@LokiCat glad you're feeling better! I'd definitely speak to your midwife about any concerns. Haha thanks, I work from home and can confirm these slippers are so good!!

@MrsEG Oh deffo give it a listen in that case. I think we would all benefit from a bit more 'permission' to chill out and be in awe at what's going on in there! Sorry about the stir fry disappointment...though your Sri Lankan curry sounds epic! We've got stew leftovers today and then I'm trying a slow cooker veggie korma (I know, I know, it's an embarrassing curry...) Grin.

@MrsR16 9 weeks today it's Christmas?!!?!?! WHAAAAT?!!?!? Oh my goodness I need to get organised!!

@Tropicana1 thanks lovely!

How's everyone doing today? I had a research spiral panic last night and consequentially slept dreadfully and was up three times (I thought this was supposed to happen once the baby was here?!). I just cannot get comfortable sleeping on my sides, it makes my back so achy the next day. I'm going to order a huge big pregnancy pillow - let me know if you've got any recommendations. x

purplefig · 23/10/2019 09:17

@PippaPug oops missed your post on the next page! How exciting - definitely sounds like baby movements Grin

MrsEG · 23/10/2019 10:31

@MrsR16 ahh your due date is so close now! I hope baby comes bang on time so you’re nice and settled for Xmas haha! My DH was born on Xmas day after keeping his mum waiting - she still gets on at him for ruining her Christmas dinner that day haha!

@PippaPug Ah how exciting is it when you feel them move! Good luck tomorrow :)

@purplefig I’m living off curries at the moment! Finding it an easy way to make filling meals with veggies involved. The old days of salads are just gone for me these days! Sorry you had such a rubbish sleep - I have a U-shaped pillow and it’s good, takes up 3/4 of the bed but needs must!

Hope everyone is doing well! My pelvis is aching something terrible today. Work is a bit crazy too and all I really want to do is stay in bed. I have yoga tonight though which I so look forward to on my weds evenings! Really hoping the newbie from last week who is also expecting twins is there again (definitely planning on forcing her to be my mat leave friend!) It’s a glorious day here in Manchester today too so will try and head on a walk at lunchtime.

MrsR16 · 23/10/2019 13:18

@Tropicana1 you feel free! I just thought it was so sensible to have a dimmer in there 😊

@PippaPug ooh!! That's exciting! Sounds about right for movement which is awesome!

@purplefig i know, it's so scary how quickly time is flying! I haven't done anything at all for Christmas (but I think I've got a fair excuse hehehe!)

@MrsEG I hope so too! I wouldn't even mind if it turned up early, I just want to be done and home in time for Christmas. Sorry to hear you're struggling with pelvic pain! That's not much fun...

PippaPug · 23/10/2019 13:27

I wrote such a long reply and somehow lost it again 🙄

How is everyone’s Wednesday going?

Tropicana1 · 23/10/2019 13:43

@purplefig I have a dream geanii and find it really comfortable for side sleeping - I have it facing out the bed and then if I turn the other way (into the bed) I use the duvet between my knees to a similar effect if that makes sense - really helps having something between the knees and supporting the bump

@PippaPug yay glad the twins are wriggling around for you!

purplefig · 23/10/2019 15:37

@MrsEG I know what you mean, and curries are just so damn tasty too! I'm basically into anything hearty, flavourful and veggie at the moment. Suffice to say, my slow cooker is working overtime! Thanks for your advice - I've gone for a u-shaped one on Amazon prime...needs must and all! Sorry to hear about your pelvis, I hope yoga helps and your friend-to-be is there.

@MrsR16 the very best excuse! I've got a list of everyone's presents, so just need to head out and pick them up. Beyond that there's not that much to do really, just organise a big food shop and decide what food we're all making. I love my priorities Grin

@Tropicana1 I had heard good things about dream geanii - in the end I filtered Amazon by the top rated product and just ordered that. It's f*ing massive, so I've told DH he'll be on the floor with the dog bahaha.

Having a bit of a rubbish day to be totally honest. Slept so bad last night, my back is sore, I've had a coldsore appear overnight and now what, after a spat of googling, I suspect is 'Jock Itch' in my groin area. What a lovely little cocktail of embarrassing ailments! And to make matters worse, after heading down to the pharmacy and plucking up the courage to inquire, I'm told I can't have anything for it without talking to a doctor first. I know why etc. but I felt like bursting into tears! I also went down a really stupid google rabbit hole last night before bed and am just generally having a good old fashioned freak out. I hope everyone is having a far nicer, less embarrassing day than me. x

MrsEG · 23/10/2019 17:04

@MrsR16 It’s a nuisance. I’m scared it’s pelvic girdle pain to be honest as all the signs are there. Going to call the midwife tomorrow! Ha come on baby don’t be late - maybe try the ‘eating dates’ trick? I have friends who swear that worked for them!

@purplefig Glad you got sorted with a pregnancy pillow! It’ll change your life haha! Oh sorry to hear you’re having such a crap time of it. What wormhole did you fall into, is anything worrying you? I did something very similar as I’m noticing ‘The Damp’ discharge is back, but it had been gone a few weeks - Google managed to terrify me in to thinking my waters were breaking or I had an amniotic leak. Turns out watery discharge is normal and will come and go. I really do hate Google at times.

OP posts:
Tropicana1 · 23/10/2019 17:27

@purplefig ah I saw those giant U shaped amazon ones when I was looking too 😂 they look really comfy though haha and probably will prop you up a bit better - I can still roll onto my back with the dream geanii

Sorry you're having a freak out moment! Bloody google is the worst sometimes

purplefig · 23/10/2019 19:41

@MrsEG oh you know, just started googling sleeping positions / cold sore infections / fungal infections and somehow ended up reading all about the risk of stillbirths. Honestly, I should know better by now. I get The Damp too 🤣 pregnancy is so damn glamorous. Sorry to hear about your suspected pelvic girdle pain - hopefully the midwife can help tomorrow. Do you know if there's anything you/they can do to help it? How was yoga? Twin mum friend in attendance?

@Tropicana1 haha that's the one - sure DH will be less impressed. But tbh, he's probably an inch of sleeping space than be woken by my tossing and turning every five mins!

Thanks both for your kind words. I walked (hobbled) the dog with DH on the beach and that always puts things into perspective. Off for dinner now. Have a lovely evening all x

Fivebyfive2 · 23/10/2019 19:52

Hi all, we've made it over the hump of the week!

@MrsEG, sorry to hear you have pelvic pain. Hope your midwife can suggest something to help. I've had The Damp back since a few weeks ago... Such fun!

@purplefig, is your pillow a big green one?! I only ask because I chose mine from amazon using the same method as you! Dh calls it Nessy 😂

Fun note - I've started setting alarms to remind me to do pelvic floor exercises!

Did you guys see Bake Off?? I can't believe it's the final next week!

MrsR16 · 23/10/2019 21:41

@purplefig sorry to hear you're not having a great day! Food is amazing at Christmas - nothing counts as being bad, right? 😂

@MrsEG oh, I hope it's not PGP - my SIL had that and she was on crutches for months!

@Fivebyfive2 watching Bake Off as I type this! 😊 DH is decorating and I've had half an hour on my gym ball, so am just chilling, watching baby move (sooo active!)

MrsEG · 24/10/2019 07:25

@purplefig Google is the worst! I try my best to stay away from it now. My Mum tells me your own intuition is the only thing to listen to in pregnancy haha! Yoga was good, twin mum to be wasn’t there though - it was much quieter than normal as it’s half term up here.
I’ve no idea what I can do about PGP if it is that - the yoga teacher just said if it is I need a diagnosis ASAP so I can get treatment so hopefully physio helps?

@Fivebyfive2 Ugh The Damp is the worst! It does make me feel better that others have had it back in the second tri too though!! I’m up to speed on Bake Off... David for the win for me, I just really like him! Something tells me it’ll be one of the girls though.

@MrsR16 Crutches is what I’m worried about as I’m only 23 weeks so another 15 to go! But yoga teacher thinks the signs are there especially as my pain is localised to my upper inner thighs and bum, and is so much worse after rest, like things are stiffening up? I’m lay in bed now in a fair amount of pain! How lovely for you that baby is so active!! I wonder if they’ll be the same when here - full of beans!

Happy Thursday ladies! I’m in agony in bed debating a sick day. Think I’ll suck it up and go in though (we’re very thin on the ground this week with half term and people being off). I have a mat leave meeting next week though so plan on mentioning it then and see if I can up my WFH days from 2 to 3 a week. Looking forward to the weekend though - it’s my sisters Halloween party! Fingers crossed I can still just about pour my bump in to my pumpkin dress!!!

TrashKitten10 · 24/10/2019 07:44

Hi all, it's been so long since I posted. I ended up getting signed off work due to pain and felt a bit of a pregnancy failure and didn't want to post about how rubbish I was 🙈 feeling much more positive now though! 38+1 and my lovely low risk pregnancy with planned midwife led water birth has gone slightly to pot. After my fundal measurements had been tracking nicely just under the 50th centile they suddenly shot up and I was referred for a growth scan where my little chunk was measured at 7.5 pounds at 35 weeks! 😳 Only about five weeks ahead of where she should be and over the 98th percentile! Thankfully the GTT results came back negative but as she's still looking to be a solidly weighted baby they've advised early induction and Im booked in for this Saturday, eek! Had some tears over it all but I'm now trying to get into a really positive induction headspace. Hopefully not too much longer until we meet our little chubby cheeked baby ☺️

Hope everyone is okay and I'll try to catch up on the past few posts as I've got no chance of catching up from where I left off haha :)

MrsR16 · 24/10/2019 08:37

@MrsEG oh hun that's not fun at all! Don't overdo it - work would cope!

@TrashKitten10 lovely to hear from you! Sorry to hear you've had such a rough time! But how wonderful you get to meet your little chubber this Saturday! That's so exciting x

ELW85 · 24/10/2019 09:01

Morning all

Sorry I’ve been quiet; work is mental and a migraine claimed my evening yesterday (after a rubbish day bay work!) so I’ve not been good for much.

I also sneezed yesterday and had such a sharp, central pain in my pelvic area I thought I’d ruptured something. I actually struggled to breathe in properly or walk it off but it went away after a couple of minutes. Anyone else had similar?

@Fivebyfive2 - GBBO is irritating me a bit at the moment. Alice should have been gone weeks ago so I’m annoyed she’s in the final.

@purplefig - how are you feeling? Please be kind to yourself! This pregnancy business is tough!

@LokiCat - how are you feeling my dear?

@TrashKitten10 - glad everything is going well for you 😀

Sorry for everything I’ve missed! Desperately trying to catch up between meetings and failing miserably.

MrsEG · 24/10/2019 10:01

@TrashKitten10 Oh hun don’t feel like a pregnancy failure!! It’s bloody hard work and if you need to be signed off then that’s the best thing for you! And how exciting you’ll meet your chunky little baby soon too! One of my best friends was induced recently due to PE - she honestly maintains it was fine and would do it all again. Took a while to get going, but happy healthy baba at the end of it all!

@MrsR16 I’ve come in to work and already regret it! May try and get in with my GP today for a referral (and just to go home!!)

@ELW85 Sounds like ligament pains to me! Some coughs and sneezes used to take my breath away. It’s just the stretching of the uterus :)

OP posts:
purplefig · 24/10/2019 10:05

@Fivebyfive2 it's not - but I think you could order it in a range of colours? How have you found nessy?!

@MrsR16 oh god I'm so heavily invested in Christmas food this year...normally it's not a big part of our day as we're on the go constantly seeing people etc. But this year I fully intend on researching some decent recipes and having a proper feast Grin.

@MrsEG Yeah I think your mum is right there. I actually have a nurse in the family, so why on earth I was on google when I could have just rang them I don't know. All sorted now and feeling much better. Annoying twin mum wasn't there - let's hope it's just a half time scheduling issue!! I did read the earlier you get diagnosed with PGP the better as they can start working on preventative measures now. How're you feeling now? I think I'd have definitely had the day off if I was lying in bed in agony tbf! More WFH days would be fab - remind me when you're off on mat leave again? Ooo a Halloween party sounds like great fun - are you going as Juno?! We're going to a little local spoken word night, always such a laugh and it's spooooookily themed.

@TrashKitten10 fab to hear from you and I'm really sorry to hear you've been having a right old time of it. Glad you're feeling a bit more positive about it all and now it's so, so, sooo not long until you'll get to meet your gorgeous babe. Some lovely positive induction stories here which might help get you in the right frame of mind: thepositivebirthcompany.co.uk/blog/category/induction . Also I'm sure you've already done lots of reading on the process, but this looks like a really great resource: birth-ed.co.uk/blog-1/2018/11/1/10-steps-to-a-positive-induction-birth . OK I'll stop spamming you!

@ELW85 sorry to hear work is super busy (not ideal when you're feeling pooped) and migraines are just the absolute worst. I think I mentioned to someone else a good while back now that a friend of mine is a frequent migraine sufferer and had to come off her meds when pregnant. After talking to her midwife she went on a low dose of aspirin and hasn't had one since. Obviously not trying to give you medical advice over the internet (!!!) but could be worth raising with your midwife? On the sharp pain front, I don't think I've had anything that sounds that painful, but I've certainly had some sharp twinges from time to time. Please don't stress about catching up on here and 'failing', you don't owe anyone anything and the main priority is taking care of yourself. Ok, lecture over Grin.

Thanks for all your kind words yesterday everyone - I'm feeling much better today. I can't remember who said to put the pillow between my knees, but THANK YOU. That made such a difference and I didn't keep waking with a sore back all night. I'm hideously excited today because it's the arrival of my gigantic pregnancy pillow...I will of course keep you all posted!! Hope everyone has a lovely Thursday and catch up with you all later. x

PippaPug · 24/10/2019 10:14

@Purplefig - I wonder if you have the same pillow as me? We have a king size bed and me, DH and the pillow can’t all fit 😂 atm I just sleep with it when he is away with work but he will soon have to move into the nursery and sleep in there!

@ELW85 - I have had a few really painful sneezes, and still do - I think sadly it’s normal!

@TrashKitten10 - Just remember your body is doing a amazing thing, growing a human, your doing amazingly!

@MrsEG - how’s your back and hips today?

Did everyone enjoy the bake off? I have given up on it - it’s just not the same anymore!

@Larrydavid - how are you feeling?

@thumper59 - beautiful little coat, not long now!

How everyone is having a good Thursday, I have the 20 week scan at 2...and I’m feeling all jittery...but I’m hoping it’s fine and I’m being a bit dramatic 😂

MrsH497 · 24/10/2019 10:53

You poor thing @MrsEG hope you're doing ok today

@TrashKitten10 lovely to hear from you exciting that baby will be here soon!

Well I spoke to the gp about the nausea and sickness she was amazing (so much so I cried!) she's signed me off work for 2 weeks and given me anti sickness medication with strict instructions to rest. They've taken a urine sample to make sure I'm not dehydrated.

Worried how work will take the fact I'm off again but got to look after me and baby!

thumper59 · 24/10/2019 13:19

@MrsEG hope your pelvis pain eases. That's been my bug bear since about 26 weeks! @Fivebyfive2 I've Also lived in panty liners with the damp for a good few months now!

@TrashKitten10 aw it is a shame for you that you won't be able to have the birth you'd hoped for but so exciting you could meet her on Saturday!! That's amazing- you are most certainly not a pregnancy failure you've done amazing!!

I keep getting real far behind so sorry if I've not replied to everyone. I had midwife yesterday. Little man is still behaving himself which is great, she just said his head is at a slight angle and it would be better if he moved however they can come easily at the angle he's at, she said to get a birthing ball so I've been bouncing on that yesterday and today! I'm booked in for a sweep on my due date (next Monday) if he hasn't come before then. I'm not feeling any different really, I'm tired out today! But also feeling a bit under the weather with a cold so not much to update with here and I don't think he'll be here this week. Hope your all doing well!

MrsR16 · 24/10/2019 13:30

@MrsEG I hope you've just gone home anyway! It's not worth the hassle when you're pregnant of trying to battle through...

@purplefig and also it'll be the last Christmas you have without baby! Scary thought huh? Better to make the most of it 😊 and eat everything in sight hehe!

@PippaPug I have everything crossed for you! I'm sure it'll be amazing when you see them and know they're doing ok 😊

@MrsH497 I'm so glad you're looking after yourself! Don't worry about work - they'll have to lump it! The most important thing is that you and baby are ok, nothing else matters right now.

@thumper59 great to hear from you! I kept thinking about you wondering if there was any news yet! Sorry to hear you're not feeling great... take time to look after yourself 😊 it'll be the last chance you get!

thumper59 · 24/10/2019 13:38

@MrsR16 I am still here, still waiting 😂 I just end up leaving my phone for a couple of days then when I catch up we have soooo many messages on this group! It's great! Hope your doing well xx

MrsR16 · 24/10/2019 13:45

@thumper59 oh bless ya 😊 yeah I'm doing ok! Baby loves getting into awkward positions at the moment, which can get super uncomfortable... but it's all still wonderful! One of my colleagues had his twins delivered today and we've already had pictures! They're so beautiful and have made me very excited about the fact that I'm going to have one of those soon! 😂 xx

purplefig · 24/10/2019 14:51

@PippaPug I've told DH he'll have about 3 inches to sleep in bahaha. Will keep you all posted once it's arrived! Hope the scan goes well, let us know how you get on. Am I right in thinking you aren't finding out the sex of the babies?

@MrsH497 Ahh she sounds lovely - glad you're feeling better now you've got some respite planned. Hopefully the medication helps too.

@thumper59 ooo you're getting so close now!
