@ELW85 muscle twinges is exactly what mine felt like! Though I think I used the word spasm Grin. They still feel like that tbh, just stronger and more obviously kicks if that makes any sense?

@cupcakesandglitter I'm 25+1 today! Where are you at now? Re: your anxiety, sorry to hear about the midwife's response. Have you got a history of anxiety or has it been since starting TTC? Just wondering if it's the latter you might not have had much help for it and I wonder if something like CBT could be useful?

@MrsEG I'm so pleased physio went well and even though it's a shame they can't improve it, I imagine it's reassuring just having it confirmed and feeling like you're in capable hands? How often will you see her? Ohh good point about hunting down seasonal items...I've been far too lazy for that Grin

@thumper59 sorry to hear you're feeling rotten - I think taking it super easy is very wise. Hopefully it'll all clear up before labour.

@MrsR16 ahahaa hopefully you can manage to stay awake! I was at a gig of his once and a couple got up halfway through to leave and he asked why and they said they had to get the bus home - he had great fun with that Grin

My midwife appointment was fab - she measured the bump and it's all measuring bang on normal (though she said it's very early still). Also got to listen to their heartbeat again, which will never get old.

After that, I've had a bit of a rubbish-y day which I won't bore you all with the details of. Suffice to say, I got an email about a pregnancy yoga class that's happening tonight about 5 mins from my house and you better believe I signed up in an instant. I am in desperate need of some zen Grin. Have a lovely evening all and enjoy bake off all you baking nutters! I hope you've all stocked up on an excellent cake selection... x

purplefig · 29/10/2019 16:54

@ELW85 also FWIW, try and not stress about detecting any sort of a pattern yet (easier said than done, I know). They're still pretty small and if they move just a bit it can mean you won't feel them as much. My midwife said between about now (25 weeks) and 28 weeks is when a pattern is likely to establish/

ELW85 · 29/10/2019 17:00

@Purplefig - thank you that is really helpful and reassuring!
It’s good to know that patterns aren’t really a thing this early on. I think when I read other's experiences and they describe it as feeling like being on a rollercoaster, I really can’t relate but everyone is different I guess 😊

I’m so pleased your MW appointment went well, and that the measurements are on track! Enjoy your zen and cakes; you definitely deserve them! X

thumper59 · 29/10/2019 20:20

@MrsR16 he is I think he's pretty settled for the long haul! Hope your feeling ok!

@cupcakesandglitter Thankyou, I did! Although my brain has much more energy then my body today. I'm hoping this cold starts to go tomorrow. I hope your feeling better, pregnancy is a nightmare time for anxiety! I am certain everything will be fine though 🙂

@MrsEG I know, I think he'll go over though! He'll be laid back like his father 🙄 just my luck! Not punctual like me! Haha

@purplefig hope you enjoy yoga! Glad you had a great midwife app too.

@ELW85 try not to worry about movements! My little guy has never had any particular pattern either so don't worry if one doesn't develop x

Tropicana1 · 29/10/2019 22:59

@MrsEG that's amazing about your win! Your luck must be in definitely buy that lottery ticket! Glad the physio appointment went well.

@purplefig oh me too with the online food shopping. It's terrible really - I now hate the thought of having to physically shop for food 😂🙈

@ELW85 I'm 30 weeks now and still don't think I have a "pattern" to my movements which my midwife has said is fine! They've just got stronger and more frequent for me.

MrsEG · 30/10/2019 07:47

@ELW85 I don’t think you feel any pattern until 26-28 weeks; I’m 23+3 and still don’t feel they’ve settled in to a pattern where I can predict what times they’ll move around. The main thing for me is it has just very steadily gotten stronger over the past few weeks. Remember, some women don’t even feel a first movement until 24 weeks! Every woman and baby will be different. Honestly, try not to worry too much :)
Physio has booked me in next week too but said if I feel I don’t need it I can cancel. So just trying to sort my referral for my health insurance now to get most of the ££ covered!

@purplefig She’d like to see me every week as I still have 13ish weeks to go and have a big bump so she wants to keep a good eye on it. So just hoping my health insurance will cover it now! Sorry to hear you had a rubbish day, really hope the yoga helped!

@thumper59 Are you trying all the old wives tales?? My sister was shovelling dates and pineapple down her throat at 39 weeks like there was no tomorrow!!

@Tropicana1 Ha I know, a Euromillions win would be ideal right about now!! How are you feeling at the moment, have you long before mat leave now?

So what did we think of Bake Off? I was delighted but I’ll give no spoilers just yet!

Question for other dog owners - is your fur ball scared of fireworks? Mine is 4 and they’ve never bothered him before but the last few nights he’s so scared and shakes/shivers - it’s breaking my heart! I don’t know what to do for him; sitting with him with the TV on doesn’t appear to be making any difference :(

OP posts:
thumper59 · 30/10/2019 08:55

@MrsEG I'm just doing loads of bouncing on the ball! Gonna take the dogs for a walk today see if that does anything. I need to get out today starting to get a bit of cabin fever! My dog is petrified of fire works ( and everything else to be honest) we wrap him in a blanket and keep him close but I am considering getting him one of those thunder jackets to try?

purplefig · 30/10/2019 09:23

@ELW85 I never got the roller-coaster description either! I think it's a tricky thing to pin down because it probably feels different for everyone and then we're using language to try and put a sensation into words and as it's our first time we have no reference point. But you saying muscle twinges made me think "ah hah!" that is exactly the feeling I had. I don't think it'll be long at all before you're getting more definitive movement.

@thumper59 thanks - yoga was just what I needed! How's your cold today? I hope you're still taking it easy!! I know it's a cliche at this point, but honey and lemon water is fab for a sore throat.

@MrsEG I think every week sounds really sensible, as the pain you were describing sounds pretty bloody awful. Fingers crossed your insurance cough up! And thanks for the well wishes - yoga, as always in my experience, helped tremendously. I slept so well afterwards! Sorry to hear about your pup. Could you create a 'den' of sorts that he can retreat to if he gets scared? I'm just thinking, when we first got ours we crate trained him and draped a big throw over his crate (supposed to make them feel safe and secure) and that used to be where he'd head if wanted some peace and quiet. Could be worth a go if you've got a crate lying around?

I feel much brighter after a lovely yoga class last night and a decent sleep. For anyone interested in prenatal yoga, it's worth seeing if NCT run any in your area. I had no idea about this class and it's literally down the road from me! It's only £6 a session, it's very chatty and my teacher talked lots about birth etc. throughout. Much more relaxed than the ones I go to at the yoga studio. She also handed out jaffa cakes at the end, so it's safe to say I'll be back.

Hope everyone's spirits are up in this dreary weather we're having. The all-day grey skies aren't helping much with the evening darkness I must say! God how British...x

thumper59 · 30/10/2019 09:32

@purplefig oh I'm glad you enjoyed it it sounds fab! I never even thought of looking for local classes etc. Defo gonna get more involved with baby classes in the area once he's here though. Jaffa cakes at the end would of been the confirmation for me, they're my fave! It's actually a nice day here today. My cold feels a lot better Thankyou I'm just super bunged up today, but hoping that's it on the way out! Oo I'll try the honey lemon and water x

ELW85 · 30/10/2019 09:57

Morning all!

I’m catching up on GBBO tonight and might stop by M&S tonight to get some cakes for the occasion!

@thumper59 @Tropicana1 @MrsEG @purplefig - thank you all for the reassurance and sharing your own experiences with movements.
I feel loads better now, as it does seem that’s what they were.
I didn’t feel him as much yesterday or today (yet) but he’s probably just moved around 😊
I’d love for it to be a linear progression in just getting stronger and more frequent but I’m sure I’m on the verge of it!

@MrsEG - it’s great you’ve got another session booked in, but definitely get the referral sorted, those things are so pricey!

Happy Hump Day everyone! Nearly there...the weekend is in sight 😂 although I figured out I have around 77 working days left and there is no plan to replace me or to get my workload handed off!

We’ve got a Diwali celebration at work today which will be lovely - I hope you all have wonderful days!

MrsR16 · 30/10/2019 13:47

@cupcakesandglitter I hope you're able to put yourself in a more positive place today, lovely!

@MrsEG I'd be taking that advice and acting on it as much as possible!! I spoiled Bake Off for myself - I dared to go on social media when I got home... Facebook, boom! There we go haha! I'll watch it tonight when I get home though. My dog's thankfully ok with fireworks... I've seen wonders worked with long scarves wrapped around pooches in a certain way though! Your poor husky though 😕

@purplefig I managed to stay awake! Now regretting going out, as I'm falling asleep at my desk... 😂 one of the first things he spotted was 2 lots of 2 empty seats in the front row - he kept on about it nearly the entire set! Was hilarious! Great to see bump is measuring where it should be!

@thumper59 oh bless ya, can't be easy now! I'm doing ok, bloody knackered today but it's my own fault haha 😂

@ELW85 77 working days! Not long at all really! Frustrating that work haven't sorted their lives out yet... mine told me ages ago that there'd be a person in temporarily to cover my stuff, but that's now not happening and my colleagues are super worried! 😂

ELW85 · 30/10/2019 14:44

@MrsR16 - I don’t think my work are going to get cover but they REALLY need to!
I also made the mistake of going on FB and had it ruined for me via some passive aggressive spoiler. Just the winners name with hearts around it. Great. Never mind!

purplefig · 30/10/2019 15:14

@thumper59 Yes I hadn't a clue what baby bits were on locally, but a few friends of mine (who don't live locally) were saying it's a good idea to research now what it is on, so once the baby is here you've got a good idea of what's on. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and that you've got a nice day where you live - it has been grey and rainy all bloody day long here!

@ELW85 sorry someone spoiled it for you, you 100000% need to stop by M&S for cakes now!! Tbh, that is legit the only reason I used to watch Bake Off Grin. 77 working days is so not long! When are you planning on going on mat leave? I can't make my mind up and I reaaaally need to as I've got to apply for Mat allowance this weekend and they need a date. Oh the joys of being your own boss Grin

@MrsR16 Oh I do love a bit of live comedy, I'd take it over a gig any day of the week. Glad you had fun, even if you're paying for it now.

I hope everyone's days are ticking along nicely? We've got a leak in our kitchen roof, joy of joys - so just trying to sort someone to come out and take a look. Fingers crossed it's not astronomically expensive to fix! Need another yoga class (and some jaffa cakes) already!! x

MrsEG · 30/10/2019 15:36

@thumper59 I’ve heard about the thunder jackets so may try wrapping him up tonight with a blanket and see how he likes it! Keep bouncing on that ball!

@purplefig He actually has a crate he still sleeps in, he loves it - maybe I’ll try adding some more blankets and a blanket to cover it and see if that works! Glad you had such a good yoga class, £6 is fab, especially with free Jaffa cakes!!

@purplefig @thumper59 re local classes, my sister recommended an app called Hoop. Has all the local baby groups and classes in your area, times, prices etc. She loves it - I’ve got it downloaded ready!

@ELW85 Yeah movements definitley haven’t been linear progression for me! Mine were actually super quiet all day yesterday and then went nuts about 9pm. Today they’re practically wrestling in there. There’s no pattern at all!! Ooh enjoy the Diwali celebrations! Oh how annoying you saw bake off spoilers - definitely still a good watch though! And yes - you’ll need cake!

@MrsR16 There really were bake off spoilers everywhere last night even before the show had ended! The downside to social media!

Hope everyone is doing good today! We’re off to B&Q at 5 for more decorating fun!! It’s such a lovely crisp wintery day here in Manchester today too so taking the dog out in a mo for a walk before the inevitable fireworks start again!!
Oh also, my Cheeky Wipes arrived! They are super cute - I love them!!

Hi all! How's everyone doing? Dex is 5 weeks old now, I can't believe how quickly the time is going. Baby photo below....

@MrsEG I'm so pleased with the bake off result! Was exactly what I was hoping for

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 7!
MrsEG · 30/10/2019 18:07

@stormtrooperjulian Oh he is the most beautiful little boy!! How are you feeling?

OP posts:
MrsH497 · 30/10/2019 18:08

Oh @stormtrooperjulian what a little darling! How are you?

Must say for the most part cyclizine is really helping me (Sunday not so much may never eat macdonalds again!)

If anyone fancies a giggle watch the Met policing London tomorrow one of the officers on it is me!

MrsR16 · 30/10/2019 18:59

@ELW85 spoilers are rubbish aren't they? 😭

@purplefig I made it through today!! Now chilling on the sofa while supervising DH from afar 😂 baby's having a party today too...

@MrsEG I hope doggo enjoyed his walk! 😊

@stormtrooperjulian oh he is just delightful!! So gorgeous 😍 how are you doing?

Tropicana1 · 30/10/2019 19:07

@MrsEG feeling good thanks 😊 not on mat leave until I'm 39 weeks so still 8 and a half more weeks of work for me (all being well!)

I was really pleased with bake off too!! Faaaaar too many ridiculous tears from some on there 🙄

RE fireworks, my old boy was fine until some went off right overhead on walks and now he's not good. We offer a product at work called Sileo, it's an anti anxiety medication that you rub into the gums just before you anticipate fireworks (so on bonfire night) or if there are any, and it really reduces noise anxiety - worth asking your vets if they have it :)

@stormtrooperjulian good to hear things are going well for you! Adorable photo too 😍

Fivebyfive2 · 30/10/2019 20:16

@stormtrooperjulian, what a fab photo! Dex is just adorable 🙂How are you getting on? Xx

@MrsEG, we don't have a dog, but we use a feliway defuser for our cat, I think they do them for dogs? We just make sure there's a few quiet places he can go and tuck himself away for a bit.

Had my flu and whooping cough jabs today. It was a right game though... Was booked in at one surgery, then I mentioned I'd had a flu jab in Feb (from when I was pregnant before) but mw told me I needed the new one... Well!! She said she didn't think I could have it. Ended up talking to a Dr, who said it was fine. She STILL wouldn't do it and booked me at another surgery so another nurse would do it?! So I ended up travelling across town to the other surgery to get both jabs done!! The nurse who did them couldn't believe it! Aaaaagh 🤯 Ah well, all done now I guess!

Bake Off... I'm happy with the result, I think the right person won based on the final, but haven't enjoyed it quite as much this year. There haven't been many things where I've thought 'ooo I'd have a go at that' and I still think the combination of Pru and Paul doesn't gel quite right, they're too similar if that makes sense?? I'll still be excited when it comes back though 😀 Might record junior bake off, for Liam!

cupcakesandglitter · 30/10/2019 20:44

Feeling a bit better today Thankyou❤️ @MrsR16 I've mostly slept 😳 my scan is tomorrow so just hoping the day goes quickly until then! How're you? X

Ahh I've still not watched bake off 😭 managed to avoid any spoilers until now 😩

@Fivebyfive2 what a palaver!! That's so unprofessional and unfair for you to have to have travelled so much too! Did she give any reasoning as to why she thought you couldn't have it? X

@ELW85 did you get your cakes?! DH bought me some cookies 🤤 any more movements today? X

Ooh glad you enjoyed yoga @purplefig it's good that you found it relaxing too! My first ever normal yoga session I found really intense and thought prenatal ones might be the same 😳X

@thumper59 I hope he comes soon for you 😃 not long now I'm sure!!! X

@MrsEG not sure if you've got it up in Manc too but here B&Q have 3 for 2 on flooring and paints! x

Ahhhh @stormtrooperjulian how gorgeous is he 🥰 how're you feeling? X

MrsR16 · 30/10/2019 21:07

@cupcakesandglitter sleep is so underrated! It's such a healer, just allowing your body to do whatever it needs to do without you intervening! I'm doing ok, currently having a bounce on my gym ball. Baby feels as though it's dropping! Midwife tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll be told if it has or not 😊

stormtrooperjulian · 30/10/2019 21:12

@MrsEG @MrsH497 @MrsR16 @Fivebyfive2 @cupcakesandglitter I'm doing well thanks! Have recovered nicely from my c section, am looking forward to being cleared to start proper exercise again soon. Dex is doing really well too, feeding well and gaining weight, he's even sleeping pretty well most of the time!

I think there are a couple of babies due in the next few weeks? Have I missed any baby news?

BostonFern · 30/10/2019 22:10

Thanks for all the well wishes for the scan. Baby is doing well, measuring about two weeks ahead still, and is well engaged. Got two weeks to see if labour starts, then another scan at 38 weeks so we can discuss possible induction with the consultant. Also have another GTT test tomorrow 😬
@MrsR16 it was lovely to have the scan and know all is well, unfortunately I didn't see that much of the scan as the screen used to show parents to be was broken! The sonographer showed me the heart beating away on his screen as soon the scan started, but then had to turn it in his direction to do the other measurements. We've got another scan in just under two weeks if baby hasn't arrived by then, so either way not long until we see him again ☺️

@purplefig I can't believe how good the oven looks now, it would have taken me ages to get it that clean (and I'd probably still be stuck on the floor 😂). Glad to hear your midwife appointment went well.

@cupcakesandglitter sorry to hear your anxiety is high too, and that your midwife wasn't that helpful. You're not Birmingham based are you? If so, I can recommend a charity that helps mums to be and new mums with anxiety and mental health. I hope your scan goes well tomorrow

@MrsEG that sounds like a great physio appointment!

@thumper59 I hope you're feeling better today

@ELW85 Hope you enjoyed the Diwali celebrations

@stormtrooperjulian he is so cute!

cupcakesandglitter · 30/10/2019 22:34

@MrsR16 definitely, I'm getting exhausted again so the naps are back 😂 ahh how exciting!! Will be amazing if the MW confirms tomorrow! X

@stormtrooperjulian that's amazing! Glad you've healed well - is it around 6 weeks or so post section that you can start exercising? (I may have completely made that up 😂) glad he's sleeping well too x

@BostonFern I am in Birmingham! I have a feeling me you and five are at the same hospital for some reason? If you wouldn't mind letting me know about that charity that'd be great 🥰 Ahhhh you're so close now, are you hoping labour will start before the next scan? X
