they want me to go back in two weeks as its going down slower than they hoped..just want it down so we can think about ttc, its strange not marking down periods and checking ovulation strips!.
@liisssa conrgratulations on the wedding!!..ooo Mediterranean diet and grapefruit diet im onto that then..need to.lose a few stone aswell ive put 2 stone on during the lockdown! :-(
@fleur a dye stealer on the FRER is when the test line is darker than the control line i was obsessed with taking the tests im so not use to.not weeing in a pot tbh as stressful as it was im missing it!
How are you feeling?..hope the sickness subsides..i never had it with my son but had it horrid for the first 3 months with my daughter.!
Im going to start on the grapefruit juice when my hcg levels drop i will give anything a go..for now i will stick to.the wine though :-)..just having a glass of red now watching queen of the South on netflix..its fab!
Stay safe ladies xxx

Liissaa · 02/08/2020 16:52

@Oldmamabear43 @FleurDeLotus

How are you both. Thank you, I’m Just hoping the wedding actually goes ahead with this awful virus around!

I’m so sorry to hear about your job. That’s horrible timing with ttc. I wonder what the hospital will do about slow falling hcg? I’ve set myself a challenge to be as healthy as I possibly can for the next 9 weeks when we are going to start seriously trying again. A bit of weight loss and lots of healthy food and exercise won’t do me any harm and it helps me to think that the things I am doing are helping me if you know what I mean. Positive mind and all of that. I had this weird dream that I was 5 months pregnant at my wedding. Complete wishful thinking but I would live it if it were true.

Hope everything is well with you fleur. How far along are you now?

Xx

Hello,

It’s nice to hear from you.
I’m ok, I would not class myself as having proper sickness, it’s more like occasional waves and regular headaches!... I paid for a scan a few days ago as I have a dodgy Fallopian tube and wanted to ensure the pregnancy was not ectopic. You could not see a lot but there was an embryo in the right place and with a FHB! Hurray! It was really nice ... although my age was mentioned a couple of times AND I was offered several leaflets about various screenings!! The midwife was lovely and very helpful but I think you can feel that they are a bit more cautious that when I was pregnant at 33 😃 according to my dates I’m 6 weeks + 5 days. Incredible how time seems to drag even you’d like it to go quicker!! On another positive note, I spoke to a lady the other day who had 2 healthy babies in her 40’s (one of them at 43), it’s always nice to hear...

@Liissaa, well done for you healthy challenge! I’m sure it will help, not only because of the healthy bit but also because it will make you focus on something else, if you see what I mean. I got pregnant a short time after buying a rather fancy pair of trainers because “if I was not getting pregnant, at least I was getting back to a good level of fitness” 😂

@Oldmamabear43, I’m sorry for your job, are you sure it’s going? It’s such a weird time that we are living in with no guarantee about anything ... If it comes to it, I hope you find something that you like quickly and that it does not make you postpone ttc too long. I keep my fingers crossed so that your levels of Hcg return to what they should be soon.

xx

@Liissaa...how long until the wedding?..bet your getting excited Smile
@FleurDeLotus ..thats fantastic news about the scan and the heart beat Smile how are you getting on?..is it more tireing than our younger years? Does the mum tum start forming sooner? ..hope your feeling well and keep us all posted on your progression Smile
Xxx

Hi, just jumping in, why such negative stats on conception over 40.... I know loads of women who've had babies over 40, but I can't help fixating on the negative stats

Liissaa · 30/08/2020 20:07

Hi everyone

@Oldmamabear43 it’s 32 weeks to go! From next month it’s all systems go again ttc. Sorry about your job but huge congratulations on your new job! Hope you can continue on your ttc journey soon.
@FleurDeLotus hope you are well and everything is good with you!
Hi @Sef89 this is the question! I read an interview by Tracy Neville the England netball coach who had given birth to her son at 43 after 2 miscarriages. She said that she was given the negative stats by her consultant. Her view was that If she had treat her players in the same way they would never have won a thing! Focus on the positives xx

Hi Ladies

I hope you don’t mind me joining, I’ve just stumbled on this thread as I’m sat here going through my second miscarriage (4th if you count the two chemicals I’ve had as well). I’m 40 , 41 in November and I’ve started to loose faith, seeing all these wonderful stories and the amazing support you give eachother has given me a tiny bit of hope xxx

Sef89 · 31/08/2020 15:15

... X

Holidaywindowshopperaddict · 08/09/2020 21:33

@Sef89 have you gone to the beginning of the thread? The whole thread is full of positivity. It is what it was created for.

Sef89 · 11/09/2020 08:30

Hi, after just suffering a loss I'm just wondering if any of you conceived whilst badly anxious and stressed as unfortunately I've felt terrible since and I'm worried being stressed will stop me getting pregnant, and I'm fed up of people saying just relax and it'll happen as I can't help it tia

FleurDeLotus · 12/09/2020 15:14

Hello @Sef89,

There is so much «you should / you should not». I was told too that stress MIGHT have an impact but personally, I did get pregnant twice in very VERY stressful time and I am naturally a worrier 🙄 ... Many many women feels very anxious after experiencing a loss and still get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy so don’t feel guilty for your feelings, it will just make you stress more. For your own wellbeing though, maybe you can speak to someone about how you feel? Weirdly enough it’s when speaking to an osteopath that I was seeing for the first time (just as part of my medical history) about my miscarriage that I managed to accept my feelings of loss and pain and got pregnant shortly afterwards. Herself has had 2 babies after 40!!

Wishing you the best x

Sef89 · 13/09/2020 08:48

FleurDeLotus thanks for your reply x
Was you really stressed at those points in time? Was you 40 or over? x

3isthemagicnumber3 · 13/09/2020 09:35

Just wanted to share my positive story. I turned 40 in Feb and conceived one week later. I am currently 35 weeks and so far so good!
