Morning all!

DH surprised me with where we’re going on our mystery December holiday last night - only NYC!!! And we’re going to see Hamilton!
He came home with a massive bunch of flowers and some sourdough (knows me so well) and gave me a NYC quiz to break the news! Cannot wait!

@MrsEG - it’s so lovely to hear how much your movements have come on in such a short space of time!
It’s the one thing I’m anxious about but have also realised that pregnancy tends to be one concern to the next, so I’m fully on board with everything being ok, and it being a natural thought process to have!
I totally get the missing of the Netflix and Dominos to be fair!

@Fivebyfive2 - so happy for you that your appointment went well!

@PippaPug - that’s exactly how I feel! I’d love to be able to hook myself up and have a listen/look, but I’d never get anything else done, haha! When’s your next scan? Sorry, I’ll have seen it and it’ll have gone out of my head!

@LokiCat - I totally get the concern over the latter result as you start comparing yourself.
I did end up having the Harmony test but only because I knew I wouldn’t let it rest in my head.
What my midwife said though, was that the NHS tests use a lot of variables (including postcode for some reason) to try and come up with a 1:x view and to read your results more broadly, and to remember how the NT part of the screening went at 12 weeks.
I hope that gives you some reassurance?
My friend had 1:150 and 1:500 with two of her kids and they were both totally fine 😊
Oh and we’ve gone Ocarro, haha!

@MrsH497 @Larrydavid - sorry you’re both feeling rubbish, but it does get better! Just ride it out to week 15 😀

purplefig · 22/10/2019 09:21

Hi everyone! Sorry for the radio silence - it's been a crazy whirlwind weekend so just catching up. Sorry if I miss anyone!

The wedding was lovely and I am very pleased to report I was still dancing for the last song at midnight. Definitely didn't do a @thumper59 and keep my heels on, they got ditched at 7pm when the photos were done and the dance floor low lighting came on Grin. Feeling pretty good, though utterly exhausted, and am officially over 24 weeks now which is insane. Only 16 weeks left! I'll pop a wedding bump photo up after this message.

@BabySquid I think you're right and a supportive partner can be really helpful in keeping your head screwed on with body image stuff throughout pregnancy. Mine is being incredibly lovely and told me at the wedding I'd never looked more beautiful, so I'm sure I'd struggle if I didn't have his daily positive affirmations.

@LikeTheFruit I think that's the most sensible approach - no point worrying about having to 'bounce back' or lose the 'baby weight' now anyway! Congrats on the New York trip, that sounds incredible - what kind of plans do you have while you're over there?

@MrsEG glad your joints are feeling a bit better! Isn't it incredible seeing them move?! I had exactly the same moment in the bath last night - tried to get it on video and he/she was like: nope! Ooo thanks for the bin tip, I had no idea (you know you're old when that genuinely excites you).

@ELW85 love the classic foil mohwak hairdresser look - always so flattering! How did it going? Feeling frrresh? I'm glad you're not afraid to stand up to your MIL, she sounds like hard work. You're having a mad time with family at the moment!!

@Lemonysherbet congratulations! Isn't it just amazing hearing the heartbeat?!

@Fivebyfive2 I have also started thinking about Christmas - I've made a list of presents to get and I'm going to start looking for some recipe ideas. This year is the first we aren't travelling an insane journey around the UK to see everyone, so I'm really, really, really looking forward to having my first ever (hopefully!) chilled out Christmas at home. Well I say home, we're renting a holiday house 1.5 hours away with some close family, but that is honestly incredibly chilled out compared to our usual festive road trip. Also, FWIW, this is supposed to be a great resource for moving babies around: spinningbabies.com/

@PippaPug Sorry to hear there wasn't much in the way for twins / eco friendly bits at the baby show.

@thumper59 whooaaaaa superwoman! That is a very productive start to your maternity leave Grin has nesting kicked in big time now?!

@MrsH497 oh that sounds horrible, you poor thing. How many weeks are you now? I hope it starts to ease soon for you.

@LokiCat Low risk is a great result! Echoing what everyone else said, your midwife will be able to reassure you at your next appointment. But if you're really worried though I know @ELW85 had further tests and it really put her mind at ease.

@MrsR16 A dimmer switch...now that is inspired!

@enoress19 congratulations! I remember feeling pretty tired on very early on.

@Larrydavid Sorry to hear about your sickness, but yay for bras that fit! I need to go up a size again...grown out of my old new ones already.

Have a fab Tuesday all! x

ELW85 · 22/10/2019 09:28

@purplefig - welcome back! So pleased you had an amazing time at the wedding and good on you for getting the last dance in 😊
Looking forward to the wedding bump photo - I bet you looked amazing!!
So pleased my hair is sorted (roots for days!) but it’s taking some adjusting to go from platinum to highlights 😂
Your Christmas holiday home sounds lovely! We’re having everyone over this year and a stupid part of me is wishing for a peaceful Christmas!!

And you’re totally right, I felt SO much better after my tests. @LokiCat just know you’re have the option of the additional tests, although I’m sure everything will be just fine!

MrsEG · 22/10/2019 10:00

@Larrydavid I’ve been living in crop tops, they’re so comfortable!

@MrsR16 I bet you can’t wait! I am trying not to wish the months away but could also totally tell you exactly how many working weeks I have left haha!

@Lemonysherbet They’re fabulous! So many friends have recommend Cheeky Wipes to me so they were always going to be on my list! What is your relationship with your boss like? I told mine at about 7 weeks as I felt so crap and she was great, and happy to keep it to herself until I was ready to tell the whole office!

@ELW85 Oh what a wonderful surprise! How amazing, New York will be fantastic in December!
Yep I so agree - no sooner have the movements gotten stronger than the worry of ‘but how do I know if they’re both moving?!’ is now creeping in! We can’t win!

@purplefig Glad to hear you had such a fab time! Your Christmas sounds wonderful too. I did manage to get a video yesterday in the end, they were on the move for quite a while! I know, I’m so pleased with my new bin - ours is already arriving next week. The joys of adulthood!!

OP posts:
purplefig · 22/10/2019 10:02

Oh gawwwwd sorry for all the bold - I was on the PC and it always seems to muck up the formatting 🙄

@ELW85 thank you lovely!! Ooo your hair sounds lovely, and highlights last way longer so a very practical choice to boot. Ahhh your Christmas will be amazing! How many weeks will you be? And how many people are you hosting?

So I've just realised you can't really see my bump in the wedding pics!! Attached a less glam side one for bump update purposes 🤣

purplefig · 22/10/2019 10:03

@MrsEG back to our usual cross posting antics 🤣 chuffed you got a video (and a bin 🙌🏻).

MrsEG · 22/10/2019 10:07

@purplefig Fabulous bump! No denying that now - you’ll have M&S cashiers and delivery men asking bizarrely intrusive questions in no time now haha! Yep - three little kicks all in the same place I managed to film - sent it to my sister and she was like I WANT ANOTHER ONE haha!
Also your dress is beautiful!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 22/10/2019 10:23

@purplefig - gorgeous bump (and dress!)
I’ve just realised that I’ll be nearly 28 weeks at Christmas!! 😳
Better check BA’s policy on flying for pregnant women as we’re away from 11-16 December!

@MrsEG - it’s amazing that you got a video! I’m still very much in the: “was that a movement?” Phase! I’m sure it’ll become obvious soon.

LikeTheFruit · 22/10/2019 10:28

@ELW85 Thanks! First time going there! Can't wait! Oh wow you're going too!! Must be the top babymoon destination of choice!!

@LokiCat wow going over Christmas would be amazing. I know I keep checking the weather to know what to pack but it's freezing here just now anyway! All these pregnancy milestones are just one worry after another!

@MrsR16 aww I love dumbo!!! 🐘

@purplefig fairly vague plans at present. Mostly walking around exploring, but if shopping and hopefully a show or a sports game. There's ice hokey on heat where we're staying. Oh, and eating a lot!!

@MrsEG ooh I'll need to check out the cheeky wipes!

I went to a fab antenatal expertises class on Sunday. Called power up. Was a mix of weights and cardio and circuits. Amazing to see how much the girls who were late 3rd trimester were doing. The stairs are really hurting today though 😂😂

thumper59 · 22/10/2019 10:54

@MrsEG aw I'm real glad you got a video! That's exactly what the dogs are like 😂 bless them! They'll have to get used to having me here haha.

@LokiCat they are great results however if you are feeling nervous do ring your midwife!! She'll be able to go through them with you and give you some reassurance. We went with the mamas and papas occaro I can't wait to use it! It's all built at my mum and dads and ready to go

@PippaPug it was great Thankyou I just cleaned up and did a shop really, and walked the dogs! I'm feeling a bit more tired today and my friend is coming round so may have to leave the downstairs to clean until tomorrow! Hope your feeling well!

@enoress19 congratulations! The tiredness is very real! I am struggling with it again now with 2 weeks to go but I had a nice break during the second trimester

@Larrydavid hope your sickness eases , I got some of the bralet type bras from Asda and some from m&s, absolute comfort game changer! Aww the dog guilt is real I hate leaving them 😫

@purplefig the bump looks fabulous!! Congratulations for keeping dancing, heels or no heels! I'm super proud! I don't know if nesting has kicked in really, I'm quite a pain for organising stuff into designated places as it is 😂. But it is making me feel better to have everywhere clean and organised!

cupcakesandglitter · 22/10/2019 11:52

Happy it's only Tuesday ladies 💕

Awww how lovely you got a video @MrsEG that's wonderful 🥰

@thumper59 how're you enjoying your leave? Any more organising today? X

@ELW85 omg how fantastic!! You're gonna have such an amazing Christmas 🎄 enjoy every second!! X

@LikeTheFruit well done on the class! Make sure you make the most out of recovery 😉

@purplefig incredible bump 😭 how cute 🥰

@Fivebyfive2 was it your cot I saw further up?! How cute 😭 do you have much left to do in the nursery? X

@LokiCat id second what everyone else said, if you're feeling anxious then give your midwife a call but honestly they're good results xxx

cupcakesandglitter · 22/10/2019 11:53

Oops strike through fail 🤦🏻‍♀️

MrsR16 · 22/10/2019 12:24

@ELW85 oh wow! What a trip! You lucky thing 😊

@purplefig haha! The dimmer was one of my more brilliant ideas, even if I do say so myself! 😂 it'll be super handy so I can see without blinding myself or said child! You look bloody wonderful both in glam and non-glam!

@MrsEG I'm honestly so excited! There's a couple of people who are continually driving me bananas and I'm so looking forward to not having to deal with their stupidity anymore! One calendar month today is my last day!! 🎉🎉

@LikeTheFruit it's just so cute! And will last them a few years too rather than us having to change because it's too babyish or something 😊 I'm glad your exercise class went well! Not so glad to hear stairs are a struggle today though! Hope you loosen up soon 😊

@thumper59 they say that a sudden burst of energy (like what you sound you had yesterday!) is a good sign that baby won't be long!! I'm so excited for you!

@cupcakesandglitter how are you doing today??

cupcakesandglitter · 22/10/2019 14:29

Thanks for asking @MrsR16 I'm doing okay I guess - sickness has died down (but hasn't gone), same with the headaches so I'm easing back into work thankfully. I'm just super super anxious, I have another four weeks until my 20w scan and I think I'm just struggling to cope with the wait I think. No idea how to do it 😕 how exciting that you've only got a month left!! It'll fly by so fast! Have you got much left to do? X

MrsH497 · 22/10/2019 14:38

Thank you for all the love and support ladies.

@purplefig I'm just over 10 weeks now. I'd had nausea but the sickness has hit me in the face this last week or so. Hopefully it'll improve soon!
Beautiful bump.

Such a lovely day here and I'm stuck in the office wishing it was home time!

purplefig · 22/10/2019 16:46

@MrsEG @ELW85 thank you both - I got it in that huge Coast sale. It's not maternity and I just about managed to squeeze into it...I think if the wedding was one week later I'd have had no chance Grin.

@ELW85 ooo 28 weeks at Christmas, that'll be lovely. You can 100% justifiably rope others into helping you!

@thumper59 haha cheers - I had good fun in the end. Though utterly shattered now Grin. Glad you're getting organised before your arrival, is the nursery all good to go? I remember you mentioning you had some issues with things not turning up etc.

@cupcakesandglitter thanks! Glad your sickness has eased and the headaches aren't as bad. It's a weird old wait between your 16 week midwife appointment and 20 week scan - a whole month of nothing! Can you plan some decent distractions now you're feeling a bit better?

@MrsR16 thanks very much, that's very kind of you. Really, really love the idea of a dimmer switch...that doesn't count as renovation work right?! DH has put a ban on any more major house work for a while Grin.

@MrsH497 I'm sure I read nausea peaks in the latter stages of the first trimester, so hopefully you'll be out of it soon enough. It's so, so rough though - go easy on yourself.

On that note, for anyone that's struggling to feel like they aren't doing enough or perhaps experiencing guilt for wanting to rest a lot more than usual, I really can't recommend this episode of the Deliciously Ella podcast enough. It's an interview with Marina Fogle and it's really reminded me of all that our bodies are doing: deliciouslyella.com/podcast/baby-mills-what-to-expect-when-you-are-expecting/ - might be particularly useful if you're in the 1st tri.

Hope you all have a lovely evening. I've got a red wine veggie stew bubbling away in the slow cooker for later. I love winter food so much! x

thumper59 · 22/10/2019 17:45

@MrsR16 I hope he's not too far off! I'm so ready for him to be here now- however I don't feel like he'll come early!

@purplefig I bet you are! The wedding dancing zapped me for like 2 days! Yep we've got absolutely everything Thankyou, everything he needs and everything he doesn't! We had bother with a company we was getting the Moses basket from but cancelled it and went to mamas and papas and that came last week and is in the living room all ready to go 🙂 just him we are waiting for now!

thumper59 · 22/10/2019 17:46

This was the little coat I managed to resist for a whole week 🙄😂 that really is it now though I'm not gonna look on any baby websites!

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 7!
MrsR16 · 22/10/2019 18:07

@cupcakesandglitter I'm glad things are settling down for you! I always think it's such a kicker when you're doing this amazing thing and growing a human but are then made to feel so awful! I've got so much to do still haha! Just working on the nursery in order to get the house straight! We have baby stuff everywhere... I'll be able to get so much more stuff done when I finish work.

@purplefig definitely doesn't count as major work! My DH fitted it in about 30 seconds flat... haha!

@thumper59 OMG that coat is just adorable!! And you just never know - he'll arrive when he's fully cooked!!

purplefig · 22/10/2019 18:48

@MrsR16 oh wow - I was imagining it'd be a lot more hassle than that! I'm off to google dimmer switches...

@thumper59 ahhh that's fab news, you must be getting super excited now. Also that coat is outrageously cute.

Just in from the dog walk - I can't believe it's getting dark already!! Off to chow down on stew and have a very early night I think. x

LokiCat · 22/10/2019 19:17

Hi all, thanks so much for your kind words. I'll speak to my midwife at the 16 week appointment and if I'm still not reassured then maybe I'll look into private tests. Hopefully all will be okay though.
They do checks for everything at the 20 week scan, as well, don't they?

@MrsEG I know, you are right. I need to focus on the word low risk rather than the numbers! I am feeling better about it today after discussing with DH and my mum.
That's brilliant that you're powering through your baby shopping list! Must be a relief when you're able to tick stuff off. I think we're hoping to start buying stuff from around Black Friday & Christmas. Hopefully the sales will be good!

@enoress19 congratulations! Tiredness was definitely a big symptom for me. I felt so exhausted half way through the day.

@Larrydavid Glad you're feeling better emotionally, but sorry to hear the sickness has now turned up! Hopefully it'll settle down soon.
You can get private tests done, which are supposed to be a lot more accurate as it checks the baby's DNA from what I understand. They're about £350-£400, so can be quite pricy. I think for peace of mind though, sometimes it's worth it. I'm going to see how I feel in the next week or so and then decide.

@MrsR16 ohh that sounds lovely, especially having a Dumbo feature wall behind the cot! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
I bet you can't wait for maternity leave to start. When I have some stressful days I start dreaming about mine! 😂

@ELW85 I do remember when you got the Harmony test a little while ago and actually had you in mind when I mentioned it to DH yesterday. He is a bit reluctant because of the price, so I think I'll see how I get on.
Thanks for explaining the variables and for the reassuring words. I wanted to ask the midwife how they actually came to those results, so that does help!
Haha I think we'll end up going Ocarro too. I was so excited when they showed me how I could put it down and back up just one handed 😂 I've also just seen that M&P are having an Autumn event, as well!
That's so lovely of your DH to surprise you like that, how exciting!! We'll be arriving in NYC about a week after you leave. I can't wait to see how magical it'll be around Christmas time. I hope you have a brilliant time 😁

@purplefig glad you had a lovely time at the wedding! I hope the drive was okay! Good on you for dancing all through the night, as well. Must have been so fun!
You look so fab in your dress and your bump is gorgeous! Slippers look soo comfy as well 😂

@LikeTheFruit I know, I think I'll most likely be in big jumpers and will need to invest in a maternity coat to keep me warm!
The milestones are so exciting to reach yet bring a whole set of worries with them! I guess it's preparing us for motherhood probably 😂
Well done on the class! It must have felt great, but definitely test those legs!

@thumper59 thanks lovely. I will speak to my midwife, she will be the best person for reassurance, you're right.
I hope you had a more relaxing day 2 of maternity leave today 😊 that coat is absolutely adorable! I would not have been able to resist that at all.

@cupcakesandglitter thanks lovely. I just need to focus on the low risk part I think!
I'm glad your sickness has settled! It's good you're able to ease back into work now, hopefully that'll speed time up before your next appointment. Maybe plan some exciting things in between to look forward to for distractions?
Hopefully all will be okay at your scan xx

You're all so lovely, I'm honestly overwhelmed by the reassurances and advice. This thread is a godsend, so thank you ladies! ❤️

DH is out for the night with some mates, so I'm enjoying some leftover curry we got from his mums 🙊

Have a lovely evening all! 😊

MrsEG · 22/10/2019 19:18

@ELW85 for me I’d say I had 2-ish weeks of ‘is that the babies or is it wind’ before it became really obvious it was them! I notice it much more after food or a drink, and when I’m lay down!

@LikeTheFruit Well done you on going to the exercise class! I miss my old exercise a lot - was such an avid runner before and now the most I do is ‘jog’ around the pool in aquanatal 🙈

@cupcakesandglitter ahh thanks - it did take about 7 attempts at just videoing my belly before they finally moved haha! How are you doing? I understand the waiting but honestly, it’ll suddenly just fly and your 20-week scan will be here! The weeks are just disappearing at the mo - I think this time of year with the Xmas countdown kinda helps speed it all up a bit too?!

@purplefig Ooh I’ll have to have a listen to that podcast, I often feel like ‘am I being really lazy for doing the really short dog walk then having a bath and calling it a night?’ Your stew sounds delicious! I’ve just had a stir fry that was only okay. Very disappointed! Cooking up a Sri Lankan curry now for the rest of the week though!

@MrsR16 one month!! Am I remembering right that you’re due before Xmas too? What an exciting end to the year!!

@thumper59 That little coat is adorable!

Anyone watching Bake Off later? I’m gunning for David to win at this point. Hoping we lose literally any of the others!!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 22/10/2019 19:35

@purplefig ours cost about £13 from screwfix!

@LokiCat I am so excited to get it done! Hoping it's going to look as good in person as it does in my head... haha!

@MrsEG you are remembering right! 18th December 😊 super scary how quick it's coming round... 8 weeks tomorrow... that does mean that 9 weeks tomorrow is Christmas! Sorry ladies 😂

Tropicana1 · 22/10/2019 22:19

@purplefig your dress for the wedding looks lovely! And bump is growing nicely too!

@Fivebyfive2 genuinely losing my mind, can't remember if I've already replied or not but glad your scan went well 😊

@MrsR16 oh love the idea of a dimmer! Might have to steal that one and get DH to do one in our nursery too!

@thumper59 that coat is adorable! I have to keep off any baby clothes websites, I can't stop myself shopping 🙈

PippaPug · 22/10/2019 22:33

I’m all excited but home alone so no one to share this with but I think I can feel the babies move! Been going on for about 10 mins, like a weird like of movement inside, like something is rolling around and the feeling changes as it moves round my tummy....hoping it’s the babies letting me know that they are ok and I shouldn’t worry about the scan on Thursday!
