Does anyone know why the formatting goes bold in the app sometimes?! I didn't use any asterisks in that last post so I can't work it out 🤷🏼‍♀️

MrsEG · 28/10/2019 15:21

@Anny27 For me, sadly it wasn’t positive but my situation at that time was very different as all that was seen was a gestational sac. One thing I would really recommend if you can is get yourself signed off work (and GP worth their salts will do this) and just relax, stay calm and stay away from Google - I drove myself mad googling every possible outcome. I really do hope and pray that your dates are just a bit out and all will be okay. Please look after yourself these next few weeks x

@Tropicana1 Ha I love ‘bumpkins’! We’re getting the Cybex seats too :)

@BostonFern I’m still shattered!! Enjoy your day with DP! I’m having the exact same argument with my husband at the mo - he says as I’ve had my jab he doesn’t need to worry and me telling him flu season is until March, and the babies will probably be here end of Jan... he’s just one of these ‘but I’ve never had flu so I’ll be fine’ types!

@purplefig It’s a minefield, car seats are where I genuinely struggled the most! Definitely just work it out around your own lifestyle - am I right in remembering you plan on baby wearing a lot too? So another reason you’d probably carry a car seat a lot less. Pelvic pain is awful - I’m really looking forward to the physio tomorrow now! We’ve gone for a backpack changing bag - it arrived the other day (took ages though!) and I love it. It’s got so many pockets and compartments, and insulted pockets for milk bottles etc. How kind of your in-laws getting you the pram! Oh, also - my formatting goes mad in the app too and I have no clue why!!

Happy Monday all! I have my maternity catch up at work tomorrow with HR and for some reason I’m nervous about it! I haven’t a clue why. I think I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed about leaving, being off work - I’ve worked since I was 15! Starting to worry a bit about managing all the finances etc. I’m sure it’s all going to be fine but I feel all wobbly about it!

Thanks everyone for your kind words! Next scan is scheduled for this Friday so not too long to wait 🙌

@MrsEG it gives me hope knowing that you have been through the same but now have those gorgeous boys on the way! Xxx

purplefig · 28/10/2019 16:51

@MrsEG the formatting thing is bizarre - as now I'm on the PC and it looks totally normal?! Urghh I give up trying! Sorry about your pelvic pain, I really am keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow's appointment is super helpful and you come out feeling like a new (or at the very least, less hobble-y) woman. Ooo your backpack sounds fab - that's exactly the sort of thing I'm going for. FWIW, I think it's totally normal to have a wobble about work stuff / going off on mat leave. I had a similar wobble today when I was reading up on the mat allowance application (you have to post it...I mean...it's 2019?!). You might feel better after a chat through with HR? And I'm selfishly glad it's not just me that is having a mare with car seats Grin . I am deffo planning to do lots of baby wearing (the baby might have other ideas of course!), plus we just that have the one car and live 2 mins from town so I just can't see us using the car seat on anywhere near a daily basis.

@Anny27 I'm so glad you've got a scan scheduled for this week, the less waiting the better. I really, really hope it's amazing news and your dates are off.

Very quiet on here today! I hope everyone is well and Monday got off to a good start all around. I've got my 25 week midwife appointment tomorrow...I'm feelingly oddly nervous about it. I googled it and apparently they start measuring at this one, so I'm also intrigued. x

MrsEG · 28/10/2019 17:50

@Anny27 There definitely is. I really am hoping for good news for you this week xx

@purplefig Who posts things these days?! I keep forgetting to post my consent form to donate my placenta for the exact same reason - I don’t own stamps!! I’ll try and find the link to the bag we got as I really do love it now it’s here! Ooh enjoy the measuring - as far as my sister tells me it’s old school with a measuring tape haha! Hope it all goes well. Yeah, If you won’t be in the car much it really isn’t worth it - with two, I’ll be using mine a lot once DH goes back to work!

Have to share my exciting news - entered a competition to win the new Medela breast pump - and won! Over the moon - may get myself a lotto ticket later haha!

OP posts:
purplefig · 28/10/2019 18:14

@MrsEG ooo cool idea about donating your placenta. For a hot minute I was legit considering getting my encapsulated and eating it Grin but once I read the scientific literature on it...quickly changed my mind. Ooo do send me the bag link if you can find it. And a HUGE congratulations on your epic win! That must feel amazing! Grin

Is anyone else startled by the dark night?! I thought there was more of a transition period but nope, 5pm, BOOM, darkness. Glad I took the dog out for his walk at lunch. x

MrsEG · 28/10/2019 18:20

@purplefig I got this one - there’s loads like it online though! I found a discount code and got it for about £40: eloiseandlolo.com/products/blake?variant=27911812055063
Ha! I do know of one person who had placenta capsules and regretted it - in her own words she felt no different (especially as all she did was blitz them in smoothies!) I’m donating both of mine. It’s obviously a totally personal choice! But I definitely don’t want them haha! I know, can’t believe it about the pump - it’s their brand new one too! My big hope is to pump quite a lot to try and give them both breast milk without them constantly on the boob so it’ll be a godsend!
Yep - totally not feeling this dark at all - I need to do some food shopping but all I wanna do now is go to bed!

OP posts:
purplefig · 28/10/2019 18:29

@MrsEG if there was scientific evidence to back up the claims, I'd for sure take them! But there's not (they're doing a large, randomized, placebo controlled trial at University of Nevada atm). I didn't know you could donate though, I'll deffo do that. When I buy my book of stamps. Wow that changing bag looks the business! And it fits a laptop!! If anything I'd worry it'd be too big for me as I'm not even 5'1 Grin..too much space is a nice problem to have. Ooo that sounds like a great plan for feeding the twins, and that pump comes so highly recommended. What a nice bonus to this dark, dreary Monday evening. I must admit, I have fallen 100000% prey to online food shopping and never looked back.

MrsH497 · 28/10/2019 19:03

You ladies will understand my happiness at finishing a meal (almost!) for first time in weeks!!

Found out 2 friends are expecting a few weeks before me which is just so exciting!

TrashKitten10 · 28/10/2019 22:05

@MrsR16 @ELW85 @purplefig @MrsEG @PippaPug @Tropicana1 @BostonFern

Thanks for your messages. So far baby is being a stubborn little madam and after a pessary and tablet not much progress has been made. She's back to back and over a week before her due date so I think she's quite happy just staying put for the time being. I've had another tablet in and they're going to review things in the morning. I've not really been contracting but I've had a heck of a lot of backache which has been pretty hard going in itself. DH has been a saint, reassuring me and holding a bowl whilst I cried and vomited hanging over the side of the bath (don't worry positive birthers, that was a low point in an otherwise okay day) Right now I'm feeling a lot more comfortable thanks to TENS, paracetamol and oramorph so hoping to get a good nights sleep and see what tomorrow brings :)

@Anny27 So sorry to hear your news and I hope that even if this time is not meant to be that you will soon get your time Thanks

@LindyMoe I think naturally we tend to feel more drawn perhaps towards our own gender, with men thinking they 'get' boys so want a boy and vice versa. Any feelings like that will disappear when baby arrives though, if not long before. As an early years teacher I can safely say there's no easier or better option haha. So much comes down to how we raise children anyway and the stereotypes of boisterous boys and well behaved girls only apply if we let them.

Lemonysherbet · 28/10/2019 22:18

Hey all,

Playing catch up, I always feel so far behind

@bostonfern sorry to hear your anxiety has been bad. Talking through the birth sounds like a good idea, planning how these things are expected to go always seems to help me. I too suffer quite badly and am ready trying to keep on top of it. Told my new boss about the pregnancy and anxiety in one whack so he can't be alarmed if I get signed off if he doesn't support me. Trying to protect baby but hopefully it will be a positive thing I've done and prevent anything. Has yours peaked at certain times during the pregnancy?

@mrseg your Halloween costume is fantastic!!! I hope you won a prize!

@larrydavid how are you getting on?

@trashkitten10 how did the induction go?

@anny27 I hope you're ok, sending you all the love and praying for you

Sorry if I've missed anyone. I probably have. Struggling to stay awake, this hour has screwed me over!

We told code family at the weekend and it's actually freaked me out. I think I'll be ok after the 12 week scan but I know I'm going to find it so overwhelming telling people.

I also told my boss last week and had a catch up with him today and it was interesting. Made me feel silly for telling him at "oh, only 9 weeks, that's early". I've been late due to sickness so much I couldn't keep lying but he's just not very tactile.

I've also had not so fun javelin fanny today. Really low down random stabby pains when I'm lying still. It's too low to be near baby but with everything else going on I'm just struggling. I'm so tired and wide awake over thinking everything.

Must not ruminate and go to sleep!

Fivebyfive2 · 29/10/2019 07:59

@anny27, I'm so sorry to hear the scan did not go well. It's good you have another one on Friday, I think it's the waiting that is one of the hardest parts. Thinking of you xx

@MrsEG, I love your Halloween costume!! And great news about your raffle win 😀

@TrashKitten10, hope you had a proper sleep and that induction day 2 goes well xx

Hope every one has a nice day! Xx

BostonFern · 29/10/2019 08:05

@purplefig DP managed to escape the flu jab yesterday as they didn't have any walk in appointments, so he's got it next week instead- he looked so pleased with himself 😂

@MrsEG hope your maternity catch up goes well today, I'm sure they'll be really supportive. Congratulations on winning the pump too!

@purplefig hope your appointment goes well today.

@MrsH497 yay for finishing meals!!

@TrashKitten10 glad to hear you were more comfortable last night, hope this morning brings more progress for you.

@Lemonysherbet I think it's a good thing you've been open with work about it, I've always been very open with my line managers about my anxiety, and it has helped. I think mine peaked around week 29, I had a pre-eclampsia and pulmonary embolism scare in the same week, got a horrific virus and had work stress-it was all a bit too much really. Having spoken to the mental health midwife last week she said about week 29 is when baby has a big growth spurt and it's not unusual for mums to suffer as a result. I'm finding it easier to control now, talking to family and health professionals has really helped.

I have my 36 week scan and consultant appointment today, and we're getting the oven cleaned (don't think I could get on the floor to do it now!). Looking forward to the bake off tonight too!

MrsR16 · 29/10/2019 08:55

Morning ladies! Happy Tuesday! I hope you're all doing ok. I have a horrible feeling I'm getting whatever the rest of the office has got - feeling proper icky today! But I'll grin and bear it, as I'm off to see Russell Kane tonight and don't really want to miss it if I can avoid it!

@Anny27 I hope you get a more positive answer on Friday, lovely!

@BostonFern ooh, I bet you're excited at the prospect of seeing little one again!

@MrsH497 eating is always good!! I'm eating little and often because my stomach is too squished up 😂 but I'm so glad you've been able to eat properly!

@MrsEG I do love your bumpkins! 😂 brilliant!

@Lemonysherbet it is overwhelming telling people but it is so exciting too!

@TrashKitten10 fingers crossed things get moving today for you! You tell your young lady that she better not cause any more problems 🤣 keep us updated hun xx

@purplefig I hope today goes well for you! I'm sure everything will be fine.

Sorry if I've missed anyone! I'm sure I have... xxx

purplefig · 29/10/2019 09:04

@MrsH497 oh man, I totally get your happiness at finishing a meal! It's the best isn't it?! I remember the day I realised vegetables no longer repulsed me...what a glorious day that was Grin enjoy!

@TrashKitten10 oh bless her, she's snug as a bug in there! Hopefully your review this morning moves things along.

@Lemonysherbet FWIW I found it much easier telling people once we'd had the scan. Hope you managed to get some good sleep last night.

@BostonFern ahh damnit! I ended up having to go to boots for mine, as when I rang up mid Oct the GP didn't have any slots until mid Nov! Hope the 36 week scan goes well. And I have to say, a professional oven clean is a heavenly thing, truly Grin

@MrsR16 ahhh you'll have an amazing time, I've seen him live a couple of times and he always has me in stitches. Hope you manage to avoid the office bug in the mean time.

I'm off to my midwife appointment in a bit otherwise, no exciting news to report. I will say my pregnancy pillow is pretty dreamy and if anyone is on the edge, I'd really recommend getting one! x

ELW85 · 29/10/2019 09:30

Morning all!

Sorry for the late response; I’ve been wiped out since the weekend’s antics!

@MrsEG @Purplefig - thank you for the reassurance on the movements. Mine feel like muscle twinges but deeper than that, so I’m hoping it’s him, but definitely looking forward to it becoming more apparent in the next week or so!
Good luck for both of your appointments today 😊 I’m sure they’ll go wonderfully!
And @MrsEG - congratulations on the win! I don’t think I’ve won a competition since I was 16!

@BostonFern - good luck for your scan and appointment today! I’ll be fine with GBBO so long as Alice doesn’t win. I just think she should have been gone forever ago so she annoys me!

@Lemonysherbet - I got really nervous about telling people too but it was more to do with my anxiety about something going wrong. It’s definitely overwhelming but for some reason once I’d told work, I felt loads better. I’m sure they’ll be more supportive as time goes on!

@Trashkitten10 - I can’t believe she’s still refusing, haha! Hopefully today is the day!

@Anny27 - I’ll keep everything crossed for you for Friday. I totally agree with @MrsEG - google is not helpful at times, and if you need some time to yourself, make sure you take it.

cupcakesandglitter · 29/10/2019 09:55

Good morning ladies - sorry for disappearing again, my anxiety is through the roof and the midwife basically told me to "just relax" 😡 going to book a scan for a couple of days time to put my mind at ease.

@ELW85 Alice really annoys me too 😂 no idea why but she has from the beginning!

Ooh @purplefig how many weeks are you now? Also with you on the dark! It's like someone flicks a switch and all of a sudden it's dark and cold!

Oh no @MrsR16 I hope you don't catch it ☹️ enjoy seeing him though! He's brilliant 😂

@BostonFern 36 weeks?! How fast has that gone!! I'm with you re the anxiety - it's absolutely horrible, sorry you're feeling it too 😫

@Lemonysherbet I told my boss early too - don't worry about it, it's better that he knows and is more understanding then x

Bless her @TrashKitten10 I hope things progress nicely for you and your Labour goes smoothly! Eagerly awaiting updates 😃

@MrsH497 congrats on the meal, I hope you enjoyed every bite!!

@MrsEG you looked incredible in your little pumpkin outfit, so cute 😭🥰

@Anny27 hoping you get positive news on Friday and all is okay ❤️

ELW85 · 29/10/2019 10:14

@cupcakesandglitter - isn’t she beyond irritating?!?
So sorry to hear your anxiety has ramped up. Great advice from the MW though; you just be kind to yourself and keep us informed on the scan - I’m sure it’ll be wonderful and our your mind to rest!

MrsEG · 29/10/2019 10:30

Morning ladies!

I had my physio appt this morning and it was glorious! I definitely have PGP but she did lots of massage and thinks the root cause is my sacroiliac joint so I had a lovely long massage and have lots of exercises to do and not do at home. She said it won’t get better, but we’ll be working on making sure it gets no worse :)

@purplefig it’s such a fab changing bag! I’m such an over-packer so I can only imagine what I’ll be like leaving the house with twins - there’ll be all but the kitchen sink in there!! I do usually love an online food shop but this time of year I like hunting down all the seasonal stuff in the shops! Bought a few pumpkins last night!

@MrsH497 Glad to hear you’ve managed a meal!

@TrashKitten10 Oh I hope she gets a wriggle on for you today! I’ll keep my fingers crossed :)

@Lemonysherbet We told family at 8 weeks this time and it made me feel sick; you’ll feel much better after the 12 week scan. I realise now why people wait til then to let everyone know! And don’t worry, the fanny daggers are perfectly normal - I get them all the time. Unpleasant, but normal!!

@Fivebyfive2 Thanks lovely, can’t wait to get it in the post now! The things we get excited about these days - breast pumps haha! Hope you’re doing good!

@BostonFern My mat leave catch up has been moved to Friday now! Hope all goes really well with the consultant today. I’m so excited for Bake Off! Totally rooting for David! Hoping he pulls it out of the bag!

@MrsR16 Sorry you’re not feeling too well - lots of water and rest and see if you can keep it at bay!!

@ELW85 They really do kinda suddenly get really strong, and it can take up to 24 weeks I believe. I would honestly say I found 16 weeks to now the weirdest ‘in limbo’ phase as you’re waiting to feel things and just willing it to happen so much! Was that it?! Was it gas?!! My sister would tell me I was mad and ‘just wait til the third tri when they’re booting you in the ribs!’

@cupcakesandglitter That’s an awful response from your midwife re: anxiety. Could you talk to your GP about it instead?

OP posts:
thumper59 · 29/10/2019 10:37

Good morning ladies! I'll catch up throughout the day...

39+1 today. Still no sign of little man! Was at docs yesterday as didn't sleep a wink the night before had such an awful sore throat and felt crap! It was viral and not bacterial so just got to ride it out, feeling a lot brighter today just extremely bunged up so was glad he hung off for a few days... he can come whenever now though! Just taking it easy today, think I might get a nice bath and wash my hair and have a little pamper today, if I can pluck up the energy.

@MrsEG glad you've got the SPD sorted. It's a pain! At least you should be able to manage it 🙂

ELW85 · 29/10/2019 11:03

@cupcakesandglitter - sorry not sure if my sarcasm of ‘great response from your MW’ translated, but obviously it’s horrendous and we’re all here for you!

MrsR16 · 29/10/2019 12:24

@purplefig I'm excited about seeing him! Just hope I don't fall asleep 😂 looking forward to hearing how your appt goes!

@cupcakesandglitter your midwife doesn't sound overly reassuring! I know from experience that telling people suffering with anxiety to relax is just not helpful! I have every faith that everything is ok, but that doesn't help your brain to realise it, does it? And thanks 😊 I am excited!

@MrsEG ooh, I'm glad to see you've had a great morning! Sucks to have PGP confirmed, but at least you can now manage it 😊 thank you, I'm doing my best to stay away from everyone at the office! Haha! Hard when I'm surrounded by 5 others...

@thumper59 oh goodness, he is just too comfortable in there! I don't blame you for taking some time for you - make the most of it, lovely!

cupcakesandglitter · 29/10/2019 15:14

@ELW85 super irritating 😠 don't worry, the sarcasm came through 😂 scans booked for Thursday so will post an update x

@MrsEG I would but tbh I'm not having much luck with them either for other health problems... tbh I think she was trying to be "positive" reminding me that I've never got this far before, which yes is a plus but that doesn't mean I can just switch my anxiety off! She then told me I "shouldn't have too many scans" - considering EPU gave me one a week I'm not sure where that came from! Think she was basically saying she wouldn't get me a scan 🤷🏻‍♀️ glad you enjoyed your massage though, hopefully you can prevent it from getting worse and enjoy the rest of it relatively pain free!! X

Ahh @thumper59 make the most of it - definitely pamper yourself! You deserve it! X

Honestly @MrsR16 it's the worst thing you can say to someone 😂 I actually told her it felt like I was back TTC again being told to bloody relax! She laughed at me 😩😡

MrsEG · 29/10/2019 15:26

@thumper59 39+1! Not long at all now - any day really!! Come on little one :) Yep so glad someone has finally confirmed it and I’m actually getting some help!

@MrsR16 Yep it’s a weird one, feels so crap to have it confirmed but nice at the same time as some day’s I’d feel like I just needed to suck it up and get on with it, ‘everyone gets uncomfortable’ kinda thing - now I have a professional telling me to put my feet up and rest!! Have fun at Russel Kane :)

@cupcakesandglitter Well that’s rubbish to be honest, with twins I’m being scanned left right and centre! I don’t think it’s ever been longer than 4 weeks between a scan since my first one at 6+5! I do think midwives try and advise against too many private ones just as they can often cause as much anxiety as they solve (I feel so sick before mine) but it’s personal preference. I know everyone is different, but on the days I’m feeling super anxious I just put my phone away, have a bath with lavender and an early night. It sounds like nothing but it seems to help me just de-stress a bit and get a half decent nights sleep :)

OP posts:
ELW85 · 29/10/2019 16:11

@cupcakesandglitter - I’m just sorry you’re not getting much support from her. Anxiety is awful to deal with, and if it was as simple as ‘relax’ nobody would have it! X

@MrsEG - I’m so pleased your physio went well! Are you going back or just doing the exercises at home?
You’re right about movement limbo! Yesterday I thought I felt him so much but not as strongly today so I’m doubting yesterday now.
I’m sure it’ll all even out and get consistent soon 😊
I just feel like it’s one worry to another!
