@thumper59 Ahh I hope everything gets going for you soon! Sounds like a very positive sweep!

@PippaPug our car seats are from John Lewis and they did a demo to set them up in our car for us and everything which was amazing - but I feel like I still barely know how to put baby in and out, how long they’re in them, car safety, all that jazz!! I’ve been reading up, but would be good to speak to the pros! You’re right - boundaries with in laws (and parents!) are so important. I think they are of the generation of ‘it takes a village’ when half the family moved in once baby arrived! Food wise - my appetite is totally back to normal now just very increased haha! I’m managing the foods I like but snacking tonnes more. Trying my best to keep the snacks healthy ha! Would it help if you were cooking meals you really love?

@purplefig I wish we could stay elsewhere; they live in the middle of nowhere! It would do wonders for the relationship I’m sure.

Oh @cupcakesandglitter @PippaPug I’m the total opposite I feel like time is disappearing! In 12.5 weeks I’ll have two babies!! I go on mat leave in 6 weeks! Where is the time going haha!

So I am wide awake as of 4:30 with my stupid PGP. Yaaaay. Googling how to sleep with it. Pillows between the legs do nothing as it just opens my pelvis more it would seem :(

Baby first aid last night however was excellent and I now feel very informed! They covered off everything for babies and children from cuts and scolds to choking and sepsis. At the end she said ‘I hope you never need to use any of this!’ and I hope she’s right haha! Also met a women there 2 weeks ahead of me with twins - they’re all coming out of the woodwork now!!

And thank you all again on the IL advice - DH spoke to them and essentially phrased it as ‘Let’s not plan anything yet - we don’t know how the birth will go and we may just need those first couple of weeks to find our feet’ and they seem to have taken it....okay. My sister and a friend came on the first aid course last night as a refresher for their kids and I asked them, and they both said 2-4 weeks post partum would be the worst time for house guests ever; it’s when they both say the baby blues kicked in pretty bad, and you’re still kinda figuring everything out. So we’re sticking to our guns!

Morning ladies 😊 16 weeks today 😁

@MrsEG oh no, sorry you're up so early and in pain. I hope you manage find something to help you out!
I'm glad your DH was able to reason with your ILs. The first few weeks are definitely the time when you and DH are figuring everything out and I'm sure you'll have your hands full, especially with twins! The last thing you need is to worry about is having your ILs there!
I want to book a baby first aid course, so I'm glad you thought it useful. DH gets training through work (although I'm sure one catered towards babies will be a lot better). Will look into that now.
Can't believe you only have 12.5 weeks left! There are days when I feel like time is flying and others where I feel it's moving so slowly!

@BostonFern how did you find the breastfeeding guru? I'll definitely be looking into that when I get closer to the time. I feel so clueless about it all!

@purplefig haha princess and the pea! That's brilliant. I'm glad you've found a method that's worked to help you sleep better!

@cupcakesandglitter ohh the colours/theme of your room sounds beautiful. I can't wait to see what it all looks like! Yeah I remember a few ladies mentioning on here that they've gone for the Snuzpod. I'm sure DH will see sense in my pick soon. So far he's realised I'm leaning products for a reason and we end up going with them 😁

@PippaPug it was amazing telling the family, even my nieces and nephew got really excited which I didn't expect! It's good to be able to talk to my SILs about it now, as well and see what their experiences were like.
Oh thank you for the website - the giraffe wall stickers are so cute! I agree that a bed in the room would be really useful, but our current guest bed is absolutely huge and everything would be cramped around it. DH finally realised what I was talking about, so I think we're either gonna look at getting a smaller single or double bed that fits in better.
Haha thanks, I'll remember to take food with me!

@thumper59 it sounds like your sweep was positive! I hope it gave baby the nudge it needs to start making a move!!

So I found out last night that a close friend of mine is due in May, a few weeks after me! I'm absolutely ecstatic for her because they'd been trying for 2 years and I was thinking for ages about how to share our news with her. Funnily enough she then told me that she was worrying about telling me as well, because we'd been trying for a while as well! It's funny how life works 😁

I hope you all have a lovely day x

purplefig · 05/11/2019 09:03

@PippaPug that sounds sensible - you can give them a call with any queries (though be prepared for a hefty queue). Love the bed setup 🤣 and totally reasonable to have a cry. I burst into tears yesterday because it rained when I was about to take the dog out 😳. And re: appetite I'm so surprised at how un hungry I've been lately - was fully expecting to be ravenous! That said, if I don't eat regularly I get headaches. I find doing some meal prep on Sunday helps get good lunches in (so I don't have to think what to get), I meal plan for dinners (and pick easy, usually slow cooker things). Then breaky is a smoothie as it takes 2 mins and is an easy way to get lots of goodness in.

@MrsEG oh I'm so sorry you've had such a shitty night! Could your physio advise? Baby first aid is a wonderful idea! And yay for more twin mums! Great news DH has spoken to the ILs and put them off too. Bullet dodged 😅 hope your pain is better today.

@LokiCat amazing news about your friend - it's fab having someone going through the same experience in real life!

Well after my gloating about my princess and the pea method yesterday, I slept awfully last night 🤣 I'm finding more than anything it's my hips, they get so achy from having to lie on the side.

What's everyone up to today? I've got pregnancy yoga this evening which I can't wait for! x

PippaPug · 05/11/2019 10:01

@MrsEG - if you google in car safety, you may find a place near you that will help install them and show the best way to do it, do you have Isofix or will you use the seatbelt? If using the seatbelt, watch YouTube videos and practice a lot - esp your husband as you won’t be able to bend to put them in when coming home from hospital.
I do agree that it takes a Village to raise a child but lots of boundaries in place! Glad they took it okish! I think it’s hard for in laws that they get pushed out normally for the new mothers parents...and sometimes it clouds their views and they forget you have had surgery/given birth and just want to meet the new child without thinking about anyone else! Hopefully they will see it from your view - and also when they see the babies they are a lot more alert and awake for them!
Can you sleep on your back at all? My back has been painful for a few nights and I slept on my back and it eased it a bit. Would a heat patch help, like deep heat?
Time just feels slow and I’m waiting for it to whizz round, I reckon after the new year it will fly by! Food doesn’t do anything for me - not even my favourite food 😭 So I’m at a bit of a loss....I think my taste buds aren’t quite right which isn’t helping!

@LokiCat - 16 weeks! That’s fab!
Ahhh so pleased your family were so excited including your niece and nephew, how old are they? Future babysitters perhaps?!
I love all their stickers but no penguin ones, I can’t find any penguin stickers which aren’t cartoons!
Very exciting about your friend due in May - wonderful to go through it all with a friend!

@purplefig - I can well imagine a long wait on the phone! I was like a child with so many pillows etc in the bed, almost had a pillow fort! Surprisingly didn’t sleep to bad although fell asleep with the tv on 🙈
I feel sick if I don’t eat every 5 odd hours even if that’s a snack....if I have a plan for food it’s a little easier but I just feel I’m eating because I have too rather then I’m enjoying anything!
Pregnancy yoga sounds fab, enjoy it!

MrsR16 · 05/11/2019 12:54

@PippaPug aw hun, I hope this week flies by for you!!

@Fivebyfive2 I'd definitely suggest bouncing on a ball to get bub to move! I'm convinced that why mine's head down and in pelvis already 😊

@MrsEG I think you're absolutely right to refuse in-laws! Both sets of our parents will just have to wait until I'm good and ready 😂 I'm glad baby first aid went well but I'm sorry to hear that your PGP is playing up so much!

@thumper59 any news yet lovely? I'm so excited for you!! I forgot that I'll have a changing bag! That's a great idea to pack for baby!

@cupcakesandglitter you'll be hitting your 20 week point before you know it lovely 😊

@LokiCat 16 weeks?!? Wow! And that's very exciting about your friend 😊

@purplefig sorry you had a rough night! I'm having a horrendous day at work today - boss is super stressed out which is never fun. Ah well, only a few hours to go before I leave here and go do my volunteering! 😂 I think I'm gonna have to knock that on the head soon...

cupcakesandglitter · 05/11/2019 13:00

@PippaPug oh that's great - id love to have scans that often 😭 I bet it's lovely that you get to see them grow 🥰 I'm the same!! (Other than Nando's, weak spot) but my portion size is half of what it used to be! I only really eat when I have to and my stomach is really rumbling, otherwise I'm not too fussed and can easily wait for DH to come home and then eat. I don't think it's a bad thing I guess as long as babies are growing okay 😊

@MrsEG 6 weeks?! Wow I that really has gone fast!!! I always think this end of the year goes super quickly - shame because Christmas has always come and gone too fast ☹️ - so I bet this bit will fly by for you!! Any way you could have physio/pregnancy massage or something today to help with the pain?

Thankyou @LokiCat managed to sell the bed so just the sofa and were ready to start working on it after the 20w scan!! I can't believe you're 16 weeks already 😯 how lovely that you have a friend so close too! You'll be able to do it together 🥰

@purplefig im with you on the hip pain!! I'm really struggling with lying on my side because a few minutes later I have to switch because they get really painful 😩 takes me ages to fall asleep ☹️ ooh enjoy pregnancy yoga!!

My boobs have grown overnight and are super itchy today 😩 I'm hoping DH can take me somewhere to sit in the car and watch fireworks later, I absolutely love them. And I really want a hot chocolate too 😂 we've made some good process with clearing out the spare room - I'm so excited! This week I'm getting quite horrible stomach pains, they don't last long but they're enough to make me uncomfortable.. I'm guessing it's growing pain, has anyone else had this and how do you deal with it please? 😭

thumper59 · 05/11/2019 13:07

Thanks ladies! Think the sweep did at least something. I've had a show this morning and been timing contractions and I think they're looking to be averaging around every 15 mins but they did have a 45 min break... hopefully he'll be here soon! They aren't too painful at the min but defo feel different to Braxton hicks!

MrsEG · 05/11/2019 13:12

@LokiCat The first aid was really really good. I wouldn’t have a clue what to do in an emergency but I feel much more prepared now! Definitely worth the £ and the few hours! Oh how lovely you have a friend expecting at the same time. My best friend is 3 weeks behind me but she lives in Cyprus sadly. She’s hoping to come over a lot during her mat leave though!

@purplefig Sorry to hear you slept awfully too!! I’m going to chat to the physio about it on Thursday. I want one of those hospital beds with the adjustable back so I can sleep upright haha! Enjoy your yoga tonight!

@PippaPug We’ll have Isofix bases for both thankfully! Mainly to help me out a bit when I’m going solo haha! Yeah, I think that’s it - MIL has never made a secret of the fact I stole her precious boy (she assumed he’d move back to Ireland.....until he met me!) so it’s always been a precarious relationship! It’s looking like they’ll wait til Easter now, which will just be so much easier. The weather will be nicer and we should be able to get out and about a bit more! Oh how rubbish - I do find I get full much faster now, but I’m still starving haha! No, midwife won’t let me sleep on my back now I’m past 24 weeks especially with my bump size. I’m going to try and power nap sat upright on the sofa when I get home though!

@MrsR16 Yep, definitley isn’t just the ILs, my mum wants to basically move in once they’re born too! She’s a nightmare! You should have seen her face when I told her as well that if babies need NICU they can’t visit as it’s parents only. She screwed up her face like ‘but what about grandparents?!’ I was like yeah, you’re not a parent! Ohhh they’re hard work haha. Sorry to see you’re having a rubbish day at work - that mat leave can’t come soon enough!!

@cupcakesandglitter It’s going to fly by! I have one big project which completes at the end of next week and then it’ll be the countdown to Christmas! A pregnancy massage is a fab idea. When you say stomach pains, what do you mean? Is it like a sharp pain on your bump? If so that’s likely ligament pain and there’s bugger all to do about it I’m afraid! When mine is bad I do have a nice bath. Try to avoid any sudden movements too :)

I can’t remember who recommended the chewable Gaviscon but I had some today - game changer!! I feel tonnes better!

OP posts:
MrsEG · 05/11/2019 13:12

@thumper59 eeeeep how exciting! Come on waters, break!! Good luck lovely XX

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 05/11/2019 13:22

Yay @thumper59 ahhh I hope it progresses quickly - hoping you have a relaxed and healthy labour, keep us posted!! X

@MrsEG ahh that'll be great! It's so surreal, I remember you getting your BFP and now they're nearly here! 😭 it's quite sharp, sometimes I get period pains too which is annoying but I feel like it's when she has a growth spurt, my bump is definitely growing a bit more every day. With baths I love a really really hot one and can't stand anything other than that so I've not had one at all ☹️ glad the gaviscon works for you!! Does heartburn with twins mean they'll both have lots of hair too? 😊

ELW85 · 05/11/2019 13:59

Hi all

Apologies, work is beyond mental and I’ve woken up at 4am for the past two mornings so I’m wiped out now!

I’m sure I’ll have missed loads, so I’m sorry in advance!

@cupcakesandglitter - ah I can’t believe you’re just two weeks behind! That’s amazing! I knew we were close together but that’s awesome 😊
We’ve gone for the Snuzpod too, and thank you for the tip on the cloud stuff in Ikea!!

@MrsEG - scan date tomorrow! How are you feeling? I’m quite excited for it but I’m sure I’ll be nervous by tomorrow.
Sorry you’re having your own share of the family drama; I hope you’re ok.

@LokiCat - it’s great that they price matched you! Isn’t the Ocarro lovely?
Happy 16 weeks!

@Larrydavid - I’m so pleased you’re taking it a bit easier and the scan went well for you 😊

@purplefig - I hope your sleeping keeps going well, sounds like you’ve been through a lot to find a solution!

@thumper59 - how exciting!! Good luck to you and your favourable cervix (made me chuckle!)

purplefig · 05/11/2019 14:04

@thumper59 oh my god how exciting!!!! I'm literally sat here beaming for you...doesn't sound like you'll have to wait long now 🙌🏻

@MrsEG absolutely hilarious!! Would love a recliner hospital bed for third trimester too 🤣 that's a reasonable request right?!

@cupcakesandglitter do you know what has worked wonders for my getting to sleep? Breathing in for 4 seconds and out for 8. Focusing on that somehow switches off my brain and I've been getting to sleep so easily since! Still annoying waking up, but less horrid knowing I can get back to sleep quickly. FWIW I've also had itchy boobs and ligament stomach pains - both normal (if not annoying). Enjoy the fireworks tonight!!

@MrsR16 oh that doesn't sound fun -hope your home time isn't too long away! id deffo start reducing volunteering etc. duties of you're feeling overstretched.

@PippaPug thank you - the stretching is great for my back. Hope you sleep better tonight.

MrsEG · 05/11/2019 15:12

@cupcakesandglitter The state of my heartburn, they must both be growing beards in there!! I used to love a scalding hot bath too, I didn’t actually have a bath until about 18 weeks! But I’ve managed to get on board with warm baths as they really are very soothing!

@ELW85 Sorry to hear work is so crazy! I’m looking forward to the scan at the moment; mum is coming to this one and she’s delirious with excitement. I’m sure I’ll be a pack of nerves going to bed! But I’ve been so busy this week it’s kinda crept up on me, which is good! What time is yours at?

@purplefig I think a recliner bed is a totally reasonable request!!

Have just had to leave work early, simply because I’m tired. What a wuss. A sofa nap awaits me!! Have lovely evenings all x

OP posts:
ELW85 · 05/11/2019 16:53

@MrsEG - soda naps are the best! I would have left early if I could have.
Stuck on a call and think I will be for a while.
Scan is 1.30 and then we have a consultant appointment afterwards.
I think we’re still low risk, but I had a couple of biopsies a few years ago so they want to see me.
What time is yours? Ah bless your Mum, mine is absolutely crap at being in hospitals in any sort of scenario, so DH is happily coming with.
I hear you on the bag of nerves thing. You will be absolutely fine, and it’ll be wonderful to see them again 😊

MrsEG · 05/11/2019 20:16

@ELW85 I hope you didn’t get back too late! Ah mine is at 9 tomorrow, not too long to wait now! It’s the start of our growth scans and we know we have at least 3 more so DH said ‘Go on, let your mum have this one’ haha. She’s already called me tonight saying how much she can’t wait - I think she’s going to drive me crazy tomorrow!! Hope all goes well with the consultant too and everything stays low risk :)

OP posts:
ELW85 · 05/11/2019 20:21

@MrsEG - 12h40m to go!!! Ah I didn’t realise you’d have that many but it totally makes sense 😊
It’s lovely that your Mum gets to experience it and lovely of DH to suggest it.
How are you feeling with your PGP? I hope the dog is ok too. Our bunnies are terrified with the fireworks tonight.

MrsEG · 05/11/2019 20:36

@ELW85 It's awful, painful everywhere today :( I'm going to speak to the consultant about it tomorrow. It just kinda feels like everything hurts!
Oh the poor bunnies. The dog was in such a sore between 5-7 I was so worried but he seems to have settled a bit now (we have him his medicine). He's far from happy and is like my shadow but he's lay down now and is a bit more chilled out. Neighbours 2 doors down decided to have a display in their garden 😣
Enjoy tomorrow! It's such a fab scan the 20-week one, so detailed. I loved it!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 05/11/2019 21:30

@MrsEG - oh no, I’m so sorry to hear about the pain. Hopefully the consultant has some advice for you. I’m sure they will have 😊
Poor doggo! It’s awful when you see them distressed.
Not sure how the babies will sleep through it all next year!

I hope you have a wonderful time tomorrow at your scan - you’ll have to update us afterwards 😊

MrsR16 · 05/11/2019 22:27

@cupcakesandglitter sounds like you've had a productive time sorting out the spare room!

@thumper59 good luck, sweetie!!!

@MrsEG that was me with the chewable Gaviscon! I can't go anywhere without the stuff at the moment 😂 I hope you're feeling better and I'm glad you're taking some time for you. You're not a wuss at all! Growing humans is hard work!!

@purplefig I finish at half 5, so it feels like a very long day! But it's over and I'm now home from volunteering 😊 having a bounce on my ball before thinking about bed!

PippaPug · 06/11/2019 05:14

Why is it when DH something goes wrong?!
Went to the bathroom at 4.30, started walking back and slipped in a pile of water....took me a moment to think why there was water on the floor....and the bathroom radiator is leaking 😩 all the tools are in the shed and I really don’t want to go outside and find what I’m looking for so I’m now laying in bed worrying about the radiator 🙄 hope everyone else is sleeping!

PippaPug · 06/11/2019 05:40

*Why is it when DH is away 🙄

MrsR16 · 06/11/2019 08:43

@PippaPug oh hun that does not sounds much fun! I'm hopeless with stuff like that 😕 hope you're able to get it sorted soon! Xx

purplefig · 06/11/2019 08:44

@PippaPug oh poor you - did you hurt yourself? Can you get someone around to help with the radiator?

@MrsR16 oh that is a long day with volunteering tacked on the end. Will you scale back at some point?

@ELW85 enjoy the scan! I loved the 20 week one - everything is so detailed. Hope your consultant appointment goes well too.

@MrsEG you are most definitely not a wuss - you're growing two humans!!! Enjoy the scan today, hope your super enthusiastic mum behaves 🤣❤️

I slept really well after yoga last night. Just received a fun text stating they've got my maternity allowance form and they'll let me know their decision - so, if I'll get any maternity pay - in 14 weeks. Which is my due date. 🙃🙃🙃

Larrydavid · 06/11/2019 08:45

Morning! How is it only Wednesday?? This week feels so long already! I have a busy day ahead - I have a couple of podcasts to produce but I can do this from my sofa which makes me happy! My midwife appointment went well though he asked lots about the birth and I've honestly not thought that far ahead yet. He's also referred me to an obstetrician to get checked over because I'd had a history of abnormal smears (and procedures) and he wants to check I don't have a weak cervix. Anyone else had this?

@Fivebyfive2 thank you! You must be getting close now - are you excited?

@LokiCat Your shopping trip sounds brilliantly successful! Bargain! How did you make your mind up on what models to buy though? Awesome that you're friend is expecting too!

@MrsEG Good luck with your scan today! I've not watched wildlife series but I cried at greys anatomy yesterday so there's no hope for me! 😂 For what's its worth - I think it's right that you put your foot down about your in laws. That time is about you and your new little family.

@purplefig I've literally screengrabbed your sleep set up - just in case!

@Tropicana1 Good to know about you measuring behind. The private scan place just said to go by their dates if I was going in for the harmony test. My midwife said to stick to my original dates. Hope you're well!

@thumper59 Good luck lovely. Hope it's going well!

@Lemonysherbet How are you feeling? Any better?

@ELW85 Those 4am starts sound brutal! How are you doing it superwoman? Hope you get some well deserved rest soon!

@Anny27 Big love to you. So sorry it didn't work out this time. Take care of yourself.

Lemonysherbet · 06/11/2019 11:13

Hey @Larrydavid

Hiding in the work toilets throwing up so not so good. I thought it had eased off as I only threw up once yesterday but it's back with a vengeance today. How are you feeling?

I'm a bit rubbish at posting in here but I do read through the posts, too tired to reply most of the time!
