Morning ladies! Hope we're all having a lovely weekend, I've spent it painting some old wooden furniture and doing some garden bits so far!
Also ordered our chicco next to me crib off Emma's diary so got it reduced from £299 to £159!

@Fivebyfive2 that's so nice that you get another scan at 28! I just had my standard midwife appointment this week for my 28 week one where they just measured my bump again - nowhere near as good as another scan!

Fivebyfive2 · 20/10/2019 10:47

@Tropicana1, what a bargain on the crib! Sounds like you've had a very productive weekend 😀 I'm honestly not sure why I'm having the hospital appointment?! I was supposed to see the consultant at my 20 week scan, but it didn't happen, so maybe it's because of that?! I'm getting the impression they've put me as consultant led/extra monitoring because of my history when I was younger, as a 'just in case' thing, but all seems to be going pretty standard so far. Fingers crossed all is well in the last stretch! How did you get on with your midwife appointment? Xx

MrsEG · 20/10/2019 13:02

@Fivebyfive2 Ah if you’re consultant led you’ll have more scans - I’ve got loads coming up haha! Ah Christmas at mums is always the way to go isn’t it?! Can just put your feet up!! I’m so looking forward to a quiet one - with DH family in Ireland were often travelling or hosting people for a few days so I can’t wait for it to just be the two of us!

@Tropicana1 Bargain on the next to me! I never think to look on Emma’s Diary but I hear they often have amazing discounts!

Just waiting on some friends to arrive at a pub in town for a Sunday roast; waitress has informed me it’s a 45 min wait on food - good job I packed some emergency snacks!!

Cot bed is up! Dh and my dad did most of it, while me and mum just helped with the organising! I'm so proud of dh, he struggles with DIY etc because of dypraxia, but him and my dad did really well, just muddled through together and there was no stress!

PippaPug · 21/10/2019 09:22

Hello everyone!

It’s very quiet on here last few days, hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and managed to relax 😊

@purplefig - I’m hoping that’s the case but I’m feeling just a bit anxious about my scan purely because I can’t feel anything.

@Larrydavid - how are you feeling after the weekend?

@BabySquid - how’s the packing going?

@LikeTheFruit - New York sounds amazing! I wanted to go for my 30th but we got married a month before and then had our honeymoon, but it’s on my list for places to go one day! I’m excited to see the babies, but I’m also just worried/anxious and concerned that they are both ok - just the lack of me really feeling anything.

@MrsEG - that sounds a fantastic scan! I’m just worried about lack of movement and it’s just playing on my mind that’s all.

@ELW85 - how are you lovely? I’m hoping that the sonographer will be able to put my mind at ease :)

@Lemonysherbet - that’s so exciting, congratulations, that’s amazing!

@Fivebyfive2 - the cot looks fabulous! I bet your so excited now and it’s feeling more real!

I went to the baby show yesterday - it was great for singletons and Its almost lucky I have twins because I would of wanted a lot more 😂 was a little bit disappointed by the lack of breastfeeding/reusable items - I guess it’s not as good at money making, but lots of disposable nappies which will biodegrade and wipes (apparently 🤨)
Just felt they missed a trick!

MrsEG · 21/10/2019 10:45

@PippaPug Glad you enjoyed! We didn’t get much at the Manchester one other than a steriliser and some dummies, oh and some changing mats. Was really good to ‘test drive’ some of the car seats though! It’s so normal to feel a bit anxious before scans - I always do. But like everyone has mentioned, so many women haven’t felt a thing by 20 weeks - you’ll be amazed at how much it starts to ramp up the following few weeks!

So I don’t know if anyone else knew this but you can request an additional black bin from the council when you have a baby! In my area the cost was £15 and you have to state why etc. We plan on using reusable nappies/wipes etc as much as we can but when newborn they’ll need disposables and I can only imagine how much extra waste there will be in that first year, so we’ve ordered one today. Our black bin is only collected once a month so it’ll be a bit of a godsend!

Morning all!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend?

@MrsEG**@Fivebyfive2 - my sentiments exactly on the family drama.
I said to DH we should be the most relaxed we can be and enjoying the remaining months as a couple, instead of sorting everyone else out.
I feel awful for his brother though; basically the MiL isn’t willing to take him in so he’s ended up going back to his ex.

@Fivebyfive2 - I LOVE Christmas so I’m all over it already 😂 we’re hosting again this year, which I can’t wait for!

@MrsEG - that is amazing, about the movements! Was it surreal?

@PippaPug - I hope you’re feeling a little better my dear? You’ll go to the scan and come out feeling amazing after seeing them both perfectly happy and healthy 😊

thumper59 · 21/10/2019 11:55

@Fivebyfive2 thanks we had a lovely weekend! I've told OH we need to gather a list of what we want to get for everyone then I can order it from home. We have a ton of birthdays in November and December too, so got them to sort as well.

@MrsEG it feels weird, I feel like im pulling a sicky! Haha. Amazing you saw movement. He still stops most of the time I start videoing 🙄. He's like his dad for photos and vids already!! Haha.

So on the first day of maternity I have blitzed my dressing room, cleaned our bedroom and gave the nursery and landing a quick clean. I'm back on the sofa now! Gonna have an hour or so then need to pop and do the food shop. So nice to still be in my pjs! The dogs are so confused as to why I am at home 😂 hope your all doing well and had a lovely weekend. I'm 38 weeks today and I think he's moved a bit lower but Is still pretty snug!

Fivebyfive2 · 21/10/2019 15:57

Hi all! Glad to hear other people already getting ready for Christmas 🙂🎄

So the 28 week scan went well, Little Homer is doing just fine! He is a good size but not worryingly large at the moment, although he is very low down and breach. Consultant said I have another scan/consultation at 32 weeks to keep an eye on things. If he's still breached nearer the time, they've decided a c section won't be as big of an issue as they first thought because all my scaring from previous surgeries are a little higher up. So all in all, a good appointment! Xx

MrsEG · 21/10/2019 16:38

@ELW85 I’m pleased you’ve put your foot down - you come first and foremost now! The one thing so many friends say to me to make the most of during pregnancy is just that lovely one on one alone time with DH! Sister says the one thing she missed from pre-baby is a good Dominos and Netflix night!
The movements are amazing, it’s getting more and more each day - DH felt them twice today (or was it one each - who knows!) To think it’s gone from a tickle to this in 3 weeks is insane to me.

@thumper59 I bet the dogs are loving having you home!! When I first started WFH the dog would look so suspicious of me like ‘why are you here?!’ Sounds like an excellent day of nesting!
Ha I know - I did finally managed to get a video of my belly moving this afternoon though!

@Fivebyfive2 that’s excellent news all around! Do you have a birthing ball? My yoga teacher reckons bouncing around on those of an evening can help turn a breach baba!

MrsEG · 21/10/2019 17:29

FYI if anyone is considering using Cheeky Wipes, the code birthday11 gets you 20% off at the moment - I’ve just purchased my kit! Nappies next on the list, think we are going with the Bambino Mio kits but waiting for a good Black Friday offer!

MrsH497 · 21/10/2019 17:47

Hey ladies sorry I've been quiet really struggling with the sickness and nausea (can't even stomach ginger anymore!) thought after a few days sick I would feel better getting ready for work opened the fridge to sort my lunch out and was sick instantly. I think it's forcing myself to wake up and get up in the morning that doesn't help.

Now deciding what I feel like for dinner

Hope everyone is doing good xx

Anny27 · 21/10/2019 17:52

@MrsEG thanks for cheeky wipes info! My SIL is 29 weeks atm and wanting to use them so will pass the code onto her.

Bit early for me to buy stuff yet but i want to use them when baby arrives:)

LikeTheFruit · 21/10/2019 18:36

@PippaPug I'm absolute sure your scan will be fine but totally understand the anxiety around it. I've had very few movements but know now that's due to having anterior placenta. Maybe you'll be the same?

LokiCat · 21/10/2019 19:04

Hi all :) happy Monday. Hope you all had a lovely weekend and day today!

@LikeTheFruit ooh amazing! New York will be great, have a fab time! We're going over Xmas, I can't wait! Although need to make sure I pack enough warm clothes as I heard it'll be freezing by then.

@Lemonysherbet ah I'm so glad all went well at the scan, very happy for you! It's such an emotional feeling seeing them for the first time.

@Anny27 I had about two weeks where it felt like all my symptoms had disappeared and then they showed up again with a vengeance! Exciting that you've got your scan this Friday 😁

@PippaPug we didn't get much at the baby show, but got to try out the M&P Ocarro which I've had my eye on, but I think we were slightly swayed by the iCandy Peach, as well. It was fun having a go on the Buggy Testing Track 😂
Understandable having anxiety about scan and movements, it's difficult when you can't see them all the time and know what's happening 'in there'. Hopefully all will be okay. When is your scan date?

@ELW85 sorry to hear you're having so much family drama! It's definitely a lot more important for you and DH to spend time together and focus on yourselves. It also doesn't help if your MIL is stressing you out when you should be relaxing as much as possible. I hope all sorts out soon.

@MrsEG oh how amazing you got to see them move!

@thumper59 Go you for getting so much done on your first day of maternity leave! Hope you've got an evening off relaxing, definitely deserve it after that!

@Fivebyfive2 brilliant news about your scan, glad all went well. Hopefully he'll move as time gets closer, but to hear they've got plans in place.
Cot looks great as well!

@MrsH497 sorry to hear you've been struggling so much with the nausea and sickness. I felt like that the last two weeks and the only thing I could really stomach was soup. The nausea is slowly getting better now. I hope you feel better soon, I know how awful it feels!

So I got my screening results back today. 1 in 50,000 for Edwards and Patau's and DS is 1 in 790. I'm happy they're both low risk, but can't help but worry about the latter results.
It's so frustrating, every time I feel a little bit calmer about the pregnancy something else comes up causing more worry 🙈

PippaPug · 21/10/2019 19:42

@MrsEG - I think I was too fussy at the baby show 😂 my stomach has definitely Changed in two weeks - looking more round now, so I’m hoping that’s good thing!
What else do you need to buy?

@ELW85 - I’m feeling a bit better but also not.....I wish I was like a teletubby and had a screen inside my stomach and I can see what’s going on 😂

@thumper59 - how was your first day of mat leave?

@Fivebyfive2 - Glad Homer is all well and the appointment went swimmingly!

@MrsH497 - that sounds really tough on you, how’s the dinner going?

@LikeTheFruit - I’m wondering if that’s it....I’m just anxious about it!

@LokiCat - my and my friend loved the buggy track and the weighted teddy’s 😂 it was interesting watching some singles getting stuck on the bumps whilst the double I was pushing gliding over 😂 scan is this Thursday and I’m getting all twitchy about it!

I think if you look at either this thread or the previous some of us (including me) have mentioned how we felt about results and the anxiousness and stress about it....I was worried as the twins had different results so what I did was rung the midwife up (and cried!) because I was worried about it but she really put my mind at ease, can you do the same?

Tropicana1 · 21/10/2019 21:04

@MrsH497 ah I feel your pain there - the number of times I opened the fridge in the first trimester and threw up! I got DH to take on a lot more kitchen duties and basically stayed out of there and just shouted some instructions from the living room - I could it really helped to not be in there, just the general kitchen vibe made me nauseous

@LokiCat we went for the mamas and papas ocarro - I loveeee it!

@Fivebyfive2 amazing news on the scan! Glad they've got a good plan for you as well 😊

MrsH497 · 21/10/2019 21:12

@PippaPug slow!! We had fish and chips (birthday treat)
@Tropicana1 just asked DH to make my lunch for tomorrow and put it in the door so I don't have to venture too far into the fridge!!

I'm trying the eating plain biscuits before I get up. Was so much better when I wasn't at work!!

MrsR16 · 21/10/2019 22:21

Evening ladies! Had a great weekend, although we went out in town for DH's birthday (pub crawl with some friends) and I am still exhausted 2 days later!! 😂 Got home tonight and started painting the nursery! DH also installed a dimmer switch which will be super handy when baby's in there 😊

Hope everyone's doing ok! Sorry to hear you're struggling with sickness at the moment, @MrsH497 - there's nothing worse!

LokiCat · 22/10/2019 07:11

Morning ladies 😊

@PippaPug ha yeah I kept getting stuck on that bridge 🙈 DH had to push it for me over the little bumps!
I have everything crossed that your scan will go well this Thursday!
I do remember when you were all discussing about your results. My midwife has unfortunately left and I haven't been given a number for the new one yet. I've got my 16 week appointment on Nov 7th so was planning on discussing it with her then. Hopefully I'll get some reassurance after speaking to her.

@Tropicana1 it is a really popular one from what I've seen and I do really like the look of it. I think we'll probably head to John Lewis to have another look at the two!

@MrsR16 glad you had a nice weekend! What colour are you painting the nursery? Exciting that you are getting further along with it!

Have a lovely day all!

MrsEG · 22/10/2019 07:24

@MrsH497 Sorry to hear you’re feeling so sick!

@Anny27 No problem! I got 40 wipes and all the gear for £40-ish with the code so it worked out fab. Our plan is to use them for everything other than bums!!

@LokiCat Just try to remember that low risk really is low risk - even a result of 1 in 100 gives your baby a 99% chance of being perfectly healthy. I’m sure your midwife will reassure you at your next appointment too :)

@PippaPug Aww yay that your bump is popping!! We have the car seats still to get, waiting for Black Friday. I also need to buy a kit of cloth nappies. We’re firing through our shopping list though!! How about you?

@MrsR16 Sounds like a lovely weekend! Enjoy the nursery painting :)

enoress19 · 22/10/2019 07:48

I got my first positive test last Friday - did 6 to make sure they were all positive 😂 It’s my first time so unsure of what my symptoms should be 🙈 Since last Friday I’ve been feeling knackered and had really achey legs, struggling to sleep. Are these normal symptoms or should I be concerned?

Thank you for all your help 😘

Larrydavid · 22/10/2019 08:09

Hey ladies, hope you're all well. I'm super busy with work this week - though time is still moving incredibly slowly! I'm less emotional this week but have been hit with full on sickness 🤢 yay! I had to buy some new bras which were more comfortable - total game changer!

@PippaPug feeling much better thank you! I don't know how I missed it previously - but you're having twins! That's amazing. Belated congratulations!

@thumper59 enjoy your maternity leave! I have a dog, I'm home with her more now and she finds it's so confusing if I ever leave her. Dog guilt!

@Fivebyfive2 glad your appointment went well!

@MrsH497 sorry to hear you're feeling so sick. How many weeks are you now? Hope it eases off soon. Feeling constantly sick is rubbish x

@LokiCat Those odds still sound really low risk but totally understand why you would feel worried - try to get some reassurance from your midwife. Are there further tests you can do for reassurance?

Hope you all have a good day x

MrsR16 · 22/10/2019 08:38

@LokiCat the walls are light grey, and we're having the wall behind the cot papered in Dumbo wallpaper that I've just fallen in love with ☺️ easy enough to pink or blue up after baby's here and we know what it is!

@MrsEG thanks lovely! I'm knackered today now haha but I think that's just par for the course now. I'm counting down the days to when I finish work! 😂

@enoress19 the tiredness is definitely a thing! Won't get any better till you're in the second trimester... congratulations!

@Larrydavid aw sorry to hear you're suffering with sickness! Totally with you on the properly fitting bras - it helps so much! 😂 I've lost count of how many sizes I've gone up since getting pregnant!

Lemonysherbet · 22/10/2019 09:04

Thank you lovelies, it was so reassuring to see baby, even if a splodge and a heartbeat.

@Larrydavid I find time is moving super slow too, although I've got my scan date through from the NHS and it's 4 weeks today which in the grand scheme of things doesn't seem too bad. I'm sure I'll be moaning it's dragging in a week though

@MrsH497 how far along are you? My nausea wasn't too bad at the start, but I've just hit 8 weeks and my god it's not fun. It's so hard when it's too early to tell people too, it's like hiding an illness. I'm sure people.have heard me throwing up and been kind enough not to ask.

@fivebyfive2 glad the scan went well, also loving the name homer 😆

@MrsEG I didn't even know reusable wipes were a thing. Feel like I'm going to learn a whole lot about motherhood being in this group 😂

Defs waltzing into work late today. I couldn't move this morning, sickness is strong! I forced in the corner of a cracker and I'm waiting for my train. Getting good with excuses as to why I'm late, think I might have to tell my boss soon but he was talking about baby poo yesterday and how he wouldn't say half the things he was saying in front of someone who was pregnant so there's a fun convo 🙃
