Checking in. How are all you ladies?

ELW85 · 29/09/2019 08:05

Morning all!

Had a wonderful day and date night with DH; currently just chilling in bed with candles on listening to the rain.
We don’t have any baby shows near us (from what I know) so I’m feeling left out, haha!

After doing some research, I think we’re going Snuzpod3 as it’s got the same/better features than the Chico NTM Magic anyway and it’s cheaper.
Hadn’t considered an extra Moses basket as it detaches but I’m sure I’ll be proved wrong in time 😂

@Tropicana1 - thank you!

@MrsEG - I totally just pictured your dog trying to sit in the pram 😂
I hope the nausea/heartburn has calmed down?
So happy for you that you’re feeling movement - it must be lovely that they’re so different 😊

@Lemonysherbet - congratulations on passing that mark, and I hope you’re having a lovely holiday!

@Anny27 - welcome 😊

BostonFern · 29/09/2019 08:08

@cupcakesandglitter did you enjoy the baby show? I remember having a Nando's craving in the first trimester, I hadn't eaten properly for weeks due to morning sickness-that Nando's was probably the best tasting Nando's I've ever had 😂
What pushchair did you go for?
Think I'm going to order the sheets today, so will let you and @Fivebyfive2 know how I get on once we have the snuzpod set up.
Will get some photos of the nursery in a bit, pleased with how it's coming along, it's exciting seeing the cot up too!
And yes to the body hair, mostly on my belly- I've not got a linea nigra, but I do have a fuzzy belly!

Hey @mrsof20118 not too bad thanks, how are you?

ELW85 · 29/09/2019 08:41

@BostonFern - ooh! Also keen to hear about the Snuzpod set up 😊 and see the nursery photos!
We decided on some stickers to make a mural instead of wallpaper last night; worked out being cheaper.

MrsEG · 29/09/2019 09:25

Morning ladies!

For all discussing having an extra Moses basket downstairs - we’re not bothering as my niece and friends daughter never took to them for daytime sleeping and only napped in their pram downstairs. So we’re going to see what the twins do, and can always quickly Amazon prime a MB if we need one!

@lemonysherbert Hope you had a fab holiday!

@Tropicana1 I did it all last night too! Must have woken 4 times and each time on my back. Just rolled back over. I’m not too worried as all my friends have said once you’re much bigger (when it really matters) the weight of baby will wake you right away if you roll on to your back!!

@BostonFern So jealous of your cinema sofa! We went to see Fleabag NTLive and it was amazing but god the chair was so so uncomfortable! No matter which way in manoeuvred myself! Looking forward to seeing the nursery pics!

@cupcakesandglitter That’s Great you got your pushchair. Which did you go for? Re: body hair I have such a furry tummy these days!!

@mrsof20118 Hello lovely how are you?

@ELW85 Heartburn has calmed down. I think I’m starting to struggle with large meals so just cut portions down yesterday and that seemed to help!

We found some carrycots nearly new with the attachment for our pram on marketplace last night so are going to collect them later on! I really ummed and ahhed about them as the pram is suitable from birth with a newborn lie flat option but as I mentioned above, chances are they’ll always fall asleep in it as babas so at least I can detach the carrycots and bring them in to the living room with me! Got the Baby Show this morning too for some car seat research! Have good sundays all!

OP posts:
Anny27 · 29/09/2019 09:38

@mrsEG thats a good idea having them sleep in the pram - basically a moses basket isnt it!

Fivebyfive2 · 29/09/2019 09:39

@MrsEG, I too have a fuzzy belly these days!! Apparently the old wives used to say it happens when you have boys! Good find on the carrycots 🙂

@ELW85, your day and evening sounds fab, you can't beat getting cosy and listening to the rain! Xx

@Bostonfern, good luck with snuzpod set up and I'll definitely look out for the sheet related updates... And nursery pics 😀

cupcakesandglitter · 29/09/2019 10:50

@BostonFern ermmmm not really 😂 it was quite busy and a bit smaller than I'd imagined - not much free stuff either which is a shame because there were lots of products but they all just seemed super expensive for what they were. We were going really just to look at the pushchair so glad we got that done! The travel killed me though, I was falling asleep on the way back and then ended up climbing into bed and having a good long nap 😂 that's exactly how I felt!! I'm barely scraping a meal a day so yesterday honestly that Nando’s was heaven!! 🤤 we've gone for the Ickle Bubba Stomp V4! I'd seen it online and was quite impressed but Baby Planet were the nearest stockist and they were in Leicester so we'd not seen it in person yet, but Baby Planet were at the show yesterday with lots of brands. There were some lovely pushchairs there but for the price and the bundle we got we were pretty happy with it! Ooh yes!!! I love nursery photos 😊 xx

@MrsEG we've gone for the Ickle Bubba Stomp V4 😊 ahh that's a good idea re the Moses basket!

I'm glad it's not just me with the fuzzy stomach then 😂 @Fivebyfive2 interesting you say it's a sign of a boy!! We're finding out in a couple of weeks eeeeeeeek 😊 x

LokiCat · 29/09/2019 11:42

Morning ladies! Hope you're all well.

@ELW85 glad you had a wonderful day and date night with DH yesterday! Listening to the rain with candles on sounds so relaxing.
I've been looking at the Snuzpod, as well. I liked that it has a detachable bassinet and that you can rock it.
Are you still baking today? I was debating making a mango cheesecake, but didn't get a chance to the store yesterday for ingredients and highly doubt I will today. Glad your symptoms seem to have muted, especially the nausea. Can't wait to be at that stage!

@MrsEG the pram looks great! Must be a relief to get that purchase out of the way. I hope your IKEA trip was more successful this time? If not, hope the baby show proves to be useful, especially for car seat research!
How exciting you're feeling some more proper movement, as well!

@BostonFern I can't wait to get to second trimester. Less tiredness and nausea is everything I want right now haha
Oh can't wait to see your nursery photos! I've been spending time on Pinterest to get inspo recently 😊 Also your thoughts when you have the Snuzpod set up.

@Lemonysherbet ah that's so great, glad you've passed the mark! Hope you had a brilliant holiday!

@Anny27 congratulations again lovely! So pleased to see you here 😊 how have you been feeling?

@cupcakesandglitter oh that's great that you've ordered the pushchair, how lovely of your MIL. Just had a nose online at it, it looks so stylish!
I haven't had a Nando's in ages - may have to hint to DH for tonight 👀
I've always had more body hair due to PCOS unfortunately, but completely agree on acne ridden teenager! My face feels horrible 😭

We're heading for lunch at my ILs. Might pop into John Lewis as well to get a feel at some pushchairs!
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday 😁

Anny27 · 29/09/2019 11:49

Thank you @LokiCat i am feeling okay, quite tired and boobs/nipples quite sore but other than that i dont have nausea......yet :S

My SIL is due in December and she has a snuzpod and said that if their baby is in its crib by when ours is due in May we can have the snuzpod so i am really hoping haha 🤞🤞🤞 her first was in his own room by 3 months so there is hope haha

Tropicana1 · 29/09/2019 12:15

£30 what an absolute bargain!! There are some Moses baskets on offer on the Emma's Diary app so maybe I'll take a closer look at them. I also do not fancy lugging things up and down stairs every day!
@MrsEG I did think about the pram carry cot thing but then with the dogs I think I would need baby on a stand so I'm not sure where I would put the carrycot with sleeping baby other than on the coffee table if I did that!

Anyone else getting through gaviscon like it's water? My acid reflux / heartburn is out of control at the moment I swear this baby must be kicking me in the stomach or something!

Fivebyfive2 · 29/09/2019 13:30

Food related hormone story... I made myself a sandwich, then dh decides he's going to make melty cheese on toast, so I cried because why didn't I think of that?! Stupid sandwich, where's my cheesy toast?? 🙁 Luckily, he made an extra slice for me 'to stop me from having a breakdown' 😂

purplefig · 29/09/2019 13:58

@stormtrooperjulian just catching up - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! He's an absolute cutie and what a lovely name! Sorry to hear labour didn't go to plan, will you have a debrief at the hospital?

@MrsC87 oh wow - look at him, 11 weeks already! Glad to here he's settled down - he looks like a happy chappy in that pic :)

@ELW85 so pleased your report came back with low risk - that's great news, you can put that worry to bed now! And a little baby boy, how adorable!! You can get more set on names now.

@PippaPug oh that's sweet of you letting him tell you - my dream scenario is I deliver him/her myself in the pool and get to announce the sex Grin

@MrsEG that pram looks epic - what are your first impressions? Glad to hear the pupper wasn't all over it. We said about setting our Moses basket up downstairs but I guarantee the cat will assume it's for him.

@Lemonysherbet that's really, really brilliant news! How's your holiday going?

@Anny27 congratulations!

I've had the best weekend! I got a gorgeous dress for the wedding - it's non maternity, but works well with the bump. Ended up getting something quite fitted (which wouldn't be my usual style) as everything floaty made me look plump rather than pregnant Grin. Let's just hope I don't explode in the next 3 weeks!!

Oh also, last night I am 99% sure I felt some proper kicks in there, not sure what else it could have been.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone! x

MrsEG · 29/09/2019 16:27

@Anny27 Congrats! Exactly - my sister often left her daughter napping in the pram in the hall while she cooked some food or just got 20 mins to herself!!

@cupcakesandglitter Ah the Ickle Bubba looks like a lovely pram. I bet you can’t wait to get it home!

@LokiCat Uh Don’t ask, I’ve completely fallen out of love with Ikea this week!! Hope you had some fun at John Lewis.

@Tropicana1 My sister just used to leave her in the actual pram so they were still high up! I absolutely hate the taste of Gaviscon but am starting to get heartburn after big meals - may need to get over myself, just hold my nose and gulp it down! Normal though - my sister kept a bottle in her handbag in her third tri she was so reliant on it!!

@purplefig We love the pram, so sturdy, so easy to put up and collapse down, piece of piss to steer too. Really pleased with it! Ooh dress sounds fabulous! How fab you’ve felt some actual kicks too!!

@Fivebyfive2 Haha!! I’d have done the exact same. We got jacket spuds today and I got mine with veggie chilli but DH got beans and cheese and it just looked so good, I was so grumpy about it. He was like ‘we can swap if you want’ but I was like NO it’s FINE in my own little grump haha. Ahhhh hormones!

Had a fab time at the Baby Show today! Had a good chat with a midwife about combi feeding with twins and she gave us loads of advice and we picked up some tiny size dummies and bottle teats, and a steriliser. She then gave us a zillion free bottles too haha. Also had a good look at car seats and asked loads of Qs. Annoyingly though the one we really liked (Joie 360) may now not work as it doesn’t have a handle to carry them out of the car. But we saw two others we like and I feel a bit ‘wiser’ about the whole situation now!! Also did a mini baby first aid thing; I can now officially help a baby that is choking!! All in all an afternoon well spent!

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 29/09/2019 22:25

@LokiCat same here!! Honestly though now it's growing at an extreme rate, and because my skin is so sensitive, getting rid of it is causing me spots 😭

@MrsEG definitely!! It feels more real knowing we've actually got one on the way 😭 glad you got some bottles too! Glad you enjoyed it x

DH has had to go to his mum's to get me some sausages because I NEED hot dogs RIGHT NOW 😭 he's currently cooking them for me downstairs 🥰 hope you've all had a lovely weekend xx

purplefig · 30/09/2019 09:12

@MrsEG Ahh that sounds great - can't wait to check out the single one. 99% sure that's what we're going for. Did you go and try it out before you bought it? Baby Show sounds awesome! Annoying about the Joie 360 - that's the one we were thinking of to, but no handle sounds impractical.

@cupcakesandglitter haha hope they hit the spot!

Quiet on here this morning! I hope everyone's got a nice week coming up? Ours is a mixture of work / catching up with friends and baby admin Grin. There's a nearly new sale on on Sunday so we're going to plan a bit better this time and stock up on some clothes...avoiding anything too 'gendered'. x

MrsEG · 30/09/2019 09:18

@cupcakesandglitter Hope you enjoyed the sausages!!

@purplefig I know, I honestly hadn’t even considered the lack of handle to carry the 360. Apparently most people get them to just stay in the car, but I know I’ll need to carry mine around especially if they sleep in them etc. Really peed on my chips yesterday though!! Looking at the Joie I-level now instead and will upgrade to the 360 when they outgrow them. Luckily MIL has said she’ll buy the lot - even the upgrade further down the line. Feel like a reeeeal shit bag for all my moaning about her recently now!
Nope we didn’t try the pram first, literally just took the plunge as the offer was so good. So I’m very glad it’s worked out haha! Picked up two carrycots second hand on FB marketplace now too so were fully sorted. Hope you had a fab weekend !

Happy Monday all! I have a rather embarrassing problem this morning. After a really lovely weekend with DH (he even came to the baby show, missing the Wales game) we DTD this morning and I had a rather wonderful O... however my bump has been really hurting since. A good 3 hours now; like a cramp very low down. I can’t decide whether to call the MW about it or just see if it goes away?! Has anyone else had this!? I’m just over 19 weeks.

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 30/09/2019 13:08

@MrsEG if you're unsure of anything, I'd call them! I had a painful bump and ended up going to hospital. They'd certainly rather you call and ask than worry! 😊 xx

ELW85 · 30/09/2019 14:27

Afternoon all!

I’ve been so sleepy and feeling like I’m fighting something off all weekend. Rubbish!
I hope your Monday’s are going well.

@LokiCat - after cleaning the bathrooms yesterday I needed to sit down; couldn’t bring myself to bake sadly. Probably a good thing as I don’t want to overdo the sugar at the moment!

@purplefig - thanks so much, lovely! Feel loads better now and if there is a next time, I’ll 100% do it again!

@MrsEG - definitely call the midwife just to be sure 😊

MrsEG · 30/09/2019 15:20

Thanks @MrsR16 @ELW85 I did call her in the end, she says it sounds like ligament pain and the contracting of the uterus made it feel worse. It’s definitely eased off after a long walk and now I just have to deal with the shame of saying the word orgasm to my midwife on the phone for ever and ever. My bump is growing like MAD (this pic was yesterday) so they’ll have a good check on growth at my scan last week and likely do a GTT test (eep).

@ELW85 Sorry to hear it! I’m full of cold, and it’s so damn painful to sneeze. Lots of liquids and an excuse to get your feet up for a few nights in front of a good box set!

Wow just come on to catch up after a busy busy weekend and @MrsEG what a bump that is 😍 mines getting bigger... I'll post a pic but I took it this morning in just my pants and bra, so - sorry... will catch up on everything else I've missed this evening.

BostonFern · 30/09/2019 16:30

@MrsEG I love a good bargain, great find on the carry cots!

@LokiCat how did you get on with the pushchairs?

@Tropicana1 my reflux/heartburn got so bad my consultant put me on ranitidine, it's been brilliant, far far less heartburn.

@purplefig how exciting to be feeling proper kicks now!

@cupcakesandglitter what a star your DH is! Hope you enjoyed the sausages!

@MrsEG we have bought the i-level, once baby is here I'll let you know how we get on.
Has the pain eased off yet?
Hope your cold goes soon too.

@ELW85 I hope you feel better soon.

We put the snuzpod up yesterday, we are really pleased with it. It feels really sturdy, seems roomy and as though it'll be nice and easy to use once baby is in it. Photo below, along with a couple from the nursery-we still need to put the wall stickers up, and the changing station is going in our room whilst he's going to be sleeping in with us, I doubt it'll ever make it back into the nursery then as I'm not keen on using them but DP wanted something he could change baby on at waist height whilst baby isn't rolling.

Here's a photo of the lampshade too, I love it (from Next if anyone's interested).

BostonFern · 30/09/2019 16:34

Lovely bumps too @MrsEG and @BabySquid!

purplefig · 30/09/2019 16:51

@MrsEG glad the pain has eased off and I really wouldn't worry about saying orgasm in front of your midwife, I guarantee she will have heard a lot, lot, lot worse!! Great about your MIL too, just hilarious timing! Interesting that you just went for it with the pram, I do wonder if I'm being a bit OTT driving 1.5 hrs to test one out. Can always return if no good?! Great you got the carrycots secondhand too - corrr I do love a bargain! OMG YOUR GORGEOUS BUMP!! Look at you!!! Grin

@ELW85 Good for you! I think in those kind of instances it's really important to know yourself. I remember at 8 weeks pregnant I was so paranoid there was 'nothing in there' that I couldn't enjoy the pregnancy at all. For me, getting an early scan was 100% the right thing to do at that time. Sorry to hear you're coming down with something, if it's any cosolation I am utterly shattered today too.

@BabySquid cute bump! Mine is looking similar....although gets progressively bigger throughout the day Grin.

@BostonFern such a sweet nursery - you look so organised! Love the bright pops of blue and yellow.

I'm totally shattered today. Will be surprised if I make it until my usual 9pm bedtime hahaa!! Officially 21 weeks though and otherwise feeling fairly grand - lovely having an actual bump.

Although we were out with DHs friend this weekend and his gf said "you barely have a bump considering you're halfway through". Tbf I was wearing a fairly loose maternity pinafore dress (@MrsEG that New Look haul is finally delivering the goods!), but it took me by surprise as I thought I looked obviously pregnant by now. I'm genuinely shocked at how long it takes to get a bump for some people though, back in my naive days of just a few months ago I thought it happened pretty much instantly. I feel like a lot single pregnancy women only really look obviously pregnant for the last trimester?!
