@purplefig thanks for 1st tri dizziness advice! I feel like i constantly have snacks on me atm and never get hungry because i am eating constantly to feel better haha!

BabySquid · 16/10/2019 16:55

@Tropicana1 maybe start talking to her about the baby and drop in that you're needing to start order furniture etc soon, say you don't wanna feel like you're pushing her out, but need to get things ready for the baby.
@MrsEG must be that kinda day today, I'm having the same... our stupid system is doing things it shouldn't therefore messing up peoples pay and making us look bad!! 🤬
I'm also catching up on GBBO tonight, want something to go with it but know I shouldn't as we were out Monday, and had fish and chips last night!!
Feeling like I've ballooned a bit too so that should stop me eating too many bad things (but maybe it's just the jumper I'm wearing!) ((maybe that's wishful thinking!!))

MrsEG · 16/10/2019 17:28

@purplefig Ha, I love that food kicks baby in to action! I’m starting to feel them more in the day now, a little wriggle or a poke here and there, but not much at all! It’s getting a bit more each day though :)

@ELW85 here is today’s bump shot - so whilst yes I’m acutely aware I’m really big for 21 weeks there is two in there! The cellulite on my legs has massively increased too. Just feeling like a bit of a frump this week!

@Anny27 Do it, you can’t beat Indian food especially this time of year!

@BabySquid Oh no! Sorry to hear you’re having a less than amazing work day too!! I’m so jealous of the fish and chips!!

Aww @cupcakesandglitter huge congratulations on your little girl beautiful scan pic as well.
@LokiCat gorgeous scan pic!
@MrsEG I think you look beautiful and such a lovely bump.

Had to go sick today from work the ridiculously early starts have caught up with me was throwing up as I went to leave for work. Still feel nauseous and have no appetite. Feel so stupid that plenty of women get sick and don't have to call in sick to work.

PippaPug · 16/10/2019 18:39

Typed a huge message and now it’s gone 🙄🙄

@MrsEG - you look wonderful, and a wonderful size for 21 weeks! Did the cots turn up today? How’s your back?

@LokiCat - Your scan photo looks wonderful and welcome to the second trimester! Hope your on the tail end of tiredness and nausea now.

@cupcakesandglitter - Congratulations on your little girl how exciting!

@Larrydavid - how are you feeling now? I’m 19 weeks and still feel tired some days, it’s completely normal! Rest when you can :)

@Anny27 - yes get a baby on board badge - I ordered mine and it came within 5 days and it now lives in my handbag for when I have to go on the train it’s been a real help!

I got a bargain today - 7 breast pump Medela bottles for £8.75 - 3 of those bottles are £13 by themselves! So very happy with that! Starting to look at breast pumps now...not sure to buy one when the twins are here if I need it or buy one now.

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday ☺️

MrsR16 · 16/10/2019 19:15

@purplefig yes, unfortunately! There's a couple of cracks appeared and ridges that shouldn't be there. Obviously we want that sorting before we start painting!

@MrsEG thanks lovely! I will stick it on the box as soon as I get home from my sister's! 😊 you're looking really well!! Bump's nice and neat at the moment still - you're doing well especially considering there's two in there!

@MrsH497 you sound like you're beating yourself up a bit - please don't worry! Lots of women struggle and it's only a handful that have no issues! It's perfectly natural and your number one priority should be you and that beautiful baby you're currently growing!

ELW85 · 16/10/2019 20:42

@MrsEG - you’ve convinced me to look up a saag recipe!
You look fantastic, please try not to feel conscious (easier said than done). I think you look pretty petite for 21 weeks with twins, for what it’s worth 😊

@purplefig - sometimes it feels like a little twinge but not a really deep twinge, more close to the surface if that makes any sense?
How was book club, and what are you reading? I’m still trying to finish American Gods.

@cupcakesandglitter - the pyjamas sound so cute! We bought a little sleep suit from Next recently and it’s so adorable.

@MrsH497 - you need to look after yourself 😊 lots of women need a bit of time off in pregnancy, you are going through a lot!

@Anny27 - I hope you’re ok; I would have freaked out at the thought of going on the tube in the first tri...even now, haha!

Finally caught up on GBBO. Kind of get but it but a bit disappointed at the result. I won’t say anymore in case I spoil it!

stormtrooperjulian · 17/10/2019 07:24

Hi all! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing.... I can't believe how quickly time goes once the baby arrives, it's going to take me ages to catch up on this thread!

MrsEG · 17/10/2019 08:04

@MrsH497 Don’t worry about taking sick days, I was off yesterday really just because I was exhausted! You have to listen to your body and give it the break when it needs it. Hope you’re feeling better today!

@PippaPug Thank you lovely, I moved the cot delivery to Friday as that’s when I’m next working from home. On the subject of pumps - you can hire them from hospital! That’s our plan, it’s about £15 a month. So we’re going to do that and see how we get on and then buy if we need it. Great bargain on the bottles!!

@MrsR16 It doesn’t feel neat to me!! I think I’m just starting to get a bit anxious about how much bigger it is going to get over another 15 or so weeks. But I had a good chat to my yoga teacher about it and she even recommended slings to use as a bump support so I’m going to look in to that. Hope you get the plastering sorted soon!

@ELW85 ah thank you, I have to catch myself sometimes being so self deprecating as I know my body is obviously changing but some days are harder than others. I tried on the dress I have for Halloween and genuinely felt like a big fat pumpkin!! I was the same with GBBO - not happy with a lot of the decisions!! I think they’re setting a certain someone up for the win now (and I don’t think she deserves it)

@stormtrooperjulian Hello lovely! How are you getting on?

So there was a new girl at yoga last night... who is having twins!! First other pregnant lady with twins I’ve met! She was really lovely so I hope she becomes a regular so I can have someone to share nightmares with when they arrive haha! She is about 6 weeks behind me and has the most adorable little neat bump, her eyes fell out of her head when she saw mine!! Slept so much better for doing yoga though. I may invest in a mat and try and do some from home on other nights too. Happy Thursday all!

@MrsEG, what a fantastic bump! You look fab 🙂 Glad you slept well and met another twin mum! Xx

28 weeks today and yesterday I confirmed my dates for work. Finish on 16th Dec, will use some holidays up and my maternity leave starts 6th of Jan. Then when I'm back, I can use the next lot of holidays to stagger my return so I can be part time for a while.

Anyone got weekend plans? We're seeing Zombie land 2 on Sat and building the cot bed Sunday.

Also, for those bake off fans... I was a little disappointed with the result! Not sure who I'm rooting for now?!

Tropicana1 · 17/10/2019 08:16

Thanks ladies - I know you're all right I just need to bite the bullet and have the conversation. It's hardly fair of me to get annoyed with her if I don't actually say anything, and I don't want resentment to build on my end!

@MrsEG I think your bump looks lovely!! But I totally get what you mean about feeling like a frump. Pre pregnancy I thought I would love how I looked and embrace the change and the bump but I just feel like everything I wear I just look frumpy and shit 😂😭 feel like my thighs and hips won't stop growing either! I know exactly how you feel on the body confidence thing right now. Here's my bump last week at 27.5

Also does anyone else's bump look different depending what side you take the picture from 😂

@Fivebyfive2 That's fab! You can officially start the mat leave countdown now!
Yep - I'm rooting for David, but I don't think he'll win annoyingly. He's been the nicest and most consistent I think!

@Tropicana1 fabulous bump!! Mine just looks round no matter what angle ha! Yep I so, so get it. My bum and legs are getting bigger and the cellulite is there to match and I do just feel frumpy! At least it's getting nice and cold now so I can really layer up!!
Good luck having the chat with your friend, I hope it goes well!

MrsR16 · 17/10/2019 09:01

@MrsEG I'm sure it will get bigger, but that's a sign of healthy babies! Mine's got big over the last couple of weeks (see bump picture from yesterday!) and everyone is commenting on it... aside from my sister who feels huge next to me! Bless her! 😂

@Fivebyfive2 that's exciting!! Not long to go really!

MrsR16 · 17/10/2019 09:02

@Anny27 100% get a badge and use it! You are pregnant even if you don't have a bump and you're probably dealing with some pretty grim symptoms right now, so it's there for you to make the most of.

@MrsEG fab bump as ever! I'm not sure what you think, but I feel like you popped quite early on with the twins but I don't feel like it's grown astronomically? Like @ELW85 said, I think you look pretty petite considering you've got two in there! FWIW, I'm constantly googling bump pics of the week I'm at and I'd say there are plenty of comparative singleton pics for early 20s weeks. Speaking of which, I've got to the point where my normal tops definitely reveal the bump now, long live that infamous new look haul Grin. Fab news you met another pregnant twin mum to be! I have a yoga mat at home and it's an absolute god send for when my back is playing up. I hop on the mat and either put a quick 10 min pregnancy yoga you tube video on (I'm really enjoying this one atm: or just do the stretches I remember from class. Always leave it feeling better.

@MrsH497 Don't be so hard on yourself. It's far better to take time off and recoup properly, then when you do go into work you'll actually be useful! Take the time you need to feel better.

@MrsR16 yeah that makes sense - is he or she all booked in now for plastering? Fab bump!

@ELW85 I'd say mine are more surface level too - certainly no rolling over or anything like that. More like taps from the inside. Book club was great - I hadn't been for a few months because I'd been away / feeling rough with nausea so it was good to get back into it. We read 'The Confessions of Frannie Langton' - most people enjoyed it, but I didn't. I thought the writing over the top (the author ruddy loves a simile) and the plot unbelievable. I don't particularly enjoy reading novels with graphic scenes of violence though, so I don't think it was ever going to be one for me. How are you finding American Gods? We read a Neil Gaiman a few months ago, also not for me (I am a right fuss pot if you can't tell).

@stormtrooperjulian HI HI HI!!How are you? How's motherhood treating you?!

@Fivebyfive2 how great to finally have a date in place! And that sounds like a fun weekend you've got planned. We're off to a wedding.

@Tropicana1 Gorgeous bump - you don't look at all frumpy! Glad you've decided to have a chat with her, I honestly think you'll feel so much better when you do.

Happy Thursday one and all! I'm off tomorrow as we're travelling up country for a wedding. Not looking forward to the 7-hour car journey (my back is already wincing at the thought!) but I am looking forward to the wedding.

On the topic of suffering with body image, I totally get it. I spent my teenage years and a large chunk of my 20s struggling with a really poor body image (and all the crap that goes with it). Something that changed my life was reading 'The Beauty Myth' by Naomi Wolf. I don't mean to sound remotely preachy (and I still have my days) but I just thought it was worth mentioning here, as it resonated so much with me and to a large extent (along with other things, like learning about intuitive eating) has totally changed my relationship with my body. Ok, I'll stop gushing. Have a fab day all! xx

ELW85 · 17/10/2019 09:28

The joys of writing a huge message and then it all getting deleted when you try to upload a photo!!

I’ve attached mine from yesterday at nearly 18w. I cropped my head as it was straight after work and I look shattered!

@MrsEG - the trials and tribulations of being a woman; we can be our own worst critics! But you are amazing and your body is doing an incredible thing 😊
Totally agree regarding GBBO; I actually think Alice should have gone. They’ve definitely got their favourites for some reason.

@Tropicana1 - good luck with your chat! These things rarely end up being as bad as we build them up to be in our heads 😊

@stormtrooperjulian - how are you getting on? Lovely to hear from you!

@MrsR16 - lovely bump!!

Happy Thursday all! So. Close. To. The. Weekend!!

ELW85 · 17/10/2019 09:33

@purplefig - cross post!
Oh tomorrow is the epic wedding journey! Did you decide whether to nap or are you winging it?
I hear you on body image. For me it’s definitely part of the societal pressures of being a woman. When we were kids, our magazines were: “how to tell if he likes you” “smile to seem attractive” “dress for your shape” all the boys stuff was basically “go and rule the world” so we always feel like we’re in competition with each other and ourselves.
End of vent!!
I’m not getting on amazingly well with American Gods but I liked Neverwhere when I was younger, so I think my tastes have just changed.
Have a fab last day working before a long weekend! Xx

MrsEG · 17/10/2019 09:59

@MrsR16 You are all bump! You look absolutely fabulous!

@purplefig I did pop extremely early, I wouldn’t even know how much it’s grown though as I don’t measure it or weigh myself at all. I think it’s more all the other body changes getting me down than the bump itself! My boobs are insane too. I know what you mean - I struggled with eating disorders throughout my teens as I was a dancer (it breeds anorexia like you wouldn’t believe) and so I find being out of control of my own body quite hard sometimes.
Oh man, hope the epic drive goes well! Have you got pillows and lots of snacks for the car?
Thanks for the yoga video!

@ELW85 Fab bump!! Yeah I’m not a fan of Alice or Rosie! But even Steph and her wobbling lip and always covering her face when she’s being judged is driving me mad. Own it, woman!!

OP posts:
PippaPug · 17/10/2019 10:02

Everyone’s bumps look wonderful! Your all glowing ⭐️

@MrsEG - I have no idea if we can rent one from that hospital, I have no midwife currently and I’m stuck in limbo a bit with my questions!

Anyone going to the baby show in Olympia London this week?

ELW85 · 17/10/2019 10:10

@MrsEG - I said the same about Steph! I said to DH; “why is she playing the 5yo in the playground card?!”

I’ve been trying to talk myself down on something but I think I need to canvas some opinion ladies, so please be honest and brace yourself for TMI...

So, I woke up this morning and there were two drops of blood quite far apart in my underwear and not where you’d expect them to be if it was your period.
I wiped and there was noting at all. No suspicious looking CM or anything. I’ve had CM since and it’s been totally white (sorry).
I’m trying to be logical and think that if it was anything internally, it would have been there when I wiped as it tends to hit you/your skin first before your underwear? So I’m thinking it’s probably a shaving spot from my leg or something? Or should I be freaking out and calling the midwife?

PippaPug · 17/10/2019 10:26

@ELW85 - can you check with a mirror if you think you nicked your skin, or could your husband? Did you have sex last night, some women bleed after sex too.

Can you wear white knickers so easy to see any more blood.... would keep a eye on it and if you feel concerned etc then call the midwife they will put your mind at ease I’m sure ☺️

MrsEG · 17/10/2019 10:26

@pippapug Oh no how come you don’t have a midwife? Is there anyone you can speak to - do you have an upcoming appt with your consultant?
I believe from TAMBA that hiring pumps when you have twins is really common so you can see how you go - so definitely ask if you get chance! They say the hospital pumps go on each boob and can fill a bottle within 10 mins!!

@ELW85 Before you even mentioned shaving, that was my first thought (I struggle to see my bikini line now so I’m always nicking it getting ready for swimming!) so my first thought is don’t panic! Especially as it doesn’t appear to have come from inside you. But if you are worrying, I’ve found midwives are fantastic at talking you down. Mine were amazing when I was having my bad bump pain, so maybe just give them a buzz anyway - they’re the experts :)

OP posts:
ELW85 · 17/10/2019 10:39

@PippaPug - we’re on the same page, I’m wearing white today! Nothing so far, but white CM so in my head if it was internal bleeding, the white would still be a bit discoloured if it was flushing it out?

@MrsEG - my rational head is saying it’s nothing as when I did have my spotting, which was heavy at times, it never made it to my underwear, so I can’t think it could have gotten my underwear without being there when I wipe?
I’ve text the midwife to give me a call though. Hopefully she thinks it’s nothing too!

purplefig · 17/10/2019 11:49

@ELW85 oh just look at that bump!! Lovely!!! I'll have to upload one later and get on board the bump train Grin. I couldn't agree with you more re: societal pressures to look beautiful. It's so sad and so pervasive. I think what helped me in the end was realising what a huge waste of my own time it was, and actually getting a bit angry at the system! And actually, getting pregnant has brought it all to the surface again, as I don't want to pass this on. My (slim) parents were both constantly on and off of diets and exercise fads / talking badly about themselves throughout my childhood and it for sure has an impact. Anyway, that's a bloody ramble isn't it?! We're leaving in the AM so I probably won't nap - I'll just had a good nights sleep and hopefully wake-up raring to go on Saturday Grin. Sorry to hear you aren't getting on with your book, it is funny how tastes changed over the years and different things resonate. Just seen your latest post - like everyone else said, I bet it's just a shaving nick but I think it's great you've text your midwife as she'll be able to properly reassure you.

@MrsEG Good for you - I also don't weigh or measure myself either. I know what you mean about the other changes (and I hear you big, big, big time on the huge boobs front - DH accidentally clipped one just walking by me the other...!!), but I'm just trying to remember that our bodies are insanely clever and laying down some fat reserves is all a part of the process. But I can imagine it's a particularly tough time if you have a history of eating disorders, so please do feel free to tell me to stfu Grin.
